60 of 179 · most liked firstFun to play, challenging, many different characters to choose, lots of different guns and many secret areas to discover! I really liked the game until the point I met some game breaking problems. The game still has some serious issues but as I can see, the developers don't care about, because so many users reported those and still not a fix after two years. Despite some small sound and graphical problems I didn't had any problem with the gameplay until I was almost at the end. Wanna get all…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recapturing the heady retro feel of the 16 bit shooters on the Amiga and Atari ST, Tower 57 does its best to endear itself to the curious player. It looks and sounds great, but thanks to a host of bugs and some poor gameplay choices it just can’t be recommended. Have you ever had the rug pulled out from beneath your feet? No? Well, if you’re a fan of classic top down shooters like The Chaos Engine and Alien Breed, and would like to experience that sensation, then look no further. Tower 57…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't recommend this game as someone who mainly plays these types of games solo. If you are doing multiplayer then maybe it would be playable, but there just aren't enough opportunities to heal and some parts seem undoable once you get far enough and lose your characters and ammo. So you keep restarting the same checkpoint with the same low health that you last saved at. It's not a terrible game, I had a little fun with it, but I can't fully recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everything about this should have been a slam dunk. I was expecting an isometric shooter/fighter/beat em up like Ember Knights. And for a hot minute, it was - navigating sewers and underground tunnels and those were fun. But I was losing my patience when it turned into a metroidvania and I had to figure out where I was going. We spent far too much time trying to find the next section getting bogged down in trying to find the next bit of story to get to the action. While the graphics were good…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dude, I played with my friend a year ago and now there is no way to connect to multiplayer, you must be kidding right? Fix the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gamplay is nice and the Design is awsome, also I like the bad jokes and weird characters.. BUT.. THIS GAME IS FULL OF BUGS! - got stuck between objects/walls - Bossfight against "Supervisor" didn't load (you just stand there and the doors are closed) - Bossfight against "Judge" in his flying fortress crashed if I finish him off with a flamethrower - and the worst: SAVE GAME GOT CORRUPTED IN FINAL LEVEL AND NO WAY TO RESTORE IT!!!! I'm sorry for the bad review, but i cannot recommend…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just a short one to remind myself why I won't be finishing this mess: I gave up on the game after an enemy walked out of the combat arena and softlocked the game for the second time in 30 minutes. The game is repetitive and buggy - my bullets were passing through obstacles I had to destroy and I was shot across the screen from another room that was locked for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good soundtrack, good graphics, nice gameplay. Great neo-retro atmosphere; way to plunge into the 90s.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10 For single player it's pretty good. But there are 2 big issues, very unstable with random crashes and in co-op locked camera is awful. Can't recommend this game currently, as most people would want it to play together.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10 decent game kinda killed by bugs and the forums appear to be dead. mostly just people with the same problems and no answers
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable in coop, very buggy...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ehhhhhh. This was almost good. It's kind of like a Syndicate, with a minor upgrade system and okay twin-stick overhead shooting. Thing is, it didn't go nearly far enough. There aren't enough weapons, and you can max the body upgrades pretty quickly. After that, it's just a series of dull scavenger hunts, punctuated by a couple of NES-style boss fights. The "enemies can chew off your arms and legs" mechanic was only ever an irritation, especially as it made you backtrack to go retrieve your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tower57 shows promise and has wonderful pixel art, but unfortunately it is too buggy to complete. I had to set this one aside due to a game breaking bug that prevented me from progressing any further.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game but abandoned and buggy so if you get stuck cause of a bug then you're likely gonna have to restart.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as good as Zombies Ate My Neighbors, but still pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was so buggy... my Special was going off for no reason. Also the game was difficult, I put it on easy and it still was rough.. Maybe there were more enemies because it is meant for more players?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun-cool world, great music, decent gameplay. Cluttered with bugs, lots of places to get stuck in, speeds for everything constantly mess up - firing rate, reloads, animations, most importantly walk speeds. Visual and sound glitches. Often will crash in the loading screens.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lovely little game in single player, but Cooperative play is unusable as it repeatedly looses the game session. Wouldn’t be so bad if you could start right back where you left it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring and lots of bugs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tower 57 is a visually stunning, top-down shooter that combines retro aesthetics with modern gameplay mechanics. Set in a satirical dystopian world, the game tasks players with uncovering the secrets of Tower 57 by blasting through its intricately designed floors. With its vibrant pixel art, destructible environments, and fast-paced combat, Tower 57 offers a short but memorable experience. However, significant issues hold it back from being a standout title. Now, I know what you're thinking -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice top-down shooter game, reminds me of Hotline Miami but not that violent or difficult. You pick 3 out of 6 characters and once picked, you can't use the rest 3 so the full experience requires 2 runs. During the gameplay you first walk around the city then to the battlefield. For me the biggest problem in the city is the unclear waypoint and for the battlefield is the ammo. Once entering the battlefield it's not easy to survive, don't even think about eliminating all enemies. I experienced…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is fun, and I see potential in it. However, this game crashes constantly when I play co-op, to the point of being unplayable. Additionally, in the short periods where the game runs fine, I've encountered game freezes that forces my friend and I to quit and start from the last checkpoint. This is really frustrating. Until a patch is published, I wouldn't recommend this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL:DR; A short and challenging game (in its current build 21.19). Good music (but short tracks which will stick in your mind after a few hours of hearing them), good pixel artwork and animation. Does have many bugs which still need ironing out although not game breaking. Worth a go if you like games like Chaos Engine. Recommended (but with reservations). I backed the kickstarter for Tower 57 having seen the artstyle and reading about the plans for the game - it was just very appealing,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game as part of a bundle for next to nothing - it's a shame that it never took off! This game would have been right at home in the early 90s console market, but the writing and humour would never have flown then - in that sense it's a gem. Where it falls down for me is a serious lack of refinement. The game is large and hard enough that I didn't feel like playing permadeath, but when a character dies you're forced to the next one at a seemingly random spawn point a little ways back.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this game is cool. I like it a lot. However, it crashes all the time and I cannot play long enough to reach the next save point in the dungeon, so I am stuck in some time loop like Bill Murray in Groundhogs Day.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great, great great game if you liked Soldier of Fortune aka Chaos Engine.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't get what's with the negative review, it's a pretty fun and good game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the game expecting a lot, sadly after playing through 3 times I encountered a bunch of annoying and disappointing moments. I'll get to the point. First off, the game feels like its about to get going and then it ends. After the second level ( which by the way feels way too much like the first) the game goes by incredibly quick. You'll beat the game and be like "that's it?" There's a story here but it feels overly convoluted for something so short. I guess they had a larger picture in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is great, until it gets you stuck for the n-th time, but this time w/o a savegame to fall back to. Screw you mates, I've had enough. Wouldn't recommend at this point.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tower 57 is a retro 2D pixel top down shootemup, like hundreds of others on Steam. Despite being released in 2017, the "developers", Pixwek, couldn't afford an artist and used retro pixel graphics. Or, as their name implies, they made the game look bad deliberately. Thankfully to all gamers everywhere, the game crashes on launch, failing to render properly in 4K under the latest builds of Windows 10. This incompetence from the developers is a gift to the gamers who got this in the crappy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is like 95% complete but the developer fogot to hire quality assurance testers and ruined everything because some battles are broken and you get stuck and die because some of them are badly designed... I would enjoy the game if those issues wrere fixed by 11 bit... thanks
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haven't yet played it through it with friend, but still feel like can leave good enough review after few levels of experience. Tower 57 does do things quite badly at parts like character resurrection where you need NPC and this isn't open in first level and can take really long path later on to get to while in level. Damned sewer water gives tons of damage and you get enemy horde spawns while getting stuck to a liquid filled area which was certain death to friends characters for not having the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tower 57 is an original twin stick shooter with great graphics, a cool world and neat features that set it apart from other games. But it has one of the worst endings in the history of videogames. ❤️️ Pros ❤️️ Well executed pixel-art graphics look great Upgrade system isn't only for weapons, but also also for your body Diverse areas that you visit throughout the game Option to play the story in co-op Great diversity in enemies (no recolors, but actual different enemies with other…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game -- not sure why all the negative reviews. It's quite fun as a pick up and play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With some lovely modern pixel art and plenty of nods to old Amiga run-n-gun games, Tower 57 absolutely looks the part. However, there are some serious game breaking bugs which hamper a wholly positive and fun playing experience. I recommend this one only if you are willing to put up with restarting from earlier save points due to the unfixed issues in the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. Definitely worth playing. My only complaint is that some of the achievement's don't unlock even though you have done what they require. I think its a bug that I hope they fix. Other than that, The game doesn't have any problems.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes it is broken, and most of the systems don't make sense or work, but it is the skeleton of a great game. The developers should either finish the game by rounding out the various upgrade systems, allow multiple play through options and backtracking, balance enemies and bosses plus a lot more; or probably better yet at this point sell it to another developer that wants to finish it since it has been so long with no improvements and the art style and game play have some really solid things…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the short and buggy length of the game, Tower 57's gameplay and artstyle was satisfying enough to warrant playing through the game. I would reccomend waiting for a sale as a single playthrough will take three hours at most.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only character I was able to get far into the game with is the girl with the electric gun. The other character's weapons blow nuts. The main problem is that you take dmg easily and you take a ton of dmg from each hit, so if you die you have to switch to one of the other characters. It only gives you enough money through the entire game to upgrade one character and their main weapon, so the other characters are extra useless in late game. For real, this game is extra greedy with how much…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tower 57 (2017) Wanted to give this game a neutral recommendation but Steam does not want to give that option for some reason so i'm leaning towards the positive. Pretty fun game but I don't think i'm gonna finish it, not that big a fan of the genre. You run around and dodge stuff, shoot back at stuff. While the game looks great and runs very well, there are loads of glitches ruining the experience, some are game breaking and even game ending. There are fan fixes for it, but from what I saw…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very Noice. Had fun. Has some bugs at the time, but still enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple story, retro gameplay. Neat upgrade concepts, the OG cyberpunk. Unfortunately, I can't recommend for the pricepoint even at a 50% sale only about 3h content.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyone old enough to remember the Chaos Engine? Similar styled game very fun, retro, fast paced isometric shooter. Was delighted to kickstart it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat art, tedious gameplay. The "free" weapon shoots really slowly, I got killed by an enemy that ran immediately to me and then was impossible to hit get off of me. I could struggle through, but I see no reason to. There's not much here other than the neat setting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ frustrating. This game bugs ALL OF THE TIME. Your character basically stays stuck anywhere for no reason. Whether it's in the stairs, in the middle of the map, or near a wall. You just stay stuck and can't move. The only way you can get out is to quit and restart. I'm sick and tired of loosing all of my progress and starting over after a hard part because of these bugs. Fun game but until these bugs are fixed, do not buy it. Not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has several issues. It could be very fun, but those issues make it annoying. Issue 1: save points crashes de game Issue2: bad connection Issue3: High latence Issue4: Confuse story and missions
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashed like 4 times in an hour. Wouldn't connect to friend. Trash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really, really want to love this game. Unfortunately it's too buggy; every single session has ended in a game breaking bug of some kind. This is both online & local multiplayer, multiplayer being the sole reason I got this game. This has been around long enough that I expect these sorts of bugs to have been long since fixed. The fact that they haven't tells me that this game will never live up to its otherwise amazing potential.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this game for co-op, and it was too full of bugs and sync issues to get anywhere. Do not buy this game if you want to play online co-op.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - crazy, unique world - beautiful pixel art - replayability - unique enemies - detailed levels Cons: - bad story (especially the end) - locked and narrow rooms in level design - maybe it's too hard game - short campaign
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The base idea seems great but the game is not.. I have lost hour of progress because of the bad save system.. It was fun for 2 hours.. not more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Tower 57"? More like - Tower 67
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tower 57 is a simple, colourful top-down shooter with stunning pixel art graphics. You’re an agent sent to figure out what’s the deal with the dystopian Tower 57, which you do by shooting your way through its floors, unlocking items and upgrading your character. The game is rather short and straight forward, only around 5 levels or so, however they are packed with secrets for you to find on your journey. I like how despite having linear progression you’re not guided through the levels and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and annoying game. Nice pixel graphics, effects and animations. The levels are great, very nice level design, lots of secret rooms and passages to discover, a lot of traps and destructibles everywhere. Also, great level identity and variety. The sound and music are good. Some character voice lines are great. The story is nothing special, but it works. The characters are mostly cosmetic, the differences are the weapon and tool they carry, also a special ability themed around the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a reason it needs to be bundled and heavily discounted.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some of the most awesome pixel art ever. Feels like a modern arcade classic brought to life.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TOWER 57 (2017) Arcadia SNES-like https://youtu.be/_HJ9LdmppYU I step into the tower, the air thick with grime, A labyrinth of pixel walls, built in another time. Futuristic yet old, a maze of tech and stone, In this megatower, I walk alone. With my weapon clutched, a blade of light, I carve through enemies, no end in sight. A gang of heroes, misfits and kings, We fight through the chaos, to see what it brings. The floor trembles beneath my feet, As monsters rise from every street. Pixelated…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When tower 57 launched I used my friends copy to play through it and I got through the tutorial then dropped it. Now I got the bundle with 8 games and this was one of them. Since I played a little before I decided that I should play through this first. It's a very good game. The gameplay is good, graphics are spectacular, and music was good. Story was there but I liked it, it had more of a focus on lore than actual story. The game is very short, you can beat it in less than three hours (I made…
