What are your thoughts on the state of native Linux games?. I’m glad to see this community picking up, the old sub is probably the community I’ll miss the most from Reddit. How about a discussion topic? Native Linux games! Gaming on Linux has absolutely never been better. I’ve been using Linux for 6+ years now, and I’ve been daily driving it since Proton first launched. I don’t even check ProtonDB anymore, I just buy games and they work. It’s amazing. However, it feels like native games…

A very nice puzzle game similar to sudoku, but much more variable. Most levels are easy, but there are maybe 20 or 30 levels that were challenging enough (in hard mode) and I really enjoyed them. It's rather short, only a few hours. I think this game has a large potential. I would play it for many hours if there were hundreds of difficult levels combining different additional rules. Devs should consider making a large long/sandbox game out of this. 8/10.

Hexologic looks and sounds like a spa, and plays like Kakuro's* chill younger sibling. It's easy to pick up and put down, and strangely relaxing for something that includes so much counting. *If you've never played Kakuro, think Sudoku re-imagined by mathletes who hate you. Gameplay Controls. Playable with mouse, controller, or Deck. Puzzles. Your goal is to make certain rows/columns/diagonals equal a specified value by adding 1-3 pips to empty hexagonal tiles. There are (111) puzzles,…

Played On Steam Deck Time to 100%: 5h or less As a self-proclaimed puzzle aficionado, I dove into Hexologic with high hopes and a sharpened mind. The game boasts a unique hexagonal twist on the classic Sudoku formula, and the visuals are as crisp and clean as a freshly ironed shirt. But let’s talk about the challenge—or lack thereof. I breezed through the first 45 levels on normal mode in about 45 minutes. That’s right, one minute per level. I felt like I was on a leisurely stroll rather than…

~6 hours of great puzzles. If you're buying this game that's like 95% what you should care about. If I had to make 1 criticism it's that the settings are mobile phone level, but like... It's a puzzle game dude and the puzzles are good.

I *really* like it. I wasn't expecting much, at best to help pass the time and at worst to just use a guide to "beat" the game quickly. Oh how wrong I was, it's really awesome. The levels that introduce new mechanics are simple and easy to understand, the levels that test you are challenging, yet not impossible to figure out - I feel like the difficulty in this game falls into "just hard enough", which feels amazing. I have beaten the game twice now (normal and hard mode) and I didn't have to…

Hexologic, developed and published by MythicOwl, is a beautifully designed puzzle game that manages to strike a delicate balance between simplicity and sophistication. At first glance, it looks like a straightforward logic puzzler built around a hexagonal grid, but underneath its minimalistic visuals lies a carefully crafted system that blends mathematical reasoning with meditative flow. The game is a spiritual successor to Sudoku in its structure, though its hex-based design adds an entirely…

I like sudoku, minesweeper, kakuro and nonograms. All being logic based number games, I hoped this game to be at least decent. And I'm happy to say that it's actually good. Best way to describe it is to call it a hex-based (hexy?) kakuro, where instead of numbers 1 to 9 you only have 1, 2 and 3 available to put into the hexes. Now, that applies only to the core aspect of the game. As levels and zones go, we get to experience 3 mechanics (that I can recall) that pleasantly refresh the formula…

For all the Kakuro, Sudoku and math lovers out there, Hexologic is great. You must combine the dots inside the hexes in a way so that their sum matches the one given at the edge of each line. With a normal mode providing you some assistance and feedback and a hard mode where you're on your own, these puzzles have a wide range of difficulty and are a good challenge if you like mental gymnastics. Incredibly smart variation around Sudoku, like Hexcells was around Picross. This game has everything a puzzle game needs to catch me: clear and uncluttered, fast-paced and progressive, with new gameplay elements added with each world and learned in seconds (like The Witness would teach you). A pure puzzle gem wrapped up in a few hours. Now officially a MythicOwl fan!

Had a lot of fun trying to 100% this game, it feels addicting :) I want to give a shout out to Maciej Biernacki for making such a great soundtrack, I truly think it made the game even better for me as I transitioned through the levels and the music changed with them as I progressed. It made me feel really invested and I think it was the perfect 'vibe' for this game!

HexologicI could immediately tell that this was gonna be a solid puzzle game. As it states, it has it's similarities to Sudoku with how you can piece together a level with just a few starting hints. Each world introduces a new mechanic, all of which are logically inclined with no guessing necessary. Worth full price. GameplayThe concept is very simple, fill the hexes with a number of dots so that their sum matches the one given at the edge, the limit of 3 dots per hex is what gives you clear…

It's aight; no real tutorial though--which isn't a problem for game mechanics, but is for all the features and controls that are available to support you success. Compare with a game like Tametsi that has a list of tips and features explicitly on the main menu for you!

This game has been actually pretty fun. Although it's essentially a classic apple/google play store puzzle game, it's enjoyable. It's enough to genuinely engage your brain, especially the harder levels. When I play this before playing ranked in another game, I do genuinely believe I am far more aware and have better critical thinking activated, even when I just play for like 10 minutes before playing another game. But do get it on sale, it is essentially a phone game.

A fun little game. It's not as hard as many other logic games I've played such as knights or flower. After playing for only an hour I've gotten through half the levels on hard. The music is mellow and immerses you into a flow state of puzzle solving. Obviously the game is about to get harder, but I don't know what to expect in terms of difficulty. Hopefully it's not a plateau or a sharp jump. I am very optimistic.

Fun little logic puzzler of easy to moderate difficulty. The game has ~200 puzzles and takes maybe 5-10 hours to 100% complete. My only complaint is that some puzzles are quicker solved by trial and error, rather than pure logic. Also the visual clarity is sometimes a bit poor: With all the mechanics introduced towards the end of the game, it can be hard to discern the board.

Easy but fun, easily worth the 5 bucks for ~3 hours of great logic puzzles. Follows the puzzle game formula perfectly; difficulty ramps up at a manageable pace and when the ideas are just about exhausted they throw in a new mechanic to keep it engaging. Nothing to complain about here Hard mode was really easy so I can't imagine how easy the easy mode is. Would recommend starting off on hard mode

I hope this doesn't become a trend, but this is yet another too easy puzzle game that's more busywork than logic. I played 20 levels in a few minutes, and had my fill. In this game, each hex must have a 1, 2, or 3. Then they must add up to a number on the edge. All hexes start with nothing, so at the start you might as well click them all. It's tedious, and at least for the first good amount of levels it mostly solves the level. It could be a relaxing game to play if you don't really want to…

A decently fun little puzzle game. It does not take all that long to figure out and solve each of the different levels and their puzzles, or the secret levels. It is basically like solving a Sudoku, but you only have the numbers one to three available to use. Some levels add in grey tiles with higher numbers that you cannot change. Also, unlike a Sudoku, you don't just solve it on each line by line. There are straight lines of course, but there are also diagonals as well. Each different level…

Good enough for an afternoon. + Art style is pretty good. I seem to be a real sucker for all kinds of hex-something games on Steam and why not these are some of the best brain teaser games there are out there. Hallmarks of these games is that they are challenging just enough to make you go forward and not frustrate too much as i am by no mean a puzzle game sleuth that completes ten of these before lunch. This particular hex game places somewhere on the mid, lower-mid when it comes to difficulty. There is a lot of stuff to complete here and for the…

It's like sudoku but with very basic math. Easy to learn but highly addictive. Hexologic is very replayable despite being a very short game (You can get all achievements in about 5 hours if you play hard mode on the get go). I played this on the Switch when it first came out, but 6 years later I didn't remember any of the puzzles. It scratches a similar itch as Picross for me, just without the rewarding pictures in the end. Playing on Hard disables the auto-verification for each line of tiles, but the game does ask for you to play every level on Hard for the achievements. We are learning to count with this one! 9/10 This is a simple puzzle game where you have to fill the hexagons with the correct number of dots. Short and sweet, but it also has endless modes. Easy mode shows you which spaces are filled correctly, in hard mode you have to check yourself. The music is amazing and changes when you progress in the game. Peak game for relaxing and logic training. Absolutely worth it.
