This time it is focused on the secret spy agency, where the player has to manage his own spy headquarters and train professional spies to uncover the truth behind the evil spy corporation. Pros: + Funny game with lots of humor and mass culture references + Extremely satisfying progress system + Adorable potato-alike characters + Simulation and management mechanics implemented very well +…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely terrible gimmick (gameplay "mechanic") springs in halfway through the game and ruins any potential it had. Basically, any character you liked, worked, or loved will betray you.... by design. Too bad, too, it was a decent game up until the developer foisted that twist on me a couple hours in (which in my book is also kind of a subpar move). If you enjoy working to build up characters to be effective or at all appreciate your time that's invested stay away - this game makes for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy Potatoes A Spy Story?! may very well be the most entertaining game I've played in a while. It combines the management sim style that I love oh so much, with an amazing art style, and really fun references to pop culture and their other games! Not only that but the story and comedic dialogue has me wanting more. After so many games that are so focused on realism and stunning graphics, it's really nice to go back to the cartoony art style and gameplay that just wants to be fun. I highly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm always on the fence about these potato games - they look appealing to me, but sometimes I can tell I won't like them watching videos and I tried one and didn't like it (3&4 below). This one was a winner for me for because: 1. No resource collection (3 woods + 2 stone to make an axe or whatever). In this game it just takes a spy's time to make an item. 2. Creates good choices - do I want to make a lot of small investments in training my spies or save up for a big building upgrade? 3. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liked the game even if it is too repetitive. Didn't like there was still no fix for those bugged achievements, months after being reported to the devs !!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Comparred to Holy Potatoes! What the hell?!, this game is a step up in term of both the art and the gameplay. The cute and signature 2D art is back, and the gameplay will definitely suit the taste of those who played Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! (HPAWS). Summary: If you are into sim management, or you have played HPAWS before, then this is for you (they have the building mode this time too). However, if your first Holy Potatoes game is the Space one, then this quite different from it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gets repetitive fast. If you like the previous games, you will likely enjoy this one. But if you felt them lacking, then this may not be for you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spy spuds on too-dangerous missions TLDR: Thumbs down for not being able to figure it out enough to get far. Your mileage my vary. Twins Rexa and Ren start a spy agency, and, on the side, sleuth out what happened to their parents. Rexa is a scientist and inventor, and Ren is a spy with a robotic arm. (You'll discover the reason for the arm along the way.) You, as the twins, hire spies to work for you. Said spies are clever plays on many pop culture figures. Each spy has a job class…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Right of the bat, I love it! i love the design, i love the gameplay, and i love the writing. It seems Daylight trully embraces the "Kairosoft" influence in this game, even more so than every game they made before. and thats not a bad thing. even tho I don't really appreciate the random elements in the game as much as i did on the previous games (We're in Space was awesome on this), the game's tactical options really made me think on how to effectively allocate resources to furthre increase my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy Potatoes! A Spy Story?! is an annoying game with a title that is far too long. The gameplay is boring and repetitive and it's far too easy to screw the game up so bad that you can't complete it and have to start again. Beyond that there just wasn't anything that kept me wanting to come back! It was just dull and unfunny. No matter how many references to movies I like you make you're not going to win me over.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game with many hidden references! Runs really smoothly as well! Highly recommended as a fun and relaxing game with a quirky story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've tried 6 times to play this game in casual mode, and still haven't been able to finish it. If you don't train your spies, they can't level up enough to complete the higher levels, If you do train them enough, then they become unhappy and betray you. If you try the splicing thing enough to get happy, leveled up spies, you run out of resources and can't finish the game, either. I'm sure there's a fine line to walk in order to finish, but it's too aggravating to try to figure out the optimum…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll create a more precise Review later on, but this game deserves a good review. I enjoyed it very much and already plan my next session on it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I must admit that the development team keep on exploitting new game mechanism. As a result, the studio presents us many fun potato games with different mechanisms. For the spy story, I'm very frustrated by the role that the luck played in the game, which encourage u to play the game in a S/L style. Uncovering the key tiles in the map costs lots of money, which prevent u to devolop ur agents further more. Considering the intrinsic mechanism, I don't expect any substantial change will happen…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not completing a main mission by the deadline causes an automatic gameover, unfortunately I was not told this until the deadline was almost at hand and encountered a situation where none of my team members were strong enough to complete the mission. It's a shame because the game was somewhat enjoyable before this occured (if a little grindy). I'll have to ask for a refund since I don't want to restart my entire game and know it would only frustrate me the farther along I get in the game.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game soft locks you behind making certain levels of gear REQUIRED to start a mission but will not give you enough resource to upgrade those gadgets to the required level. Not sure if its bugged but my spies' morale kept lowering even after numerous successful missions, mood boosting set bonuses with the buildings, giving gifts, and matching training/work with the stupid 3 category personality mechanic. The game starts out boring and ends annoying/aggravating. Do not get.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun till the the missions became impossible if you can solve this ill reconcider until then this rating stays
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game started super fun, but it quickly became WAAAAAY too micro-managing really quickly. It stopped being fun after a few missions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Big fan of the Holy Potatoes series, and this one certainly exceeded my expectations! It had all the things you want out of a management game with a colorful cast of characters, customizing your own base, quirky storyline, and enough pop culture references to make a gamer cry for joy. My favorite part is naming all your spies after friends or characters, and themeing a new playthrough around that. My university friends and WoW guildies loved screenshots of these playthroughs. So much fun to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really didn't enjoy this title. Too convoluted and the style is too cartoony for my tastes
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful cutesy arts. Interesting game mechanics. Great humor with the funny puns as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone who love this game genre. Such a value for money at this price point.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love these enjoyable little games. Bug-free, great puns and they're at the right price point for the content. So far this is my second favorite of the 4 (we're in space being my #1). Time management is always an issue with these, so plan your teams and quests accordingly. Also, I'm just going to let you know now, I have absolutely NOT stolen their pun-filled character names and used them in MMOs. ETA: I could use more in-depth tutorials or a better way to access information after the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy Potatoes! A Spy Story?! is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app is one of those "manager" games where you manage a business and a roster of spies. You dispatch the spies on missions, each mission has a number of obstacles, so you tell the spy in vague terms what strategy to apply, then they go off and RNG the mission. You curate your spies, train them etc etc, with tycoon like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very repetitive, with surprisingly little strategy really ever needed. Good start, needs work
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Похоже на одну из предыдущих частей Weapon Shop, только про шпионское агенство. Наскучивает быстрее.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Achievement registration is bugged. Don't start secret mission early, it requires latest vehicles (which for me unlocked only while doing this mission) or early spy class (ninja for me) to complete. Save often in different slots for above reasons. 20 dp is enough for building to halve it's upgrade/production costs. Try getting all spot bonuses asap as you unlock buildings. Don't retire your spies until you've unlocked splicing. Mood management is easy if you have 4-6 spies used only in missions…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2/10 Holy Potatoes! this is the worst out of all of them!!!!! avoid at all costs
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If my future children are gonna ask me once "mom, what was the best decision in your life?" I will tell them "Well, kiddo, I purchased myself 4 of the Holy Potatoes games for around 1$. Giving birth to you was also not a bad thing." I had so much fun with this one and can't wait to play the other holy potatoes games. The game was probably developed by a dad. Because it is full with dad jokes and I love how they imply some famous detectives/superheroes in that game. The story is cute and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't understand the negative reviews. This is one of the best in the Potato series. It kind of reminds me of another game... I can't quite put my finger on it. Anyways you recruit spies, construct buildings, train your spies and send them on missions. Missions are neat... it's not action, it's pretty simple but it's fun, I don't know how to explain it. Plus the parody characters are hilarious, as always. If you like the other games, odds are you'll like this too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Addictive spy management game. Love the art style and the puns (even though it might not be for everyone). Normal mode might be a little tricky for me, so kudos to easy mode where I can just chillax and pace myself throughout the game. Price is OK i think, especially if you love this genre!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fast-paced, challenging but still adorably cute, A Spy Story?! is a pretty good game. I have played other games in this series, and while We're in Space?! remains my favorite of the series, this game is still a witty, graphically outstanding simulation genre that the Holy Potatoes! series is known for. I wholely recommend this game for people who likes this kind of animation style and timer-based simulation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →holy potatoes makes great games. its a shame they only hold my intrest for a short time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game! super fun and addictive,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really dig it. A bit grindy and needlessly difficult, but I think it worth it for the puns and creative upgrades, missions, progression, etc. There is nothing like it on steam, not even close. Very unique experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy Potatoes! A Spy Story?! is one of those games that are very grindy and repetitive frequently found on the mobile store (Dungeon Village comes to mind) but if it hooks you in, you can be spending a lot of time on it. A few reviews mention you lose your spies because they get unhappy eventually but you can splice two existing spies and get a better, improved spy and down the line, the older spies you retired can show up again. I don't think this is a bad thing and keeps thing fresh. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's not enough going on in A Spy Story to make it interesting. The progression is too slow, and the story and characters are boring. I really enjoyed A Weapon Shop and We're In Space, so I'm disappointed to play a second Holy Potatoes game I didn't like.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, good for a playthrough. The story was goofy, but engaging. Normal gets to be easy once you understand what you are doing and have better spies available, but I haven't tried hard mode yet. This was far better than the previous game, What the Hell?!.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute. Basic time/attention management game. Punny. If you're bored with/have moral objections to Hunie Cam Studio? This would be a good game for you. Recommending because there's no "meh" button, and it's not such a bad little game...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →HOLY POTATOES! MUST BUY!!! GREAT GAME! AWEAOME!!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy Potatoes! A Spy Story?! is a quirky game full of puns and references of pop-culture. Despite the cheesy puns which can be quite cringyworthy at times, the gameplay and the interface is seemly well-thought of. Although I do like that it's on PC (bigger screen), I believe the game would fare better on mobile too. The art really appeals to younger audiences or people who prefer this kind of art style. It is one of the rare 2D art games that actually delivers in consistency and it looks much…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cute game with puns and nice graphics~
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy Potatoes! A Spy Story?! embraces the studio’s signature formula of lighthearted simulation, whimsical humor, and pun-filled absurdity, this time transplanted into the world of espionage. From the moment you inherit a spy agency and begin recruiting potato-shaped secret agents, the game makes it clear that it isn’t interested in realism or gritty covert operations. Instead, it leans fully into a cartoonish, parodic interpretation of spy fiction, presenting familiar genre tropes through a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I would to recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's tongue in cheek silliness mixed with actual challenge. Cute, time consuming (just... one... more.... missions.....) with a story line (and puns!) that keep me coming back. Controlling a bunch of different spies all at once is challenging. Training, and being able to decide when to let them retire is challenging, because I just don't want to let my favourite ones go, however terribad they are! Totally recommend if you like puns, time management, and resource/training management.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What is Holy Potatoes! A Spy Story (HPASS) ? I previously played two other games from this franchise, first was "a weapon shop" and I loved it, it was such a fun, charming and also chill management game that instantly sucked me in for its good humor and satisfying gameplay loop, the second game I played was "we're in space" and while I liked the style of the game, the gameplay was more turn-based which isnt something I'd enjoy so I skipped it, now I've finally tried their most recent "a spy…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the series, but when you click in this game it basically never selects the building or the item you want to build until the 20th try. I don't know if it's a compatibility issue or the game itself but for me it was not playable
