It runs like a potato trying to render Skyrim, crashes if you look at it wrong, and yet… I love every single cursed second of it. The world’s huge, the music’s god-tier, and the NPCs sound like they all share one brain cell — in the best possible way. You don’t play Gothic 3, you survive it. And if you made it past the first village, you’ve earned your place among legends. Boar trauma aside, still one of the best…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game after patch. For 2006 year is crazy to thing how good it is. Much of the aspects are groundbreaking in terms of immersion till this day. Frankly gameplay is much more engaging than its contemporary TES 4: Oblivion, which is crazy to say since Oblivion is universally revered and Gothic 3 barely got any exposure. Quiet sad. Nevertheless game is a hidden gem and totally worth playing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The proverbial fork in the road. If you take one path you arrive at Arcania, if you take another path you arrive at Risen, or you can circle back and arrive at Gothic Remake. Gothic 3 is the game that could, but didn't. Piranha Bytes bit more than they could chew, and JoWood rushed the bread out of the oven. As a result we got an empty jumbled mess that shows its colours the moment it stops dangling the keys of 'liberate this city from the orcs' in front of your face, and you finally…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game tries to do a lot of different things, and to be fair, most of them actually work. But the reputation system is a serious problem and ends up hurting the experience quite a bit. Once you liberate just two camps belonging to a faction, you’re basically locked out completely—you can’t even talk to their leaders anymore. For example, if you decide to side with the rebels and wipe out the orcs in Myrtana, then later head to the desert, things get messy. Orc troops or mercenaries in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game shows what truly matters. Not flashy graphics, amazing facial animations, 300 guns or astronomical physics. But a map that feels alive, choices that matter, random conversation in the street, monsters fighting each other in their natural habitats, actual NPC's with stories, lives and humor. Places that don't feel randomly generated but neatly placed for you to discover. A world where you walk into and instantly feel like- yes, this place is at war and I can change that. One way or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Continuation of legendary trilogy Gothic 3 is the sequel to the cult series of the Gothic series. And to be honest in many game aspects this title worse then previous parts of games. And today I would like to share my opinion on this game, what I like, and what dislike and give a rating to this game. So let's begin. Story line I will began my analyses if this game, with a little bit talk about plot in this game. This story is subsistence to Gothic 2 game. And it began with returning our…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gothic 3 is a shadow of its predecessors. It feels ambitious, but unfinished. The world in Gothic 3 is vast compared with the first two games. Vast, but empty. A lot of the content in this game is driven by side-quests and exploration, which become tiresome after a while. To try to drive you to explore everything, collectathon aspects have been introduced in the form of linearly progressing chests, which contain the best loot. Ultimately, this ends up being more of a chore than anything. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only recommended with the following mods: CPT patch (ofc) quest packet mod content mod parallel universe mod lively towns mod consequences mod I also recommend the additional mods but they're not needed, just improves world aesthetic imho: Rebuilt armor and weapons mod alternate world mod I also recommend changing the in-game font from comic sans to gothic3 font.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I had the chance to choose one old game out of all existing ones to get a remake, without any hesitation I would choose Gothic 3. I genuinely dream of a remake of this game. I am ready to buy the remake of the first part when it comes out, and the second one as well, if it ever happens, just to support it. This universe and this game stayed with me and left a deep mark on me
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yet another Gothic game that won't run on Steam and Windows 10/11, I have tried many times and it just fails. If you're going to sell a game on a major gaming platform and charge money for it, then it should run on standard hardware and OS combinations!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Faction system, challenging early progression, beautiful locations across three main biomes, immersive and rewarding exploration, multiple approaches to quest solving — Gothic 3 still has all the elements that have kept fans engaged for more than two decades. As for the story and combat... let's be honest — these two elements were never strong in the Gothic series to begin with. The main reason to play a Gothic game is immersive exploration. Additionally, the town-liberation system is what…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game if you play with mods . One of the best open world RPG . Nostalgia !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Masterpiece of Disappointment Gothic 3 is an open-world action RPG that directly continues the story of the Nameless Hero after the previous entry. An incredibly disappointing finale to an immersive series. I'm a huge Piranha Bytes fan with a massive tolerance for AA Eurojunk, but Gothic 3 still let me down. If you absolutely must play it, do yourself a favor and play as a mage - the melee combat is fundamentally broken. Pros: Vast, handcrafted open world. Strong, dedicated modding…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ignore both, the positive and negative reviews. This game is something you need to experience for yourself. After the first hour, you know if you want to keep it or not. Just grab it. Refund it if you need. Don't be fooled.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gothic 3 unfortunately doesn’t live up to its predecessors. It shipped with even more bugs than the earlier games, and producer Mike Hoge later admitted in an interview that the game was unfinished at release. It’s easy to see that it was rushed but thankfully, the community patches have gone a long way toward fixing it. The story picks up right after Gothic II. The nameless hero (still humorously interrupted whenever he tries to introduce himself) returns to the mainland and quickly discovers…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After Gothic 1 and 2 After finishing Gothic 1 and 2, I went into Gothic 3 expecting more of the same style. Same rough charm, same progression, same world-building. After about 7 hours… I’m done. The World The world is big. Really big. And in some ways it feels more alive. NPCs move around more, carry things, work, and towns feel more active than before. That’s probably the only real improvement. Story The story makes no sense. It’s not engaging, not interesting, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a complete step down from Gothic 1 and 2. Even Chronicles of Myrtana, a fan-made mod is a way better game than this. Gothic 3 plays like an unfinished tech demo. It's clear they didn't have enough time to finish this game. Its unpolished with no real captivating story.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gothic 3 once upon a time was a nigh unplayable technical mess, but with the current community patches and parallel worlds patch it's almost functionally perfect and the game underneath (while jank) is one of the most interesting and underappreciated games of the CRPG genre. Character progression is different from previous Gothic games but just as strong (if not better). The reputation system is incredibly cool and adds a lot of weight to quests and choices and the open world is extremely well…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even thou it's disliked by many Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 fans, I still consider Gothic 3 as one of the best rpg games of all time. With little bit of tinkering with patches (Installing Community Patch 1.75 and Paraller Universe Patch 1.1.1.) this game becomes smooth and playable, despite being mess on release back in 2006. World is couple of times larger than its predecesors G1 and G2, it's beautiful to explore and find it's secrets, music is top notch, it's Kai Rozenkranz in the end. Story is not…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the best game I've ever played. My whole childhood was revolving around it. Ever since I was born, my dad was playing Gothic 3. He got me into this game and I watched. I played it without even asking for permission to use the computer. And today, at March 31st, I finally got to beat it without cheats or my father's help. Gameplay: 10/10. The fighting has no complexity, just learn the patterns of the attacks of your enemy and you will defeat them. Story: 10/10. Quite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is awesome, but the gameplay (sword fighting, bow, even magic ) are awful and nerfed ! its a pain in the ass to just end it.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played Gothic 3 when I was in high school. I liked it but I didnt finish it. Now I am older and therefore wiser. 1. Lack of quest markers - Gothic 3 isnt Skyrim with quest markers pinpointing the exact chest you need to open on the other side of the map, nor does it have the clairvoyance spell. The game devs might call it design decision. I call it Alt + Tab-ing and searching on Youtube. Including quest markers as an accessibility option deep in the menu would help many. 2. Combat -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is definitely the worst game in the trilogy. It has an awful combat system and a lot of repetitive content. The story is OK, but that's not enough. The vast majority of the gameplay is boring and annoying. As a fan of G1 and G2, I was always disappointed with G3, and I still am after giving it another try.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgia all the way for me. Good graphics, good gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gothic 3 is not a game for everyone—but for those who value freedom, atmosphere, and role-playing above hand-holding and polish, it is a truly unforgettable experience. It’s a cult classic that dares to be different, and that bravery is exactly why it’s still remembered fondly today.10/10!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I clicked the thumbs down button while writing the review and steam deleted it so I'm gonna keep it short. Gothic 3 is a broken, buggy, badly optimized mess of a game with the worst melee combat system I've ever experienced. This is the 3rd time I've tried to get into a Gothic game and the 3rd time it has left a bad taste in my mouth. At least it starts without having to install mods unlike the first 2.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even with all the community patches and fixes, the game just isn’t good. The story feels lacking in every aspect. Varant is empty and tedious, and the dialogues there seem rushed. Most conversations with NPCs in that region are meaningless and come across as shallow or even dumb. I was pleasantly surprised by Nordmar—it felt more alive and better written. The quests there were also somewhat more enjoyable. Still, much of the gameplay boiled down to being a walking simulator: “Go to X cave…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gothic 1 and 2 are video game classics, for sure. But Gothic 3 stole my heart. The developer did not / could not finish the game properly, which is sad in all honesty. But the community patch saves this title for me. And oh boy, what a world. I love to come back to this title every now and then and trying out new builds. But what really keeps me getting back is the world and the soundtrack. In my opinion, Gothic 3 has the best soundtrack of all of those three titles and it just warms my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →only for fans of the series who wish to see where it goes (ie: where it all went wrong) there's bones of a good game here, it just seems like the scope was too large and time/money was either too limited or wasted. the three-tier map is cool and parts of it are actually rather beautiful. music is nice, if more generic than Gothic 1/2. the concept of factions/reputation presented here is super dope, but implemented horribly and barely functions. finally having an impactful choice in deity…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a fun 7/10 game. it has a cooler premise than gothic 2 imo and the idea of starting very weak and building up to become extremely powerful is still there. it feels a bit bloated with a bunch of side quests being very similar, exploration is kind of meh, its way worse to find where you need to go for a quest compared to gothic 1 and 2 because npcs will give you a general direction from their location and nothing else and you just kind of wander until you find it. music is nice except the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unlike Gothic 1 & 2, this one does not have launch issues and doesn't crash once you get it running... instead it just freezes and the screen goes black. *insert Stanley from The Office eyeroll GIF*
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Too bad it's unplayable without the community patches.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game its peak
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game a lot when it first came out and had a lot of fun. I was only 9, maybe 10 at the time (playing Gothic instead of Pokemon or whatever), so it definitely left a strong impression on me. However, coming back to it now, even with all the community patches and mods that improve the experience, I can’t shake the feeling that the core of the game is somewhat empty and unfinished. I don’t judge it for its visuals, but more for its gameplay and story. The structure tends to repeat…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gothic 3 has an amazingly large world to explore and tons of things to do, but also a lot of rough edges. The AI is slow-witted and the combat system is mere button smashing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →needs manually patches and all but its great game, if you played 1 & 2, yeah play this one, look at ytube videos on how to patch it! theres plenty!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh the nostalgia. It is indeed full of bugs (though the community patch helped with them a lot), it was a real trip through nostalgia land and enjoyed every second. Strongly recommend for Gothic (and in general RPG) fans...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Positives • Pretty graphics • Memorable soundtrack • Strong atmosphere • Massive open world with impressive scale for its era • Varied biomes across the continent • High degree of player freedom in how you approach the world The Negatives • Poorly told story with severe pacing issues • Large stretches of a barren overworld • Unpolished and unsatisfying combat system • Braindead AI • Major balance problems • Shallow and repetitive quest design • Severe and persistent…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is definitely an acquired taste. On the one hand, you have a game with mediocre RPG elements, poor combat, and quests that involve bringing back 10 wolf skins. On the other hand, you have wonderful music, a unique open world, and a storyline that is one of the few that perfectly harmonises with the world (the fact that it is almost non-existent is another matter). Add to that a lot of mods that are of dubious quality but add so much content that at some point you just switch off your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite its flaws it still manages to be lots of fun as previous games gameplay loop of exploration, quest solving, and gaining more power is still here. Especially with fan mods and rebalances. They don't give amazing combat to the game but they do make it difficult and you cannot go kill end game enemies or whole towns at level 1. Also there are mods that change all enemy designs to how they looked in G1/2 which is just funny.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No matter what others say, the game is great, played it when it was released, and still replay it sometimes and enjoy it. Is it flawed? Ofc, but it's still a good attempt at continuation of previous two games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my alltime favorite RPGs and the last of the "real" Gothic games from the original developer. I played the 1.6 patch version, although my AI buddy and others recommend the 1.75 community patch version. There were a few times when I probably would not have been able to proceed without my good buddy Marvin, the developer console, so yes the game is still a bit quirky--maybe 1.75 solves most of those issues. One of the best examples is that when I got to the Monestary, Milten was not in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the biggest pile of ♥♥♥♥ ive played when it comes to open world rpgs. The game looks absolutely disgusting. Its 20 years later and it was ugly back in 2006 too. When it comes to art direction especially. Characters look terrible and weird. With missmatched heads and torsos. Different colored skin. The World is ugly too with copy pasted structures everywhere. Music is nothing to write home about either. It has few tracks and gets repetetive fast. Out of every piranha game ever made…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Made back in 2006,sad to say but beats down many "modern" games in both story, size, even graphics and freedom of choice, graphics are way better then many of modern titles, and that is actually sad when you think how much a good pc cost these days just to run old graphics new games on them..

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're playing PC be sure to check your key bindings BEFORE you start this game. I didn't play this game for YEARS because I couldn't figure out how to attack. It you can't attack and are getting killed its most likely because the correct attack keys haven't been assigned. 3 years later I decided to check and now I am finally enjoying this game for the first time lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is still one of my favorite games up to this day. With the community patches, parallel patch and universal launcher you get a nearly smooth experience. The gameplay is very grindy and tedious which is something I really like. Completing 99% of all there is took me 140 hours. I had a real fun time with this journey and it was worth the 5 bucks so much more than most AAA games I've played the past 10 years. I'm glad it's still possible to play this 20 year old games. If you like grindy,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is terrible. Somehow mele combat is worse than in decade younger previous version. Bow/crossbow builds works only on easiest settings and mage is cool, but in community patch the strongest spells are accesable only on the last one hour of game, so you are just grinding with single spell for 99% of the game. Towns have no merchant squares, not pubs etc. npc's are just occupying their houses/workshops and that is it, while in previous gothicks they had simplified scripted lifes.
