60 of 189 · most liked firstSolid top down action roguelike... there's so many nowadays that it's hard to stand out in the crowd but this one is worth playing if you like the colorful future robotic aesthetics. Definitely easy to recommend at the current 90% discount. Take a chance and see what crazy cool combinations you can get going as you aerate evil brains that need eradicating. If only all our problems could be shoot at!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heyoooo! We're now here too! We're an indie studio based in France, making juicy and punchy 2D action games since 2013! We made ScourgeBringer and NeuroVoider, and we contributed to bunch of other projects with other studios. We're currently fulltime-busy on a new big (yet still secret) game. 👊

Overall Rating - Seriously Flawed ★★☆☆☆ First Impressions I've had Neurovoider (NV) in my library from when it was released in a Humble Bundle monthly bundle back in 2018. Between the twin stick shooter genre and the good impression its aesthetic left on me, I was interested in playing it. However, since it's a local…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →soundtrack and visuals are great. combat is garbage. normal enemies are a matter of walk forward to lure, shoot while backtracking. bosses are an unbalanced mess from boss 2 and onward, as they spam an insane amount of projectiles (including explosives) with pretty much no room to dodge all, on top of not having any warning prior to attacks (unless you count flashes smaller than projectiles that last for a couple frames a warning) even worse, bosses have a weakspot that you have to destroy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the feel of this game a lot, but i beat the game on my first run in about 90 minutes and since there's no meta-progression thats.... pretty much the whole story. It was really cool, but needs something more to keep me coming back. Its a shame, i really liked it but there's not enough progression to make it last.

unlabelledView post →Ultimately a fine game, but one that I found to be severely flawed. A solid part of this game is attacking enemies and backpedaling, with no other strategy being near as effective. This leads to every level quickly feeling repetitive, and every enemy except for the melee guys feel the same. The game for the most part is also too easy in these levels, with my health not once dipping below 3/4 during a regular level. Boss levels on the other hand are a different story. These levels are tiny,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is minimum of gameplay, it is boring. You have good music, good art, good compatibility and performance, but the gameplay is empty. There is no purpose, no drive, no feeling of discovery, it is just about routinely collecting of some robo-parts. I am disappointed of how poor the gameplay is...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to love this game. I really, really do. It has so many good things going for it: sharp visuals, great music, a nice sense of humor and personality, and decent variety of weapons. Great. Except what's not great are the sudden spikes in difficulty that result in instant death through no error of the player. Example: I just beat the third boss. I have the best equipment available through drops. Ive played through the secret areas to get better drops and even got a rare glitched…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very "Meh" game brought down by tedium and balance issues. Got a couple of runs in and just didn't have much fun. I'll go over a few points why: Level design: Very repetitive. Not much personality outside of different effects from the explosive barrels. One area even has ice physics, except worse because the ice patches on the ground aren't clearly demarcated. Dash: The dashing ability was my favorite. Not because it lets me avoid damage, but simply because it lets me get around the area…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far, I'm not terribly impressed. I like the pixel art. However, the maps are hard to read as what would be a wall / obstacle and what is walkable. The game seems to consist of getting a good weapon, and keeping enemies off your screen, getting close enough for a couple to pop in, shoot them down, then rinse / repeat. If you let the enemies get fully into the screen, you're going to lose health pretty quickly, and have a terrible time. I'm not terribly into this kind of gameplay -…

Initial results show promising neuron spike detection."
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty boring gameplay. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but most runs boil down to me trying to kill enemies off-screen with some explosive weapon that explodes the whole screen. You never really get to a point where you can press and hold weapons and you can't really fire both weapons at once, both due to energy restrictions. The loot is pretty boring since unique loot ("glitched") is not really that unique and seemingly only weapons can be glitched. The boss fights are pretty fun in concept…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This might be one of the worst roguelikes i ever played. I expected so so so much more after scourge bringer. Normally i tend to say that game has solid potenial, good idea but poor execution but here? There is nothing, its inspired by nuclear throne in a way but doesn't have any of the replayability or charm of it but to not just complain lets point some things out. First and foremost what this "roguelite" is based on is loot, you get generic weapons you can swap between and body parts of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I got this in a bundle but can not recommend the full price here. It's a really straightforward bullet hellish roguelike. Lots of shooty and boom boom but nothing special. It's not bad, it looks good and plays nice, but there's just not much to it -itemized dps, hp and energy, boss every 5lvls, don't explode. I'm currently playing it with my 7yo, she likes the mechanical spider legs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Twin-stick rogue-like with non-stop explosive action, retro cyberpunk aesthetic, a kickass synthwave soundtrack and one of best EULAs I've ever come across... What's not to love?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is mediocre, flawed and all things considered, boring. Wich is a big problem for a game, since games should be fun or at least engaging. Regular levels consist of running around maps with zero graphical variation apart from layout and theme, shooting at braindead AI that stays still until you get near them, where they start to move and shoot in your direction, 99% of the time posing no direct threat to you, the rest of the 1% consists of elites that spawn with nukes. Movement…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NeuroVoider is a top-down shooter with RPG and rogue-lite elements where you battle hordes of robots in procedurally generated levels. Instead of leveling up your character, you level up your gear. However, this isn't done by gaining XP but by selling gear found in levels of various sizes and difficulties. The twist lies in the progression system—you go through a fixed sequence of rounds, each offering a choice of three levels. You need to strategically pick the ones that grant the biggest…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really fun, though limited, arcade-y shooter with some bullet-hell and rogue elements. The shooting parts are very fun, but the loot management is painful and slow and necessary. I'm not sure I would recommend this at full price but you should definitely pick it up if you can get it on a good sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →eeehhhhh it's whatever On the positive side, there are a surplus of guns, items, and equip-able things, but it's just not enough content to distract from the unsatisfying and repetitive gameplay. Making a roguelike into a sort of looter-shooter was a good idea and I think that this concept has promise but I just don't think it was executed in a fun and engaging way. I'd say 4/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice presentation, athmosphere and musik. Repetetive and boring gameplay. It feels like the bad kind of looter-shooter where you find new gear every couple of minutes but it never changes the playstyle. Five percent more damage here; three percent faster recharge time there. After every stage you spend a couple of minutes in a menu picking out which parts for your robot have the highest number while scraping all the other pieces. I spend more time doing that than actually playing the game. I…

unlabelledView post →Tickles the brain in the exact right ways Only comment I have is that it sucks that you can only play (online) multiplayer through remote play. It's probably a monetary issue for the devs, so I get it, but remote play is sadly still pretty finnicky and doesn't always work (well) One of the best 1,39 euros you'll ever spend though (on 90% sale), beats any supermarket-croissant for sure
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe this game was good a the time and playing with friends would make this better. Got to say though, traversing the levels is quite boring, the enemies are pretty much similar and kinda disappointing. The bosses pretty much come down to a bullet hell but you have to focus more on the smaller enemies that spawn as they do most of the damage, lazy/poor boss design I've noticed in this genre to pad out time of their games. Otherwise the game is more casual of the roguelike's I've played and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yes am have fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's all about the guns. the classes have somewhat of an impact, but it's all about finding out what works for you and landing on them in a run. having no meta progression and just pure gameplay is a nice touch. would recommend it if you like twinstick shooters as the roguelike parts is just upgrades through a run vs endless trees and interwoven systems that never stop being lain on top of one another.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this SHOULD of had native online coop. its a alright game but because its split screen it makes it hard to play it especially on pc or when youre friends arent near you like they used to be
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →haven't played much on here but loads on switch. This is genuinely such a fun game! I don't usually like roguelikes but this really has the perfect balance of difficulty and reward to make me keep playing over and over. The art and graphics are gorgeous, genuinely one of the best examples of pixel art in my opinion, and the music fits so well. The co-op is one of my favourite things about this game. It's so much fun on singleplayer but the shared screen co-op is so fun, it's one of my favourite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great sound track with an okay game attached to it. Gameplay loop is fine and I like the graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is not bad at all, it's rather fun to play, but short. Like people said, finishing the game doesn't unlock anything. One thing that you guys could have be more ambitious about was the stats from the parts and weapons. Not only could make them more random, but also more diverse. Like more range for the weapons, speed of projectiles and fire/attack rate. Could also add freezing guns that slow down enemies. I've found the weapons very unbalanced. The Nuke Rocket is just ridiculously op…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NeuroVoider is another game in the top-down Roguelike genre, in a similar vain to Nuclear Throne, Isaac, Gungeon, etc. Except this one has nothing unique to offer, and has pretty mediocre gameplay as well. I often found myself just walking in the opposite direction of enemies and shooting at them while they were offscreen. Its easy to see why this game never took off quite like the others in its genre, which is almost a shame, as this game has a pretty good soundtrack.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good luck with the game! My wife and I sunk like 100+ hours into Neurovoider a few years back (I even remember we beat a full second playthrough on Hard for the first time on our 10th anniversary!) so you'll always have a fan in me =)
unlabelledView post →It’s hard and super fun. * 3 different classes. * A lot lot of different weapons to choose. * Map bosses are small. * Daily runs. I did not try the cooperative but I enjoyed the game a lot as singleplayer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →store.steampowered.com/news/app/400... Neurovoider, a game from 2016, randomly got a patch today. Nice. Same for Scourgebringer, from 2020. Seems the devs behind both are having a new game and the patch is a way to get a push notification for the people who might be fans. But still nice.
unlabelledView post →47. NeuroVoider Man, so much of my library is free games. I have no idea what this is, only that it is in my library. Maybe that's even more of a reason to give it a try.
unlabelledView post →This game is not for me at all. All enemies feel the same other than the melee and oh my god the menu and UI give me a panic attack. Game has charm but man first impressions are so important, really pissed the bed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rogue-like where at the end of each level you can switch out the modules on your robot. Using weapons and abilities drains energy and once its empty, it goes into overheat mode where nothing can be used until the energy is full again. Energy regenerates passively and those stats can be upgraded via the module system. You fight other robots who can use the same modules that you have access to. Its neat that you can see a cool weapon that a robot is using, then find that weapon yourself. Beat the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a git gud game, simple and very rewarding. ENHANCED MINI NUKE OF BORKED RAMPAGE goes boom. Big boom.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Standard roguelike game that stands out thanks to beautiful pixel art and good synthwave soundtrack. Good range of customization through weapons and parts and responsive controls make the gameplay overall pleasant and fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing and a must have steamdeck essential. A rougelike mech Diablo uh yummm😂 Would love to see a sequel! Also the music Slaps.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not fun. Pixel art makes the game worse. Hard to tell whats going on. Why does everything have to be pixel art?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NeuroVoider is a fun Cyberpunk mech twist on the top down twin stick shooter Rogue like. Gameplay is a bit stripped down, and feels a bit similar to action games from the Saga Genesis, with movement feeling a bit more "tanky" (in a good way) than the typical doge roll based twin stick Rogue likes. The difficulty is not crazy high and I won my first run, but not again after that lol Progression is more straight forward like a traditional RPG than the wild chaotic and game breaking combo's of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no multiplayer save slots and just one save slot
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfectly servicable looter-shooter, but just not very rewarding. Lots of weapons and items feel like clutter, and every level feels the same, due to the level designs, despite the enemy variety. I was done with it after a view hours. With the amount of roguelike games like this one, I've to be strict and say: this one doesn't hold up to those. Consider saving your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't enjoy my time with the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is alright but the equipment system is just a mess. It's way too annoying to compare items to each other and you can only switch in between missions so if you picked wrong you're stuck with it.
