The production design team borrowed them from myself and other Chicago critics / music folks. I enjoy annoying people by pointing out which ones are mine 😆

unlabelledView post →I'm official sort of on my holiday break. I'll still be working I'm just not watching Fox this week. I'm Gen X. What @johncusack.bsky.social movie should I watch? I have a few favorites. A friend of mine from college has a small role in High Fidelity. He's not on Bluesky. (Matt O'Neil)

unlabelledView post →Saw HIGH FIDELITY for the first time in more than a decade. Just a perfect movie.
unlabelledView post →I suspect that, in the movie HIGH FIDELITY, if Rob's girlfriend had said in the beginning, "You gotta get rid of some of these records, or I'm out of here" we wouldn't have had a whole movie with Rob anguishing over her leaving. 30 minutes, tops.
unlabelledView post →High Fidelity, better movie than you remember, oddly a worse soundtrack than you remember.

unlabelledView post →ok apropos of the West Wing/Empire Records convo, I think the bleed-over of xennial things is mayhap unique to millennials, like I was obsessed with High Fidelity (book and film) at an age when I was incapable entirely of understanding it and yet deeply felt seen by it

unlabelledView post →Books to TV 📚=📺 High Fidelity (1995) by Nick Hornby was filmed (2000) by Stephen Frears. The faithful film moves from London to Chicago. The protagonist is made more likable as his self-loathing is toned down & the Barry character is elevated by Jack Black's energy. 🎧✨🎶 #filmsky #booksky #tvsky
unlabelledView post →I often think of films like “Almost Famous” & “High Fidelity” and wonder why we STILL don’t have a legitimate Hip Hop culture or Rap equivalent yet. I actually posed these questions to the masses over a decade ago in two essays: medium.com/film-movies-... & medium.com/cinenation-s...
unlabelledView post →Sorry, sorry. Learned toxic masculinity from the movie High Fidelity, sorry
unlabelledView post →Think about Black's early career: bit parts in major films like Waterworld and The Jackal. Movies that flopped. And then he EXPLODED via High Fidelity. Best part of that film and it's not close.
unlabelledView post →I used to manage a record store. When High Fidelity came out it was like, "Oh, they made a movie about me."
unlabelledView post →That was a fun movie, sort of HIGH FIDELITY meets GET SHORTY. I’ll need to add it to regular rotation and add a few tracks from the soundtrack to my Mix Tape playlist (currently at just over 1000 tracks and counting).
unlabelledView post →My question for the home audience is why have their been multiple films using Soul/R&B—mainly Motown/Stax/Philly International as the OST of White folks lives but in 2026 we STILL don’t have the Rap equivalent of a “High Fidelity” or an “Almost Famous” yet? No film soundtracks with Golden Era jams?

Really fun not gross movie about an imaginary 60s 1 hit wonder band. Written & directed by Tom Hanks.
unlabelledView post →2: Movie with the greatest opening scene Actual favorite would be Goodfellas, but since it's been posted a few times already, I'll go with "High Fidelity" and Rob's monologue "What came first? The music or the misery?" #MovieMadness youtu.be/3WefCysLu8g?...

unlabelledView post →MIND YOU she is the sibling of John Cusack who is the star of Say Anything mentioned on her New Heights episode and was incorrectly referred to as a John Hughes movie even though he was in 16 Candles which is actually a Hughes movie. Also in High Fidelity which has a tv adapt starring Zoe

unlabelledView post →Ever liked a John Cusack film but not seen Grosse Point Blank? Def recommended! It's easily my favorite of his work. Everyone tends to cite High Fidelity, but this one gave him more rope to work with and he took it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Uyx... Though 1408 (2007) also bears consideration
unlabelledView post →Zoë Kravitz’s version of High Fidelity was better than the book and the movie, totally capable of carrying a second season of music and moodiness. The way season one ends, it always makes me ache for more time with Rob. It felt like the show was just getting to a significant arc but just ends.
unlabelledView post →As much as my early love of High Fidelity eventually curdled into borderline hatred for it, I’ll always be thankful for the movie introducing me to the Beta Band
unlabelledView post →Do you know the Green Day/Stiff Little Fingers scene in "High Fidelity"? When I watched the movie with my daughters they howled at it, because their dear old Dad had given almost the exact same speech some years before 😁 youtu.be/VK9R3hvWfhU?...

unlabelledView post →I've long said High Fidelity was much better as a movie. I like Hornby, but the movie benefitted so much from setting it in Chicago and having Jack Black in it.

unlabelledView post →Multiple film day. First up is High Fidelity (also love the book).
unlabelledView post →High Fidelity (movie) was released in 2000, the book was published in '95. The film feels like an 80s film updated for the 90s... it's using the Ferris Bueller breaking the 4th wall technique. And it's got the similar 80s misogyny vibe. I can't recall if it hits on the other 80s tropes. #HATM

unlabelledView post →High Fidelity is a John Cusack film. Which makes it ever weirder to me that she brought up a direct reference to Say Anything also starring Cusack on the podcast and lied and said it was a John Hughes movie.
