positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible mobile UI - instead of simply hovering over skills/runes to see what they do, you have to click on them to open the description, then click again to close it. Two different currencies for no apparent reason. You can convert gold to gems, so why bother having both? Heroes choose random targets instead of picking off the front of the line, with no apparent way to set autotarget priority - should at least offer a choice between First, Strong, or Weak. The guy who does the most damage to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is okay but in 2021, 5 years after release, the bugs are still present since day 1. Get it if on high discount
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Grind, Grind, Grind... Let me start by saying that this is *not* a bad game. Just a ridiculously overpriced game. I mean $30 for a game that still has actual Placeholder text in some places....really devs? Really? Not to mention that the PVP and multiplayer is pretty much dead so put those out of your mind. The game is a tower defense game, with the twist being your towers are heroes you can, and will have to, move around the map. Each her is effective against certain enemies and has certain…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I started this review with a thumbs up recommendation because it is an extremely polished game that does what it set out to two. But as I tried to put words to the review I realized that the negatives really overshadow the experience. On the bright side, it looks really good, it's fully voice acted, and the moment to moment gameplay is smooth. It takes the core play of a tower defense and then add mobility to the towers. Throw in some skills trees and a gacha-styled rune customization system…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game saved my life. I am 43. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiralling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand... my working hand... my games hand.. the hand that I held and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of this situations where i don't recommend a game, but also i recommend it. As an avid gamer of tower defense games, i had to try this one. Hero defense is a tower defense games where you only use heros instead of towers. You can position them anywhere you want on the map and they each one have a radius. The game mechanics are very simple, there is one or two lanes and mobs come from there. Thats it. There is five types of games and one enemy and boss for each type. Graphics are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game literally forces you to go through levels several times in order to open the stars necessary to open the next levels.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is not worth $30, and quite frankly even though I got it at a 95% off sale for $1.50 I am still unsure if that was worth it The people who made this must be literally retarded. they have done no playtesting whatsoever. this game was obviously made for the annoy-you-until-you-pay-them mobile phone game market. but then for whatever reason they had to sell it on PC. These 'tards locked the endless mode behind the multiplayer then removed their multiplayer servers. there is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is locked at 25 fps, coop doesn't work, and it's been completely abandoned by the developers. Avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely NOT worth $30 asking price. Kind of a simple and boring where the challenge comes in the form of the grind of leveling up gear and stats for your 5 heroes as well as moving them around during various levels. It's obviously a reutilized mobile game. It still has the gem and gold conversions and menus that you normally see in live service and mobile games. Thankfully, none of that F2P or monetization is actually in game, but with it removed you can see how shallow this game really is.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright game, but around level 8 it begins to get grindy, you start having to grind earlier levels for money to upgrade your heroes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting basis for a tower defence game which, as other reviewers have stated, is unfortunately plagued with performance issues to the point where it is difficult to enjoy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 had this on my wishlist for years and thought wth lets give it a try its 95% off again for the 100th time feels like theres no strategy what so ever to this..... - mobile game crafting we al hate that just bogs everything down + voice acting - $30 price tag huge fan of tower defense games this doesnt feel like one at all refunded
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately there's just too much missing and not enough fun or unique gameplay to overlook that. The graphics are okay, nothing that takes away from the game but nothing to gawk at. There were a few annoying visual bugs for me however. Gameplay is pretty simple, towers are now people with predictable story lines and tropes. The did the, "every enemy is a damage sponge except to one type" schtick and it's not fun. There's no lore explanation either just a ripped gameplay mechanic that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unusual concept of TD games, where heroes are just like moving towers. Each champion has opportunities to fight against different type of monsters and can be combined with other characters to support them. Simply plot describes all necessary threads, mainly Jack's story. There is also the city, where you can upgrade buildings to improve your heroes's equipment or to develope heroes's skill tree. Almost everything works fine despite camera position and towers's aiming (I experienced many…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The server is down so no more PvP, Co-op or Endless modes. It's a tower defense game whether you deploy (and move) up to 5 heroes to defeat waves of enemies. Worth it on a deep sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hoped for a small, cool TD variant. But it's a pretty boring version which is horribly unoptimized. Even menus are loading laggy when being run from a SSD. Not worth the steep price, I'd say it's somewhere in the <5€ region.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a really bad game - the main problem for me with this game is that this is most probably port from an android app. You can feel that by using the interface, you can see that from the screenshots. And this plays like every other mobile tower defense game. All those td games look and play identical, it's like the same game with yet another skin. They quickly get boring, they all follow similar structure, level & tower progression and so on. The game is not very complex and won't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →HERO DEFENSE is an unusual twist on the tower defense genre, a console ported TD game where instead of towers, you have heroes who can move between each node. So while the TD gameplay is all there, gameplay itself is less about choosing which towers and more about deciding which hero is best at which node at any given time... so it's more like a juggling act than a strategy game. You only get 5 heroes and they have different strengths vs different enemies, so you have to do a bunch of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good but if you're planning to 100% this game it's impossible they remove the endless mode.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has bad design and worse balance. Don't spend even 1 dollar on it. They wroked some decent mechanics in a laggy buggy grindy game. Just say no, and go play Defender's Quest.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At this point in time, the game hangs/freezes for a short time regularly on very good PCs. Seems to be a compatibility problem with newer hardware or Windows 10, as it didn't use to hang when it came out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TD wannabe game. I've played lots in my years but this is just simply disgusting. As early as level 3 you begin to feel the need for grinding. At level 5 you literally can't complete it in your first try, so you have to go back to grind earlier ones Instead of adding content and improving gameplay, they require you to grind the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ugly maps to waste your time and increase their play hours. Disgusting practices, don't buy this game to give these lazy ass devs incentives…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warning ! Do not buy - extremely buggy game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is in permanent stutter, not just during active gameplay, but even when browsing through menues. I tried changing the settings around (My PC runs far more demanding games without issue) and nothing helped. Game is unplayable in current state, and I want my damn money back.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It hurts to give this a thumbs down, because it's really fun, has great style and despite not typically being a fan of unit based TD, I'm really enjoying the gameplay. The game is very poor from a technical stanr point; that's why I can't recommend it. Significant lag for menu objects, the game hangs very badly during things as simple as counting up XP at the end of a round. Occational complete lockups... it's just poorly made. The art and gameplay are excellent, it's just too bad that the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/33025671-Missi-the-Achievement-Huntress/] Please see my curator page for more games that are worth your time Info Game: This is a combination between a tower defense and a RPG. Instead of towers you’ll unlock heroes, which you can level up and giving better items to become stronger. During a run you’ll upgrade your heroes and change their positions all the time. The game starts very easy but will challenge you over time. The game looks so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hero Defense, developed by Happy Tuesday and published by Headup, is an ambitious hybrid of tower defense, RPG, and light strategy elements, offering a unique spin on a genre that often relies heavily on static mechanics. Instead of placing traditional towers, players control a group of five heroes—each with distinct skills and attack types—who must be strategically positioned and dynamically moved across winding paths to hold back waves of undead enemies. This twist immediately sets the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →abandoned, buggy ♥♥♥♥ game w/ abysmal performance. should be removed from steam YESTERDAY.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The main character is very obviously voiced by David Hayter, but that doesn't really help. Pros: - Tower Defense - LoL art design style - being able to move your "towers" is neat I guess Cons: - Moving your heroes is actually very clunky. It would be better if I could click the hero on the map and move it, but no, you have to click their tab then click and drag that, and it does not show where your hero is going to be when you move it - performance is extremely poor, at times it had crashed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ style is good + music and voice is good - the tutorial is horrible and messy, counterintuitive - the interface is messed up, very un-user friendly
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From what I could play, it seems like it could be a fun game if the performance wasn't absolutely awful. My PC can run anything on ultra settings above 60 FPS and this game drops frames after seemingly every action performed by the player.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. The art style, the narratives, all the little things you can do, they're wonderful... As you can probably tell by the ellipses, that's not all I've got to say on the matter. As fun as the monster slaying may be, it's not fun when your frames drop at an absurd rate, before, after, and during the missions. For a game of this quality there should be next to no frame drops at all. A game like this doesn't need to be as taxing as it is just to play it. As fun as this is I cannot…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this from humble bundle. wow this game. It has massive frame drops all the time, the graphics look like crap and the best part was when during the tutorial mission characters were talking but the creeps were moving and i lost. It's terrible, feels like alpha build not a complete game... Just check the settings menu from homepage it actually has variable names. Also it's called Broken island or something but here it's called Hero Defense. Shame i was hoping it will be at least decent tower…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dev's forum page is broken, unlikely they will see this but I will give the game a positive review when it's more playable, having a ton of issues with lag and freezing as my time in the game progresses, game starts out smooth and great and just gets worse and worse until the game is almost unplayable after about 10 minutes
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game looking for a solid tower defense style game, and it is pretty good in many aspects however the game is not made out to be what it says it is. I bought the game heavily discounted at 90% off yesterday and while i enjoyed playing some of it it is evident that it's not what its marketed out to be. The endless mode with procedurally generated levels and such is completely removed from the game from what I have seen. The store page tells of it, and the forums, but the game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hero Defense is a bit of a head scratcher. The horror cliches are eye-rolling but in a charming way. The story is lacking, but there aren't many tower defense games with an epic plot anyways. The music and sound effects are awesome, but the graphics are oddly "choppy", even when getting 500+ fps. So why do I keep coming back? I think it's the balance. This game is a RARE shining example of difficulty levels that genuinely reflect your choice. HD definitely requires some grind, but it has a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Mediocre Tower Defense game, Voice acting and Story could use some work... Honestly, there's better games out there in this genre for a fraction of the price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm only two hours in and I can already tell you the theme of this game. GRIND! It's a neat twist on the tower defense game, with using mobile heroes instead of towers, and loading them up with all kinds of unlocks to get to better skills, weapons, and new levels. GRIND! The art is really cute and I like the look, but I think they changed the TD formula enough that it's not TD anymore. It's a lot of frantic clicking and carpal tunnel stuff. GRIND! I may tinker with it a little more, but no,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game, not well optimized, fps drops to 1 frame per 5 seconds at times.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Consistent freezes and lags on a high end machine. Even if you put up with it, the spiders in the game is so OP that you wonder whether the devs even thought about balancing them. Can't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I started playing and hated it immediately. It is supposed to be TD game about repositioning your towers (heroes), but the controls don't even let you use WASD to scroll the map. TD games that aren't built around a repositioning mechanic allow you to use WASD to scroll them map. How can such a simple and common convention not be used with this game? I would not recommend this. Maybe I'll play it more, when I'm bored. Also, I bought this while on sale. Still wouldn't recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay loop is pretty decent. Tower defense with heroes instead of towers. But this game is not worth it at the time, you need to restart the game every 3 or 4 map for it to stop hanging like crazy on loading.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Constant stuttering mobile port, devs didn't bother to change ui.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd like to play more of the game but stuttering issues are rampant. Every start of the wave there is a hiccup. I turned all the setting down and even got rid of full screen but it is still constant. Hopefully it is fixed in the future. Until then its not fun to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love tower defense games and I really like the way this game took that concept to a different place. The gameplay is fun, the characters are fun, and so is the idea of rebuilding the town. The problem is that the game runs very clunky. I have an excellent PC I built myself with 32GB of RAM, AMD Ryzen 7 chip, and Zotac GeForce GTX 1080 8GB card. I can run a lot of stuff on full graphics without an issue. This game on the other hand lags when loading literally anything, even the next wave. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game off of Humble Bundle. Unlike other reviewers, I had no trouble getting it to work. I think the main difference between our PC setups is mine has a SSD instead of a HDD. Game played well and was a lot of fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game from Humble Bundles Yogscast Jingle Jam. Game is completely unplayable on higher end PC's. I have a i7-8700K, and a RTX 2080 with 32 GB of ram and this game freezes during ever load screen and during game play. I cannot recommend this game in its current state, if the Dev's optimize it for higher end systems then I will update my review.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hero Defense is a tower defence game but you control movable units (and you will be moving them a lot) rather than stationary buildings. This is not necessarily a good or bad thing compared to a normal TD game, just different. Gameplay is fun and can be frantic and fast paced depending on the map. You control 5 heroes (a mixture of ranged and melee) who fight off waves of monsters and bosses. Because your "towers" are mobile it's a lot more interactive during waves than your typical tower…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The campaign is currently very short but it is decently put together. The game is a lot of fun and feels like a really scaled back single player moba/tower defense game. I had fun with this for a few hours and it was worth the price I paid.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a Tower Defense games lover, i liked this game. it has some grind that you need to do to ace all achievements. but the game is short and fun on its own. Unfortunately, you cant get 100% achievement due to the developers shutting down the servers so you cant get the endless achievement... was a good run for me through.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/C0iSVwEZazs Progression may be a bit heavy on the grinding, however the multiple channels of progress and mobile towers (the heroes) is well done.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neither the best nor the worst TD I've played. Not much tactical depth to it. The difficulty it throws at you boils down to managing your heroes, maximizing their positions, and trying to squeeze out as much as firepower as you can from runes. Ultimately reminiscent of a "last stand" kind of game at higher difficulties, where it just throws legions of monsters at you, with a scattering of nigh invincible boss targets. These often make a map feel rather hopeless unless you've amassed absurd…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This looks and feels like a bad mobile game port, but actually isn't. Doesn't look very good, has performance issues if opened for too long, voice acting feels like they are doing a parody with purposefully bad voice acting, has WAY TOO MUCH GRINDING as if it were a mobile game. I got this game in a humblebundle, but it's so not good that I want to ask the charities for my money back. Not going to do that of course. Anyway, props to the developers for contributing to charity.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game looks cool to bad this game freezes constantly and is unplayable. My PC can run NASA and can't run this game lol... let me know when your game is fixed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Summary I suggest not to buy for the following two reasons: 1) You cannot finish the game as it is impossible to do so and 2) you will struggle to play the game, load the game, load levels, drop characters, etc. Game is UNPLAYABLE! All details below. Details My God, where to begin! This is my transition of the game since I first started playing it: didn't really feel like playing but the graphics looked nice so I decided to give it a go -> annoying to play due to the bugs / extreme…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too many bugs. Too annoying. Second game I launched the hot keys didn't work. Third time I launched menu items remained on screen blocking my view. I played along as far as launching my third hero only to find that nearly every level was immediately impossible to defeat on the first pass (in other words it became a grinder) even after upgrading weapons and skills.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too simplistic. I have 45 hours total game play and all the skills are maxed, most town buildings are maxed, and runes are mostly purple and I even have all the characters with at least 1 legendary rune. Also game catches a lot. Changed graphics settings still the same happens. I can play higher end games with no lag or catching so that's another reason that I know it's not my PC that's the issue. Other than those issues I think it's got a good concept and fresh look on the tower defense genre.
