neutral · AI labelView post →I haven't liked a Refn film in quite a long time, but I loved HER PRIVATE HELL, and I tried to figure out why. The film is a fantasy of busted binaries, and characters whose sexuality, gender identity, kinks, and persona are in a state of symbolic impermanence. www.patreon.com/willowcately...

So I decided to make unreality my canvas" At Cannes I spoke with Nicolas Winding Refn about his new film HER PRIVATE HELL (and silent film) for @ebertvoices.bsky.social

neutral · AI labelView post →Saw a video of Sophie Thatcher getting emotional during the seven-minute standing ovation for Her Private Hell at Cannes (that's the name of a movie, not Thatcher's own personal hell). I'm happy for her. As an actor, I think she's really got something. Looking forward to seeing the movie.

neutral · AI labelView post →I really liked Nicolas Winding Refn's "Her Private Hell," a languidly incoherent antinarrative pastiche. The film keeps trying on various genres and then getting distracted by images of pretty people lounging in pretty clothes. www.splicetoday.com/moving-pictu...
positive · AI labelView post →the official description for this sounds so good "'HER PRIVATE HELL' is set in a future metropolis and follows actresses gathering at a luxury hotel to shoot a ‘Barbarella’-style movie while a brutal killer 'leather man' begins murdering women across the city beneath a mysterious spreading mist."
neutral · AI labelView post →HER PRIVATE HELL is an intoxicating and elusive return to feature films for Nicolas Winding Refn—a filmmaker I have my struggles with. Not this time. Looks like I'm the HER PRIVATE HELL defender. It's rightfully divisive, but I got swept up in Refn's fever-dreamy neon sorta-slasher.
positive · AI labelView post →HER PRIVATE HELL is certainly Refn's most alienating film yet. It also has NWR-monogrammed rayguns, so strap in if you're one of us.

neutral · AI labelView post →#watched HER PRIVATE HELL (2026) Fog shrouds a futuristic city, bringing with it a killer known as Leatherman. Three women in a high rise are too caught up in interpersonal conflict to see him coming. This film was a big hit on Coruscant just before the old republic fell.

negative · AI labelView post →Her Private Hell (2026) is a lot of things: A cyberpunk giallo, a film noir, a psychosexual thriller, a family drama and... A fairy tale. Its definitely for everybody, but I had a great time with this neon-soaked mindfuck. Even if not all of its elements meshed as well as they should have. 👍

neutral · AI labelView post →While I enjoyed Her Private Hell as a summer blockbuster, it's impossible to endorse its divergence from the historical record. For example, the movie star "Elle" is played by Sophie Thatcher, but director Nicholas Winding Refn actually worked with Elle Fanning. Was a blonde not available? The lacka

Fairy tale, giallo, sci-fi pulp, action movie, erotic thriller and neo-noir free floating in a delirious dream state world where everyone is hot and horny and Pino Donaggio is supreme.
