Hamilton's Great Adventure
Developer Fatshark
Hamilton's Great Adventure is a puzzle game for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Android. The game was the first self-published title from the Swedish developer Fatshark, which was considered a surprising change in the developer's choice of gameplay and genre since it focused more on single-player elements with a relatively low learning curve. Hamilton's Great Adventure was released on May 31, 2011 via the Steam… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

The gameplay boils down to trial and error. Even one misstep will make reaching the goal impossible and you have to keep starting over until you memorize the path perfectly. Sometimes a failure isn't even your fault as enemies can break the path too, even if you tried to keep them at bay with the otherwise completely useless bird. (Local co-op, yeah…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not sure whether to call this a puzzle game or not. All you have to do is to get to the goal, hitting switches, dodging environmental hazards and the occasional "enemy". Once you found the correct path to take, you can finish a level without much trouble. Collecting coins is optional but to unlock more levels you'll need a certain amount. Dont bother with the DLC since all it does is add 3 additional levels which arent too interesting nor challenging and you'll be done with those in no…

Not help in forums worked. Picked up as part of the FatShark sale bundle so unable to refund. Should not be allowed to sell games that do not work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ugh, so glad I only paid one dollar for this game. The idea is decent, but the controls and camera really bog it down. Also, all the game mechances revolving around the bird are just annoying and pointless. The game would be significantly better without it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a rather long review, so if you want a quick summary of why I recommend this title just skip to the Results section and read from there. Fatshark created a fantastic little puzzle game which puts you to the test. Hamilton’s Great Adventure pushes out levels that pose mysteries and threats around every turn. Story: Hamilton’s Great Adventure starts you off telling the stories of your great exploits to your granddaughter. You relive Hamilton’s glory days as you try to get the parts for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hamilton's Great Adventure is a great balanced adv/puzzler. You run around with Hamilton, and the bird Sasha helps out with collecting special abilities, reaching levers and acts as a decoy. The quests gets trickier and trickier. I have only played the first world yet, but I am having a lot of fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is an absolute nightmare to play. (Providing you get it to work). I consider myself a very technically able person, however this took me 2 hours to get it working, after messing around with various settings and uninstalling the outdated junk that came with this. (I never managed to get the sound working, which was OK for me, I viewed a few video's and the sound was far too repetative). I love puzzles games and I've played a wide variety of them. However this game is just boring,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →★★☆☆☆ - "Average at best, Id give it a miss" PROS: - Light-hearted and casual. - Flying as the bird is tremendous fun. - I admire the games colourful design. - Stone stepping can be fun, although trial & error. CONS: - Its all just a little childish. - Puzzles are too simplistic, providing no thrill or challenge. - Very little on offer to warrant a playthrough as the game does nothing particulary well. - No checkpointing. - The story, like the rest of the game, is dull. VERDICT? Its a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game's installation is bugged. At some point in time Nvidia changed the location where the PhysX dlls get put. This game's installation seems to only be checking the old location, not the new one. It "fixes" this problem by going and installing an OLDER version of PhysX. Which still won't work, because it's still probably in the wrong spot? There's a thread in the game's forum where some sharp users discuss a few fixes for the problem. I don't really like either fix, because I'll have to…

Gameplay / Story The intrepid adventurer Ernest Hamilton and his ingenious bird Sasha are on the trail of the ancient mystery of the lost continent and take the player on a fantastic journey around the world! In four different game environments you have to outsmart lurking enemies, overcome tricky obstacles and collect as many treasures as possible in order to secure a place on the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why is this "verified on Steam Deck"? Game crashes as soon as the actual game play starts, right after the cut scenes. Also, game has zero update history after its release in 2011, so don't expect it to be fixed. Steam needs to remove the "Verified on Deck" tag.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes frequently on Steam Deck and on desktop. Would not recommend
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Considering the $1 I paid for it, Hamilton's Great Adventure isn't a bad little puzzle game. It's charming, it has nice graphics and the puzzles are pretty straight forward. The gameplay consists of traversing a map from point A to point B, while dealing with things such as switches, converyors, gates, etc. that limit your movement. Your tools to deal with this are limited to add to the challenge. That's really all there is to it! So like I said, it's simple but it's not bad for a cheap…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am not sure I understand why the storefront says the game only works on Windows Vista or Windows 7, or why there are reviews from people complaining the game does not work. The game does work. I got it from a Humble Bundle and have been pleasantly surprised. I've tried the game on a laptop (Windows 10) with an Intel processor, and then on my desktop (Windows 11) with an AMD processor and Nvidia graphics. In both cases, it works.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The storefront of this game states that it wont work in Windows 10. Well it does. Played the 6 first levels and it works fine.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A superb puzzle platformer game where you collect treasure, map out your steps properly to not become trapped, and evade monsters and other obstacles. Collect the keys to open up the door to the next levels. It all sounds familiar and it is, but this is really well done and well paced. The difficulty level ramps up slowly and introduces new obstacles and new tricks. Highly recommended. This is a great balance between platforming and puzzle.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hamilton's Great Adventure is a big fat "no" for 2 main reasons #1: Hamilton's will not install one of its components correctly. Refer to the game's forum and notice how almost every thread is about how the game won't start. Its possible to correct the problem, but the developer hasn't bothered to update, fix, or write a solution, and there's a lot of confusion and misleading answers on the forum on how to get the game to run. #2: some idiot designed the game to be played with a 3 button…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →older game with crashing issues. good puzzle elements but the fact that it crashes on start up, or crashes when an enemy is hit, or crashes when you are hit means i cant recommend it at this point
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice looking and fun puzzle game from the PS3/Xbox360 era of a type that we don't see so much today on PC or console. Sadly it isn't compatible with Windows 10 and will crash in short order (even if you enable compatibility mode). I suppose it's understandable that the developers haven't updated it; I doubt it brings them any income. I think it's a great pity though, when games are lost to time like this. Do not buy if you are on or plan to upgrade to Windows 10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hamilton's Great Adventure is a game that I can't recommend. It's not that it's a broken game (though there's reports of computer problems, so buyer be ware). It's not that it's insanely hard or insanely easy. It's just not a very good game. If you have nothing else to play, maybe you'll get some enjoyment out of this, but the problem is I wouldn't spend money on it. The real problem of the game is the puzzles aren't well laid out, you can choose to either fly your bird over the level…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hamilton's Great Adventure game isn't a super-amazing game that will blow your mind, but it's still a very good game with excellent level design, charming aesthetics, and good music. The levels are expertly-crafted, and never come-off as stupidly easy, nor nonsensically obtuse. The "aha!" moments for puzzles that seemed impossible to decipher minutes prior remained a consistent experience throughout my entire play-through, and it was enjoyable from start to finish. Albeit, the game is a bit…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 decent game but it crashes from time to time, so you cant really play. thumbs down from me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun puzzle-platformer but unfortunately I cannot give my full opinion on the entirety of this game since it crashes a lot (I am playing this on windows 10). If the crashing issue would be fixed then I might change this review.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hamilton's Great Adventure is bland and uninspired. Once you've played through the first few levels you've seen it all. The following worlds don't change much other than the theme of the environment and its obstacles, which are all basically re-skinned models. Hamilton's avian companion has incredibly poor path-finding when played with mouse and keyboard and the camera's view can become obstructed by scenery. The challenge of later levels doesn't come from their difficulty but from the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fairly decent. The tutorial isn't the best I've seen in gaming. Okay I wasn't that impressed with this game. The graphics were decent, the story a bit boring. The game is just plain boring. Don't buy this game. There are other games in this genre that is way better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a decent action/puzzle game. You star as Indiana Jones knockoff Hamilton and his bird sidekick Sasha on a quest to find an ancient treasure. The game is broken down into 4 major areas, each consisting of a dozen levels or so. The goal of each level is to find a key, collect treasure, and make it to the exit alive (while avoiding the traps and baddies in your way). You not only have to figure out the proper way to solve each level, but some also require a fair bit of dexterity and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most polished, addictive and, dare I say, adorable puzzlers to come out in the past 20 years. The design of each and every one of the 63 levels is absolutely perfect. Puzzle fans: Play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game quickly becomes repetitive and boring, with puzzles that lack variety and fun. The controls are often unresponsive, which spoils the experience. Overall, it feels dull and unengaging, not worth the time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No problems on Windows 11. Just downloaded and played it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hamilton's Great Adventure is a simple puzzle game. As in, a very simple puzzle game. I wish I could say more about it, but that's the only word I can think of to describe it; simple. The graphics are simple, the sound and music is simple, the controls are simple, the gameplay is simple, and the story is very simple. This would be a good game for a young child, so if you have one (or several), they will likely enjoy it. Adults may quickly find it boring. There is little challenge, and no…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very absorbing and colorful game! I was going in to this game with a grain of salt, being a man that doesn't love puzzle games. But as it turns out, it is truly an amazing game! this game is worth every penny spent on it, no regrets! I highly recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only thing I have to complain about is the speed of the game the movement was oddly slow and it seems like the "puzzels" are a littil weak. Hamilton's Great Adventure _-3/10-_
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great with kids. Btw. we're still waiting for "Euler's Revenge" DLC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I slept while playing this game, I slept well thanks to it too. Check out how many hours I "played" this, ya I was well rested that night.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →About as good as eating a handfull of nails.......
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy to learn puzzle game where you'll lead two characters (one with mouse, other with keyboard) through many well designed and challenging levels. My only complaint is lack of checkpoints in levels near the end, because they're long and every mistake or death means restarting entire level, but other than that, there's no reason to pass this game if you're fan of puzzle games like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hum... entertaining but might get frustrating. This is a puzzle/platformer game. The graphics are good. The music is okish. The story is kinda lame and infantile. No bugs or crashes. Works fine on Win 7 (as should be, stop complaining it doesn't work on win 10. It is advertised that it won't swing outside vista and 7). Overall, it's a fun game but is also repetitive and it will stop being a puzzle later and become more like an annoying precision platformer with a non-cooperative camera.…

If youre looking for a simple, chilling puzzle adventure game to chill when you want to relax a bit, something easy to get into that doesnt get to stressful or demand too much from you, this is a great pick, hamilton is decently sized for what it is, it begins easy and has a satisfying gameplay loop and gets more challenging in the later laters, you will die a lot but the more you learn how to use the abilities the game gives to you the better you get, its…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Due to the gaming market being so competitive these days I would not recommend this game due to its crashing and substantial flaws. It's a shame as it had so much potential. At first I fell in love with this game. Its charming aesthetic knew no bounds. Its fantastic graphics, sound (though I could have done with a few more music tracks) and humour was an absolute delight. Once I played more that veneer started to fade. In the 3hrs I put into this game it has crashed to desktop 13 times before…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you really like puzzle games A LOT, and are willing to spend lots of time on them, then this game is for you!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game seems to be completely unable to start due to requiring the installation of out-of-date PhysX and other drivers. After dropping PhysX.dll into the game's main directory, I'm able to get the game window to not instantly close (and therefore able to get enough time to write a review, but the game is stuck with a "Fatal Error!" message: NxCreatePhysicsSDK() failed! Make sure you have the correct PhysX version installed." So, I'm just going to let this sit, get my Steam cards, and never…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game would have been great if the people developing it would have keep rule number one of video game development in mind "Games are made to have fun". Sadly they forgot to apply it The graphics are nice but they look pixelated (not sure if it looks better on Alienware technology but they do state that it works best with that in the intro screen... every time you open the game) and you have some visual elements that seems like they could be interacted with, like flowers for example, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun puzzle game with an Indiana Jones-style storyline and cute cast of characters. The gameplay reminds me of the old Crash Bandicoot games, running over platforms, collecting gems, and trying to get to the end of the level without dying. An excellent game for the $1.00 I paid for it with a 90% off coupon.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It isn't that great
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a great puzzle game. It has polished written all over it, except for one tiny thing; the bird controls. You use the mouse to guide your bird towards treasures and fruit, as well as triggers. But since you view the game from a fixed perspective (not entirely true as you can rotate and zoom) it's hard to judge if the bird is going to the right place, resulting in clicking the same place more than once, which is a shame, because that really shouldn't be necessary. Other than that, the puzzles…
