60 of 122 · most liked firstRichard Linklater's romantic thriller Hit Man is minor Linklater but major fun, w/ movie-star-in-the-making Glen Powell as a philosophy prof who moonlights as a fake contract killer (based on a real guy!). See it in theaters to show Netflix that, yes, we still like movies. slate.com/culture/2024...
unlabelledView post →After you watch Hit Man (which is now streaming on Netflix, & also still in theaters in many cities), read the Texas Monthly profile that served as its inspiration. By the same writer, Skip Hollandsworth, whose true-crime journalism inspired the way-underseen Richard Linklater movie Bernie.
unlabelledView post →ok listen: Linklater’s HIT MAN is pure movie serotonin, smart & goofy & honest-to-god grown-up sexy, like if Double Indemnity took place in the Magic Mike XXL universe, go see it this weekend in a theater if you can, here’s @thehighsign.bsky.social saying it better
unlabelledView post →spoiler alert but in all the Hit Man praise it's a little weird that the ultimate unironic conclusion of the movie, supported by a long range intellectual argument made by characters in the movie, is that youre allowed to do vigilantism and kill people if they threaten you
unlabelledView post →Richard Linklater's "Hit Man," which just dropped on Netflix, may not be an all-time great film, but it's fun and sassy - a noir screwball comedy, basically.
unlabelledView post →The director Richard Linklater has been in the film industry for over 30 years. His new movie, “Hit Man,” is a stylish, sexy thriller that explores one of his favorite themes — the ability to create your own identity. Read more in The Interview. www.nytimes.com/2024/06/01/m...
unlabelledView post →Setting aside The Running Man, I recommend seeing Powell in Hit Man. The movie has some interesting twists and he gets to be an actor portraying multiple characters, then the lines get blurred, which is always a lot of fun. #filmsky
unlabelledView post →HIT MAN: Glen Powell sets out to prove he’s a legit movie star and BY GOD DOES HE PULL IT OFF, this movie is such a pleasure
unlabelledView post →Slate's Movie Club rolls on w/ @alisonwillmore.bsky.social on some favorite titles of the year: Anora, The Substance, Challengers, the tragically mismarketed Hit Man. Then there were films like the Dwayne Johnson actioner that cost $250 million w/o quite seeming to exist. slate.com/culture/2024...
unlabelledView post →So, the main character in "Hit Man" is a part-time university professor and a part-time undercover hit man for the police. The film is going to make my students disappointed that I don't have such an interesting side hustle.
unlabelledView post →Curious: If you go to your Netflix home page right now, do you see Hit Man? (I do not. It’s not on my wife’s profile either, and this is such a my wife movie.)
unlabelledView post →That's a solid day at the movies. Though I love I Saw the TV Glow less than some (especially the ending), it's an original & important film & like Hit Man, it needs warm bodies in a theater for films of its kind to keep existing. & Princess Mononoke in rep? Damn, now I want to go to the Fox Theatre!

unlabelledView post →Just watched Hit Man and let me tell you, Linklater does not miss. This movie is equal parts breezy and thrilling, thoughtful and funny, with two performances that should make Powell and Arjona stars. Filled with great dialog and characters you want to spend time with. 📽 Filmsky

unlabelledView post →An update of my Richard Linklater list posted today on @vulture, in time for the Netflix debut of his wildly entertaining HIT MAN. Nothing to dispute in this ranking at all. It’s pristine. t.co/HoCqhDD9gV
unlabelledView post →Movie #1 is GET CARTER. Overdue for a rewatch! trailers were for SUDDEN DEATH and HIT MAN.
unlabelledView post →I love that Linklater put this sequence in his montage in HIT MAN. A COLT IS MY PASSPORT (1967) is a tremendous film. Directed by Takashi Nomura and starring Joe Shishido, it's definitely something you want to add to your watchlist!
unlabelledView post →Seriously watch a movie where the female lead looks like this and you’re crying from laughing. Hit Man is just… everything I say I love so it would be weird if I didn’t

unlabelledView post →Watched Hit Man and loved it. I especially love the fact that David Fincher made a crap movie about a real hitman spouting bullshit philosophy, and Richard Linklater ran laps around him with one about a bullshit hitman who's a legit philosopher.
unlabelledView post →R.I.P. screenwriter, director & producer George Armitage, director of Grosse Pointe Blank (1997), Miami Blues (1990), Vigilante Force (1976) and Hit Man (1972) as well as film projects with Roger Corman. He died on February 15, 2025 in Playa Del Rey, CA. I'm sure most of his films are on TUBI.
unlabelledView post →I’d like to thank Netflix for that Hit Man movie and their decision to make Glen Powell look homely. Us homely guys need all the help we can get.
unlabelledView post →Watched “Hit Man” last night. I could see a good film in there but it was hidden by some really odd directorial and tonal choices. It could see this being brilliant if it has been a Cohen bros film

unlabelledView post →“All 🥧 is good 🥧 “ I watched “Hit Man” Linklater’s new film last night. It was funny and I was thoroughly entertained but I have questions… There’s a bad aftertaste. It’s a good movie though 🍿 I recommend it Just don’t internalize the moral squishyness
unlabelledView post →Here's my review of Hit Man (now on Netflix), which subverts the killer for hire genre and creates a sweetly sadistic rom-com
unlabelledView post →so the hubby was talking about the movie Hit Man earlier (that we watched over a year ago) but i couldn't remember the detail he was talking about from it and had to tell him that honestly i spent most the movie trying to figure out how to make it firstprince lolz ooops it's been this bad for a bit
unlabelledView post →on this point if you need a good laugh or just a general pickmeup check out Linklater's Hit Man. Solid date movie too.

unlabelledView post →didn't become a film but 'Confessions of an Economic Hit Man' is another example
unlabelledView post →Hit Man with Glen Powell It’s hilarious, fun and smart. I’ve watched it several times and still laugh. He is so good in this movie. It’s loosely based on a real fake hitman guy.
unlabelledView post →HIT MAN is delightful. An A+ date movie. See it in the theater if you can.

unlabelledView post →Oh and after this and Hit Man, my opinion is firm that Adria Arjona should be in every film. Absolutely stunning and charismatic.

MGM optioned the book and figured they could squeeze another movie out of it for the ‘blaxploitation’ market.

unlabelledView post →Late to the news but deeply depressing to think HIT MAN might miss out on a wide theatrical release. Easily my favourite film to watch with an audience this year, hooting and hollering galore.
unlabelledView post →Agreed that movie is not good. Hit Man with him is good though. Linklater film. Watch that if you haven't.
unlabelledView post →I think an unpopular opinion, but I HATED how Hit Man ended. It felt unnecessary and ruined the movie for me!
