I understand if you make a family friendly game you don't want profanity, but if I manage to spell "deoxygenated" I want some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ credit for it.

Overall Rating - High Quality ★★★★☆ First Impressions I've already played and reviewed the regular version of Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered (LQR), and was a little surprised I had done so back in 2017. Back then I wouldn't have expected I'd wait so long before tackling this version, but time has a way of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/43083373/]Clever games curator review: 8/10. Scrabble RPG definitely captures a lot of what this game is, though it’s an imperfect analogy. While the entire game is spelling words from a limited set of tiles, there is none of the spatial strategy/crossword aspect of Scrabble here. At best there are various power ups you can purchase that give you boosts for things like spelling a word with two repeated letters, or ending with an S. Thus, if the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As others have said, this is very similar to Bookworm Adventures. Simple but still a lot of fun, especially when enemies start throwing various effects at you later on. EDIT: That said, it *reaaaaally* needs a better dictionary.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A novelty word game that plays out in short puzzles with a dungeon theme. Useful as a short time waster, but also highly repetitive. Fills the same niche as simple games like solitaire; just, with word puzzles instead of card patterns. --- Bottom line: Spelling practice with an RPG gimmick. --- [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/38232109/]While you are here, would you consider following my curator page? negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →my absolute favorite word game. it's like bookworm adventures but better because it has a built-in dictionary. and also because you can still buy this one. there's a demo to try as well. some levels seem tough or impossible at first, those are best tackled later, with more upgrades. it's worth noting (even though it's right next to the add to cart button) that buying the game gets you both the original and the remaster (hence my copy-paste review for both versions). not much point in playing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered is a puzzle adventure game.where the player must make words from a pool of available letters to defeat monsters and progress through the dungeon. I'm happy to pass on the game is fun to play and has quality game design which makes playing enjoyable. The presentation is lovely, with clean crisp 4k visuals. The artwork extends to the menus which look good and further show the care and effort that has been put into making this game. Audio is good with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thank my friend for giving me this game. Thank you! At first glance, I didn't know what to make of this game. The protagonists look like Martin the martian from Looney Tunes. But then I gave it a go. Now I can't stop playing! An excellent game for writers, lexical enthusiasts, letters-oriented people. In short, those that have Archangel Gabriel as their patron. Now, you play as Death / Grimm (or Azrael) and start the day by liberating your friends from the deadly goons of a mysterious boss…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is kind of nostalgic for me because I played the original version of it with my mom when she was still alive, so my review of the updated version is clearly going to be a thumbs up. It's a pretty fun word game, though the claims of being an RPG are pretty limited - it has some RPG elements, but having solid word game skill tend to be much more important than your specific stat choices, and you'll pretty much max out everything as you play through the game naturally. My only real…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mixed feelings. I love word games therefore the basic game here is up me alley. It does a fair job of adding objectives and twists to offer variety, but not a huge amount of care has been taken in the design in general. It's nowhere near as challenging or deep as bookworm adventures, whose soul it has stolen, (sadly still unavailable, through legal means, at least) while being more monotonous and loose in its balancing (a bad, conspicuous thing). Worst thing for me is the lack of difficulty,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Continuing on with my love of typing games, I stumbled upon Letter Quest. Typing of the Dead still (to this review, anyway) holds the title for the best typing game I've played, dare I say, better than All The Right Type. If you're looking to improve your vocabulary or challenge younger nephews with an RPG typing game, should be up your alley. The gameplay is quite straightforward and simple. Mouse and keyboard rules; mostly mouse to select and keyboard to type. Don't be fooled by how the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Requires far too much grinding, clearly. Enemies in later levels have ridiculous HP pools, and you take heavy damage. Stat upgrades can mitigate this, but they are so expensive. I did not get enough enjoyment out of the gameplay to continue playing to grind out upgrades to compete with ridiculous-statted enemies.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fought witches by spelling words - now I know how to write “epic” and “I survived.” Letters are my heroes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well... It's OK. This is a word/RPG game of sorts. The graphics are modest. The music is repetitive. The story is barely a plot. No bugs or crashes. Overall, entertaining. Obviously, this is the remastered version. I played the original, and I can notice that there are some improvements here. Unlike the original, I felt this one to be a bit more engaging, with a better pace. It doesn't feel as repetitive, even when it's not too different. For the price, it will bring you a decent amount of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turned out to be a good call lol. Loving Letter Quest so far. The simple but effective "word battle RPG" gameplay loop is something I'm finding low-key addictive and... I guess kinda soothing in a way? Perfect "turn the brain noise down & just unwind for a bit" kind of game.
unlabelledView post →Its Bookworm Adventures. I feel it was made to be played along a dictionary or something, some challenges are way too specific or require you to know long words in a short amount of time. You can kinda cheat using a Scrabble solver. Its a good time waster, but incredibly repetitive.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun word game, although a bit repetitive as I needed to replay some of the first levels several times to get upgrades for the boss fights. English is my second language, so that introduces another layer of difficulty, but the game is playable even if you get 5-6 letter words at the most. I've completed the game and managed to get only four 9-letter words, but the bonuses help getting higher points even for shorter words.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Letter Quest is a game that seems to take heavy influence from the classic Popcap game "Bookworm Adventures", albeit with more RPG elements. As the current #1 Expert Any% speedrun record holder and a former top 10 Bookworm speedrunner, there are several unique perspectives that I think are worth mentioning: GAMEPLAY =-=-=-=-=-=-= I personally really like the gameplay. It's very fun to spell words, and slowly building up your power through the gem upgrades to match your playstyle is extremely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just as fun and mentally engaging as ever. This remaster adds several new levels, quests, achievements, and an updated dictionary. Well worth the money even if you played through the original, as I did.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Since EA won't republish the masterpiece, Bookworm Adventures, this is the closest thing you can get. For it's price, it's not a bad recreation at all. Fun, simple combat with some challenge here and there. My biggest gripe is that the presentation is pretty weak and the art style is not good. Some more RPG elements would have been really cool, but there's still enough here to get plenty of fun out of
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, but needs a better dictionary. I had to look up obscure words with Q but no U, yet my excitement for stumbling upon "Elysium" was dampened by finding out that it's not accepted. Also, no names or swear words. It all goes back to its mobile origins. I can see how an energy system would've easily fit in when you failed, and that failure is based on luck (a bad roll of letters) and the exponentially stronger enemies you have to level up with. A good timewaster for kids, but not something…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is basically a cute and colorful timekilling phone app; which isn't necessarily bad if you're looking for something casual to relax with after a long day. The gameplay's repetitive, generally easy (even the timed stages aren't a big deal) and grindy if you're a completionist. There's only one music track, and while not terrible, it's not really fitting - but you can just turn it off and put your own music on. I got it on sale for ~$2 and definitely got my money's worth. Besides a bunch of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is an absolute tragedy that Bookworm Adventures never got a proper sequel, and then got essentially erased from existence. This does a good job of filling that void.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's by no means a terrible game, it has some good. My main complaint is the star system, while it somewhat differs from the usual 3 star formula this one isn't that much better. Each star is essentially it's own challenge, which is cool but one of them is a time trial which I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate (even if you can cheese it). There's also a 4th star you can earn which is "ultra hard". But I personally found it to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Why can't I beat them on skill/RNG alone? Why do I have to level up just so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little variety between levels. Even with crystal letters, plague times, and other effects, it all feels the same. Stage 1: spell words to win, basically impossible to lose Stage 2: spell words with a time constraint Stage 3: spell longer words to win Stage 4: forces to use items or die
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's basically like Bookworm adventure. You play a long word and do defeat the enemies.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is basically just Popcap's Bookworm Adventures, with some tweaks and a slightly worse dictionary. I do quite enjoy it, it's a fun little spelling game, it's cute graphically, and it also is educational enough to make parents happy. Compared to its obvious inspiration, it's got deeper RPG elements, but the dictionary is more limited (especially as far as proper nouns go), and it goes from having a charming, classic storybook feel with a plot, to a thin at best plot and generic enemies.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My Video Review can be found here: https://youtu.be/yC4ETaPiAe4 Has Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered convinced me about its qualities? The answer is definitely yes! It has easy to learn but hard to master game mechanics, many good ideas and RPG elements making the game catchy and long lasting, huge dictionary, reasonable difficulty, cute graphics, solid music and very easy controls by simple mouse clicking. The cons I have found are just lackluster sounds with no speech and sneaky…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend this to anyone of any age who doesn't hate word games, as they couldn't have done much better with the word-spelling as an on-rails monster fighting RPG. This is for the most part NOT a typing game or a modern dungeon crawler. Here is what you need to know: +Decent cartoonish look, feel, and music (classic & remastered tracks available) +Core gameplay is creating words from a set of letters given to you. The more letters and less common letters you use, the more damage you attack…

unlabelledView post →If you wanted to play Bookworm Adventures on Steam, this is probably the closest you'll get as far as I'm aware. Had a fun time playing this on mobile, so I 100%'d it here. You can't go wrong with this game especially on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great word puzzle game to pass the time. It does get a bit repetitive but there's only so many mechanics you can do I suppose.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →And really weird, niche Pooja feels - Letter Quest! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played Letter Quest a lot. More than most people, judging by the achievements. As I'm writing this, I can see them glimmering gold in the background. With that in mind, you might wonder why my review is red and why I spent so much time in the game if I didn't like it. The answer is simply this: It's not that Letter Quest isn't fun, necessarily, but that it isn't fun enough to actually feel worth it to play. It reminds me of Wordle, a game to fill up space in one's day and then forget about…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Find words. Find them quick! Enemies are nearby. Simple, yet gripping - that is, if you like these kind of games. ... Wait, what... infection among the letters? What the heck?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and Educational. :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's basically scrabble with some light RPG elements added on top like potions, quests and upgrade modifiers. Each level has 3 challenge stages. The first challenge is Time Trial, the 2nd can have any number of modifiers added to the level like 3 banned letters, 4 letter words do no damage, etc. and the 3rd challenge is 'Enemies are Elite'(more health, do more damage to you). If you like scrabble you'll like this game. I did notice that a fair number of words, especially long ones, aren't…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buy Letter Quest: Remastered if you haven't got the original, if you have, don't bother. There are a few additions, such as the endless mode, which is fun (and set in a new place, but that just means a new background and soundtrack). I wouldn't call the full animation something you should have to pay for, they should have updated the original, but instead left it unfinished. There are no new monsters, or places (apart from the endless caverns). Cons Repetetive gameplay. Grinding.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's almost like Words with Friends, but without Big Brother sniffing your pits while you play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this from the Steam Summer Sale (since I do like me a good puzzler), and no doubt I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I became addicted. A word-battling RPG that's easy to learn, and its gradual introduction of crystal tiles (which grant player buffs) and tile debuffs (e.g. poison and whirlwind) gives each enemy encounter a surprising amount of depth as well. Not to forget the various books and scythes you can equip to help turn battles in your favour. That said though, whilst some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The dictionary misses common words and is randomly selective on which proper nouns count (i.e. some country names can be used, but not others). Moreover, the letter grid is too small, so you can rarely create substantial words or save letters for future use.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun word game with a small sense of RPG progression. Nice to have a game that's both enjoyable and not high octane. Buy this game for $1.99 on sale and get at least 60 cents back from the trading cards. Purchase includes both the original and the remaster.
