Such an amazing and fun game to play..gameplay is very easy or hard depends of your difficulty settings and on your own music :) ..mostly Melody will run as your music goes..if music is slower..Melody will walk and if it gets intense she run and if it gets even more intense she might just fly...she feel the rythm of the music that is played..i really recomand this game to play for relax or even as a hardcore party !! you will enjoy and love this game a lot…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you play on Windows, I can recommend this game. It's fun and has a nice rythm to it. However, since my main and only gaming platform is Linux, I cannot recommend this game. If you want to play this game on Linux, use Proton. Why? Because the game has a bug requiring you to symlink a path from your home directory into your system root for the game to run. The devs know about this bug for over a year (reported it in April 2021) and they just don't fix it. DO. NOT. BUY. THIS. GAME. if you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can hardly believe it! After all these years, revisiting this beautiful game made me realize that I never left a review—and it truly deserves one. This game holds such a special place in my heart. When I was 15, around 2017–2018, I was lucky enough to be part of an exchange program that took me to London for a year, something my school organized annually across Europe. Although I had family there, and part of my mother’s side is Irish, I found it really difficult to connect with other…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very specific recommendation, but if you have Aphantasia, this game is NOT recommended. Aphantasia is the inability to form a mental picture. One can remember things, but cannot remember them as an image, nor form a mental picture of something. Melody's Escape pretty much requires that you know what button has what colour and where it is located on your controller, which is basically impossible for me or anyone with Aphantasia. It's even more disturbing that it replaces red with…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hurts my eyes to play, causes eye strain. The game is fun, but it's not worth my eyesight.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little game that you can add your own custom music or music that you purchased and can listen to it while this game beats you down like a 4th grader trying to learn how to play the Tonette/Recorder. I like how the modding community has an array of different skins, themes, and hairstyles to make every playthrough unique and fun if one wants to change up the their custom experience. This game will challenge you and it make you question your life choices. It has everything from relaxing…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Requires improvements! Pros: Cute art style. The visuals look simple and decent. The game lets you pick any music you would like to play. The character can be modified and uploaded to the workshop. It can be relaxing if you don't care about messing up. The game doesn't stop if you mess up. It lets you continue playing regardless of your mistakes. Cons: The game seems to stutter every now and then, causing the player to miss passing the obstacle. The time counter seems bugged - it cannot count…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I tried a bunch of custom track like EDM genre for instance with lots of up and downs that should rhythm easy in games like that, but sadly, the inputs don't even match the beat which can throw me off easy when I try to match them. It's often too soon or too late and doesn't sync with the beat which can be very confusing or quite a let down. Sometimes I feel like I should be pressing something at a certain time, but there is no color. That's pretty weird. I am sure the game works best…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent "generate-to-your-music" rhythm game. Coming back to the original Melody's Escape after my disappointment in the sequel, I see what the sequel could've been, if it combined the gameplay of the original with the updated tracking and new visuals of the sequel. This game is decent, but I find intense mode a little unfun and the lower difficulties boring. In 2015 when I first played this title I'd have recommended it, but now it finds itself in an awkward spot where I can't recommend nor the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bro I wasn't expecting this. I have so many mp3 files and damn does the game do a great job of making them into levels.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been trying to perfect the songs in my catalog, but the game prioritizes high scores over perfection and there's not a setting to change this, which means that the multiple times I perfected a difficult song were overwritten by a "better" high score, which is incredibly frustrating and means it's hard to keep track of songs and de-incentivizes replaying songs. I like the game otherwise but this is so frustrating it really upsets me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept is nice; it just gives me really bad headaches, especially on faster paced songs. The idea of incorporating your own music is fantastic, just executed poorly. My vision is all wonky just from one session.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THE GOOD: + Pretty graphics. + Stellar audio quality. + Autoplay makes a good screen saver. + Tempo Analysis can warn players ahead of time how well a custom song is integrated into a level. + Customization isn't limited to just music: you can adjust a level's speed, respawn time, button presses regardless of difficulty, etc. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: - Custom maps will have button-presses that don't match a beat or note in a song. - Anyone with FPS issues may have to look elsewhere: this game doesn't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Next BBLC game Melody's Escape generates a rhythm track to whatever music you throw at it, I put Snow Halation in there and it pulled an unexpected trick at just the PERFECT time and if you like those two things you must try it
unlabelledView post →This game is SO addictive with it's challenging music generated tracks. Most songs work well with it, but I find that Electronic music, Techno or anything that has a prominent beat work the best. The game won't reject a song that doesn't work well, it will just make the track based on 'energy peaks' rather than beats per minute. Also, it helps if you know the song that you're going to play; don't just randomly play a song, listen to it first. All of this is just my personal opinion, it might…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing, especially with custom music. It's a fun little side scrolling rhythm game with both easy & hard modes, and a visual (auto play) mode as well. It's more fun (for me at least) with more complex songs, but nice relaxing songs are also enjoyable. I would totally recommend this game if you like music games (like this), and is really fun to play with custom music. If you get the game and don't have any music of your own, feel free to use the songs on my Google Drive for a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game. I remember this game looked really cool back in its day since not much music game back then could customize out-game musics. Feel nostalgic:) Although the play any musics 100 achievement feel a bit too much even with short songs. 7/10. Also Main menu music sound really good and still rock hard.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros (4) Good Music. Custom soundtrack support. Animations that kept me interested. Workshop support, with a good amount of mods. Cons (1) Sometimes it lags. Which is very disheartening when you are on a good streak then you get messed up due to something completely out of your control. Don't ask me how a 2d platformer lags either. i can and have played much more intensive games without any issue. Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz Concusion The pros i have listed are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →has a cool visual style that may cause EYESTRAIN in some players. definitely reminds me of the old ipod adverts yeah maybe you know what i'm talkin about also like. the big thing about this game is that u can play along to mp3s on ur computer but like. the function is not great for most music tbh maybe the new one has a better means of figuring out how to assess beats in player's songs but considering this has only like. four (maybe five?) songs that it comes with that are made by humans to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Of the Play Your Music games this is one of the very few that are actually trying to use the music to generate the courses and this is the only one that the levels frequently feel handmade. Sure there are algorithm killers (looking at you FREEDOM DiVE↓) but those are edge cases. Something I'd like to see changed/added would be to use an in memory copy of the audio for playback to avoid slow (think NAS, optical media) storage stutters. For the second game perhaps?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very sweet and easy going game to relax time with and play as you listen to your music collection. The game has a very high compatibility with most music that has a steady tempo and the bundled in free music is very catchy and fun to play through too. The heart of this game is the nostalgia trip that it can easily take you through as you move on from the bundled free music to your own collection; I let Melody's Escape free play through my entire collection and then it hit all of the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun relaxing game... at relaxing difficulty. Your mileage may very if you play it at a harder difficulty. It's got simple gameplay mechanics, and an innovative music analyzer. Making any MP3 file an intense escape. I recommend Dec. by PUFFY AmiYumi from their 2001 album SPIKE if you have it. It's an amazing visual thrill run.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game, when a track is well made the controls are satisfying & I like the energy provided by running and jumping obstacles, however the main selling point (automatically creates a track for any song you put in) the game isn't very good at: -often the input times the game wants are delayed compared to the song, feeling unnatural & unsatisfying, you have to consciously hold back from pressing the keys on the beat -doesn't really recognise input times for faster music in a satisfying…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ordinarily Rhythm games are not my thing, I have nothing against them I just suck at them, however this game looked a lot of fun when I saw the trailer and the fact you can add your own music into it which it uses to create a unique map for each song going by a variety of factors which means that no 2 songs you play will ever be the same, so this game technically has endless replay-ability which makes it a extremely good value for money game. The only drawback for some people will be that it…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't play any mode other than relaxed guess "Just Bad". But Relaxed is super fun in itself where you can just chill and jam out to the music while hitting the correct order. All while watching Melody fly through the air. On top of that the devs added so you can play any track of music you want, which means you have unlimited music options the game adjusts for every song. Buy it, you need it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a pretty worthwhile drummer and I'm pretty sure I'm hitting the keys in rhythmic sync with the built-in Shirobon songs. While the WASD triggers are perfectly fine, the up/down/left/right triggers are just... off... Every like 1 out of 4 is just on a weird moment in the song, not on a note or a bar, and that's on easy mode. It's jarring, and that's exactly what it's not supposed to be. So yeah, maybe it's me somehow (as I don't see this mentioned), but I get frustrated and annoyed because…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of my favorite rhythm games ever! The track generator is very good, and the difficulty is very customizable. It's pretty much therapeutic to listen to your favorite music, while running and jumping to the rhythm. Since I got this game, it has been one of my main 'go to' when I need to take off some stress and relax. It's always so exciting to try out a new song and see how it goes.
