Online Co-op is only possible via Remote Play. You can only use one player on the keyboard, The other players need to use controllers. I wish they could implement online play natively. Nonetheless It's a fun game with lots of levels, but a hassle to play online only via Remote Play.

Being a big fan of the Overcooked franchise (at least until the shenanigans with the latest title happened) I am always looking for similar games to play with my wife, and thereby of course we meanwhile have tried out a lot of those working-together-like local coops, be it Moving Out or Think of the Children or whatever. But I have to say, Tools Up actually is the first title that manages to really scratch that itch somehow. Sure, it’s got less variation in the levels (after all there are only…

Generally speaking, this is a nice little game which is fun for a few hours if you can get it in sale. But only for a few because it's quit short and rather easy. The biggest drawbacks though are frustrating bugs and object collision detection, you will run into situations where you can not put stuff on the ground even if there is enough space, frustrating. Even more frustrating is that the game does not count the number of objects which need to get tidied away at the end of levels every other…

I usually hate these time based co-op challenges that are all just about putting pressure on the players, to me it gets stale so quickly. My wife on the other hand likes them a lot, so I am forced to play some of them. You play as these two workers who have to renovate houses. It mostly consists of painting walls and changing the floors in the preselected rooms. I like that it is easy to complete the levels when you have good teamwork and that speed and accuracy isnt the end all. This is by…

If you are looking to introduce the very basics of casual gaming to someone, this is the game. For experienced players I would say skip. It has it's charm but it is far too easy and simple. Each level so far hasn't felt much different from the previous one. Also using the controller is alright except the pick up button is also the deposit button which can cause issues if there is the slightest bit of lag (like when using the bucket to clean up). Over all it just needs more though I haven't…

TLDR I can't recommend you waste money & time on this isometric "chore-em-up" game. (I've now come up with the term "chore-em-up".) Obviously if you already own it (ie from Humble sub) and it looks interesting, take a spin and see for yourself. While I enjoy "Viscera Cleaup Detail", "Moving Out", and "Out of Space" (the latter 2 are more like this title) this game fails to grab me, or bring something new & fun, and has control design problems. The Gameplay You place down floor covering in…

Awful. I get it is meant to be co-op, but if a game claims to have a single player mode then it needs to deliver one. In single player you will not be able to finish most of the levels properly in timed mode (and untimed is pointless). Would be such a simple thing to scale the time based on player numbers but the devs are too lazy to bother. Add to that collision detection is poor, plenty of times the keypresses fail to register, a blueprint design which wastes your time while you look at…

I absolutely LOVE this game. This game surprised me with how fun it was and it is one of the best local multiplayer games that I've ever played. The characters are adorable and the music is sooo soothing. Throwing your friends is also pretty fun, try it. Besides, this game tests your team spirit as you will need to work as a team to get things done. 10/10 perfecto

I'm taking a break from Metroid Prime 4 to play the delightful Lil Gator Game. Played most of it on gamepass before it was pulled, can't wait to get the DLC. Also playing Tools Up with my kid since she loves Overcooked and Moving Out. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Bought this game for myself and my cousin. But the game isn't very multiplayer friendly. You have to use steam remote play with the host, and the second player has to join with a controller, and they can't use a keyboard and mouse. Because you have to use steam remote play, my cousin could hardly play with how laggy it is. I hope the developers make this game more multiplayer friendly in the future, because I do really like the idea of this game. I also find this game to not be very PC…

The co-op nature of Tools Up! and the cheery, colourful, cartoonish graphics give the game a fun atmosphere. The simple controls and gameplay add to this, allowing Tools Up! to be played by gamers of all ages and abilities. The game can be played with both a controller or a keyboard. Each works equally well, so it is simply a matter of choosing which suits the player more. The different levels – thirty in all – provide for enough variation to keep the game enjoyable throughout. This game's highs are highs, but the lows are pretty darn low. Good: Overall, the game's fun, reasonably varied, and has plenty of levels. Weird, but sure: The DLCs add up to more levels than the base game does (45 vs 30), so maybe buy the two together. Less Good: The game has this consistency of allowing you to do something before it'll explain how to undo that. For example, you can knock down a door in the tutorial and you'll have to figure out that you need to take the door and put…

Tools Up! is a 1-4 local co-op casual game where you need to paint walls, tear off wallpaper, and move couches against the clock, basically Overcooked! but house renovation-related. Even though I did not like many things, I am still recommending it because this genre of games is not very common in the market, and it has some fun into it. Pros: - Good amount of content: 30 levels (base) + 45 (DLC) - Quite easy in the base game and quite challenging in the DLC - Fun gameplay and graphic design…

A concise review of Tools Up! Cleaning up old homes. Tear that wallpaper. Oh no! You spilled the paint can. ---------- Tools Up! is certainly an interesting co-op game with big Overcooked vibes. Tools Up is a fun little game where you decorate houses for people. You put up wallpaper, paint walls, lay carpets, lay tiles, knock down or build walls, tidy messes, and all to order within a time limit. It's good, clean fun suitable for children and adults alike. But stay away from the expansion. I finished the campaign missions, and went on to the Garden missions. Within a few levels, there was a raccoon stealing items and throwing them in the swimming pool surrounding the garden.…

A fun and short coop experience but be careful, the controls can be a bit imprecise. My first tentative playing this game in couch coop with three other persons not really into gaming was a failure, because they just could not get the hang of it, and honestly at 4 players I think it becomes a bit of a mess. After that I played it with steam remote online with a more seasoned friend and it went great.

A great casual game to play with your significant other. I played with mine and had a lot of fun as she is new to gaming. If you're looking for intense game this is not your pick though. All levels are easy to beat and doesn't really require you to do perfect/clean run to get all 3 stars. I pretty much carry the entire game as my significant other is still getting used with the controls.

This game is currently in the Humble Choice for October 2021. If you are interested in the game and it's before November 2nd, 2021, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle. A couch co-op renovation game. In Tools Up you’ll have to rush through a house, complete major renovations, mostly wallpapering and flooring in just minutes, and then clean up after yourself. This game isn't too bad on its own, but once put in parallel of overcooked, it's definitely not as fun. Everything feels slow, only one task really requires 2 players to cooperate, most of the time you'll just divide the work, the "check the plan" feature could be fun if it wasn't just faster to learn the plan and never check it again after a restart, getting 3 stars is a piece of cake. It doesn't stand the comparison to the fast and chaotic overcooked. If you're looking for a fun coop…

This is an amazing game for local co-op - I’ve played it with four friends and it runs great. It’s fun, chaotic, and surprisingly addicting. Every time we say “just one more level,” we end up playing for hours. There’s only online multiplayer through Remote Play, which is a bit of a downside since it can get laggy depending on everyone’s connection. As a player who loves the Overcooked franchise, it's awesome to see other gaming developers put their own spin on the formula. I like to call it, "Chaotic Co-op", but enough of the preamble, let's talk tools. The story is quite simple. You are a renovation company called Tools Up. You and your crew arrive at a large apartment complex and your job is to make all the renovations given to you on each apartment's blueprint. This game is up to 4 players and is entirely co-op. This is a good fast paced, teamwork based, race against the clock game! Every "level" has a timer on it from about 3-10 minutes on it. The way you go to new levels and climb the building is a really neat aspect of the game! There are different themes for every floor or two, so there are new challenges and thematic elements to keep it from feeling repetitive. If you liked Overcooked, you gotta try this! It is a very similar play style with a different theme!
