It's a brilliant movie that speaks to where we are right now, but is also a worthy successor to the 70s classics it emulates. Funny, surprising, compassionate. Big screen if possible.

positive · AI labelView post →I've known Steven for over 25 years, and I can tell you that our opinions seldom line up on a movie as exactly as they do on this one: Dead Man's Wire.
positive · AI labelView post →#NowWatching DEAD MAN'S WIRE (2025). Director: Gus Van Sant. Bill Skarsgard, Dacre Montgomery. True-life 70s hostage drama flew under-the-radar for me, but looks like my type of kink. First watch. #filmsky 📽
neutral · AI labelView post →So much to say about Gus Van Sant's new film Dead Man's Wire. The colour of the telephones, the faces, genre weave, syncopation. Ludic and fresh. Loved it.
positive · AI labelView post →My ⭐️⭐️⭐️ review of DEAD MAN'S WIRE boxd.it/eNUbdl Skarsgard & Montgomery anchor film with believable performances, but tone never varies. Initial intensity & grungy 70s aesthetic appeal, but screenplay feels incredibly one note. Peripheral characters underdeveloped & Pacino is on Mars! #filmsky 📽

It’s a retelling of a real event, but stylishly done & complimented by good editing, a good soundtrack, and a great cast. Bill Skarsgard is amazing. #filmsky My ★★★★ review of Dead Man's Wire on @letterboxd: boxd.it/cLojaV
positive · AI labelView post →Now off to see "Dead Man's Wire"! 📦 I planned to see "The Bone Temple" today, but this Bill Skarsgard movie looked good and I suspect it won't last too long in the theater. Plus it also co-stars Colman Domingo & Al Pacino! So we're putting a pin in the zombie flick for now. 🧟 #DeadMansWire #Filmsky
positive · AI labelView post →The very good DEAD MAN'S WIRE opened this weekend. I talked to Gus Van Sant and writer Austin Kolodney about recreating the late 1970s on film and how a Werner Herzog comment influenced the final product.

positive · AI labelView post →DEAD MAN'S WIRE, the latest from Gus Van Sant, is surprisingly funny for a movie that revolves around one man attaching a shotgun to the back of another man's head.
