unlabelledView post →I’m going to play through this fab #Commodore64 #C64 budget title by Richard Darling… THE MASTER OF MAGIC. IT’s still a brilliant game to play, and what fabulous music by the great Rob Hubbard 👏😃🎶 #Commodore64Ultimate #FREEZE64
unlabelledView post →#LogLoads64 The Master of Magic One of my all-time favourite #C64 games, MoM is a wonderful example of a budget game done right. Again, you have to load from cassette to see this loading pic, the title pic is also decent (See below). Rob Hubbard's tune, Richard Darling's vibes. Play this now.
unlabelledView post →Ahh, one of my most meaningful gaming collection goals is complete. If, I promised myself, we ever picked up a Commodore 64 again (which we did last month), then the first RPG I ever played would be one of the games I'd own too: Mastertronic's Master of Magic. 💜
unlabelledView post →I can only wish this game was more of a phenomenon than it is. I understand these are not the days when PC gaming was so focused that a release such as Master of Magic was a major cultural touchstone, but still, AoW4 deserves a larger fanbase and a long life. A very good entry into a storied series.

unlabelledView post →What I'd really like to see is a game in the vein of the canceled Mech Lords/Metal Lords/Mech Wars game that Simtex (Master of Magic, Master of Orion) was working on. That's much larger scope that what you're talking about though :). www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5Hp...
unlabelledView post →I suddenly want to play a new "Masters of Orion" or "Master of Magic" type strategy game. No idea why.
unlabelledView post →I am vacillating between two strategy games that have long since fallen out of memory to many. MASTER OF ORION (basically it was once *the* turn based interstellar strategy game) and WARLORDS (which was once *the* turned based fantasy wargame (I would be tempted also by MASTER OF MAGIC)

unlabelledView post →Well, it was 1994 but Master of Magic. Civilization. I played Civ 1 way back in 1991. A text based game on the TI99 called "Pirate Aventure".
unlabelledView post →The game is Elemental Reforged (think Civ + Master of Magic with Conan world vibes), an old school favorite currently being remastered. It’s currently in beta, but playable enough to hold my attention in a very good way
unlabelledView post →As evidenced by the fact it took four attempts to load Master of Magic. ;o; I have modern flash/SD/Wi-Fi game loading options for our C64, but still enjoy loading faves from tape. Even if successfully doing so is only about 80% and requires rituals and prayer.
unlabelledView post →Ring, Ring, answer the telephone! Managed to last a luxurious fifteen minutes overall in a fresh run of an early C64 RPG I'm very fond of and played as a wee thing: Mastertronic's Master of Magic. Cracking theme and in-game tune and simple but effective graphics that evoke classic ROGUE.
unlabelledView post →2/2 <<< BRILLIANT book Rob Hubbard: Master of Magic (Google for purchase links). It is now one of my favourite RH SID tunes. The game is OK. I prefer Bump, Set, Spike! Which also has not one, but two exceptional RH SIDs. Go nuts, get your nipples out, or not and thwack that ball!
unlabelledView post →I think it’s a) Minecraft. b) Giving players control without extra hoops (crafting NPCs). c) Magic users crafting magic items is well established. Master of Magic - strategy game with roleplaying elements - had crafted magic items back in the 1990s.
unlabelledView post →What’s your “no one but me remembers game?” Master of Magic, the original. I still have my 3.5" installation disks around here. It's playable on Steam now if you use DOSBox, but not very.
unlabelledView post →My first video game RPG was a Commodore 64 budget game called Master of Magic. I was getting into the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks and it felt like one of those come to life. Awesome music from Rob Hubbard.

unlabelledView post →Aha, they did, but nope, it's an 8-bit budget RPG-lite game called The Master of Magic. Certainly D&D inspired but as to what kind of rolls it might do for combat, if any, I have no idea.
unlabelledView post →Master of Magic is one of my all-time favorites, and still my go-to 4X game when I have hours to kill!
unlabelledView post →Master of Magic is easily one of my Top 10 favourite games, so I’m super excited to check this one out! Also, making a 4X game as a solo developer is an insane feat. Congratulations, Aleksandr, on shipping!
unlabelledView post →I had another winner of the Guess What Happens Next contest I held in my webcomic, but had to wait until the big reveal to let them know. The winner asked me to draw their avatar, who is a character from an old PC game called Master of Magic
unlabelledView post →Broken Alliance, is an indie turn-based adventure strategy game with RPG elements, inspired by old-school classics like King's Bounty, Heroes of Might and Magic, Age of Wonders, Master of Magic... all with a fresh deckbuilding twist. store.steampowered.com/app/1704180/...
unlabelledView post →Decided to experiment with a Pentium 4 motherboard specially manufactured for industrial control systems that use ISA cards. It was not as easy as throwing sound and video cards in and powering on, no... Master of Magic is a difficult game to get running with both sound effects and music.
unlabelledView post →An impressive game, and a rare game where you can field an army of dire penguins. It was basically Master of Magic updated to 1999 standards and played as a series of scenarios instead of the Civilization style sandbox gameplay.
unlabelledView post →Streaming some DOScider- Ranking of DOS games. Got a request to look at Master of Magic, the fantasy-themed strategy game from Simtek (Master of Orion) twitch.tv/Ilyon_
unlabelledView post →Master of Magic by Simtex. It was the first game for me with the ‘one more turn effect’. It was a genre defining title for turn-based strategy games. I was a student at the time and have a lot of good memories from this game. Later came a good follow-up in this genre called ‘Age of Wonders’.
unlabelledView post →Have been spending a LOT of time lately playing Master of Magic. I’ve been playing this video game for over 30 years now. Still totally absorbs me. I really should have figured out I was autistic a long time ago 🤣🤣🤣
unlabelledView post →Playing Master of Magic today... (yeah, super up-to-date lol). I always find funny that, of the 3 summonable giants in the game (stone, fire and storm giant), the stone giant has a cute ponytail and pink flowers all over them 🌸🌸😊😊 Absolute icon for me, tbh
unlabelledView post →If you want a 4X with magic, Master of Magic did that. I played the heck out of it when I was younger. Best (legal) cheat was using the wizard portrait of the one wizard that started in the second world so you had the entire place to yourself for the early game.

unlabelledView post →Post a game you got for Christmas. Master of Magic, like Civilization mixed with D&D. This is Rjak, my chosen wizard, loaded up with death magic and leading orcs. Later I'd take humans and make wraithform paladins, a hilariously broken combo, resistant or immune to weapons and magic.

unlabelledView post →damn, I miss that game. and am on a Linux box these days, so probably can't even play it. It and Master of Magic were probably my favorites in the wayback.

unlabelledView post →Haha, yes indeed! I was introduced to 'Master of Magic' by @davem3393.bsky.social back in the day and we both played it quite obsessively for a while, using all 14 wizards against each of the others to wring every ounce of variation out of it! 🤪😎 Great game!
unlabelledView post →I still play Master of Magic from time to time. I loved that game so much. It was absolutely top of the 4x heap.
unlabelledView post →Master of Magic for the Commodore 64. This whole game was a vibe. Between the very atmospheric Ron Hubbard theme tune to the pixel art, I could never bring myself to actually play this one as a kid, I'd have to watch my older brothers play instead and even then it spooked me.
unlabelledView post →Recommended. I haven't played the "Shadow Magic" expac previously mentioned, but even the base game feels like a spiritual successor to Master of Magic. Also very biased, though, because MoM is my favorite game of all time.
unlabelledView post →8/9 - Age of Wonders (Had to mention it in light of UI dragons). A game that took the magical army battles of Master of Magic a step further with beautiful, lush graphics and a sprawling story. A real evolution of the idea. The hero-building alone provide a world of options! #365games
unlabelledView post →Master of Magic is definitely up there too, no question. A role playing game with combat for three quid? (as it was a first generation MAD release) A bargain for definite. Even if Rob Hubbard channelled his inner Larry Fast for the theme tune.
unlabelledView post →Well, now KS2 is a cracker, but, I would always prefer the ponderosa faux arcade action of The Master of Magic... Not least, again, because I'd do my homework to the music THEN play it for half an hour. Thinking person's game. The Kikstarts were very good, mind you.

unlabelledView post →Looking through my game library in search of comfort games. Tried the Master of Magic remake (which I genuinely enjoy!). It crashed twice in 10 minutes though. Guess it's Cook, Serve, Delicious 3 for me.
unlabelledView post →I'd also be remiss not to mention the classic Master of Magic, probably my favorite 4X game still and yet another one that's been copied and remade, but never equaled. It's like classic Sid Meier's Civ on steroids. I've conquered its world many times! #gaming #retrogames #retrogaming #videogames
unlabelledView post →The last good Sid Meier Civilization game was Master Of Magic in 1994 which is very impressive since Sid Meier didn't have anything to do with it.
unlabelledView post →That's why Master of Magic needed a rerelease, so it could resume being the greatest game of all time
unlabelledView post →Woah, this looks amazing! Getting Demon’s Winter and Master of Magic vibes and just generally looks like my perfect c64 game 😎
unlabelledView post →since Bee likes 4x like civ5, then Master of Orion 2 could be a good option. Master of Magic, basically fantasy master of orion is my 2nd fav game of all time
unlabelledView post →Heavily skewed towards childhood & adolescence, obviously. FF1 and DW3 were formative RPGs. Star Control 2 was the first game I lost myself in. I was fascinated by Master of Magic at my friend's house, finally got it for my underpowered 486 years later.
