The symbolism takes priority over the puzzles, so it may not be for everyone. But it gets its message across quickly and clearly.

It’s rather obvious that this game isn’t a huge professional one, but rather a dear heart project, dealing with the issues of depression and the resulting self-loathing. So on an objective basis, sure, it’s extremely short, there are quite some bugs all around, the gameplay isn’t deep, and achievements even delete themselves if you start a new game (so you have to do them all in one take). But guess what, I’ll still give this a thumbs up, probably because I’ve got a history of my own that can…

I think this game captures the constant unsettled feeling that comes with anxiety, you can be alone in your room with everything perfect and still feel in the back of your mind that something is wrong. The game is short and a little rough around the edges but it was still a good experience.

As someone who's dealt with anxiety for a good chunk of my adult life, I went into Fractured Minds with some level of expectation that it would manage to recreate the crippling and often debilitating emotional state it can leave a person in. While I wouldn't say it necessarily failed in doing so, it certainly didn't evoke any familiar feelings either. My 100% (achievements included) run clocked in at just under a half hour. The idea here was to allow the player a short glimpse into the mind of…

Not recommended - the only reason people claim to like the game is because it is made by some young girl. A bunch of minimalist segments with supposed symbolic value that do not lend themselves for enjoyable gameplay. Ending messes up the sounds. There is gameplay for maybe five minutes. The rest of the time will be spent trying to figure out what to do next because the design is quite unclear. I got this from a Fanatical Mystery Bundle. It would be advisable to not upvote these bottom of the…

Fractured minds is a rather important game, I feel. Not only does it tackle rather touchy subject matter, but its made by a very creative and talented young girl. This game is the whole reason I love indie horror. I feel more of a connection to these smaller scale, lower budget, more obscure games because there is very obviously a rather human connection with the experience. this is not to say you can't get that with big AAA titles but more often than not, I'll find myself gravitating toward…

I can't really recommend this to people. It's not like it's a completely awful game, it's just not got a lot for you to do. I has 6 levels, most of which you can complete in a matter of minutes. It has very easy achievements however you must unlock them all in the same playthrough otherwise they won't stay unlocked. Also once you've unlocked all the achievements you can't play again otherwise it resets your achievements and you'll have to re-earn them again.

It's a short game and I understand that very well as it was designed by one person. However, I didn't find the chapters very compelling nor thought-provoking. Maybe, I just don't understand the message that well. But because of its lack of depth, I just kind of skated on by the levels not really understanding the levels too well. I think more work could go into particularly, hiding varying message around the room that builds more upon the atmosphere. It's not that I don't understand anxiety or…

Not bad, but not worth playing either. It's impressive that this was created by someone so young, but that's about the only thing that impressed me. The game itself was uninteresting, and its supposed insight into the anxious mind was lacking.

A very interesting little first person narrative game about mental health struggles. Not overly long either, and priced accordingly. Small technical jank: controls felt just a tiny little bit off (and in Xbox version you couldn't invert Y axis in-game). Also in Steam version achivements can get revoked apparently. (I don't know why that is even a thing.) But it's a small, solo dev game, so I won't expect the game to be perfect. It's great for what it is!

I really appreciate the amount of context on the store page for this game. Explaining the background of the developer, the award she won, and the message she is trying to convey helps frame this experience. The game itself is exactly what it says it is. A short, interactive artistic experience. There isn't much here as far as actual gameplay goes. I wish the developer great success moving forward. 6/10.

Fractured Minds is a simplistic and shallow low poly "more art than game" first person adventure intended to fix all the problems in the mental healthcare world by making a trashy art-not-game "indie" experience, so I'm glad to report mental health problems no longer exist, except for all the psychologists around the world who are now out of a job thanks to this. Ugh. Trying to address social issues through the medium of video games is misguided and can be harmful. While it's plausible to…

A good game which conveys a message. Though VERY short (I had to replay the game twice to get all achievements, the first playthrough took around 20 minutes), it has a good ambiance and an incredible soundtrack. Worth it if you enjoy games with a deeper meaning and want to support young developers with a cause. Good for achievement hunters.

I appreciate the messaging with the game however the gameplay just isn't there at all. The 'puzzles' are not obvious however easy due to it being the only potential thing to do. For what the game offers deffo should have been free, also a bit more of a minor issue but the game took AGES to load chapters I feel like most of my playtime was in loading screens.

Fractured Minds isn't a game that's made to make you feel comfortable or make you enjoy it. I think that as a piece of art, I can understand the intent and emotion behind it, however, with all the games out there about mental illness, depression, and anxiety, I don't feel like this game does the best job at capturing what that feels like while also having something to say. 3/10

The fact that the developers have the nerve to charge money for this game at all is a joke. It has the content of a free game demo and that's being generous. My first run of the game took just 15 minutes. Then when I closed the game and realized I missed 2 achievements I booted the game back up to get them and found out the achievements reset every time you restart the game. Ok, I'll just go through the game again and get them all. That run took 20 minutes, 5 of which were spent waiting in a…

I am not going to give something a positive review based on "one person development", or "this supports mental health awareness." I'm all for indie games and mental health awareness. But this game is terrible. If I hadn't received it in a bundle would have refunded my money. This looks like a unity game. I have no issue with unity games if they're good. But so many unity publishers create stuff like this and throw it on Steam. The worst part is, if it has a stigmatic theme, it's ultimately…

Completed this in 15 minutes. With how short this game is, it's not worth the money. Playing it, it felt like it was trying to touch on deeper topics through the environment, but never actually did anything with it. It tries to tell you something about the main character. What that is, however, I don't think the game communicates it well.

I only got the game in order to get the achievements and B.) because 80% of the proceeds are going directly to Emily and charity otherwise I would give it a negative. 'Fractured Minds' to say the least isn't "thought provoking," it isn't "immersive," and it most certainly isn't "uncomfortable." This is a really short game with a few achievements. It takes about 20 minutes to complete the whole game. Visually the game is stunning. The art style has so much details to it and makes you want to explore every part of every area. The music and sound effects are really nice and relaxing. As good as I find the developer's intention to include the topic of anxiety disorders / mental illnesses in a game, the implementation in this game annoys me. Biggest sticking point, next to the achievements that sometimes didn't work, were the controls for me, which felt incredibly spongy and imprecise. And the keyboard layout couldn't be changed! Mental health literacy is really important to me, and I think a game like this has its place as an educational tool. I truly appreciate the message that Emily wanted to impart onto the player, although it admittedly isn't particularly strong. I think expanding on the themes and having more for the player to reflect about in each level would have made for a stronger message overall, rather than the extremely short vignettes and inner monologues. Very short but really good game / experience. Level 4 part 2 (Or was it 5?), with the water and the platforms and jumping to the door was a bit difficult.. The way the running jump keeps your momentum and doesn't slow you down as you move forward through the air, a dampening effect, would have been helpful. The movement on the ground was a bit weirder than I am use to as well, it had a sort of ice skating effect where your character continues to slide a little after you let go of the keys.…

★★★★☆ Fractured Minds is a short but powerful journey through anxiety and other mental health struggles. The movement feels a bit floaty almost like you're not fully in control, fitting considering how mental health can make you feel like you're being dragged through life without choosing the direction. Chapter 4 stood out the most for me. It captures social anxiety pretty accurately. Everyone around you is glued to their phones while you’re stuck trying to figure out who you can "bother."…

Started so good and ended so predictable. I get what the game is trying to say, but the message at the end is so cliche. The game is coming from a good place and a good heart but the twist just isn´t one. The music is great, the Art is nice and the rest is meh at best. Got this for free when I bought another game. I can see the vision of the story line. Simple and nice, I somewhat feel relatable to it. But one thing is the acheivement, reset not matter how much I replay it. Bother some when someone wanna collect achievement for the sake of it. Puzzel were confusing, maybe I generally suck it.
