positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is 100% worth buying. However... It would be nice to get some QOL updates. You should be able to mouse over your weapons and Core in the tactical battle map to get a detailed breakdown of your stats. You should be able to speed up player moves like you can AI moves. Experience text is cut off in the planet selection screen. In general, upgrades and level ups pop onto the screen rather suddenly, and initially it can be confusing what you're looking at. I am a HUGE fan of "mouse over"…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ignited Steel: Mech Tactics is a mech strategy game that feels like Advance Wars/Sunrider with a limited roster of mechs. The combat is fun, the bosses are challenging, and the variety of weapons are interesting. The game is a roguelike and story is almost non-existent but the game-play is flawless. There is heavy tactics for this game and anyone who is a fan of turn based strategy will enjoy this game. The heat mechanic for instance is amazing, it balances risk with reward, overheat and you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an extremely limited mech tactics roguelike. Nothing here is broken, it's just that there isn't much here. The selection of mechs, equipment, perks, enemies, and maps is extremely limited and gives the sense that you've seen all the game has to offer less than halfway through your first run. The enemies don't scale in power up very much, and you fight the same ones all the way through, so this game becomes very, very easy by the end. And the weapons stay the exact same too--just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! The demo was already good, and the actual release expands what was previously a very satisfying experience. Combat is fast-paced, responsive and punchy whilst retaining the necessary tactical depth to keep players engaged. In particular, the overheat mechanic actually means something in this game, unlike other mech-based games where it tends to feel tacked on and more like a weight around one's neck preventing players from enjoying themselves to the fullest with their big stompy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the concept. but execution is lacking. very limited options for what your mechs can do, repetitive maps, I wanted it to be a mash up of FTL and Into the breach.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A disappointing step backwards for the genre gameplay wise. I commend the effort but unfortunately I can not recommend this gameplay. Into The Breach does most of the same things better, for longer, and more transparently with the player.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple and fun turn-based tactical mech game! Set up a team of three mechs with their own pilots, skills and fittings then go to town on some local hostiles and turn them into scrap metal. Fun / 10, will play again! After about 4 full runs my thoughts on it are these... Pro's: * You go straight into the action. Set up your team and get to shooting right away without worrying about random cutscenes taking away control or have the game turn into a visual novel with constant dialog exchanges…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately the game appears to be abandoned by the dev and has game-breaking bugs that were present since release and are still not fixed. The music and character art are good and it's obviously a work of passion (character names/bios make it clear the dev is a mecha fan) but I cannot recommend it in its current state, and I do not see it changing in the future.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NICE CONCEPT, POOR EXECUTION This game remembers me of Into the Breach and Front Mission, and it have everything to be a great and fun. But the first thing that dissapoints it's the lack of detail to the story and the featured events. Like Into the Breach, we have to replay the game to get new stuff unlocked, try new combinations to get a more diversified party with more powerful mechs. But where Into the Breach cativates you to fight for a timeline of civilians, with every new run being a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels... distinctly incomplete. The way it feels is like a lot of disparate elements that you recognize from various mech games and turn-based strategy games that have been mashed together in an unappetizing ball of Something Spaghetti, with little cohesion between anything beyond there being an enormous number of new-player traps that would be impossible to figure out on your first/first few runs. Much of the equipment feels totally useless or like they copied it straight out of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You seem to unlock something new every time you complete a game, wanting more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent but basic, not really on the level of more fleshed out games like Into The Breach. Also has difficulty issues, if you're familiar with turn-based tactics games you'll absolutely cruise through this. It's alright if you want a fairly relaxed experience. As I tend to lean towards the more complex type of tactics game, I wouldn't recommend it for people interested in a similar experience. Not very engaging and pretty bare bones overall, it didn't hold my attention for long.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little fun mech game, if you liked into the breach you probably will like this one. The heat mechanics are very interesting, even more than in other games like battletech. it's a roguelike, but you can beat it in a fairly short amount of time. Also, who made the soundtrack deserves a raise; no matter what they're paid
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I originally downvoted this game because it has a mechanic that will spawn full units instead of pods which totally throws off your strategy. Until you realize they don't act in the same turn and it only drops them when you're doing too well and will likely end up with a free round or two. Essentially you can get so far ahead with certain builds with large AOE that no pods can get down to the ground that you wouldn't actually be challenged. The mechanic is or will be clarified in game but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like others said, its into the breach but toned down. But due to the game differences id say this game is harder than ITB. Music is incredible and the art style is great, reminds me of those used in Gundam. However, the difficulty is pretty bipolar. On some runs you'll be wrecking everything your way but most of the time the opposite happens. No matter what you do the enemies will either be too many or too tanky. Some missions are so difficult they gimp your entire run even if you do beat…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun mecha roguelike game. You command a mecha squad through several missions gaining new weapons, investigating planets and preparing for the boss fights. There are many weapons to choose so you can try many combinations for your squad. Instead of movements, your actions are influenced by heat (enemies included) so the pyro class is kinda fun to play. The art style is quite clean and reminds me of old mecha animes, It fits the game really well In my first run I ended up making a mini-hell…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has great music, a distinctive art style and intereating battle system with lots of attacks being AoE allowing some interesting combinations, but after failing several runs I can only go and vent my frustration into the review. For example, I time-outed a "destroy all enemies" misson with a cirricular map because a supporting enemy suddenly decided he wanted to run from an enemy to an enemy on the other side leaving me no chance to catch up. Or I lost a boss fight because it suddenly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been itching for some mech turn based tactics, and this game scratches that itch quite well. I love the style, music, and sounds. I wish there was a little more to it, because this game feels great to play. But it's definitely worth the price. If they release some DLC that adds more areas and mission types, I'll grab it, because I want to play more of this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a Good game! Hope they keep delivering the QOL and content updates.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turn limit is WAY too harsh. Its worse than XCOM2, and at least there you didn't have it even start until you were detected. Here you will get 7 turns, sometimes 8 to defeat a bunch of HP bricks. And I saw no way to get any better at the game, doesn't tell you what you get from challenges, and unlike other types of games like this I saw no currency you could use to spend post run to improve either. If the turn limit was totally removed I could see this being fun. And yes, I mean TOTALLY…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was gonna thumb up but -not like the demo way worse -needless tight limit for turns -way way more health on enemies For the game as a whole -lack of healing -lack of inventory -only three pilots/units out -setting are worthless as there ain't no settings -game looks like ass but I expected something literally anything rather then a total amount of F-all for graphic -too much damn RNG -can't speed the game up even with speedhack
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's mechs and anime, but less like "Get in the robot, Shinji!" and more like "haha, kinetic punch go brrr". Quick runs, splendidly drawn and rewarding. Recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is awesome, interesting and deserves lots of attention for the amount of work and love put into it. I hope the devs keep updating it hopefully with a few balance patches and QOL updates. But end all be all, the game is fun and I had a good time with it. give it a buy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't get an 'into the breach' vibe from this game outside of the general aesthetic and even then, it's a stretch. It's more like advance wars with mechs, or a cross between advance wars and FTL (or literally any Roguelike planet/system jump game) This game bites HARD when you mess up. The turn amounts aren't generous at all, with par being a challenge and below par being very difficult without much unlocks. I had a few bugs, in the worst one, one of my mechs didn't die causing a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't really recommend this game. If you MUST play an Into the Breach clone, then go for it. I found it to be a bit cumbersome compared to ITB. The heat mechanics are wayyyy too convoluted compared to ITB. There are certain weapons that are just way better than others (railgun OP). I don't really want to play the game over and over to unlock all the new pilots and I can't really tell if there are any new mechs. It's a perfectly adequate game, but for me, as someone who pretty much 100%'d ITB,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10 I wanted to like this game... This was an clearly an attempt to merry 2 obvious inspirations - Into the beach, a rougelike where you could get screwed by RNG but more often then not, it was your fault that I really enjoyed, and FLT, an overrated RNG fest where 90% of the time you died it was bad dice rolls that I hated. Sadly this game leans more towards FTL than into the breach, despite being a mech themed strategy rougelike like into the breach was. For example, there's nothing more fun…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I guess I thought this was going to be a cross between Into the Breech and FTL. Both, of which, are amazing games be themselves. With Ignited Steel, the combat mechanics are similar to Into the Breech, but lack the punch. I found that most missions were wash rinse and repeat. Sure, you get to customize your mech, but I found the upgrades and customization too limiting. There's also the Heat mechanic which is kind of cool. Instead of most games with a similar feature, IS uses heat as double…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like it, also devs are doing frequent updates and fixes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played through the first two systems and enjoyed the game. Music is good, art and effects are enjoyable. The main complaint that I've got so far is that I want more - more mech types, cores, weapons, story, etc, which I consider to be pretty minor all things considered. It's a very fun game, well worth the price. I did run into two bugs - the Ballistic Shield item says that it cools down my mech but it didn't seem to be doing that, and the far more annoying bug is that after a certain point…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played Into The Breach then you'll get the same vibes. Pros: the unit customization is good even if the items are limited. the price of the game is fair for what you get. and....... that's it sadly. Not much else was interesting. Cons: some serious bugs w/ one of them being gamebreaking. The first bug I had was from the achievements popping on screen and i had to click "ok". Which is fine, but the 'berserker" achievement happened after every singe attack. Seems to happen only when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →finished the tutorial and was rewarded with the "you got every other achievement!" achievement. pretty funny glitch anyway, the game's pretty shallow. rather disappointing. one of those games where i could just feel right away "oh, this is all there is, isn't there?" perhaps unfair of me, only gave it about an hour and a half, might come back someday. but i feel confident
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pure roguelike. Extremely disappointing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a game I wanted to like, and feel it has a lot to love in the core of it, but I am just not sure if it is working as intended in its current form. I had played the pre-release demo that came out shortly before launch and loved the risk/reward concept, and had a blast with the demo. So I finally broke down and got the full release and I don't know but it feels like somewhere between launch and now, something broke? So it is explained the more your mechs heat, the more their damage…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game combines three of my favorite genres into a deep, engaging experience with tons of replayability. The mechs have enough technical dials to feel like mechs instead of Fire Emblem-esque foot soldiers, but the game makes it easy to understand what all these stats do thanks to a clear UI and well written mouse-over tooltips. Music and sound are good as well. The gameplay is absolutely fantastic- it avoids the pitfalls of other tactics games by having interesting maps with terrain that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tutorial achievements dont work. Marco Aznable's special doesnt work.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Battles are quick, but heat and positioning nuance keep the tactics sharp and satisfying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple rogue-like that’s similar to Into the Breach but significantly more forgiving. I think I experienced all the game had to offer in about 50 hours. Some of the achievements seem to be bugged, so don’t expect to 100% this one. It won’t blow your mind, but it’ll make a long flight pass quickly. I’d recommend picking it up on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wish there was a thunbs up, thumbs down, and a shoulder shrug. I'd give this the latter. I'll give it the thumbs up because it was well worth the sales price, but this is a poor man's "Into the Breach". If you are looking for more like that game, then this will be a decent affordable option. But if you want to try this type of game for the first time, there are better out there. I can't quite put my finger on what this is missing but I think partly it's a bit easy ( beat the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →everything i ever wanted out of a simpler mech game. heat yes, dumb enemies yes, out of balance randomised missions yes, sweet upgrades and unbelievable comboes when you hit the jackpot yes. good game, backed with a sweet soundtrack.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyways, play 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Armored Core, Battletech/Mechwarrior, Titanfall, Wolfstride, Heaven Will Be Mine, Into the Breach, Brigador, Mechabellum, Phantom Brigade, Exoprimal, Super Robot Wars, Ignited Steel, Mech Engineer, and any other mech game you can get your hands on
unlabelledView post →Overall a good and well polished game. It took a bit to get into and I almost gave up after 2 hours but I gave it one more try and am loving it now. I think part of the turning point was realizing how the heat mechanic worked so I could really use it to the full. If you don't really understand it, it can be punishing as its core to powering up your mechs but also can really cause them to be damaged. I like that there is more strategy and variation needed based on the different mission types -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spark: The game is deeply mid. 6 out of 10. Playing AC6 got us hard back into the mood for mech games, tactical and real time shooty. It satisfies the mech itch, it's an incredibly casual and fun experience, but there could be a lot more customization for a rougelike. The Ascension/Difficult Modifiers you unlock after beating the game are uninspired. A turn limit makes the game feel strict. The space station/camp fires are lacking as they both double as stores and rest sites, but the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Coming from ITB, this game is fun, significantly easier but lacking tactical depth. The various chasms in the maps are actually invisible walls, you cannot pull units into them or launch projectiles over them. This makes long range sniping virtually impossible, if you wanted to have a ranged fire support role. your deployment options are far more restricted(seriously, please expand the deployment zones on most maps), you cannot view all your stats from the hangar during customisation( this is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little mech tactics game that feels part Into the Breach, part FTL without really being as intense as either one. Once I understood what the game was looking for, I plowed through a full run without any issues until the final map. Not particularly motivated to do more runs, but I enjoyed the one I did.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent game. 6/10 As a Into The Breach player, this game is much easier. I finished the Final boss it in the first run. Although, the scenario of my victory is kinda funny. The boss kill my 1st mech, the mech explodes and kill the 2nd mech, the 2nd mech explodes and kill the 3rd mech and.... the 3rd mech explodes, finish the boss. This game is much less punishment, which make it maybe only 10% hard as Into The Breach. Destroy buildings only give you less money, and a bit of less HP regen…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun game, like a slay the spire but also like into the breach; would play again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. In the style of Into the Breach. Kudos to the developers. The key to success is finding the right mix of primary and support weapons (and cores) for your team. I've played twelve hours and had great fun. A light, enjoyable, fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good game, but I much preferred Into The Breach. There are a few reasons for that. The first one is the action economy: I think the specific amounts of energy for each weapon complicates things unnecessarily. I would have preferred a pool of five or six action points (or if you have to skin it for the game, power cells) where moving x distance costs 1 AP, shooting a heavy artillery weapon costs 4, shooting a lighter weapon costs 1 or 2 AP... Instead I have 120 points and a weapon that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A tactical strategy game that lasts about 1 hour or less. Delightful mechanics, if into the breach was up your alley this is the next game for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a spin on Into The Breach and a pretty solid one at that. If only my garbage car could run on heat instead of oil then Dishonest Joe Bribe 'Em's war with the Ural Mountains or whatever wouldn't be gaping my d*mn ass!!!!
