Lost Planet 3 (ロスト プラネット 3, Rosuto Puranetto 3) is a third-person shooter action-adventure video game developed by Spark Unlimited and published by Capcom for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game is a prequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and Lost Planet 2, and takes place on the same planet of E.D.N. III. The game takes a more story-driven narrative approach to the campaign similar to the… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

The gameplay is okay, But they forced it to be something it wasnt. This was never meant to be a deadspace ripoff but here we are . . The last Lost Planet, Murdered cause some loser who had power at the time decided to change the formula.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →13 year old game so it will have it issues. If it helps future players on the PC. When you have to shore up the locks in first mission and it says turn the arm with "WASD" hit F instead. When your fighting enemies in the RIG and you arm block and grab and cant see the red spot to drill try pushing forward. It was a great time waster with a good story, and I think held up fairly well for it's age.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost Planet 2 was amazing ( and still is ), but this was not a good successor. They has something that worked incredibly well and exchanged it for a painfully slow, people based game that lost my interest by the time I left the base for the first time.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm shocked that this game has such poor reviews. I had a blast with it. To start with, the gameplay is somewhat unique, not anything revolutionary, but certainly a bit different from the last 50 or so games I've played. It seems that the developers tried to combine cover shooter with survival horror as well as mech combat. For me it worked. There are a few problems though. There is a moderate amount of quick time events and sometimes they are fun, something quite annoying. Enemy variety is…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get it on sale. not the most amazing game and defo a victim of its era in gaming 2012 ish games. but it has enjoyable enough characters and some neat gameplay and story ideas. not as good as lost planet 1 Lost Planet is like a beautiful quirky Anime OVA and Lost Planet 3 is the tropey western netflix adaption.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I almost skipped this completely because of the reviews, which in hindsight would have been a mistake. It slows things down a lot compared to lost planet 1 & 2 but instead of hurting it, that actually gives it room to breathe and feel more grounded. It is not as loud or explosive as the others but it is way more consistent and with lost planet 2 losing its co op, this might be the best one in the series now. Definitely one of those games that got judged way harsher than it deserved.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From time to time, I feel the urge to try out bad games, simply because they have some premise interesting enough to stay lodged in the back of my mind for years, buried by common sense and my occasional lack of tolerance, only for the interest to resurface out of nowhere, and I, in the hope of finding something flawed yet different, end up giving in to temptation. Games like Kane and Lynch 2 (which I kind of like), Deadly Premonition, Inversion, NeverDead, Remember Me, and so on. An endless…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is bad dead space 3. dead space 3 is not a particularly good game. additionally: poorly ported to PC. not necessarily in terms of performance, but absolutely in terms of keyboard layout. no human decided that the hotkey for picking up items -- a button that you will need to press in combat when fighting akrid in small arenas that you are locked in to get more ammo -- should be P, on the opposite side of the keyboard from every other button you're pressing. and the tooltip for turning…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🧊❄️ LOST PLANET 3 IS A ICE-COLD BUGGY MESS OF A TITLE THAT AGED WELL REVIEWED ON: (GeForce GT 1030/i7-3770 ) This is a prequel to the events of Lost Planet 2 and the first game, pretty much explains how it all begins. Lost Planet 1 is available on Steam, but the second game got taken down. Read a lot of negative reviews and can relate, this game is very different from the first two. And while it's true combat is not the best although in a third-person Dead Space 3 shooter perspective,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is one of the worst games I've ever played. Everything is designed in a way to just eat up your time with Monotonous BS, Map transitions are loading screens, door openings might as well be loading screens. This game has you backtrack everywhere. The weapons feel awful to use, and you'll be traveling around in a mech for most of the game. That walks at the pace of a tortoise. Another thing that many have already said is that this game loves quick-time events. This is another mechanic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel like this game was always seen as bad or mid for some reason, which I never understood why. Gameplay wise, there's nothing wrong with this game, it's the best of the series, as they went for a non linear, non arcade gameplay, and focusing on storytelling, and in this category, they did follow the lore, expanded well on it, even made it make a bit more sense. As for why many people dislike it, I think is the huge change in gameplay, and the fact that the game is hard, unforgiving, even,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played both Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and Lost Planet 2 quite a lot, they were the first two games I got with my Xbox 360 back in the day and I played them to death, they are incredibly good games, granted a little dated gameplay wise but are still great fun. I cannot say the same for Lost Planet 3. I completed the game in 2016 on Xbox One via backwards compatibility and did not enjoy it so I wanted to give it another shot 10 years later and I just could not play it, the controls…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost Planet 3 serves as a narrative prequel to the original games, shifting focus from large-scale action to a more character-driven story. The plot follows Jim Peyton, a contract worker on the frozen planet E.D.N. III, as he balances corporate obligations with personal survival. The tone is grounded, emphasizing isolation, resource scarcity, and distrust of the company in control. Gameplay blends third-person shooting with utility missions. Combat against Akrid creatures uses weak-point…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How do you make a sequel and yet learn NOTHING from previous entries? Gone is the smooth movement Gone is the fun and over the top combat, instead replaced with cover based shooting? Against giant bugs?? Gone is the grappling hook which can be freely used anywhere, in both mobility and combat Gone are the diverse mix of interesting bosses, instead it's giant crab over and over Gone are the tonnes of different satisfying weapons, in favour of a handful of slow, impactless guns, with insanely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Huge departure from the first two games, but makes up for it in its overall immersion, narrative, and voice acting. Fun fact: Two of the main writers for this game, Richard Gaubert and Matthew Sophos, went on to head up similar roles for the God of War reboots.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not bad but I liked the first part more, the characters and plot are much more interesting there than sitting here at the base
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't get the bad reviews, the game is not a goty but also not bad and the story is ok. I enjoyed it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun Gameplay Downside : hese boring uninspired characters never and I mean N E V E R shut the ♥♥♥♥ up. you get 20-30 minutes of action for every 15 minutes of listening to these annoying dweebs talk and talk and talk. OH and when it says to use WASD to move the valve thing just spam tap F.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls for both controller and keyboard/mouse are broken. I've spent a long time digging in the several wildly unorganized config files trying to edit and patch the game properly, but no matter what I do, I can't fix this. It's a crying shame really, since this was a great game for the XB360. I don't know who was in charge of porting this to PC, but they failed spectacularly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a good game and a massive downgrade over the first Lost Planet game and its sequel. Unlike the other two games this one wasn't developed by Capcom, it was developed by Spark Unlimited, a company Keiji Inafune was heavily partnered with once he left Capcom to form his own studio named Comcept. His involvement in this project isn't clear though, since he doesn't appear in the credits. What's clear for certain is that the game was handed over to them because of Keiji's push for Capcom to stop…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I uninstalled this game after an hour of it Reinstalled it 5 years later Was surprised to find out as the game progresses you eventually find out its really not that bad Don't think of it as a Lost Planet game think of it as a stand alone IP and judge the actual game-play and story itself Was shocked cause 5 years b4 i thought it was boring, but maybe thats me getting older Don't buy this sh*t tho without it being on |=SALE=|

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost Planet 3 on paper sounds super cool, it tries to be a more grounded version of the original Lost Planet games, you play as Jim Peyton, just your regular guy who's trying to make some moneys to help his family by adventuring in this planet in search of a new source of energy, and this is one of the strongest points how human the main character felt Despise my praises, I can't say the same for the story, I felt like I could predict the whole story on first 5 hours of the game, with that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, let's get into the controversial games now shall we? Did Lost Planet 3 kill off the franchise before it had a chance to really get going? Well, much like the actual game its a mixed bag. So lets, get into the pros and cons Pros- - Graphics- The weather effects, lighting, outdoor stage design etc. is even now 12 years later still awesome to see and look at. Character models while not terrible are very much running on Unreal 3 and you can see it, but they are by no means terrible.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I have to fight that crab ONE more time... On a more serious note, this game is up there in terms of worst PC game controls I've ever encountered. I mean 'P' to pick up objects? Come on.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Chilling Letdown... As a fan of the Lost Planet series, I went into Lost Planet 3 hoping for another epic adventure filled with thrilling Akrid battles, stunning environments, and cooperative chaos. Unfortunately, what I got was a game that felt stripped of the series’ identity and charm. Gone is the over-the-top action and exhilarating co-op gameplay that defined its predecessor. Instead, Lost Planet 3 leans heavily into a more narrative-driven approach, which might have been fine, if…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a terrible Lost Planet, but it's a really good mech game. If you like Titanfall or Suits from Love, Death and Robots, this game is for you. It makes you feel all cozy as you fight against the cold and monsters with your mech. I hated this back when it came out in 2012. I guess now that I'm older the slower pace is kinda nice. Interesting story, immersive menus, good sound design, decent combat, and some paced exploration. I can't recommend this enough. Solid 7.5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've never played any of the games in the franchise, and I don't think I'll ever do so again, because the game simply doesn't captivate me and fails in every aspect that I consider to be a good game... starting with the voice acting of the characters, every time one of them opens their mouth, it gives me a stroke. The gameplay is boring, forcing the player to walk with the character, where the character running doesn't seem to move in the same place, only the animation of him walking changes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THAT was a rollercoaster. So first, the good. The game has great atmosphere. The snowy storms, the heavy winds, the abandoned bases overran by Akrid. It was easy to immerse and feel the chill on my shoulders. The on-foot combat was partly cover-based, but overally didn't feel as cumbersome as classic cover shooters. Weaponry variety is nice. Story is fine enough. Graphics are fine. But who in their right mind decided it's a good idea to fight dangerous enemies... on a hostile planet... in an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is very very mid, honestly no wonder this game killed the franchise, first 8 hours is just go here kill crabs repeat, to make it even worst a boss that you need to kill to progress is apparently completely bugged out and is now immortal locking me out (yes even reloading last save checkpoint doesnt help at all) of progressing the campaing, literally unplayable, DO NOT BUY THIS TRASH EVEN IF IT IS ON SALE.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This campaign sucks ass.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A tepid mediocre experience from start to finish.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is definitely meant to be played using a controller, and first and foremost, if you are going to port something to PC, port it properly or don't bother, because these controls are terrible. Bugs, annoying ones, I had one where I kept beating a boss and the game would crash every time I tried to to proceed to the next area after, but it wasn't a crash, it said something about a log in change, so eventually I just took myself offline and made it past. There is an immortal grab glitch,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By far a heavily under rated game. Enjoyed the Music, Story line and game play. It's definitely an enjoyment on the Deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i got this for 5 bucks and i still feel cheated, id always heard that this game was bad and it killed the series... but man, i swear they didn't even expect people to make it to the 5 hour mark. The story is lacking if existent, the atmosphere is like they all played Dead Space 3, not 1 or 2 JUST 3 and somehow thought that was the target to shoot for. There was more enemy variety in the first mission of LP 2, and lastly i'm just disappointed in the 5 guns that exist and yet the standard…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty mid game. It wasnt the worst game i've played, but not the best. It retcons Lost Planet 2, so I see this as a sort or reboot. Graphics are nice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liked it better than the Callisto protocol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game.....but very different from the LP1 and LP2... You will id more action in LP1 and 2..... Grapping hook is less fun to use here....only hook one designated platform.... Lack of freedom compare to the previous 2 games... Overall a good game itself...if you dont expect and compare with the previous games..
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game softlocked after 8 hours, the character has no weapons, cannot shoot or interact. When trying to use the roll or cover action, player T poses and cannot move or do anything. No fixes online... game is bugged. DO NOT BUY.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost Planet 3 is the only one I played from the trilogy, so I can't really compare it to previous titles. It's a pretty safe, 3rd-person shooter. It still takes place on E.D.N. III, and the planet is pleasant to look at and has a solid atmosphere, really managing to sell a hostile, frozen wasteland. The story is generic, but it's not completely terrible, and Jim is an OK protagonist, even if he doesn't really stand out. The giant mech sessions that break the monotony are the highlight of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EDIT AS OF (April 2nd, 2026): First time in a long time I put down a game for good before I even got to finish it. Who in their right mind thinks having an endless swarm of tanky enemies that flank you AND fire projectiles in tight corridors, with zero downtime to recover is fun? I was really getting into the story, too, so it's a shame to me that I can't make any meaningful progress without restarting the entire campaign. I can't believe they gave the rights to another game to these guys. Even…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was ok, lot of loading screens
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the first two games i can confirm this is the stinker of the franchise, didn't even feel like a lost planet game, more like mech walking sim with some midass onfoot shooter sections. They give you a decent playlist to help make the walking a bit more bearable but its ♥♥♥♥♥♥ disabled for most of the game so whats the point.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I prefer to think of it as a new season of True Detective with Nic Cage.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't play on Windows 10 and windows 11 , I can only get it to work on Steam Deck,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is not really fun for me. Graphics are nice though Not sure about this one. I honestly think it's just mid lmao Take that info as you will.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have no prior experience with the Lost Planet series but the setting is interesting and has some mystery and charm. The gameplay however is average at best. I tried to enjoy the game but you spend most of your time just walking from A to B to C to B to A to B. Sometimes you walk on foot, sometimes you walk in your mech. And that walking is often interrupted by unnecessary long loading screens. The gameplay itself is then holding a button for way too long to repair something and some average…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best way to describe this game is Dead space 3 copied Lost Planet 3 Lost planet 3 copied dead space 3 They both were found dead in Venezuela from suicide. Also ♥♥♥♥ you Capcom for taking my boy away from me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not your traditional Lost Planet game, Westerner Story focused. The story is better than the last 2 lost planet games, game play is average. It does have a multiplayer & i heard its fun but it's dead. RIG cockpit music sucks, NPC's are actually interesting. The characters in this game are interesting, less akrid overall. It's a much more GROUNDED Lost Planet game, worth a play through. LP2 is still my favorite LP!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Frosty Tale of Survival and Sacrifice Lost Planet 3 takes a bold step in a new direction for the series, offering a prequel that trades explosive set-pieces for a more grounded and story-driven experience. While the shift isn’t without its flaws, it’s a thoughtful adventure that explores the harsh realities of surviving on a frozen, alien world. The narrative centers on Jim Peyton, a relatable everyman who leaves Earth to provide for his family by working as a contractor on E.D.N. III, a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Japanese devs when a Japanese game that isn't very Japanese is too Japanese: They make this in response... Or more accurately they get someone else to make it for them to make it more westernised. Lost Planet was never "too Japanese" that was never the issue with 1 or 2. Its not a bad game but it sucks this is how Lost Planet went out. If we got LP4 people wouldn't hate on this as much
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played the first two Lost Planet games, don't expect anything like either of them. An entirely different studio made the game, and took it from being a (co-op) action shooter with giant monsters, to trying really hard to make it some sort of man vs nature survival horror cover shooter. I think if it weren't attached to the Lost Planet IP, it would have stood a chance as a very mid third person shooter of the era, but due to it being a sequel, it makes the janky controls and animations…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a surprisingly entertaining little game. Sure, it's a bit wack at times, rushed towards the end, and mouse and keyboard sucks (using a controller is a must). But it had a bunch of quirky, well written dialogue, and had more charm than many tripple, or quadruple A titles from modern times.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is ok, its not bad, and its not great, its ok, definitely can see why some dont like it but its a thing, its just a weird style change and it was some weird times appealing to the west, but its fun overall.
