I'm quite a creative person so I enjoy these games where you can renovate and play around with different styles. My main issue with this game is the mechanics. It's a bit clunky and, while you do upgrade tools, etc. as you go along, it can still be quite tedious to decorate rooms. I also find in the beginning when you are given assignments to decorate rooms, you will be given additional assignments to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I initially reviewed this game as recommended. I am updating that review now to not recommended. Look, if the game is on sale for $6 or less like right now, it is fine. But be aware that after playing and encountering some staggering bugs that should be easy to fix for the developers, I did some digging to see why these bugs exist in this game, and realized that the developers abandoned this game and basically gave the excuse that this is their first game release and they are giving up on it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm 3 hours into this game and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. Maybe it gets better, but at the moment, the mechanics are just frustrating. Items can only by placed in the cardinal directions, so you can't angle anything if you want to. Lighting is very concentrated to just near the light, so rooms never seem to look well lit. When trashing things, you have to use a crowbar and click on EVERY little piece of trash, and if you accidentally click a little off the trash, you hit the floor…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is similar to house flipper. Let me be straight, the whole thing feels half-baked. The gameplay is very repetitive - destroy whatever is inside a room, clean up, renovate and add furniture. Literally nothing else besides sometimes getting interrupted by a random event. The game doesn't even have a way to search for items, instead you have to browse through the entire catalogue just to find what you need. I don't understand the appeal of these scuffed simulators, they are all alike…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hotel Renovator - Renovate First, Learn Controls Never Finished the game and still don’t know half the controls. Accidentally discovered that you can change color with the spacebar for certain objects. Which ones? No idea. And apparently the game and I have different opinions on what blue is. Game speed? The only confirmed setting is 0 = pause. Everything else is apparently classified information. Nice renovation system, but the controls feel like an escape room with missing clues. Verdict:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing. From the gameplay to the lore, this game is for casual and hardcore gamers alike. The lore is extremely rich and deep and it will keep you invested. I recommend this to anyone.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dull simulator game that does nothing to make renovating hotels fun. a lot of assets are lazily made and there's plenty of bugs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did I enjoy playing this game? Mostly, yes. It's exactly the type of game I like to unwind to with a podcast in the background. I liked the variety of stuff, the amount of rooms I can decorate (and redecorate), the freedom I had within the quests. I did 100% it... Would I recommend it? No. The game is buggy, tedious at times and sadly, is now abandoned... :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rough game, I first thought it was an early access. Quickly repetitive, starts fine but gets boring. not much content, not even 10 hrs but feels like 100.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This would be a pretty decent hotel renovation game if it weren’t for the absolutely terrible optimization, random crashes, and one too many bugs. In my less than 10 hours of playtime, I had the game crash on me a good 5 or so times, mainly at the beginning. Luckily, it does seem to save your progress very often. But that is not the only bug you run into. I have had problems with items not being removed properly, walls not wanting to be painted for no reason, and quests not being fulfilled as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandonware. The buying furniture / floor / walls and such UI is the worst i've ever seen. No search bar, no categories, no "recently used", no "you need this for this room". Its just a scroll bar in the bottom of the screen and its horrible. Rest of the game is pretty cool but holy **** that interface is bad. 3/10 -7 for the interface.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a lot of issues. That being said, you can still have fun with it for a bit. Just be very clear, that you will get into an abandoned and unpolished game with lots of issues (head over to the discussion board to get an impression). For the full price of 25€ I can't recommend it, if you get it in a bundle or for less than 5€ go for it,

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m currently addicted to this game called Hotel Renovator there’s something so satisfying about destroying rooms then making them look nice
unlabelledView post →Worked my way through buggy mechanics all the way to the penthouse. Now part of the rooms in there won't let me put paint on ceilings and walls. I tried different varnishings, deleted everything with dynamite. Restarted game several times. The more I try the more walls end up bare and unresponsive to anything I'm doing. Now all that's left to try is to PLAY THE WHOLE GAME FROM THE START. Fan-fricking-tastic.

unlabelledView post →This is by far the buggiest game ever. The UI is a mess, doing things is a genuine nightmare. Wanna paint a wall? Paint each square individually while holding down the button. It's not pleasant to play, there's no music and hardly any sound effects. Got this game as part of a bundle and I would not have bought it even if it was on sale. Trust the reviews and don't buy. I was expecting something like House Flipper but instead got a dreadful simulator that doesn't even try to mimic real life…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned and unfinished game, beware... Thank goodness I didn't pay much for this. Looks really good to begin with and then you realise the devs ran away and it's a buggy mess that's missing a bunch of essential QOL features. Really frustrating because it would only need a few of those things sorted to make it great. Without these things it feels like it just isn't worth investing time in. Specially if the end result is going to be a let down. Dammit, I had really started enjoying it too...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There hasn't been an update in so long, and with all the issues, I feel like the devs abandoned this game, which is really unfortunate.

unlabelledView post →I have barely played this game for 10 minutes, and it is riddled with bugs, calling it unoptimized would be much too nice and the controls are horrendous. Games like house flipper have clearly shown that these mechanics don't need to be insanely slow and weird, they can be pretty self-explanatory and fun. The controls of this game are truly not. Painting a wall feels like slamming your head into a wall repeatedly. I can honestly not fathom why this game is rated “Very Positive” at the time of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I rarely write reviews but this is one of the rare cases where I feel like I need to. The premise overall is pretty cool, the core gameplay and mechanics are fun and while it does lack some basic customization, it's not the end of the world. You just have to give up on either matching furniture or having things look the way you want them to look. While I was upset about it in the beginning, I just took it as another challenge for the game. The game also lacks basic QOL like being able to undo…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun for what it is: a renovation simulation game where you basically not only renovate the hotel but you own it too. This means if something break in a room, you have to fix it or call someone to fix it for example. It is very whimsical; with some ridiculous people showing up at the door, and a chicken that is your sworn enemy for most of the game, and even ghosts. Plenty of references to movies and other pop culture things. The game itself is straightforward: you start with the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are different opinions on this game. All I can say is that I've been having a good time playing the sandbox mode, which still has quite a few story elements to it. I haven't encountered any bugs yet, and it runs perfectly fine on my mid-tier system. There are some things that keep the game from being, imo, the best that it could be, some relatively minor things and one major thing. The minor things include stuff like having a "recently used" option for quickly accessing flooring, wall…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You are renovating your grandfather's old hotel. Unfortunately, the game has a lot of things that are bad for it. Yes, you can customize the room to your liking, but only under certain conditions. To finish the room, you have things that you have to put there. For example, every room must have two chairs, there must be an couch, there must be room accessories, etc., etc., otherwise you can't finish it. Sometimes the game will tell you that a room has to be black and red, or that the guest…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like a early access game but seems to be fully done with?, big disappointed and frustrating gameplay having to click alot of things 1 by 1 which gets old really fast, runs really badly for me aswell either can have it run at like 30-50fps on epic high or 60+ on med low but looks just really bad and this was with a 1660 super the npcs seem to be very buggy aswell, seems like could be a good game but needs alot more work done on it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is some fun to be had, but the bugs become *really* annoying. And the developers are not going to fix them.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well I did enjoy this game, but it certainly had it's issues! -The ghost removal situation was completely unneccesary and an annoying part of the game. If they wanted to incorporate it as part of the story line, that would be understandable, but it wasn't -The options and menu, as well as the time consuming way in which you have to change the color/style of an item is choppy and amateur looking at best as compared to other design/renovaion games. -The story line could have either not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game if you have the time and the patience, as with all of the reconstruction sims. This is one the games where you can just chill out, and take your time to build your own hotel, got to say fun for a designer or a creative person. Let's start with the good things. You can choose between the story or sandbox type of gameplay. Now I went with story based and, the story itself is, well simple enough, but it kind of at least sketches in the background of the old hotel and how it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 feels like its early access and this game looks to be abandoned real shame cause i was looking forward to this game -25$ price tag - bugs - lacking in many basic feature of this genre
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game play is great, really was having fun. Ended up spending hours and Tens of thousands of dollars renovating the lobby. Only to have a quest line come, and blow up the whole lobby with some TNT while filming a music video. No option to skip the quest, or decline it. Whole lobby destroyed, had to start over. I promptly uninstalled the game and requested a refund for the DLC I just purchased. That was diabolical. If you are neurodivergent like I am, some times you deviate from the main…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy, bloated abandonware. Even when it's on sale, probably not worth it - go and enjoy House Flipper and House Flipper 2.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game, but there are multiple issues. First- UI is not super responsive. There are a lot of bugs and freezes. Doesn't appear the dev is fixing or updating anything. I played this when it first came out and then stopped. Couldn't remember why. After starting a game from scratch and running into multiple bugs- like not being able to finish painting a room because the wall is bugged and won't let you destroy or paint or change it- but you can't progress w/o being able to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hotel Renovator is a simple but clunky tycoon/job simulator game with a straightforward premise. You're in charge of a worn down/trashed hotel and you need to clean up the mess, decorate the place, and get guests in to pay you tips so you can make more money and buy more decorations. Ok. Key problems here are that the game truly is a clunky nightmare, the UI is unpolished and not much fun to use, it's unintuitive to guess the right ways and times to use tools to clean up trash, destroy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this game, enjoyed decorating the rooms to what I liked then just added the bits that the customers wanted. I loved the fact everything was different and all the design's wasn't the same. The missions with the hen where quite fun. I spent alot of time on the game and very much enjoyed it. I would give this game a try if you like running a hotel and enjoy designs and creating things.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried to enjoy the game, I really did, but I can't recommend it, even as someone who got it for free. The lack of optimisation really hurt. It's considered to be out of early access, but it truly does feel like a beta version of the game. It's extremely hard on your PC and lowering the texture quality to anything below the highest options remove any detail from it. Attempting to paint more than 5 tiles at the same time drops the fps to below 20. I have quite a high end PC, but I simply…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy, lacks quality of life tools, dev hasn't posted in a year about any upcoming updates, and clunky controls. I can forgive things like the quite peculiar guests and the quirky plot, but I couldn't get over cleaning a place that refused to be cleaned, wasting so much time trying to find the one particular item the game wants me to place (there's no search--remember that QoL need?), and the gameplay loop became so tedious and punctuated by the same 2 or 3 interruptions constantly (elevator…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My wife is an interior design manager so I downloaded this game on PS5 called Hotel Renovator and I had so much fun playing the game with her. I did the controller work and she made all the design decisions. It was like my two favs combining into the ultimate couples activity.
unlabelledView post →If I have to manage your hotel, at least give me a minimum wage | KAMGUSTA's MINI REVIEW It's better than I thought. You restructure rooms of a hotel, while managing it (trying to). You'll deal with the destruction process (removing trash, removing furniture, removing tiles...) and the building one. Sometimes, you'll have to fulfill strange requests (adorning the room for a -maybe- vampire) and complete curious minigames (catch a chicken). Graphics are very nice. Decorating rooms by your taste…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →- Good content but limited usage - Sometimes when moving objects they get stuck in mid-air - Many other bugs such as certain textures of wallpaper or flooring need to "Sometimes" be crowbar smashed to be able to paint over again. Other times even that doesn't work and you need to first paint a DIFFERENT colour and THEN the one you want :S Would be a positive when they fix all these problems, but otherwise it should be listed as EARLY ACCESS for now.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game starts out very promising and feels kind of rewarding until you realize what it actually is: A canvas. It's not really a game. The issue is that there is absolutely zero "simulation" of NPCs actually "using" the rooms, therefore things like Beds blocking doorways, toilets 6ft high on the wall etc. are absolutely no problem at all. The game only demands certain objects to be inside the room, where exactly these objects are, if there is space to walk around and use them - that does not…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat idea poorly executed. Over 30 GB suggests to me that the game is not particularly well optimized and it doesn't run great, I ran into lighting, gameplay, and physics bugs. The hotel management aspect is barely implemented, no real process for guests checking in and out, but hey, you can catch ghosts and roll dice with a chicken, if that's the reason you wanted to play a hotel renovation game. The actual renovation part of the game is okay, the UI is clunky, and the color options are a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked this up as a casual simulator and ended up 100%-ing it… which probably says more about me than the game 😄 Hotel Renovator is a pretty straightforward renovation sim. You clean, paint, furnish, and repeat — and if you enjoy decorating, it can actually be quite relaxing. The start is a bit slow, but once you unlock more tools in story mode, the pacing gets much better and renovating becomes way less tedious. Personally, I went all-in on decorating the early rooms, but later on I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not the worst "flipping" simulator on the market, but it's still not really good. The attempt at a story was kind of funny actually, but just pointless. Just play House Flipper. It's houses not hotels, but at least House Flipper has much better UI and more intuitive mechanics going for it. Thought I'd 100% Hotel Renovator because why not. Don't regret it because of how quick and simple it was, but just wasn't worth it overall.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game, very easy to build and renovate
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got a key from a friend's humble bundle. I do not recommend this game and I've played plenty of simulator slop and even ones that aren't particularly polished have stability. The game isn't stable at all, got my first fatal error in thirty minutes, and apparently the devs abandoned the game since the last patch was in late 2023 (this review is February 2026). It feels like an alpha. Controls even on a gamepad are non-intuitive and feel like I'm fighting the game. Granted I'm using Linux but…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So you know those [train station/waterpark/restaurant/gas station/motel/whatever] simulators out there? This is kinda like that, but with a bit of a story and random events happen. In one moment I a designing a room for a vampire, the next some rockstar throws tnt and clears out my lobby. Its fun and neat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is something very addictive to see messy and decaying room being refurbished and made into nice clean ones. Yeah, the game is janky and you will experience a lot of weird stuff, especially when the guests are basically ghosts, going through closed doors, but I enjoyed the aspect of filling the rooms with nice things and making everything basically more beautiful.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game feels like an early access title. It's poorly optimized and severely lacking some logical QoL improvements (navigating menus is awful, speed and color changing share the same keys, can't automate pretty much any activity until you're done with most of the story and the list goes on). Somehow, somewhere you can find some fun if you really like decorating and don't mind navigating slow menus (and the game crashing sometimes too). Wouldn't recommend unless you can get for real cheap and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I started this game when I wanted to take a break from sweaty action games, it was also the first game from this genre that I tried. The “management” side of things like running a hotel, getting guests, seeing their requirements does feel interesting but grindy and a little repetitive. The point of the game which is renovating, painting, placing furniture and finishing a space which was originally a mess, gives a weirdly calming and creative rush, especially if you enjoy designing or want…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat game, received for free from a friend. Expected a house flipper clone, got something more intimate and flowing. The world isn't just an empty space, but a living one with hotel staff and guests checking in. That liveliness does become background noise as the events are quite samey (and limited in number), but still, an enjoyable experience. Major Take-Away's: • Fun game play loop, albeit tedious in this post-story stretch (here's 3 nearly-identical floors to pad out game length) • Money…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's mostly a fun game, however it can be a bit clunky. For example, placing things on shelves, doesn't always work. When I select the Date Palm, I can't place it anywhere without it flipping around on its own and I'm unable to place it near a wall. It would also be great to be able to customise the decorations a bit more. It would be nice to have more wood panelling, like you see at the start of the game as an option for decorating the walls. To have a more vintage look. Just a…
