60 of 186 · most liked firstI don't know why but first game gave me rather bad impression about this series however this one feels more solid. For me playing with controller feels kinda "sticky" like you have to tilt joystick by certain amount in order to move your ship (not that noticeable). What this game have to be praised for is a lot of variety with foes and levels. You will not get bored and upgrade system is quite complex for such shooter. You have to be aware of your surroundings as it's fairly easy to crash on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly I have to concur with all other guys complaining about the current state of the game. It's a shadow, a husk, a mere wannabe of the original one. Let's make a short TLDR list of what's wrong: the UI is clunky, there is no real feel of progress, the game feels casual because of the abundance of powerups instead of requiring actuall skill, the whole visual part is just eyecandy explosion galore, not leaving much else, levels are rehashes of the original, story (if you can call this mess a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, due to the lack of updates, communication to the players, and silence for now over two years, I cannot recommend this game at this current time. Be it that the devs got bored of the project and dumped it or life got in the way. This was a huge middle finger to the fans to ghost us all. At least the musicians behind the project continue to make those awesome jams. Check out their album Overworld. It's a fave.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buy the original. Unless this game gets updated and they add the rest of the jets, guns, upgrades, and game its a sad sequel.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So let me begin by telling you, that this is not a bad game, so why do i not reccomend it? To put it simply, because Jets'n'Guns Gold exists. If you want to know more of my opinion, continue reading. The game is far to short and mostly put together from recycled content of original Jets'n'Guns. And by that i mean enemies, guns, level design and soundtrack (Although the last one i don't mind). Story is non existant compared to original - and it WAS a fun one. Economy is also terribly broken,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! This isn't "Jets'n'guns" anymore! This is "One Jet and some Guns" No no no, one single jet is unacceptable. Refunded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is not exactly bad, and can be worth taking at a discount. But as other negative reviews say - this game is absolutely totally objectively worse than the original. It may look a bit more pretty and shiny - but that's it. Everything else is better in the predecessor. This game is too easy (although a matter of preference - I remember I had troubles with the tank boss some time ago, but decided to give it another go recently - and everything was just a piece of cake. Maybe they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is quite decent and enjoyable, but at the same time it's a downgrade in both quality and quantity in most aspects compared to the original. Would I recommend playing it? Yes, but only if you played and really enjoyed the original.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly this feels like a cash grab. The music and visuals are as good as the first game, some bosses are really cool, others are meh at best You only have 1 ship, so no space hotdog truck, and that also means no different mounting points No spaceship paint jobs Barely any space salvage crates to crack open, I think I got 4 or 5 total The game is pretty short, about 3 hours for 1 run Upgrading the spaceship is pretty easy and can be done very fast, there are more upgrades but most are pointless…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game either needs Gold treatment to extend its length at least twice and add more stuff, or a big discount. Three hours to complete, half of which spent retrying bosses, is waaay too short, but game length is not my only gripe. I'll start with the positives first: Great soundtrack by Machinae Supremacy as always. The game is solid-built, for all its length, it is a good horizontal scroll shooter with well-balanced mechanics and consistent presentation, and tons of quality of life…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played Jets n Guns since childhood. Multiple times i complete it both in my childhood and in steam version. I never get bored of it. it was a perfect indie Side Shmup games with endless posibilities, variation and choice. the soundtrack was magnificent. As someone who likes metal, Machinae Supremacy was a perfect fit for Jets N Guns OST. Oh! and the story too! that comic strip before the start of every stage, it was very captivating. i literally read the story multiple times. It's been long i…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game was awesome, I really, really adore it! This one, on the other hand, is nothing more than a 5 $ DLC for the first game. Despite it's being fun and the soundtrack is great as always, it feels rushed (no real story), incomplete (about 2 hrs of gameplay) and just underwhelming content mostly copy&paste from the first game), especially for the price they're asking for. I know, they had a tragic loss to handle (my condolences), but that doesn't simply explain the state this game was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be blunt: this is a very boring shoot-'em-up. It looks promising at first—nice graphics, great soundtrack, unlockable addons—but it's just a mess to play. The screen constantly explodes with so much visual noise that you quickly lose track of your ship and enemy bullets. It becomes frustrating instead of fun. There are tons of buyable power-ups, but they all feel the same. Most are just basic guns, missiles, or bombs with slightly different patterns or fire rates. No special effects,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For twice the price of its predecessor in the series, players are given less customization, levels, and attention to detail and instead provided a slight update in graphics and item transactions such as full refunds. There is no real feeling of progression as cutscenes, as motionless yet charming as they were in the first game, have completely been omitted therefore reinforcing how arcade-like the sequel is with its short-lived levels and early difficulty spike which sets the precedent for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the series. The game's too short though. Feels like 1/3 of the predecessor mission-wise and guns were just moved across the game. Great expansion of the concept, but it really lacks substance. Try giving it a shot when it's on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is too short, can be played through in 2-3 hours. Content is scarce, gameplay lacks variability. Get Jets'n'Guns Gold instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way shorter and easier than the first one. Still, a great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WHY ARE THERE NO DIFFERENT SHIPS LIKE IN THE FIRST GAME! I DONT GET IT!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far inferior to the first game. Deletes my saves, doesn't stack gold from missions, beside if you play on easy that is WAAAAY to easy ... can't reset without going in hard mode, can't play different save games .. like wtf. You should have just copy pasted the first game, make new levels in that, and delete that unskippable ♥♥♥♥ level from the first game ...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have perfected the game. I am ready for this review. First off, the main dev for this game passed away while this was in production. Imagine a great game, but unfinished. That's JnG2. The Good: Graphics are nice and slick and are kept to that JnG style. The game is short enough that doing a playthrough loop is relatively quick. Fun tiered levels and tunnels and hidden objects and achievements to complete. The ship's physical customization is available right at the start under the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: ★★★★★ - Amazing Time Played: 2.6 hours Gameplay: • Short fast-paced side-scrolling shoot'em up with tight, responsive controls. • A wide variety of weapons, ship parts, bombs, missiles and upgrades to customize your jet, catering to experimentation of different playstyles. • Challenging but fair difficulty that ramps up as you progress, requiring quick reflexes and strategy. • Levels are diverse, with unique enemies like pirates, bugs or a beer bottle (I know what I said) and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually had to check if it's an early access game, but no. It seems to be a full release. It's good dumb fun for a couple of hours, but beyond that the game doesn't really have anything to offer. It seems like they've set on a path to remake the first game in higher definition, but run out of money after completing about 1/4 of it. As a result it just retreads some of the first game levels, but in HD. Music by MaSu is amazing, as expected, but aside from that I think I can't recommend it.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10 for the music alone, good heavens.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've loved original Jets 'n' guns a lot and it pains me to say... I can't recommend this game. Why? Well because of: 1) Length There's 13 main levels and 3 bonus ones. For measure, jets 'n' guns gold had 43 levels. "Wait, that's it? That's the whole game?" - that's exactly what I've been thinking. It took me about 5 hours to finish, but it's possible to do that even earlier. Some people managed to do just that in 2 hours. Sure, you can loop and replay the same levels with the same items - but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok i loved Jets 'n' Guns Gold Edition and played it often. I wait long for Jets 'n' Guns 2, its a good game and i like it too, but its not a Jets 'n' Guns game it is a "Side Scroller" game like every Side Scroller Game -.- ... Dear Rake in Grass Guys please take the money, take your time you need and make it better! We know you can do it.... see your first Jets 'n' Guns you have done. Don't forget the Band Machinae Supremacy! Also you get a Secon Chance. See you on "Jets 'n' Guns 3 the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Prime example of a game that has an impossible task of trying to make a sequel that is better than the first one. Just look at the negatives: So many different reasons why people hate this and seems like everyone has their favorite parts from the first game 'that is now missing' so a negative it is. And i do understand. JnG Gold is unique. Period. Considering how many shoot'em up games there are out there with their own sub-genres JnG Gold stands on that pile as a unique game not due to some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is too easy and unmemorable. You enter a level, shoot everything, everything explodes. It's fun for a bit and no more
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →30 years after Tyrian and nobody can make a decent scrolling shoot 'em up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EPIC soundtrack! Short campaign. But there's definitely some replay value. Got to find those tricky secrets after all. A few things that bothered me and should be easy to add/fix: - The shop auto scrolls when you sell something. Why? - Shop filter. - More weapon variety. - A "reduce visual intensity" option for certain weapons is needed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →---see where this game landed on my SHMUP tier list beneath this review!--- Pretty cool shmup that loops when you beat it onto a higher difficulty. It saves progress between stages and allows you to replay previous levels to find missing secrets. You can upgrade your weapons and buy new ones. Sometimes visibility can be a little bit of a problem, with many different coloured shots and missiles all over the screen. On the flipside of this, the colours do make for a neat spectacle at times…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great soundtrack, explosive gameplay, nice variety of weapons & options. Level-wise = little short, but still fun. Achievement-wise = doable, but be prepared for hardcore mode, playing same levels to difficulty 10 (10x same missions over and over) and mortal kombat + tetris baby.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is this a good game well Yes is It better then JnG Gold? No Sadly one of Devs has passed away, and we are left with presumably finished game I would put this game is neutral as i cant really say i agree with it and disagree What it lacks of JnG Gold is: Some sort of story slides after each mission you got them and it felt very nice and in topic and style of JnGG but here we are basically start a mission kill stuff, next mission(gets boring sadly), them little comics honestly in 1st game kept…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is ok but extremly short. I wouldn't recommend it. Buy the first one instead!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This doesn't deserve the "2", it's a downgrade in every way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you've played the original to absolute death and can get it on sale, it'll burn a few hours. Otherwise I can't recommend it as it has less than half the length of JnG gold, while being twice the price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →there's jets there's guns it's the second one it's good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got a problem, I can't use Barrier Device on Training stage. I pressed both Device 1 and 2 keys, but NOTHING! I'm so much FRUSTRATED! Thank for someone who have created a cheat engine script to make me pass the Training! After pass the Training, the game unlock Shop Menu. So, I did try to buy a device... It functions normally when I pressed Device 1 key. I guess the game bugged in Training stage, the Player Ship doesn't equip a Barrier device as Default. Honestly I prefer the 1st game. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having played JNG Gold and then JNG2 back to back - i can say JNG2 is way more polished, less quirky and less "weird" - it's still weird dont get me wrong with some very unconventional weapons but I think it's better and the choice is a lot more obvious in this game and I really like JNG2. One tip for new players -> do NOT ever start with normal mode. Go with casual mode and then replay the game again and "continue" with a higher difficulty when asked at the end. Otherwise you will suffer…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A flawed but nevertheless cool reimagining of a cult side-scrolling classic from the 2000s. It’s clear the developers labeled it as "complete" long before realizing their ambitious vision, and the overall lack of polish and depth is palpable, but it can still be a whole lot of fun, provided you know in advance what not to expect. And if you cut it some extra slack because all of this was created by two people, then it becomes a pretty impressive effort. In a few selected areas it even managed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like this game. It is better than its predecessor in many aspects. The graphics, UI, upgardes, gameplay and the flow. Its just more fun to play (at least for me) There are only 2 problems: - It is WAY too short. I did beat it in 2 hours - There is no feel of progression. Every weapon is available from the start. No other ships to unlock I can't recommend it for full price, but at the same time I dont want to give a thumbs down. Its such a good game but its a shame that its so short
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The continuation of my favorite game from my childhood. I can't say how happy I am that I managed to buy it, from my point of view it is 10/10 but shorter than I expected. Anyway, I wish only good things to the developers of this game. And I hope it won't be the last Jets n Guns
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable! This game reminds me of the old shareware demos that often arrived with magazines such as CD gamer, alongside the more "major" releases. It has that oldschool type of indie-game feeling that is hard to find these days. The game itself is a very simple side-scrolling action game, and the graphics are very nice and detailed, although things can get quite cluttered at times. An easy recommend for me, though the price-point is maybe a bit too high for my tastes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the first game. But this "Sequal" is a downgrade in almost every way. This game is much shorter and is lacking in the gameplay diversity of the original. You don't get to fly or buy any different ships. The story is told though description boxes when selecting the different planets, instead of the awesome comic panels from the first game. And the story itself is boring and has nothing to do with the original. A couple of positives for it would be that you can replay any specific…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Make mobile version of this game please and add more levels
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SHMUPS are good fun, but this one's a bit of a 'punish'. -Very Difficult, even on the casual setting -Camera needs a fix, sprites are too large. -Nauseating Faux-16 Bit Graphics with Hyper-saturated colours -Upgrade Store is poorly designed. Interface is disorienting. -EXCESSIVE amount of confusing Upgrade & weapon options. OVERWHELMING.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i go way way back with this, beat the original, played Gold, so i like to believe that i have decent taste. but this game gives me mixed feelings. on one hand, its a perfectly good game. on the other, it really does live in the shadow of Gold... the effects and artstyle are decent but somewhat blinding, ive found myself dodging my own munitions because i couldnt tell where it came from, and dodging into enemy fire because it didnt stand out enough. (thats bad) the music while definitely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a modern take on the side scrolling shoot 'em up with vibrant lighting and graphics. The upgrade system and progression are fun and rewarding, but the game does not do anything worth talking about past that. I was just underwhelmed by the whole experience, especially for the full retail price of $15 US. Even on sale this game does not seem to go below $7, and you can get many fully developed AAA titles from the same year that do so much more than this title. Jets'n'Guns 2 fun…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as good as the first JnG, but still enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jets'n'Guns was one of my favorite games in my childhood and to see it have a second release with better graphics, awesome soundtracks and co-op functionality makes every single part of my body excited :D soundtrack in every level slaps. the co-op is so much fun. me and my sister beat through the game 11 times and all the time we were having fun and laughing, making stupid jokes. (even made a video of it. super fun) The Arsenal and limited machine space makes a lot of possibilities for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jets n Guns 1 was awesome, go and play the Gold version. This sequel is just garbage. Nothing's finished, lots of content still missing. In contrast to first game; barely any weapons or effects. a poor second version of a far superior 1st game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rake in Grass never disappoint.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is incredibly short. I finished the game in 4 hours. When the credits started rolling I thought that for sure it was one of those things that early Final Fantasy games did where a couple hours in they roll credits before you play the rest of the game. But nope. There IS a NG+ where you start over on harder difficulty once you defeat the final boss. But you can also replay any level at any time and try to get a new high score, find all the secrets. I recommend this game because it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The music. Oh the music :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here's one time I wish Steam reviews allowed a little more nuance, even just a "Maybe" beside Yes and No. Because while I don't feel like judging this game as bad on its own merits, it's also not the sequel I'd have hoped for the original Jets 'n' Guns. Credit where it's due, they learned their lesson about the levels, which are shorter, faster-paced, and generally much more pleasant to go through. The destruction is once again top-notch; sometimes literally everything on screen can be…
