Hello! We're Milkstone, a small independent game studio with one goal: Making fun games while we have fun doing them. Right now we're working on #FarmTogether2 and recently we released #ArmyOfRuin and #Ziggurat2 both on Steam and consoles. Hope to see you around!

I put a good amount of time into it but overall, just really burned out by the design choices. Pros: - Graphics are nice - Music is decent - Lots of weapons & relics - Some nice character models - Aesthetics of characters, maps and enemies are nice - Lots of achievements to unlock if you like having goals Cons: - The enemy powercreep increases far more quickly than player powercreep creating time sinks to grind gold for unlocks - Most unlockable characters are just a recolor of the original…

Army Of RuinArmy of Ruin, for one of the earlier Bullet Heavens, has a surprising amount of content in it's challenges and unlockables and does enough to set itself apart from Vampire Survivors. But it takes way too long to get fun or even playable for that matter, when most lost runs are unavoidable that's on the game, not the player. GameplayHere's a quick speedrun overview of the core features: Lots of characters but they are bland, weapons and passives are very unique, lots of…

Got tired of the Survivors formula, but this game just does it right: short runs, unlocks are more puzzles than grind. Played a lot of bullet heavens out there, this one is just great. And not that long to get 100 %, honestly.

Army of Ruin is great I don't even want to write this, I'd rather just play more, but here we go. WHY /How is it so much better than most Bullet-heavens I've tried?? Very good pacing of unlocks- every time I feel like the gameplay is starting to become a little stale or repetitive, the game will throw something else at me (a new weapon unlock, a new set of challenges that give rewards, new feature unlock, et cetera) You can maybe...okay, just saying theoretically...play this while…

Army of Ruin is a Vampire survivors clone that comes with a better early game, a better evolution system, and a charm system. However, the late game is significantly worse than vampire survivors due to poor scaling of the upgrades and money earned. It becomes grindy as you will be forced to repeat levels in order to earn enough money for getting upgrades that make it possible to beat most tier 6 rounds and all tiers above that. It lacks the explosive end game power creep that makes vampire…

Army of Ruin is the gaming equivalent of ordering fast food at 2AM. You know its not sophisticated, but it hits the exact spot you needed without asking anything of you. Turn off your brain, mash through waves of enemies, and suddenly thirty minutes vanish like fries at the bottom of the bag.

This is my favorite bullet heaven so far. Everything in the game is very polished and balanced and you can get very creative with the builds. It is straight to the point pure bullet heaven done really well. I have played megabonk, vampire survivors, Halls of Torment and Chuminis and this is my favorite in the genre so far.

The game is actually a pretty fun, however there is a single gameplay flaw that kills gameplay. There is no ability to reroll rewards, and there is no ability to banish rewards. In addition to this, the unlocks in the game depend on leveling specific rewards. This means that after the first few runs, the game turns into and RNG grind fest. Need to level a specific weapon to level 5? Get ready to do a bunch of runs leveling to the point where you have 3 weapons and get a pull for your 4th that…

Vampire Survivors clone with most mechanics being pretty much the same. Instead of evolving weapon with a specific trinket (as in VS) each trinket infuses an element and you need 2 specific elements to evolve a weapon. At first I thought this seemed restrictive, but compared to VS it allows for more varied builds and you can mix up the trinkets and still evolve all your weapons. The need to traverse large distances to fight optional (does not feel optional) bosses is a slog and travelling…

The gameplay is great and it's, to the best of my knowledge, one of the first survivors-likes to come around after Vampire Survivors. The graphics are cute, which is a nice change of pace. Only thing I don't like is there's no auto-select for gold once you've maxed all your skills, so level ups are kinda tedious at that point due to animations. That won't happen for a while, though, on non-endless runs. It's a completed game, so don't jump in expecting new content; I haven't had any issues…

It's sad that this one didn't take off. It is at the very least competent and stable. The elemental infusion system is far easier to understand than the "guess the synergy and try to remember it" mechanic of VS and others. If this had gotten the support (and co-op) VS recieved I easily would have preferred it, but as it is it's still a fun game to spend at least as much time as the cost of the game would be worth.

Army of Ruin is an engaging bullet-heaven action roguelite that carves a place for itself in the increasingly crowded genre popularized by titles like Vampire Survivors. Developed by Milkstone Studios, the game embraces the chaotic charm of screen-filling enemy waves, over-the-top spell effects, and fast-paced progression, all while adding its own flair with a structured meta-progression system, class-based characters, and a polished, stylized presentation. It doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it…

A simple but effective trick that we use in #Ziggurat2 and to a lesser extent in #ArmyOfRuin is to blend grunge textures (using a 3D noise pattern) to add more detail/variation to the environments. #gamedev #indiedev #Unity3D #madewithunity https://store.steampowered.com/app/1159560/Ziggurat_2/

The art, animations and UI all combine to make it feel like a bad mobile game. If you want a better bullet heaven game, get Conquest Dark or Not Another Zombie Survivor. Both are mind-blowingly good representations of the genre.

Sometimes you play a game that just makes you go, “These people really understand game design.” Army of Ruin is one of those. The central premise of this game seems to have been, “What if Vampire Survivors had every single quality-of-life update you could possibly imagine?” Unlike almost every other VS clone I’ve played, this is a VS clone that’s better than the original pretty much across the board. The UI is better, the menus are clearer, everything is beautifully organized, there are…

This game is absolute junk, a copycat of Vampire Survivors without understanding anything about why that game was successful. First of all, it completely lacks the power scaling aspect. Upgrades are insanely expensive, and level-ups are not significant. Evolutions sometimes feel decent, but most feel underwhelming. And this isn't accounting for the amount of work you have to do to get them. That's the worst part of all. Weapon evolutions are based on elements gained with passives. However, the…

It's like Vampire Survivor but in 3D and less fun. Doesn't seem balanced and the game is very very repetitive. Basically you have to do the same maps with increased difficulty over and over again and accomplish challenges which unlock new weapons, artefacts and characters. Most of the time you won't be able to fully upgrade your weapons because the time limit runs out. Ennemies seems too resistant which make them slow to kill which in turn make the game slow and boring. You don't really see a…

Its not a bad game by any means. It just falls into the "another vampire survivor clone" category for me. It does everything good, but nothing really unique about the game. ...But I already 100% Vampire Survivors, Halls of Torment, Death Must Die, Yet Another Zombie Survivors, and several others... The game is like a cuter and simpler version of Vampire Survivors. But I think it's too simple and basic to my liking. On paper, it has everything that a survivor-like should have: a lot of weapons and characters, evolutions, meta progression perks, option to increase the gamespeed. But it lacks something special to keep my interest during the runs. I feel like I cannot fulfill the power fantasy, where I become the bullet hell for monsters and just explode screens. To the new Players: Ever build a loadout so broken that you can literally walk away from your keyboard without worrying you'll take a single hit? That is the Army of Ruin experience. This is a solid bullet hell with a fun arsenal, making weapons like the Ink Geyser and Lightspark a blast to build around. The core loop is addictive, but be warned: you have to grind weapons you might not even like in previous runs just to unlock their true potential later. It is definitely a good time, though the…

Army of Ruin suffers from two significant flaws: 1) Design. The entire time I was playing I was wondering when a popup would start asking me for credit card information or if I want to watch an advertisement for +.6 seconds of increased gambler's high. The visual style, from the characters to the menus, have the appearance of a highly polished (derogatory) whale-hunting mobile game. It may not be Milkstone's fault that mobile "game" devs turn their players into lever-pulling rodents, but aping…

Casual, minimally involved game that has a lot of chance in how each run will go. Game runs super smooth on a M4 MBA and has full controller support. Intuitive and easy to play. I wish a couple early rolls didn't decide how the whole run will play out- but sometimes you win because of random chance and sometimes you get crushed despite picking the best options available. Frustrating, but it comes with the genre. Honestly, a fun but fairly mindless way to relax. 8.5/10

Grade: B Army of Ruin does something most bullet hells don't bother with — it gives a damn about how it looks. A dark fantasy fairy tale aesthetic that immediately sets it apart from the sea of pixel art survivors flooding the genre. The vibrant color schemes against chaotic enemy swarms shouldn't work as well as they do, but somehow the visual language actually helps you read the battlefield rather than fight it. That's a design win most games in this space fumble completely. I've seen enough…

Starts slow but there is a lot to do. Yes... lot's of repetition but honestly that's just how it goes with these games. I wouldn't rate it the absolute best of the genre but it's towards the top. I did really enjoy the variety of characters and builds. The only real issue there is that the unlocks to reduce RNG come later in the game so there is a brief period of frustration when the RNG God's mess with you, but that's part of the fun right?
