There are other games to do the mine, defend loop better. Having to go into my inventory to switch between my drill and gun is annoying. The reviews say its a very slow burn and takes a long time to get the unlocks to build out base and that its about 80% drilling and 20% tower defense and that something you feel pretty quickly. I personally need a bit more action or at least other things to do for that other 80% of the game. I can see the appeal but it's not for me

Buyer beware: The demo is more fun than the full game. In the demo you leap directly into play, digging right away and getting upgrades/building things. But the campaign is this very slow mismash of systems; you have a hub but apparently can't buy anything. Problems I found were mostly to do with pacing of the campaign: - You earn pink currency from missions but only as rewards; not what you actually mine in the missions. - You seemingly never earn brown currency which is needed for guns, so…

Right. I need to tell you about this game. And I need you to stop what you’re doing, because what I’m about to describe should not work. On paper, it is the gaming equivalent of a man walking into a Michelin-starred restaurant in tracksuit bottoms and ordering a full English. And yet. You are a person with a drill. That’s it. That is the entire pitch. You have a drill, there’s dirt everywhere, and somewhere underneath all that dirt is probably something worth having. It’s essentially what…

This game to put it simply, is a diamond in the rough. it has an addictive and fun gameplay loop with its exploration and resource gathering mechanics. Most of the environment is destructible via the use of a drill, that you use to carve out tunnel systems and cave networks. you also use this for gathering your essential resources that you use for building a base, getting new gear, and also upgrades. You also have to fight off local hostile fauna (giant bugs) that attack you in waves with…

Overall the game seems fun, but the inventory management system is just way too complicated and while I may continue to play, I can't recommend this game to anyone until that's been overhauled. Plus while I've only seen three bugs, those I've encountered have been so disruptive that I don't understand why they're not addressed.

Don't get me wrong, it is fun. But the gameplay loop gets boring fast. You are going to do the exact same thing in every single map and the challenge is simply nonexistent. I have fallen asleep many times playing this and woke up to my base still standing despite no upkeep on defenses.

What to expect: 2 hours frustration with learning curve, 6-8 hours enjoyment, then tediousness because of very poor pacing in game design. If the base-building aspect appeals to you, try playing "Against the Storm" instead. Review by numbers Control/Mechanics: 4/5 Graphics: 5/5 Sound 4/5 Pacing/Game Design 1/5 The pacing problem is the entire campaign is structured like a tutorial. To the developers: there's a bug, where if you 'retry' a campaign, you "lose" all your upgrades. Have to go back to the "base" and then retry from there. Review: I played the demo when it came out pre-release. I liked it. I also got bored fast. I waited for a sale because I am cheap. Lumencraft is a game with few mechanics (dig 2 minerals [lumens and iron], build towers, fight bugs, and avoid the only environmental hazard of LaVaaAaaaA). It gets boring fast. Good to play in small…

Do you like mining minerals like in Terraria? Do you enjoy the Tower Defense genre? Do you also like the crafting aspect of the survival genre? Do you like base management? Well this game has them all as a jack of all trades but master of none. However, it all comes together to create a nice little gem that shines in what it does best. If you like all those things, then this game might just be right for you. It's like Terraria in that the game requires you to drill for minerals. Unlike…

Not sure I can recommend it for £16.99. I didn't finish the campaign but got about 2/3 of the way through it and feel like I've seen everything and am now quite bored. The first hours were great but it becomes a very slow burn with not much different over the levels. Feels like it just needed more development and stuff added to it, really.

Not recommended Due to the simple fact the damage you do by comparison to the bullet sponge units are obnoxious. I've seen videos where you need 12 turrets, but a completely walled off base by wave 10 to survive upper level enemies or Heavies. I didn't look, but i'm gonna guess fully tiered turrets as well. I ran into a big guy on wave 7 so earlier. Pulled him to 2 turrets which were T3. The turrets struggled, my maxed pistol did nothing. When he finally died? He fell on me and I got a game…

I wish I could remember the streamer's name who said it, but they said this is the perfect podcast game, which I totally agree with. It's not overly complicated, and its simplicity is not such that it gets stale too quickly. I find myself constantly coming back to it when I want to play something that has both tower defense and RPG elements. Also, there's always the chance of finding a lumen gun in one of the randomly generated maps, which is not always guaranteed, but when found is a lot of…

Ignore all reviews that say the demo is better than the full game, its complete nonsense. The campaign gameplay is different to the demo gameplay, that is true. Just dont play the campaign, theres a very good random map generator that lets you play exactly what the demo showed off. You drop into a randomly generated map and instantly get to mining and progressing by advancing your base and research. It even lets you choose between different win conditions, with the default being surviving waves…

This game is a cool concept, but sadly it just feels way too clunky. How they arrange the slots on your screen is not only a bit confusing at first, but they also disappear over time so you have no visual reminder about what item was in what slot. And only having hotkeys for four slots is way too little. Navigation feels like a chore at times, and the game doesn't satisfyingly communicate info to the player.

This game is close to a good game, but it's not. - Lava is annoying, no real way to deal with it - Bedrock walls are annoying to deal with, because they surround lava and resources, and you can't break it to your advantage. - Lack of enemies - Campaign detracts from the main genre of the game. We played 2 missions and was like wtf is this, and then did a base defense mission - Research is annoying and too random. There are too many "Good" "Useful" things hidden behind tech and the RNG of…

The tutorial should have been a warning to me of what to expect; the game just presumes you know what an object/structure is without any kind of highlight/instruction, which is what you spend time going through the tutorial FOR. I'd had enough by the 5th mission. It's just unpleasant to play. The inventory management is a nightmare and the combination of time limits and labyrinthine levels mean progress hinges on trial and error rather than strategic use of the tools you're provided with.

This is a really solid tower defense game with excellent replayability. It's not crazy expensive, and the value for your gaming dollar is really incredible. It also supports changing the keyboard layout seamlessly (for COLEMAK or DVORAK users), which not all games do. It appears to have side-by-side play options for two people to play on the same screen, which is cool (although I have never played that way). (And there is no in-game currency with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pay-to-win, which is refreshing)

Mining feels and plays great. But Dev forgot to explain the game in the "tutorial" (end air quotes). At the moment I have no idea how that "inventory" works, how to equip weapons, or the objective of, well, anything. I refuse to go to youtube or guides. The game needs to do that work, needs that quality of life. I will change my recommendation then. Mining really feels damn good. Playing on Steam Deck.
