60 of 159 · most liked firstMasters of Anima is an excellent RPG/RTS hybid. A lot of companies have tried to pull of what Anima does very well and to be honest it's done it excellently, to the point where I can find no faults with the gameplay. The story is excellent and the whole game is voiced, something that AAA titles are missing with all their cash floating around during development. I highly recommend this game if you like RTS gameplay and RPG gameplay. The battles are glorious and the unit selection is quite good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A competent, Enjoyable and well built adventure game ... but its bland story and setting detract from an otherwise enjoyable experience. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qEYLf-NnEY Text: Let start with the good, because a lot of this game is good - its game design, while linear provides a steady progression with decent challenge as you go through the various levels, mobs, "puzzles" and obstacles, increasing in difficulty as you go forward. Also unlocking and learning the usage of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The mouse and keyboard controls for this game are AWFUL. In a regular RTS, you drag-select some units and click where you want them to go. You click again if you want them to go somewhere else. That's not how MoA works. In this game, you can only select one unit type at a time. You can either double-click a unit to select all units of that type, or hold the right mouse down to get an ever-expanding circle, then release to select the units within that circle. You then must click and HOLD the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're not into exploration, you're probably not going to enjoy this game. The levels are large , checkpoints are far & inbetween, and playtime is long, depending on how thorough you want to be looking for the collectable upgrades. The game has no quick-save option, mini-map, or controllable camera. It's a minor annoyance, but I've played adventure games that lack the same features like this, and that didn't stop me from enjoying the game. As far as the bad stuff goes, that's about the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just a quick summary as I'm only nearly 2 hours in. Pros: - Really nice art style. - The game runs great (130+ fps @ 1440p). - Gameplay is fun. - Rewards exploration. - Voice acting is pretty good. - Neat skill progression tree. - Story is intriguing, although not mind blowing. Cons (but to a lesser extent): - Controls take some getting used to (though I am playing with a controller as recommended). - Puzzles are a little too easy. I definitly intend to stick around for the rest of it.

I’ve read comparisons to Overlord and Diablo, but in my eyes it is a fantasy battle game using the Pikmin RTS style of gameplay as its core battle setup. It is not like Overlord because it isn’t as puzzly, the main character is not as involved in direct combat, its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay but suffers from the main part of the game being clunky. Pros: - Looks good - The voice acting is good enough although it can get very repetative in places - The music is good - It's an interesting concept Cons: - Fairly short game - Limited replay value - The puzzles are very basic - The combat is very clunky even with a controller While the combat is so clunky I can't recommend this as it is a frustrating experience at times and given that it is at least 50% of the game it should…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What is Masters of Anima ? Ever heard of games like Overlord or Pikmin ? Masters of anima is like those games, here you play as a mage that can control up to 4 different types of units which you can create an army from, the game has a nice artstyle, its voice acted and theres an interesting story playing in the background, for a cheap indie game its polished with good production values, the gameplay overall if you watched the preview videos are self explanatory, for most part its well-done and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A hard game to classify, sort of an adventure RTS with puzzles. Your character is a shaper who will learn to summon golem like creatures called moppets. You eventually get 5 types, of which you can summon multiples of each, and each have different roles in combat and puzzles. In combat one is good at tanking damage, another at dealing it, another stealing mana, etc. In puzzles one pushes, another digs, another shoots, another clears harmful zones, etc. This coupled with nice presentation…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game for 1 dollar and asked for a refund after 10 minutes, which I didn't think I would ever have to do lol, but the game assets are glitching and disappearing constantly, its entirely unplayable for me unfortunately... Got very good PC btw.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a Pikmin and Overlord fan, I find this game to be amazing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It pains me not to recommend the game, because at first I really liked it. Masters of Anima starts very promising: you are a young shaper who can summon golems to do your bidding. This instantly reminded me of Overlord and Sacrifice. Alas, the game lacks amazing writing of Overlord and great control of units of Sacrifice, and without that, the gameplay turns into a chore. Every puzzle, every fight you struggle more with controlling your units than by figuring out how to win. The UI for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would love to love this game, yet I don't. I played Overlord (1 and 2) a couple of times and I still love it to this day. I love the art style, mechanics, music and everything else about this game besides 3 things. - Maybe, due to the fact that I didn't finish the game and/or am not far enough into it, but the puzzles are too far on the easy side -The journey from one boss to the next is only seperated by puzzles, there are no smaller enemies on the way -The game is hard, too hard for me.…

Remember Locke's Quest? Or even better, Heroes of Mana for the DS? They are both games where you play as a summoner, in the first you conjure all manners of scrap golems to do your bidding, and the whole game revolves around that mechanic, in Heroes of Mana, well... it's the same concept except a little less…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really refreshing game design with good challenges. Art style and voice-overs are excellent, definitely a game done with love. Well done, Passtech Games. Thanks for this gem.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found this game as something Pikmin fans enjoyed, and really was a good "Pikmin-like" game, controllable units that really do differentiate each other, provide different strategies for approaching enemies, etc. World 1 started this way, and towards the end, I started to understand proper combat. You uses Guardians as your front liners, Sentinels as your main power, then the Mages as a support unit. Combat was REALLY fun. However, the final boss of World 1, a giant spider, proved me wrong.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🔵 Decent action RTS game 🔵 Very good artstyle 🔵 Full controller support for being an RTS game 🔵 Flexible level up system. You can reset and allocate how many times you want 🔵 Story is decent with good VO 🔴 Newly summoned units don't automatically attack nearest enemy 🔴 Controls are super cluncky when trying to control multiple guardians 🔴 Puzzles are easy but there's too many of them which can be unfun

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sort of like Overlord 1+2, only with none of the charm, obnoxious minion controls, and a character that controls poorly enough that you sort of wish you didn't have to manage their actions on top of the minions. It wants to fuse the RTS genre and the action/adventure genres and you end up with something that's just bad at both. I found it to be tedious rather than fun, and the art and story are both forgettable and cliche.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, what a great games so far, well done. Pikmin Zelda lovechild is pretty spot on description, but it also seems to grab that childhood RTS vibe. So glad I found this gem.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The level design enforces backtracking if you want to go to side areas. Why not have a teleport back to the main path instead of having 30 seconds of walking? There's a lot of mindless walking and as stated in other reviews the "puzzles" are more like activities. Walk, puzzle, combat, puzzle, combat, walk, walk, combat. That's all the levels, no surprises. All enemies have the same attacks. All attacks are slow. And all attacks are responded to with the same tactic recalling a category…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me preface this review by saying that my listed Steam time is wrong, given that I played the game several hours in offline mode, which isn't counted by Steam itself. Having invested a good junk of time into the game, playing several missions and unlocking all guardians but the last set of them, results in my feeling its about time to write a recommendation. I cannot recommend this game. To me it wants to be Overlord so badly without any of the humor involved in that game. The Protagonist…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it on 2018, played few levels and didn't get motivated enough to play thru this game. Played again in 2020, still feel the same. The major point of me do not wish to proceed further is actually on the control of the AI can be tedious to operates on. If were to compare to traditional RTS, I found the selection of the units is hard for me. Especially it is combined with multiple golem on the field, the re-positioning the units give lots of pressure, then realize that the entire…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game for younger children perhaps but I found it shallow and slow. The story didn't engage me and the gameplay was mediocre.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A sort of strategy adventure hybrid with various summonable units and environmental puzzles to solve. Starts promising, but the combat encounters become increasingly tedious and frustrating the further in you get -- so much so that I'd mentally checked out at the two-thirds-way point and just wanted it to be over. The clunky controls don't help either, and only add to the frustration. 5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does not work on AMD Ryzen 7 7700X and RX 6650 XT. Simply crashes all the time. Don't buy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →keyboard/mouse controls really sucks
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Masters of Anima is an RTS/Action game hybrid which, unfortunately, is kind of mediocre at both: The controls could be better. That being said, it's not unplayable, and experienced gamers will find it easy enough. The characters, setting, and concept of the game are all done well, but the story is somewhat predictable and short. It's not a terrible game, but neither is it a great game. If you're curious, pick it up on sale, and it will entertain you for a day or two.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NIce smooth gameplay, easy to learn easy to master. No stupid long tutorials. Game is a bit short and the story is simple but it's overall a fresh fun play through. Played on highest difficulty and never died.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was alot of fun but 6.5 hours on normal. not as epic as the trailers made it seem but that may have been user error. totally worth the $10 I spent on it. no regrets
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyed this game. Finished on Apprentice level in about 12 hours. Going to play through again on higher levels. Good story, learning curve, and variety to keep things intresting. Would like to see a sequel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Greetings Again! Today I’m reviewing Masters of Anima an action strategy game in the form of Pikminor The Overlord. I’ve been fond of these “Necromancer” or “Summoner” type games for a long time and wanted to see if this game holds up to its spiritual ancestors. Let’s find out! For the Shaper: At the core you play a mage of sorts that summons minions into battle, they are directly controlled either through selecting the group or an area and then selecting what you want them to do based on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Masters of Anima was not a game for me. It started off interesting but quickly fell into the "guy save girl" trope. Now, that's not a bad thing when done right... but the story telling just left me with the feeling of "ugh". It really got bad when you first start the real journey and the elder giving you your test relies on you to solve a simple puzzle because he has "no idea how to fix it". You literally move 4 pillars. I could understand this if he was not there... but he is literally…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game with new mechnics to me providing a good challange and fun, would love to see this expanded on. Worth the price !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →had to write a review, i love this game make sure you save some time cuz it's addictive :) simple yet challenging fast paced battle's, would not suggest for slow players
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Constant crashing. Everytime I advance to another level it just crash. Got to level 5 and I can't take it anymore. Pretty enjoyable if it runs fine.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate doing this, but I cannot recommend this game, after the experience I had... For starters, this is a solid game if I just look at the gameplay.. There is also one single lovely character, Maya. The puzzles, most fights, controls and collectibles are all good. Heck, each level feels distinct from the last. I hate puzzles, but the ones here, were simple and fun to go through. Some decent music. The animations in the game are superb! On top of it, it has a good price tag! And that is about…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty simple for RTS, but definitely not simple for anyone who is not experienced RTS player. I would say, this game is weirdly good choice for people who want to start play RTS games yet afraid of difficulty gap. Also definitely good game AND it's worth it's price, no need to wait for sales. Want to try it? Just buy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The price really saves this game - though I will admit that the RTS sphere is starved of Overlord-likes. Most of the gameplay is good and shallowly scratches that itch that fans of Pikmin & Overlord have, but I think it's missing two key elements. The first of those elements are that the puzzles are simple, and feel more like jumping over a hurdle rather than you attempting to use your brain to solve it. This pads out the run time for a game that is pretty short. The main issue, in my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat and short summoner game. Very much enjoyed the battles towards the end where multiple different units were controlled.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horde control type of games are cool, I like them (very few). This one was enjoyable at first, but the later levels. The controls are so terrible that it becomes a matter of just throwing your basic fodder at the bosses until they die. Some units are outright useless in combat. Really wanted to like this one but, once I hit the 6th level out of 10. I knew I would never play it again. 1 boss took me 9min to kill and over 300 units. The combat is not complex enough to demand the player slowly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Masters of Anima is a Real Time Strategy (RTS) Game. Despite what it claims to be, it is a strategy game. The objective of the game is to save your beloved Anna, who has been Sundered by Zahr and prevent the release of the golems. Gameplay-wise, mouse and keyboard preferably. The controller is possible but it sucks for RTS games. WASD for movement, E to roll, Spacebar to attack, Left Shift to summon, Ctrl to Unsummon, Q to cancel order. Unit Types. There are 5 types of Guardians to summon;…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Many great indie titles are often overlooked due to the insane stream of clutter we get here every day, so I decided to leave a short review. TL:DR Very well made strategy/action rpg (no loot) level-based story driven game. Each level varies from linear with some branching paths, to somewhat open areas, that require exploration. Both of which feature combat with monsters, simplistic puzzles, secret items and upgrades. Graphics: Character models and animations are smooth and distinct, you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →warning: if you want to play it via steam link, you cant. i wrote an email to the devs and they said nope. you simply wont see the screen, just black. besides that its a fun game. the controls feel natural and it just feels like something new
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I gave this game a second chance but it's just not much fun to play. The enemies show you what they're going to do, you react to it either properly or not. There's not much more to it than that. The controls don't help me react to things well.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're looking for a game that makes the basic concept of an RTS accessible, this is a great thing to try. For all that there isn't any base-building, Masters of Anima follows the same basic setup as an RTS: gather resources and spend them to create armies of units you can give commands to in order to complete tasks. It pairs this with a basic ARPG formula, such that it ends up feeling a bit like playing a really in-depth version of a summoner/necromancer/minion-using class that might…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That was some fine sunday entertainment. Played on hardest difficulty. Desire to collect everything made replay one level and at one point I was just stupid, so you might be able to beat it in 7
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PROS: • looks and sounds nice • fresh gameplay (similar to the Overlord series or Pikmin) • some nice puzzles CONS: • Controls! With a contoller it's almost unplayable. Even with mouse and keyboard it's unresponsive! You can't order or select your troops while you attack or do something else. If you gave one order - all units become descelected. Sometimes you can't even select your golems the way you want. • If you lost all your units and there is no Aima around, there is no point in trying.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story 0/10. Gameplay 9/10. Controls take a little while to get used to but once you are it's great. I'd love to see some multiplayer for this game. EDIT: Okay, I've finished the game and I have some more feedback about it. At first, the gameplay seems great. Overlord-inspired mechanics, bit of action and bit of army micro-management and 5 types of minions to unlock!! Well yeah expect that the 2nd, 3rd and 4th minions function the exact same. Put them in a clump at a fair distance and let…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game Crashes after every chapter , now i have rescued Anna Heart can't play furher becuz it wont allow me keep crashing it alot any help would be welcome here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →neat and kinda similar to Pikmin
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the price it is sold a fun little game for inbetween. Nothing really bad to say about it, nothing really groundbreaking either. Got it on sale for less than 2 USD, it was ok for that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edited Review: I replayed the game and ended up enjoying it more than I expected. The mechanics are simple and easy to pick up, which makes it accessible and occasionally fun to jump into. That said, the story still feels pretty underwhelming. The characters especially the protagonist come across as annoying and lack depth, which made it hard to stay fully invested. Overall, I’m glad I gave it another shot, but it’s not something I can strongly recommend. If you’re curious, it’s worth picking…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unique, interesting and stimulating adventure. I didn't expect to get such a good product just for a couple of euros. It is simple and complete. What a good work of the entire development team. Top!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Masters of Anima" is a real-time-strategy action-adventure game about a sorcerer/summoner-apprentice that must rescue his fiancee and save the world from a cataclysm. To do this, you summon different kinds of golems, that you control "Pikmin"-style. The game resolves around intense combat-bits and some nice but a little bit shallow puzzle/exploration. I kind of liked the pacing, but it may be not for everyone. Controlling your army and overseeing the battles is a complex endeavour, but it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are interesting ideas that do not always turn into a good game Masters of Anima felt like a striking mix of action, RPG, and real-time strategy, with a fairly original foundation thanks to the control of guardians and the way each fight tries to depend on positioning and quick reactions. On paper, it works well, and it also has a pleasant visual style and decent presentation. The problem is that this same concept becomes clumsier than it should, because the micromanagement loses fluidity…
