The game could have been a pixel art version of "Might and Magic" or something similar to "Inscription"; however, it is actually a repetitive game with a very limited amount of possible strategy. The most irritating thing is that for each new level your deck starts from zero again and again and you have to beat - again and again - the same enemies with the same units. It is worth playing only with a podcast on the background

I wish I could recommend this game. It has some very nice artwork and ideas going on, and for 2 bucks on sale it's dirt cheap. Unfortunately this feels like it was developed by a team that was, to put it bluntly, very good at making a game but not at designing a game. If I had to boil the disappointment down to a single issue, I think it's that your choices don't matter. You technically use resources to walk around the map and upgrade your character, but you're showered with so many of them…

No depth and huge disapaintment. There is no need of changing strategies etc. and you just do the same over and over again without any real reason behind it. I can't get any fun out of this.

Interesting Game Design. Doesn't Entirely Translate to Epic Fun I like a lot of the ideas and concepts presented here. From the world exploration, to the unit commanders with different abilities, to the linear 4 zone battle arena. Additionally, the pixel art was very nice and flavorful. The base game play loop is fun but becomes extremely repetitive over the course of a single clear. Aside from a handful of rare occasions, very few enemy encounters will cause to you do anything different…

This was a really tough one. It's not a bad game, but there are a lot of roguelikes and, for me, this just didn't do it. After just over 3 hours, I'm bored... I spent over 80 hours on The Last Hex by comparison.

I dislike autobattlers but like commanding skeletons. That said, the strategy is shallow, the units are unbalanced, the usual problem of diluting your unit pool with trash via unlocks is there, and the strategic layer has very little variety in encounters.

Quaint small game. The best thing about this game is it's art, the gameplay loop is not good. Sure there is variety of units with various abilities, but almost all of them are awful and need elaborate setup to work or are not cost effective at all, which in a game like this where you want to get the most out of the least makes 95% of the cards useless. This would leave you with 3 cards that you would be using over and over for the entire duration of the game. out of 20 fights you will be having…

Not sure why people are giving this a bad review. I see people with three hours giving it a thumbs down and saying they beat the game and that it's boring... They're idiots. Eleven hours in and I feel like I haven't seen about half the game yet. It's a strategy game that, honestly, rewards patience too much. If you are patient and don't do anything foolish, it's a good game. Just like any other good game, it can be challenging or quite easy depending on how you play. It definitely needs some…

This is a weird little genre soup, it's part deckbuilder, part tactics game, part autobattler, and somehow all three of those ingredients actually blend together instead of fighting each other for control of the pot. The pitch is simple. The world is rotting, everyone's mad about it, and you, a skeleton wearing a crown, have decided the correct response to societal decay is more decay, but organized and with a deck of skulls.

For a $15 game, I'd give it 4/5 stars. For a $5 game, it's an absolute steal. Not too complex, and can be repetitive. But unless you're playing on the easiest difficulty, most challenges can't be overcome by throwing out the best units willy-nilly. There's a good amount of strategy and forethought required.

bosses require a specific playstyle did you build a cool army around archers, tough luck the enemy now spawns ontop of you and the only way to stop them is to rush forward so no win for you only charging forward with meaningless units is viable kinda sad, its not unfun, but if you can only build to victory in one way its not a game its a diceroll if you get what you need for the build its a very easy to win diceroll, but its still a diceroll instead of tactics or creativity

Here is my experience. It said to try it on novice difficulty, if you're new to the game. Fine, I can go harder later if I want. No, I can't. The game is epic-length. I'm nearing the end of the fifth act and I'm just so tired of fighting battle after battle. It's not a bad game, it's just really repetitive. I can't imagine playing this game a second time. At this point I'm tired enough of the game that I will probably just uninstall it before seeing the ending. Just don't care anymore. This…

It's decent, though it has some really questionable design decisions. The Steam comments mentioned it was too easy on easy mode which the game recommends, so I started on the second difficulty, and it has been fairly challenging. The biggest challenge has just been figuring things out though, which has not been particularly fun. My biggest complaint is some units just feel pretty useless, straight forward tactics generally are the best option. Once you get enough resources going you can start…

I got this game for two bucks and for two bucks its worth about maybe 5 hours. Tried a couple different strategies but overall the pacing feels off. Maybe I'm missing something but for a deckbuilder a lot of the cards just aren't worth using. It feels optimal to have like 10 cards in your deck so your draw is consistent--it allowed me to clear the whole map without much trouble; which is a big problem for me. I never felt the need to change my strategy or composition, so now I have hundreds of…

For the price, I guess it's OK. I've finished one "level" and the experience was a mix. On one hand, the way battles play out is novel, yet simple. I also had a few of "oh ♥♥♥♥ I'm going to lose" but then I barely pulled through, nice. The enemies are a little too simple and boring to fight after a while. Buying skeletons made no sense because of how many you are awarded for going into the graveyards.. like, an abnormally high not-sure-if-intended amounts. The first region was too easy,…

I loved my time with Necroking. I was immediately drawn in by the charming art style and it only gets better as you play and encounter more units/monsters. The individual sprite animations have so much life and quirkiness. For example: the sprites move across the board at different speeds depending on the unit type, so mounted skeletons advance to the next area a little faster than the walking skeletons. It shows so much love an care in it's small details that I just adored. I also loved the…

What's to love: - Adorable skeletons - Unusual combat system that supports interesting strategy - Lightweight yet engaging narrative - Engaging exploration - Good combat variety If you liked Loop Hero or Slay the Spire back when those were fresh and novel experiences, you'll probably get a kick out of this. It's slightly fiddly and there are a few rough edges here and there, but it's worth at least 3-4x the asking price imo. My only real complaint is that I've found a strategy that…

Quite fun for a rather random game. An interesting autobattler deckbuilder combo that's rather on the easier side. It has some flaws like optional bosses that can't be touched by anything you have, but overall it's a smooth and engaging experience. As for the game mechanics and they are pretty simple and straightforward. Unfortunately, there are many poorly designed elements and the overall experience is not good. The game lacks enough strategic elements to make you think about your choices; you can randomly choose cards and still win 99% of the fights. You end up facing the same types of enemies repeatedly, and almost all the fights you are forced to play add nothing to the experience, same enemies, same non-existent strategy... So, you end up doing the most efficient thing: choose any card randomly as quickly…

I feel like this is a good strategy game with very weird choices for the meta structure of moving between fights. There is no time limit on how long you can spend just roaming around clearing fights, the enemies only get stronger. How much stronger? No clue. Really hovering on that 'maybe' recommend, but the aesthetic and low price point tip it into a yes. You get to summon cute pixel-art skeletons and build a deck out of them, and the game was pretty solid and bug-free. My biggest issue is that every level 'resets' your deck. This is clearly for balance purposes but it makes every level into the same loop - grind the weak tiles, max out your starting mana, then play your entire deck on the first turn and win.

You are an undead lich on a quest to destroy an evil king. Each time you kill the king you get brought to a new level with a harder mini-boss to defeat each time to open the castle gates. The battle system is pretty easy to understand, and then break. Go around fighting tons of low level battles, upgrade your starting cards,…
