60 of 65 · most liked firstI picked up JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD – Resurrection – up completely on a whim without knowing anything about the game. I was looking for something to play and the low price point was enough to persuade me to give it a try. There are a lot of bad to mediocre low-priced games out there that target impulse purchasers, and I'm happy to say that JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD – Resurrection – does not fall into that category. The two included games are somewhat obscure WonderSwan Color titles. For anyone…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A vast amount of my playtime from this comes from the Xbox 360 version of Eschatos, however this is an absolutely excellent port with just a single problem - Lack of online leaderboards. The Xbox 360 versions of these ports had online leaderboards and that's a pretty weird oversight for this release, especially considering Eschatos has them in place! With that said though, it's a set of two absolutely exceptional shmups that no fan of the genre should go without playing. Graphically simple but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've long said that SHMUPS are an elegant genre. Simple in their goal, but complex in what they ask the player to perform. Judgement Silversword looks simple; it looks old, dated, and its 5 dollar price-tag may indicate it may be nothing more than a passing novelty. However, it's anything but. It's a perfect port of the Wonderswan rarity (which would easily cost you upwards of $500 to purchase otherwise), and plays like a dream. The scoring is simple, but razor sharp. The controls are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Being drawn to the titular Judgement Silversword and Cardinal Sins mainly because they both look and sound like a GameBoy Color game on steroids, I was hoping for a nostalgic experience. And I indeed got one, but not the kind I hoped for. First game - Judgement Silversword I consider myself average in Shoot ‘Em Ups, so I always choose Normal as the difficulty setting. At first, it seemed like every other modern Shoot ‘Em Up I played: I progress, hit a wall, overcome it by learning the ins…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →YES but look for my guide on how to use the "double shot"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so cute that this fit on a wonderswan

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard to believe that these were originally handheld games. They're really good - reminds me of the "caravan"-type games they released for the PC-Engine. Challenging, but not ball-busting. Great for the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Judgement Silversword is an amazing shmup that came out of nowhere in to my life. Old or young shmups still speak to some of us and Judgement Silversword deserves a shot from any fan of the genre. I'll leave the rest up to you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really really wanted this for my SwanCrystal, but that is simply not possible. Some years ago this game went away for 500 eu on ebay, and now this is simply NOWHERE to be found. This was the winner of the WonderWitch contest in Japan, and it is one of those games that are simply important in gaming history. The steam version is a very solid port, plays well, supports 4K and works with the steam controller out of the box.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a high quality port for sure. The Slow Down is like, perfect. I just wish they modified the ship with a better visual for the hit box. But its where it normally is, if you know what I mean. Its better then digging up a Wounderswan or even runing the game on a you know what. So if you are intrested in these two games, I'd say go for it. There fun shoot'em ups.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i played this series in the completely wrong order (ginga force > eschatos > this) and let me tell you it was a trip from a technical standpoint these are really good ports! everything's intact, they even bothered to recreate the slowdown that happens on an actual wonderswan (which sounds like a bad thing on paper, but believe me, you will be glad they did)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The ESCHATOS, GINGA FORCE, Natsuki Chronicles devs have done it again. Another masterpiece. Certainly Qute are on a roll. What a life!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just think this awesome shoot 'em up would fit on a tiny wonderswan <3 Gunpei Yokoi would be proud. Hiroshi Iuchi <3 M-KAI Radiant Silvergun -> Judgement Silversword -> Ikaruga -> Kokuga -> Ubusuna Treasure -> M-KAI -> G.rev -> M2 Radiant Silvergun (Treasure, 1998): The Maximalist foundation. It proved that a shmup could have the narrative weight and mechanical depth of a high-end PC RPG. Judgment Silversword (M-KAI, 2004): The Technical bridge. It proved the "Silver" philosophy wasn't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best shooters $5 can buy. Especially impressive considering it was originally a Wonderswan title (which now goes for $500 on ebay)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just get it. It's fun, It's addictive it's two games in one! 10/10 Bullets!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This little shmup is really excellent so far. Glad I bought it on impulse.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horrifically brutal shmup. Rewards you with extra lives and continues the more you play, seemingly for the sole purpose of applying further suffering to your psyche. As agonizing as it is unmissable. Awesome.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good package with some rare Wonder Swan games. The marathon mode is my favorite.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Judegement Silversword is a 1990s inspired retro vertical scrolling shooter. The game is on the simpler (but not easy) side with a focused shot, spread shot and forward shield. The game play is very fast with the exception of what I assume is manufactured slow-down when the game uncommonly becomes more like a bullet hell. Judgement Silversword is not an easy game, even on easy. Stages are short but plentiful. More like waves, as each stage has set of enemy ships that the player needs to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD - Resurrection - is the collection of two shmup games, released on the Japan exclusive WonderSwan Color portable console. Since they only released in limited quantities, they are quite rare and it's such a noble move from the devs and Degica to bring them to a wider audience and preserve them in a modern re-release. The collection includes two games: Judgement Silversword, which is a traditional shoot'em up game and Cardinal Sins, a WarioWare-esque take on the genre that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Vertical space gallery shooter. Spiritual prequel to Eschatos. Tight controls. Part reflex, part memorization based gameplay. Retro presentation, graphics and audio. Fun and challenging. Listed on the [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/40858110-Shoot-%2527em-up-Database/]Shoot 'em up Database
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended for anyone who wants to spice up their collection with a solid game that is very different from others in the genre. The bosses in particular are very epic and have lots of personality. The game is both challenging and also approachable to players turned off by complicated scoring systems or bullet hell. Game supports 144Hz! (and now has leaderboards unlike earlier reviews)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good shmup. Music is repetitive though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old but gold! Great introduction to arcade shmups.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shmup shooter games were one of my favorite types of games, and since I've never owned a Wonderswan I got more interested to see how this game is. It's really a fun game, and for the time this came out it was nicely done, at least for a portable game. Of course, you'd have to understand since this was made for a portable gaming system back when it was made the graphics and sound are very simple, but really it's enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good stuff at a low price
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This vertical shoot 'em up was initially released in 2004 for the system WonderSwan Color and later re-released for Xbox 360 as a bonus inside Eschatos, a modern spiritual sequel and also for PC (Steam). JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD is a game with simple graphics, but fluid, resembling a bit the classic Zanac for NES and MSX. The gameplay is fast, furious, but fun. You have two types of weapons: a more concentrated and long-range and other more spread shot, but short-range as well as a shield. Both…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While basic, Judgement Silversword is a decent, well-ported little shmup. Interesting enemies and bullet patterns, but scoring is pretty lacking. Cardinal Sins, the second part of this package, is much more interesting, requiring the player to fulfill specific objectives in each stage before facing off against the final boss. Short, but alone justifies the purchase.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just got it on PC, I have it already on Switch bundled with Eschatos. Judgement Silversword has very smooth gameplay, and a lot of fun. You can see how it evolved into Eschatos. Similar enemies, patterns, no bomb just a shield to get through bullets, and broken up into short stages that come at you very fast. Basically its old school Eschatos with 2d graphics. Cardinal Sins is one I have spent less time with, I think its mostly for competing with yourself or a friend. I think it is called a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a classic especially considering its history but I find it difficult to have fun with it Definitely not recommend for anyone who wants a fun time with their Shmups
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very quietly and unassumingly one of the best shmups in existence
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Proto-Eschatos caravan shmup. You should probably get it if you like shooting space ships. It's fun with nice little levels and will grow on you. Very addictive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple little arcade-style shoot 'em up that I find to be very addicting. Every time I look at this game I am just like, "Damn that game is awesome!" lol. Not a long game, All it really is are waves of enemies coming at you in a couple different types of challenges. I heard this was a Wonderswan Color homebrew game in the 2000's, so take it as a simple handheld game. If I had this back then in the 2000's I would have been super happy, and I am super happy with it now! Great little shooty game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not really the shmup I actually like. Sadly I just played this months after purchase so I can't get a refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent! Perhaps my favorite shmup of all time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →port of the predecessor to eschatos i prefer this game the bosses are crazier and the camera acts normal
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good retro flying top down shooter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just barely recommend this one. If I could, I would give this a mixed review. Judgement Silversword has a lot of trial and error moments. As a result of this, it starts out quite frustrating but gradually gets more fun with practice. Luckily, this one is quite cheap price-wise, so buy this if you're really itching to add another shmup to you're collection. I strongly advise that you play this with the double shot mod. It is the definitive way to experience this game. The following guide…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Para el precio está bien si te gustan los juegos de navecitas Retro. Aunque un poco sencillo comparado con juegos del género hechas para hardware más poderoso
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is legendary for a reason.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excelent classic shmup. the game has simple yest good bullet patterns, simple and precise controls and a bullet clarity very good. I had the game in a emulator but this purchase was worth, as teh emulation here is slightly better and it has leaderboards. The wonderswan was a limited console in terms of technology wich translates in some slowdown and some flicker, as effects as explosions are not particulary well animated and smooth. Still i thinks that mechanicly the game has no faults. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From Creators of Eschatos. Two good old shmups - true to the heart of the genre these games DO NOT contain all those horrifically annoying anime elements. No nuissance cut scenes. No cut scenes at all, in fact!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →needs its own arcade machine
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game literally has a Wario Ware mode. It's amazing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →These games are hard.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2 really good bullet hells. Work great on steam deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably the best shmup I've played aside from Ketsui! Really feels great to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has shmups distilled to the essential (thanks party to it origins on a humble hardware). Player needs to learn how different enemies behave and what works through experimentation but given how the game follows shmup conventions, this is doable and satisfying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great little top down space shooter. As far as I can tell this is a pretty much perfect port of the Wonder Swan game. Controls are crisp, and difficulty settings allow you to work up from fairly easy to full on bullet hell.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game works. It's also good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I suck at this game but everything about it is enjoyable to me from the game-play to the music.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Wonderswan game, on Steam. That's a feat! JSS Normal is mainly hard due to repetition and durable enemy HP, though. You need patience Meanwhile Cardinal Sins is a unique fast-paced experience. Cardinal Sins is very much recommended for the casual weirdness alone.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has tight controls :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So this is where the soundtracks in Eschatos came from. The gameplay feels similar too. It makes me want to play Eschatos again. Also has online leaderboard.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good shmups with some enemy wave randomization and a fast, seamless progression. Judgement Silversword and Cardinal Sins are both games I enjoy a lot and would recommend. Minus points for not having autofire built-in - essential to the game is mashing or autofiring Wide Shot while holding Forward Shot to perform a glitch(?) called Double Shot utilizing both at the same time, and to use autofire for this you need an external program like antimicro, or a turbo controller. It's also locked at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2 great old school shooters!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game gets really really really hard near the end. jeez. it's great as an example of one person making something amazingly sophisticated using limited tools - it's got that feeling of hacky polish you get from games at the end of the NES life cycle - and it's full of elegant ideas that miniaturize the dynamics of more complex shmups into something more accessible. one factor that nearly ruins the whole thing for me: both dealing optimal damage against enemies and increasing your scoring…
