Gods Will Fall
Developer Clever Beans
The gods’ torturous rule over humanity has lasted for millennia. Bent on cruelty and suffering, they demand to be served with blind worship through an oath of fealty pledged from every man, woman and child. To those who don't submit to the gods’ will; a slow and merciless death awaits. From the Steam store page

Combat is straight up clunky, crazy inaccurate and extremely repetitive. Exploration is pointless as the levels are largely baron outside of the same 3-4 enemies over and over until you reach the boss. Once you enter a dungeon, there's no backing out (from what I see) until your whole crew is dead, so if you enter a dungeon…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Guys. Come on. The game is unplayable. Not only is the walk cycle infuriatingly slow (this MUST be a bug........ right???), the enemies that jump down in the first dungeon glitch out and go to Narnia. Every time. Then you're stuck in a soft-lock because you can't "press R2 to do a heavy attack," on an enemy that inhabits a different plane of existence. No bueno, boys. Will swap to a recommend if this is fixed in a timely manner.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will say this right off the bat this game is definitely not for everyone. This is not diablo don't play if you cannot stand losing or think this is a simple button masher. (WARNING: This game was designed for a controller, although it is not impossible to play with a keyboard it will take practice, dont hesitate to reconfigure the keys to something you are comfortable with) The basic premise is you have 8 randomly generated warriors and 10 gods to kill, to kill one you must choose one…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No support for basic mouse controls? No.. just....no.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gods Will Fall gives an unfavorable first impression. The gargling voice-over in the intro made me so uncomfortable I had to mute my volume, there is a Vsync bug which doesn't like when you have that setting turned off and makes the game unplayable, and keyboard gameplay is awkward and clearly not the way this game was made to be played. That being said...when you configure your Vsync to on within the game, ditch the keyboard for a controller, and forgive the things Gods Will Fall does poorly,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Falls under the category of games that want to be try-hard ("souls-like") but with absolutely wretched combat mechanics. It feels like you're driving a truck that's missing a wheel. Controls are barely responsive and the dodge/parry mechanics - the cornerstone of really any solid combat focused game - may be the worst I've ever experienced. There are myriad other issues that don't make sense in a final release like actions simply not responding. The dodge to run is sketch from the jump, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a little short, having completed my first run in 5 hours, however I really enjoyed my time in this game, the atmosphere and world are excellent and unlike some of the other reviews here I actually found the controls to be just right once I got used to them. Look forward to more to come and seeing where this game goes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Promising cover artwork aside Gods graphics look like munted Unity assets. It's upon recognising the overused visual presentation upon start that I knew it wasn't going to be the game i had hoped for. Like a really long hot day at Disney World you take a large team around an island looking for various exhibits to spelunk. Your team consists of all ages, shape and size and sadly they are as adequate in battle as they would be in real life. So if you take five year old Timmy up against a nine…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this game is pretty cool, but I wouldn't recommend it to any soul on this earth. (With a caveat below.) Some of the visuals in this game are absolutely gorgeous (others are hilarious), but a few mechanics are quite questionable. Your characters traverse the landscape like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ car lmao, seriously. Not even just in the overworld but in the dungeons too. Not only while sprinting but moving AT ALL. If you're playing on a keyboard straight up forget about enjoying this game, it might…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tbh. If you sell a game that practically can't be played on mouse and keyboard, at least make it somewhat easy for people to know. Won't even try and criticize any other aspect of the game until it's PC friendly. Honestly just market it as a console port so no one will be surprised by the lack of options available.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have not played a worse turd of a game. This was beyond horrible: - Clunky movement, attacks, and overall battle mechanics, pulled out of a bad ps1/ps2 era type of game. - Huge amount of bugs resulting in untimely deaths due to stuck heroes or animations leading into one-hit kill falls - Horrible environments and graphics. Art style in trailers is oversold and in reality environments are simply poor and empty And many more... I wasted 2 hours playing, so I will not waste 2 more writing a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A challenging game full of charm and atmosphere. Note: I bought this on special with 40% off. I finished Gods Will Fall last night and was pleasantly surprised at the fun journey I had just had. I bought this game despite the mixed reviews because I saw something in the trailers that just clicked with me and I think a lot of the negative reviews are there because the game isn't what most gamers were expecting. Yes the game has rogue-like elements and dare I say it, is a little souls like,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://steamcommunity.com/groups/The_dull_games_reviewer There's gods. They're a bunch of gits. You want to go kill them. So you set out on a quest in an isometric hack and slasher. Eight warriors, each armed with a different skill-set, must brave several dungeons that each belong to a god. You can either weaken the god by killing its troops, which is tough, or go straight to the god and take it on with more health. The order in which they're faced is up to you. I mentioned that they have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting premise. You've got a group of folks who are setting out to battle the old gods and kill them. For whatever reason only one of them can ever go into a battle scene at once, but I guess it's some sort of honorable thing. Maybe it was explained in the intro. But the intro is like an assault on the ears and I went to the fridge to grab a snack instead. Gameplay is a bit hack'n'slash and roguelike, and a whole heap of awful. Movement speed of your characters, even the ones…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definetely not as bad as reviews say. Most and for all, default control setting is absolute madness. You cannot bind attacks to mouse buttons, but with help comes AutoHotKey and after doing that, game becomes completely playable. One could expect more weapons variety and maybe some reusable skills on your peeps to make combat more interesting, but after all it's acceptable. People say it's hard, but I didn't notice - you can replenish your HP easily during battles and your characters can gain…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →clunky control. boring concept. repetive gameplay half the game you run from one dungeon to another. clearing dunguons magically make path clear. worst part totally overpriced. with the gameplay and the content right now its worth 1 to 3 bucks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In many ways the work of a critic is easy, we risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up there work and themselves to our judgment. The world is often unkind to new talent and new creations and rightfully so in this case. You would think that 0.7 hours is not enough time to fully determine if a game is good or bad. In this case it is quite the opposite. I was plagued with having to play this game trying to give it a shot and just further cementing the sad truth that this game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The fact that there's no mouse support is really odd, I admit -- I shut the game off in the first few minutes trying to use a keyboard -- but after I tried it again and switched to a controller it got MUCH better. Haven't run into any bugs yet that some of the other reviews are mentioning, and considering Deep Silver is the publisher chances are they have either been patched or will be patched really soon. It feels like Shadow of the Colossus a little in terms of who your targets are/lack of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The controls feel clunky for a fighting rogue like game. Everything feels really limited, like it was a demo game project made by a few college kids in their senior year of game design class. Maybe this would have all been fine if it was $5 but not for something over $20 worth.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls felt sluggish and the game is too easy also a BAD PC port
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy to learn but hard to master. You either love it or hate it. The kind of game that can make you break your keyboard/controller. I would not recommend it to people with anger management problems. Had a hard time playing the game with the keyboard, as it feels twisted and attacking diagonally is bugged, but great experience playing it with the controller.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a good game at all. You just go into a dungeon, die and then have to restart the whole thing again with another turd warrior. How dare you, Deep Silver...

Sometimes I play a game and I wonder what exactly said game is trying to do. Is it trying to be this genre? Is it trying to be like this other game? It’s like an identity crisis of sorts, and that’s basically my experience playing through Gods Will Fall. Note: Trimmed review to fit character limit, check video for full version! Gameplay: So Gods Will Fall is part action roguelike, part hack and slash, part…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gods Will Fall is a great game - it has a decent amount of enemies, quite a number of bosses with their unique mechanics and quirks, beautiful artstyle that just screams "Celtic mythology" and appropriate (if repetitive) music. What it does not have, and also the reason why I recommend this game on sale ONLY, is the overall content and variety - first of all, it feels like a roguelike, without the cool relics/artifacts to be picked up and used to enhance your characters or give them some unique…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really awesome game! I loved the visuals, the combat, and although some weapons with their own fighting styles are difficult I loved them. Having your characters possibly die also made the game even more satisfying in beating each god and realm. And one of the most loved parts of the game is each new game all warriors you have are completely unique and different. The really only negative I have from this game is it's to short. Which makes me rate the game about 9/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks pretty good, but it MAKES you to play with control. This game "LOOKS LIKE" to Dark Souls, however there is no way to lock the enemy that makes you fight with the wind while the enemy blows you up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off... I have played this game quite a bit, despite what Steam shows. Got it for free on the Epic Store. However, I wanted to purchase on Steam and do a proper review since I see this game is struggling. I did refund it but continue to play on Epic. I tore this game up in my first review, but after forcing myself to stay committed to it, I've grown to enjoy it quite a bit. Keep in mind, it is frustrating with some clunky combat and difficult game play mechanics, but you'll eventually…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is not for everyone, right off the bat that should be known. It can come across as repetitive fighting your way across each of the god's realms to get to them, and losing a warrior (or all of them) can get you stuck in a really hard place in a play through and could spell the end of a run. That said, if you're okay with those issues, then you may enjoy Gods Will Fall. There's a good deal of RNG involved with the warriors you have resulting in no two runs ever being the same. Some may…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →trash and really boring game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Last update has made movement a lot better. Still sluggish, reminds me of a tank. Still have short freezes and frame drops, but the game is playable now. Still needs work. I'll give it time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wait until fixes come through, as well as more interesting roguelike mechanics. The idea that this game could be called Roguelike in its current state is laughable. The only element kind of like this is that you get random(meaningless) items, and random(meaningless) characters and traits.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some more of my environment work from Gods Will Fall, the Realm of Bone. Also created the destructible boss arena for this one.
unlabelledView post →It's not as bad as most of the reviews say it is... but it is janky as ♥♥♥... takes some time to get used to. Also the keybinding in options is pretty bad, but manageable. Really punishing damage system, but on the other hand, dealing ♥♥♥♥ ton of dmg to bosses also feels nice. If it's on a good sale, it's worth a try because the bosses have some nice cinematics to them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite the rng in this game, I really like it. I like that the levels are chill when it's on the easier difficulties. I like that there are more unique enemies that keep you alert on the highest difficulties, while still giving you the ability to weaken the gods/bosses by killing their minions, or vassals as the game calls them, and also gives you some very powerful weapons upon completing said difficult levels. I like the combat system, which despite most people saying it is buggy and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks nice, has short of an Asterix look to it, but damn if the controls are really hard to get a grip on, can't get more than 3 rooms into the tutorial. I've tried a half a dozen times, but it is just inaccessible to me, so I cannot obviously recommend it. Only one thumb down though, might be a good game in there somewhere.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is ok but dodge and parry are the same button why is that necessary. i pre-ordered was disappointed immediately
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun game that I see people doing challenge and speed runs for a long time! The randomly generated difficulty for each level, and the cast of characters you have keeps things fresh! Bosses are designed very well, and each level fits their personality and design.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only played a little bit of the game, but I've gotta say, all these other reviews about controls being an issue is BS, just plug in a controller and you'll be fine, the game is entertaining and the combat is smooth. I've killed my first 2 Gods, my one worry is the game is going to be too easy and short but otherwise great game Edit: I was correct in my assumption that the game would be too short, I very much hope they plan on adding a lot more to the game since I did enjoy it, but for how…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely worth it on a sale. I plan to keep picking at this and see if I can get further. It seems to want you to memorize levels, enemy patterns, movesets with the different characters you can get, etc. and use that skill along with random perks to succeed. The art style is beautiful overall and the game seems well-made (unless you try to play on keyboard...don't even bother with the game if you don't have a controller, keyboard bindings are far from ideal and unchangeable). I wonder why…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →weird control map - unmappable. avoid
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I started playing and didn't stop till I finished the game. That pretty much sums up my game experience. Captivating with fun individual storylines that change during each run depending on how well you do or don't. Challenging but still manageable increments in difficulty. The only thing it lacked in my opinion was more combat variety regarding the enemies and the moveset availble to you. For the price and my overall experience: 8/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is gonna be a long message but I really need to vent. For the past hours I been laying on my bed without socks and just crying. I'm struggling with my mental health and it's sort of getting bad. Everything seems really gray. My Life my friends my hobbies. I don't feel joy as I used to. I wish I could just escape and live somewhere colorful but everything is just monotone for me. My PTSD is causing panic attacks twice a week and causing lots of flashbacks. School is giving me major pressure…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting art style, great music and sound in this indie feeling game. Some engine jank with jumping but the movement feels solid and game has a satisfying feel to it. I did remap the controls to have combat on the sholder buttons of controller rather than the face ones. Would urge developers to rethink the same button dash and parry. I think we would be better with a lock on mechanic and more akin to souls. Perhaps try that and make it an options between control modes? So far I am…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is like a darksoul but your lives is your party of vikings... so if you are bad ...you die alone. 9 on 10 difficulty is very high for the bosses. nice colorful and dark dungeons The LORE is deathlike pretty good ------- I got a few surprise in the game.... it's AAA
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GG I love it...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, I enjoyed my time with this. If you take it as what it is, an indie beat 'em up with a pretty great art style, I think you'll have a good time. I personally found the game to be rather easy once I got accustomed to it, so the main "hook" of the game, the evolving storylines, had little ultimate impact on me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting mechanics and gameplay loop but it doesn't feel good :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gods Will Fall is a grim, atmospheric action-roguelike that throws you into a world where humanity has suffered under the cruelty of ancient gods for generations. Instead of setting you up as a traditional hero destined for triumph, the game opens with a devastating defeat: almost every warrior sent to challenge the gods is lost at sea, leaving only a handful of survivors washed ashore on the gods’ domain. These eight warriors form your entire roster for the rest of the run, and their struggle…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly? This game leaves a lot to be desired. Unless you have a controller, the keybinding is clunky as hell. There's probably a better way to parry with the controller. I wouldn't know, and I'm not planning on playing long enough to find out. Unless you have the spear, you're SOL. Seriously, if you don't have a spear, don't bother.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One big problem with this game, that ruins the rest of the game......movement and attack direction controls are so poor, usually, the mouse is usually used to direct the attack, and keys to move, not here, the mouse will not direct the attack, the keys do both attacking and movement creating frustrating game play, I only paid £1.50 for this game and I have played it for 72 minutes, that will be the extent of my playing time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally, I think its a pretty good game. It is very hard and especially unfair at times but once you get the ball rolling it becomes incredibly satisfying. It only compounds as story events begin stringing together and you figure out level mechanics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a lot of fun. I absolutely adore the language and great vibe. In addition to being an action RPG
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's sad that cookie-cutter games like rogue-like, soul-like, and survivor-like are played by so many people, while unique, lyrical, and fun action games like this one don't get understood and are disappearing. It's sad that there are so many people who play the game for only a short amount of time and then write negative reviews like they understand everything, or click "helpful" on such reviews. The game reminds me of AMIGA and MEGA DRIVE era action games, like Heimdall (although it's not a…
