60 of 119 · most liked firstHey Guys, First of all I have to say I stumbled accidentaly over this game as I looked through the "soon available" section of steam. I thought it looks pretty funny and I should give it a try since so many new indie games which are really good just disappear without getting the attention they deserve. From what I have seen so far, after ~2 hours, the game is really entertaining. I will try to explain some criteria which may, or may not, be interesting for potential customers. Furthermore I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starts strong, but never develops anything past the first few levels and straight up degenerates into a poor action game in the last few. Which I wouldn't mind if the game had something else going for it, but the story is basic and the artstyle is pointlessly detailed with gore, yet primitive in regards to everything else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a game focused on writing there sure are a lot of spelling errors. Usually small typos ("inocent"), but the sentence "The town looked like a battlefield, but no battle was not fought here" got stuck in my mind. Considering that the game actually does not have a lot text, those things stand out. Other than that, the concept is as unique as the artstyle. If you're looking for that kind of thing, the gameplay and story are good enough to entertain you for 2-3 hours. The puzzles aren't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, this game is such a huge chore to play. The sound, music, artstyle and even the story all get old really quick. Not to mention how unnecessarily gory this game can get. However, its the gameplay which I find to be this game's worst aspect. It's so repetitive, slow and monotonous to play. To make matters worse, most parts feel designed to be dragged out for way too long as well. Levels consist of nothing but slowly walking back and forth, grabbing stuff out of the ground, within very…

When I go through my Steam Discovery Queue to find new games, the first thing that is going to catch my attention and make me really look at a game is a distinctive art style. Haimrik certainly has an aesthetic that makes it stand out immediately. It’s scratchily hand-drawn style is distinctive and wonderful to see in motion. You play as the titular Haimrik, a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[Pay$-to-Play] I completed this game in about 4.7h, I think this game will take between about 3 - 5 hours for completion. We play as the main protagonist, Haimrik , where we have to utilize words to solve puzzle. It is a combination of Action, Puzzle and Adventure which I find the game pretty fun and innovative. However note that there are a lot of missable achievements, but not to worry so long as we follow this video guide: Credits to the original creator: The Welsh Hunter…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My Playtime: 5.8h (100% achievement, finished the game) My First Playthrough: 4.3h Grindy Achievement(s): No. Optional Achievement(s): Yes (15 achievements, all missables). Difficult Achievement(s): No. Intro Haimrik is just a scribe living in a basement in a tiny village. One day, he found a book that can turn words into life. Haimrik tells the story of a protagonist of the same name with a focus on materializing objects from words and using them to solve puzzles. Pros: - Unique gameplay…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The creators of Haimrick had an idea : What if you could go on an adventure and fight your enemies with words ? With that concept in mind, they asked around whether it could make for an interesting game. Someone who liked the idea got in touch with them, and started giving his opinion : " It's an interesting idea that shows a lot of promise...". That's when the team, cheering with joy, left the room to start working on the game. Unfortunately, that's not all the guy had to say... Had he been…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The style and animation are very good and unique, the story is good too but the gameplay is meh and repetitive and sometimes frustrating (you need to be pixel perfect on certain words because they're too small then you get killed because later on the game becomes a simple pattern learning and reaction time game instead of puzzles or storytelling). I wouldn't really recommend this as a game but it is pretty interesting and unique.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game since it looked interesting. Once I got to the planting seeds part, there is a game breaking bug. I planted the poisonous fungus and killed off the locusts. However, after replanting the seeds with fertilizer and advancing to the next area, Haimrik is empty handed and I cannot finish the level. I tried this part again and had to restart from the beginning because there is no auto save feature before this glitch happens. I was extremely frustrated because I watched a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style is very unique, I’ve never seen anything like it before. Haimrik is a adventure puzzle game where you use words to reveal objects that help you complete the puzzles. The story is pretty neat, characters are charming and some are funny. You can complete the game in less than 5 Hours depending on if you get stuck on any puzzles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an interesting idea for a game plagued by one of the worst executions I've seen. For some reason most of the visual effects are invisible and basically act as goofy traps that serve as nothing but roadblocks to a fun and enjoyable story. The controls are frustrating to a degree I haven't felt since 8-bit days, relying on invisible mechanics. I think I bought it for a couple dollars so I'm not too bummed but I certainly can't recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been following the progress of this game since playing a demo a few years ago at PAX East. What a fantastic game this has turned out to be, so much attention to detail. There is no other game like it, the story is fantastic, the art style is unique. I highly recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting idea, but I found it to be boring and repetitive. It's not a bad game, just not a game that appeals to me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game that surprised me with lovely art and visual choice along with satisfying story. Main character is just random nobody young fella like in fairytales, but in the end gets cape or more likely book of a hero to start rampage against enemy hordes. Haimrik mixes puzzles, platforming, sidescrolling combat and storytelling with bit unique feature where you use words to defeat obstacles in Haimrik's way. This was one of those nice little game finds that gave neat experience and were their own…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haimrik: ~~~~~~ The country of Estria consists of four kingdoms, which were constantly at war with each other. Mind you, that was fairly much the norm in the Middle Ages. “What sort of event could reunite these four provinces,” wondered the King Udolf? Unexpectedly, Estria was attacked by a larger army, which forced the four regions of Estria to fight shoulder to shoulder to repel the invader. However, that was not enough! On the brink of defeat, King Udolf, led by one of his faithful…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game but good lord can I get a sprint button? Can I do something besides dodging the soldiers or whatever im fighting attack? If you make a mistake you spend another thirty seconds resolving a puzzle just to try again. So boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had no idea I would have so much fun with words as I did with Haimrik! It is storytelling taken to a new level! This little indie game has taken me completely by surprise. The puzzles are intuitive and allows for quick events and extremely creative solutions. Cute and gory with an awesome animal companion that doesn't care who she kills. When Haimrik uses his blood to activate a book he is transported into it's pages and has to run over it's words to become the ultimate Word Warrior! You…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING: This game features lots of blood and blood colors. If you do not like lots of blood or blood animations, please pass this game. Also, this game is not appropriate for young children. A teenager would be fine with this game though. Hello Friends, Today I will review the game Haimrik. This is a game that the player uses words to fight enemies. The player then pulls objects and items from teh words to manifest them as real objects in the world. This is a interesting mechanic inside…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(This game was a gift from a friend) I want to be able to recommend Haimrik, but unfortunately I can't; the game has a very neat concept but fails in so many other areas. For one thing, the keyboard controls are absolutely abysmal and there's no way to rebind them. Thankfully, it does have controller support and those controls are much more intuitive. Un-thankfully, I ran into issues with the controller as well. For one, taking a screenshot with your keyboard disables your controller for a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haimrik is a fairly interesting idea for a game, but not overly long or involved. Basically you've got side scrolling puzzles and some light platforming and action elements. When you're in a book, which is much of the game, you run over the words on a page and they affect the level. So, for example, running over the word "guard" makes a guard appear. But you can also stand over certain words and summon things from them, like pulling a weapon from the word describing it. The thing is, this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommend. 7/10. 7 Hour game. Pros: -Fun puzzle game. -Achievements are a bit challenging to get. -Great humor. Cons: -The killing and dying is a bit too graphical.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great concept, bad execution
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This short, cute little game doesn't have a great story or great mechanics. The puzzles are more boring than entertaining.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Art style is on-point. Brutal, Bloody, comical - very effective. Gameplay is wrapped around the " words are your mechanics " you walk on the story, and pull words up to use them to solve puzzles. They start off VERY easy, and start to scale slowly to be more involved, time sensitive, and rather complex. There's even boss fights. Come for the visuals, stay around for the insane story and humour from it. :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Grade: B- (60/100) I do genuinely adore the concept of this game, especially as someone who enjoys word games. However, it just wasn't fun at any point. The game feels a bit too tedious to play through and its story is damaged by constant interruptions (puzzle sequences). The graphics and music too can get bland or annoying eventually, and it really doesn't help that there are no control options in a game that is typically going to be played in shorter sessions. So sadly, I don't feel like I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty interesting yet fun game that reminds me a bit of Happy Tree Friends with how the game does the deaths. The story was actually pretty good and I enjoyed it a lot. I really like the art in the game. I love the game mechanics and thought it was a fun and somewhat unique. I don't like it when games that don't show the settings options in the first menu you see (thankfully, the devs did add a settings option but only after you start to actually play the game). There is no option or way to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Once upon a time... The art of storytelling Haimrik is a side scrolling puzzle game (with some light platforming and action elements) that requires you to think on your feet. You will use words to overcome obstacles forging tools and other useful items with your unique powers. Beginning in a squalid town, this mundane little corner of the world is an appropriate reflection of the game’s titular hero. Haimrik is a spectacularly unremarkable scribe who spends his days trying to scratch out a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haimrik: A Literacy-Based Adventure Haimrik has a lot to offer and some real uniqueness at its base level. However, this is marred by the inferiority of the other elements which seem like a poor attempt to justify the slightly too high price tag. The word-based gameplay is refreshing and entertaining, the styling is original but the narrative is cliché and the RPG sections become chore-like very quickly. Overall, I’d recommend it for fans of action-adventure games looking for something…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An amazing take on "gore novels". Its execution blooms with charisma and originality. A tale with a conclusion that makes worth the trip.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Original game where you play with words. Surprising story, funny content, eye-catching cartoon graphic and nice music. Brutally satisfying. Playtime - Four hours and more https://youtu.be/zmlpbH0x6cI
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a great and unique puzzle platformer with great and very bloody humor, but the game loop falls short pretty fast. Pity. Thumbs up because of its uniqueness.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay in Haimrik is absolutely astonishing! I’m usually the type who skips through most of the story and only cares about the basics, but even if you skip the dialogues, you still pick up on the story because it’s told through the gameplay itself - all built around clever wordplay. It’s such a unique concept, and it works brilliantly. Whether you enjoy story-heavy games or not, Haimrik delivers the same level of satisfaction. A true hidden gem! won this game in a giveaway on SteamGifts 4…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →★★★✯☆ Hamrik is a very unique platformer, I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the game and learning its mechanics. Don’t be fooled with the initial appearance of the game, its in essence a gory, action packed platformer where you need to traverse platforms of words that you can interact with the solve puzzles or kill enemies. The story of the game was quite unique and fun to experience. The gameplay was tight and imaginative. It has a fair price point for the amount of content present in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haimrik is a breath of fresh air in the indie game scene! The blend of vibrant visuals and clever storytelling sets it apart from many other titles. The hand-drawn art style is absolutely stunning, creating a whimsical atmosphere that draws you into the world. The gameplay mechanics are both innovative and engaging, with the unique word-based puzzles adding a clever twist to the traditional adventure formula. It’s a joy to see how your choices and the words you collect directly influence the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a joy to play and kept me entertained. The story is good and the idea and creativity is strong. Its different and relaxing to play but still challenging. Sometimes it does seem tricky to work some of the stuff out but the main negative is I can't seem to complete it. There is a part right near the end were a zombie type Baldwin chases you. I have looked online and watched videos and I do exactly what you are meant to and I die every time.. Seems bugged.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Drawing items, power and spell effects from words is an interesting concept. The story line is simple but quite unexpected. There are multiple ways to handle certain obstacles and the achievements require the player to use a more difficult approach by having additional restrictions. There's no re-play chapter function after finishing the game, so will have to replay the whole thing if missed any achievement. It is possible to get all achievements in one run though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was surprisingly fun, and the gore actually reminded me a little of the dark comedy splatter show 'Happy Tree Friends'! 📕 The unique concept of bringing words to life by walking on them to solve puzzles is brilliantly creative. While the controls are not the best, the game is still fully playable. The puzzles are quite easy, and the gameplay as a whole is pretty simple to master. If you are an achievement hunter, this is a quick and entertaining completion. A very fun and quirky…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing gameplay with a fun little twist where puzzles and story telling is merged into one. It really makes for a great and fun interactive story and the entire character with the development of the events forcing the main protagonist to either shape up or die at the hands of misfortune. Music sold the entire package, although I have to be honest, it does become a little repetitive if you take your time playing the game. The art style of the game is really cool with the hand drawn cartoon…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was relatively interesting, but one of the dragon fights seems annoying difficult to get past and so never finished.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate to write this, but I can't recommend this game. The story is not that convincing and the game is kinda clunky. I couldn't finish it because it is not enjoyable.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good idea, bad development
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haimrick is an adventure puzzle game that brings a new bloody red and fun spin on the standard puzzle games. Its unique way of using words to create objects or stuff to combine and use to solve puzzle is its best selling point along its really weird and comedic story. If you are a fan of puzzle games Haimrick is something you should not pass up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed every part of it, the word puzzles as well as the running minigames and boss battles. The art is amazing and unique.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice game with an interesting story. Game Complexity: It is an narrative game with puzzles. Game Difficulty: The puzzles and the boss fights are easy when you know which words are usable. Achievements Complexity: Some achievements increase the complexity of the puzzles since you need to use another method to solve them. Achievements Difficulty: Same as the Game Difficulty but if you miss them you have to restart the whole game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are some really good games on that list. -Hammerwatch -Haimrik -Hitman 2 -Hotshot Racing -Hero of many I would really like Hollow Knight and Kingdom Rush but I doubt you have so many keys for them but if you do, could I get them instead of Hero of Many and Haimrik? Thank you
unlabelledView post →The only thing that really bothered me during the game... was how often my hand got cut. Other than that — a pretty solid experience. Lots of blood. I used to be more into this kind of thing — the rawness of violence, the shock of it — but I guess as I’ve grown older, I still support honesty in storytelling… It’s just that these scenes don’t excite me anymore. They make me feel uneasy, not thrilled. Hehe. ...not funny, actually.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a unique art style and juggles both comedy and a dark tone. It's not perfect. The mechanics are a bit rough at times, particularly near the end, and the story can drag on a bit. I also found a few spelling and grammatical errors, which is ironic considering this is a word game, but overall it's quite fun and interesting. The purpose of the game is to use certain words to progress through puzzles and defeat powerful bosses. It's pretty good, and I think most people will enjoy it if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the start of the game, I thought I was really going to enjoy it. It's an original idea, which seems full of potential - but potential which ultimately never really comes close to being fulfilled. The visual style is well done, and the general vibe of the game is fun. The story is alright - but everything feels very rushed, especially as you get closer to the end. I guess this is a reflection that they knew they couldn't stretch out the game further and remain remotely enjoyable. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haimrik is a console ported 2D puzzle platformer with a modestly unique twist, the lengthy narrative is woven into the level and puzzle design. You must interact with the words of the story to solve puzzles. For example, you must stand over the word "key" in the story and you can pull out a key to unlock a door. Some people call that "composite gameplay". I call it "boring". The game uses modestly okay hand drawn art, but the monotone art style is somewhat depressing in this modern age of…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terribly boring, weak story, weak game mechanics. If it is a puzzle game, the puzzles are difficult or interesting. If it's a story game, the story is marginal.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am amazed that a game could be rated so high, yet I find it so boring I dont want to finish it, even if its short. Visuals look neat and voice work is fine, thats about only thing I can praise the game for. Story/writing is kind of dumb/boring. You are playing as a pathetic basement dweller in his moms house that sets out on adventure to save the kingdom. I found that neither interesting nor amusing. Movement and combat are slow, almost a drag. The word puzzles mechanics are very simple…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I find this game particularly good for language exercise. Its special use of words works well in different languages (between me and my friend, we tried English, German and Spanish). Otherwise a simple and somewhat easy game that's lite and interesting.
