Great!, wait, I have to wait a week in real time before I can store my base!?! WTF?? So you have just made fancy adjustments…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →220+ hours in. I’m still playing even with the population drop, so this is not a rage-quit review. Gameplay / balance: Moment-to-moment gameplay is actually really fun. Flying, spice runs, base building, sneaking supplies back without getting jumped — feels great and “Dune,” not generic survival. Combat and gear are in a way better place than launch. Early on you had rocket cheese, scouts sprinting around like anime ninjas, and PvP choke zones where day-1 no-lifers camped resources and bullied…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They finally added Single Player, this revived the game for me as I couldn't care less about multiplayer. Finally no more ugly bases blocking the paths, and the world being lonely and desolate, as it should be. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my first review on Steam. I normally don't see the point. But this time I feel strongly that the negative reviews are outdated and I want the game to succeed. The developers have been incredibly responsive to the community, making sweeping changes to respond to the complaints. Even the negative reviews typically admit the leveling experience is enjoyable and one of the most atmospheric games of the year (which I wholeheartedly agree with) but I'm writing this review to say that the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am not an average gamer, I play solo on a private server. I harvest, I build and I inner RP. MMO Side: I NEVER wanted a Dune MMO, I wanted a Dune Survival game that allowed coop and private worlds. Every single issue i have with the game comes from the forced mmo aspect of it. Forced involvement with Funcom, forced internet connection, forced downtime, forced changes to the game, seems like every patch has moved the needle away from fun for me. I stayed out of DD. At first, I was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't play multiplayer games anymore so I was really excited when the single player version of Dune:Awakening was released. I have been playing for about 20 hours and have barely scratched the surface of all the content. The devs have allowed single players to totally customize the game so it is balanced for them. I am 77 and don't have the abilities or reflexes of a younger player. I was easily able to adjust the difficulty of all the various things in the game to match my skill set. This…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve loved Dune since I was a kid, from the time I watched the first movie. I’ve read Dune. I’m reading Dune Messiah right now. I own the art books. The vinyls.. even the beautiful catastrophe that is Jodorowsky's Dune. I am not a tourist who wandered into Arrakis. I have over 3,000 hours in this game. I have multiple accounts, just to give a little extra support to the studio. Seven copies in my household. I play on two of the most populated NA servers, a low-pop server, and a private…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forced end game PVP killed this game. No end game PVE content killed this game. Taxes and powering shields every 20 days killed this game. Devs you killed your own game. Do better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After being gone for a three week trip my whole base is gone, even thought I made sure to pay the taxes and refuel the shields. Not going to bother rebuilding everything up and finishing the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You like Dune? You'll like this. You love Dune? You'll love this. Yes, the endgame and the pvp are wack, but you can get 50-100h of great gameplay before having to care about either. So if you want at least 100 hours of Dune flavored fun, get this. Also, as someone who read the book, this is incredibly detailed and really gets it right. It's beautiful.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The failure of COD and the decline of Battlefield really made it every other online game's problem. Everywhere I look, people crying that there isn't enough PVP... someone please make these lost souls a new shooter! I myself, am a lame ass PVE player, and I came back to Dune to farm in peace. I couldn't be happier.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They Are FINALLY Fixing this game in the right Direction. PvE players will now have the Complete PvE Experience They have been begging for all year Including a Fully PvE Version of the Deep Desert for themselves. The PvP people now Have the Fully PvP Deep Desert Restored where they can Fight each other all day long for higher rewards for their risk like they have been asking for since June. Everyone got what they wanted (except for the people that just wanted to Gank solo people in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels like the developers lost the vibe at the end game. It went from a survival resource gatherer, to a FFA PvP gankfest. There is no advantage gained from PvP, yet there are still those that live for the thrill of ganking someone trying to farm resources. Half the vehicles are pointless the moment you get a thopter too. The game was a lot of fun in the beginning - when the environment was the challenge and you had well balanced npcs/fights to overcome. Resources felt scarcer and you had…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To me, the game now feels like a construction site run by interns and AI. Dune: Awakening’s endgame is stuck in a fundamental identity crisis. The game tried to be both a deep solo RPG where one character can eventually master every craft and combat skill, and a proper MMO that needs specialization, scarcity, and interdependence to make trading, alliances, and social systems matter. By letting every live-server character unlock everything, Funcom satisfied the solo grinders but also turned…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first, I really liked Dune: Awakening. Even the grinding wasn’t that bad — until you hit the high-tier tech. That’s when the real pain begins: non-stop water hunting, resource chasing, and absolutely obnoxious time-gates on every production building. I’ve played other Funcom survival games, so I know this is kind of their trademark. But in Conan Exiles, you could tweak harvesting rates, construction costs, and other settings to make the experience enjoyable. In Dune? None of that exists.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game right up until the forced PVP. Not all of us want to pvp and forcing non pvpers to go into pvp areas to do endgame content is a stupid way to build a game.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 78 years old and play this game with my children. I love to gather resources my daughters love to build so everyone does their thing until.... it is time to kill. We all love to collect bodies and suck their blood for recycling. Collecting spice is an adventure we all participate in. Love the game and oh by the way thank you for making it easier to get from driving to the turret. Oh and by the way, we love being able to label our vehicles and boxes, keep up the good work.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a game that is right for: 1. Fans of Dune. It's very lore-friendly, but creative! A "what if" scenario that makes the story better with its own pretty well done plot! If you ever wanted to do a spice harvesting operation with a harvester, a carrier and a spotter ornithopter and go for riches while risking opponents in PvP, worms and storms - this game is IT! SPOT ON! If you ever wanted to explore and mingle the Atreides and Harkonnen - this is IT. The story's good. The lore is valid. It…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is this a joke? We waited half a year for this? The Season 3 main questline is four hours of absolutely boring arena fights, interrupted by “go fetch” quests, a couple of short dialogues, and a “thank you for playing” notice. They developed the story so little that it’s barely even noticeable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think its funny all the people complaining about the games forced PVP have not been keeping up with current events. It is being removed The DEVS listen. There is TONS of content in this game, with more on the way. Housing, exploring, dungeons, co op, upcoming server merges because yes they OVER EXTENDED themselves with bad systems they are removing. Fun gameplay, do what you want, decent quests, things to find hidden ALL OVER (like chest in out of the way places). Take your TIME. Slow…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve been playing this game since pre-launch, and i can't leave... Everyone's gone. The guild, friends, the fun... Now I'm the only one. I still log in. I still do solo runs and lost it all to that. I still take care of the base like it’s a memory museum. Sometimes I think about quitting, moving on, but there's something i can't explain. At the end, I have it all, and I have nothing. Would I recommend Dune Awakening? If you’re here for fast rewards or constant hype, probably not. But if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a solo player and I love the game, I just wish it was made more for people like me, and less massive guilds and deep desert PVP fests.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play Time: 475.3 hours The theme of the game is fantastic. The story is excellent. However, turning something so beautiful into this mess is a real skill in ruining things; it’s the answer to how you can take something that started well and make it terrible. As a working adult, my most valuable asset is time. If a game can take away everything you’ve worked on for months in a single mistake, you cannot hide behind the excuse of “This is a Survival game”. What does this mean? You work, you get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, Dune Awakening is probably one of my best Survival RPGs out there today. The building is intuitive and forgiving. The graphics and design of the models make it visually pleasing. The game's first 100 hours will have you hooked as the game takes you along a journey to end game. The story will keep you interested, and the survival aspects will have you engaged and immersed in the world. The negative this game received in 2025 was the developers failed to address immediate end game issues and…

unlabelledView post →Great game for Dune fans but know there is no end game. When you build expect to pay taxes until the end of time or the desert claims your build. I've spent almost 800 hours in this game and had to take a break due to some real life issues. I couldn't keep up with the game and I lost everything I worked on for 800 hours. Once you get to the end of the story and the end of content for building, that's it. Pay your taxes every couple of weeks or lose everything you've worked toward. This game has…

unlabelledView post →There is the shell of a great game here. At its best, I had genuine fun—base building, collaborating with other players, raiding decaying structures, and exploring a world that almost feels alive. But the game currently sits in an awkward middle ground between genres, and that indecision undermines everything it tries to be. It isn’t like Rust, where decay and resets are expected and understood. where loss is part of the loop. At the same time, it doesn’t offer the sense of permanence or…

No point playing If you want to play casually and are not going to have a group of people online regularly to keep your base powered and taxes paid. While it is an enjoyable game for the most part, I consider this no longer worth playing if the developers don't implement a single player or self-hosted drop in dropout co-op mode with more content that would work in the same way as their other game Conan Exiles or similar titles such…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dune: Awakening is a very good game overall. The design, graphics, and gameplay mechanics work together almost perfectly and create an immersive experience. Exploring the world, building, and progressing through the early and mid-game feels satisfying and well thought out. Unfortunately, the fun starts to fade when you are forced to enter the Deep Desert and farm resources in PvP zones. The developers added a PvE section of the Deep Desert, but farming any meaningful amount of spice sand there…

unlabelledView post →What can I say? Funcom does what Funcom always does. They have an EXCELLENT idea then absolutely can't manage to put it out in a coherent way. What is wrong with Dune, you might ask? You would think it would be near impossible to mess this up, but they've done it plenty before with other IPs. Secret World, Conan, pretty much everything they touch turns to dookie. Funcom is synonymous with the exact opposite of the Midas Touch. They make this great Dune Survival game right? Single-Player? Nope.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been playing Dune Awakening with my cousin and my takeaways are 1) I totally understand why Shia-Hulud is worshiped. I stop everything I’m doing and watch them with my mouth agape like “…. Wow.” 2) Early game feels like a co-op solo survival game rather than an MMO.
unlabelledView post →This game will forever be a perfect example of a brilliant idea executed terribly. Funcom is a true believer in the 1 step forward 2 steps back approach. The first ~60hrs of pve content is pretty fun. The end game is awful. They added a late game skill tree that has time locked progression. Theoretically, it would take a minimum of 1 year to complete all of the items and that is assuming that you play at least weekly. PvP is even worse. If you are a new player interested in PvP, like I was, let…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My wife and I bought this and were put onto a server all to our selves. We played the game saw very few people, maybe once every 4-5 days. We built about 3 homes over our 200 hours and the last one is now sitting in a pistol (they let you store your home in a future gun). With the said, at the end of our journey we were met with PvP and hostile groups constantly, destroying weeks of progression. The end game is PvP and if that is not something you are into, then I would suggest stay away.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really interested in this when it came out, but being an MMO and the talk of pvp turned me off of it. Since the recent changed I decided to try it and have had a blast for almost 200 hours now mostly solo. Now with the announcement of splitting off the PvP fully from the PvE portion I am writing this to wholeheartedly support this game and the direction its going in. I hope the PvP portion can thrive, nothing against it but just not what im interested in.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Funcom has fumbled one of the most popular and historic IP's to ever exist. I don't know where to begin. Things started off looking good, unlocking new useful technology at a quick pace, exploring new places, finding useful recipes for unique equipment that have interesting effects, and it's DUNE. Then I hit duraluminum tier and this is the point where the game goes from being about getting better at combat, improving your equipment, and exploring new areas to acquire new materials, and…

Return email from the devs was basically you're SOL, but here, have some garbage gear that you don't want to help you on your way to farm…

From the moment I logged in, the improvements were clear — new content, refined gameplay, and meaningful additions that elevate the entire experience. The expanded world feels richer and more immersive, while the balance changes make combat and progression feel smoother and more rewarding. I especially loved the new quests and environmental details — they add depth to the Dune universe and keep me coming back for more.…

Not because this is the greatest game ever made . . . but it scratched my "real life avoidance" itch for a long time and, in many many ways, it is very well executed. I have a lot of respect for Dune Awakening. Someone gave Funcom the remit to create a Dune experience and they TOTALLY accomplished that. There are so many systems that work well in this game. The movement mechanic is SO GOOD and SO FUN. The suspensor field + zipline . . .. makes you want it in…

I am the kind of guy who bounces between games frequently and knowing that my base is going to eventually decay when I am offline is disheartening. I know that they are adding a base storage system but I doubt it'll be an early to midgame unlock. I know logistically it is hard to just add an offline version of the game but this game really needs it. The game overall is a 8.5/10 but with the always online aspect it…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is fine. The crafting is fine. But there is no end game worth playing, even the PVP is kinda lame. It's like "hey, you've finished all the quests. Now you get to grind for no reason whatsoever. Yay!"

After nearly 500 hours, I’m finally throwing in the towel (fuguratively speaking as some gamer's have not understood). While I wanted this to be my "New World" successor, Dune: Awakening has become a lesson in frustration. This week alone, my guild lost our entire Deep Desert base due to a server error, and today I lost a full Mk6 buggy and a cargo container overflowing with Titanium Ore to "texture swallowing." The physics engine is currently a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game. I genuinely do. The core of Dune Awakening is compelling. The Landsraad system encourages coordination. Farming and base-building loops are fun and engaging. The new Chapter 3 additions show real potential. And the Dune universe gives it a strong thematic glue. But the execution and product they have delivered continues to undermine player trust. Just this week, a small number of players discovered an exploit that allowed destruction of bases in PVE. Instead of…

One they tell you: You can only have 5 upgrades to the horizontal and vertical space of the base. That's fine, so I figure I'll work within the confines of that. Then, after weeks of building an awesome base you hit the limit that they hide in your fief console that no one looks at. 5000 building pieces. That's it. It doesn't go up if you fill up your staking units either. So here I am without…

The sun matters. Water matters. Distance matters. At the start you feel weak, slow, and basically stuck with F-tier movement, but that is what makes the progression feel so good. You slowly go from barely surviving to having some of the best movement abilities I have played with in a survival game. Hagga Basin before flying feels alive.…

When the glitches got so bad it literally ate your vehicles that (You know, the good ones you spent 3-4 hours farming for) fell through the world, then told "tough luck!" by support. I got very tired of it really fast. I enjoy farming/grinding games, but this was excessive. Definitely not for casual players, or players who don't enjoy PVP. Also it had a big problem with the game crashing while you are in the middle of nowhere and you log in to find out you died…
