56 of 56 · most liked firstTarget Audience: SHMUP Veterans wanting something a little bit different and Score Chasers Summary: Flying Red Barrel is sorta that SHMUP that stands out despite not having one feature that really blows you away in any way: thanks to a unique scoring system that focuses on a secondary weapon that racks up combo multipliers. Granted, that knowledge wasn't something that the game directly taught me until I talked to the dev, then noticed the Demo videos that play before hitting start.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game and think it's criminally underrated. The idea of a Shoot 'em up game with multiple endings is a really unique concept that I have only seen from this game. The dialogue and it's diferent variants is really good as well, and the endings are really heartwarming. The gameplay can be a bit ruthless if this is your first time on the genre, but the game is kind enough to give you endings if you manage to clear it within 3 continues, so give it a try! If you are a fan of 100% Orange…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun STG title with an unconventional bomb mechanic that encourages you to spend and chain them rather than save for a screen clear. By all intents and purposes, your rockets are your primary fire and the machinegun is for when you run out of rockets or to clean up lingering bits of health off enemy vehicles. If the entire screen becomes a shower of coins (which you pick up to replenish your rockets) you know you're doing things right. The game has a lot of story deviations based upon your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I now feel incredibly dumb for not realising that all the characters in this game, and those that feature in 100% OJ, are named after alcoholic drinks. As for the game itself, it's a surprising great vertical shmup where the focus is on constantly using your limited rockets to combo kills which create coins based on the multiplier, that in-turn refill your rockets when collected. Basically, using your rockets as much as possible and reverting back to the machine gun to finish things off is the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i just got this game so I can get the bomber marc in orange juice
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome gameplay! Simple, but effective. Shmups are the most pure form of gaming for me :) Would be nice to have an option to rewatch the multiple endings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah yes, the adventures of Marc have finally made its way to steam. If you know who Marc is, you probably (almost certainly really) know her from the 100% Orange Juice and 200% Mixed Juice games. She stars as the protagonist of this shmup along with a sundry assortment of characters you might recognize if you have played the aforementioned titles. So this game is a shmup. You move around, shoot at ships and you have a rocket that can be refilled from shooting down foes and collecting coins. If…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bought this so i can be a plane in OJ which is much more important than whatever this game is kiwi
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't really know anything about shoot-em-ups but I thought this was pretty damn good. Definitely a hard curve for someone new to the genre, but the unique missile-score-chain mechanic and cute presentation kept me playing for the 5 hours it took me to get my first win. It's short, sure, but fairly challenging and there's a crazy emphasis on replayability, since there's so many story paths, even if they're fairly similiar.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun Arcade Shoot Them Up game from Orange_Juice. Using the game main mechanic which is "Rocket" that is capable to take out multiple enemies while also increase score multiplier and that score multiplier also increase the amount of rocket charge and score that can be obtained by collecting gold coin upon defeat an enemy. There are many ways for you to utilize the rocket mechanic. For an example, you can use rocket blast radius to defend yourself from an enemy attack which can be…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really happy that Fruitbat decided to put this on steam. For those who can play it and know the lore in the whole FRB universe. It's worth trying it if you like bullet hell games and are up for a challenge.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this a bunch before it came to Steam. I've never won, because I'm terrible at this genre, but it's one of my favorite shmups. You have 2 buttons, gun and rocket. Hitting enemies with rockets increases your multiplier. Killing enemies drops coins, and more coins if you have a higher multiplier. Picking up coins refills your supply of rockets. The essential result is that the more aggressively you fire rockets and collect coins, the more rockets you get to fire, dramatically…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great bullet hell by the same people who made 100% Orange Juice. Its much harder than their other bullet hells, but the gameplay is very fun. The artwork is unique as well, and has a cool style to it. The multiple routes you can take also increase replayability.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This games music and theme is adorable and epic. The theme of a little biplane dropping down everything while everyone chats and taunts is a good style. The game will punish you for one small mistake but simple to get into and great overall.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We're up! Red barrel
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gahhh, I thought this game would be a nice and easy introduction to the genre but NOPE. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I still recommend it but not to casual scrubs like me. It lured me in with its storybook artstyle and different story routes and kicked me in the nards with its difficulty.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sherry = 0/10 Otherwise, peak OJ shmup.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marc is a pretty sexy aviator... ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game reminds me in a sense of Psyviriar in that if the player doesnt play for score and /or doesn't know the mechanisms the game uses to chase score then the game will just appear bland and boring. The game, if you like chasing score, is brilliant , addictive fun. Asd others have said the game doesn't show a new player how the mechanisms work so watch a playthru on YT if you're interested.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what it is about this game compared to any other OJ game, but I absolutely love this one. It's a fun game that is really easy to just boot up when I'm bored and play for an hour or two. It is definitely a challenging game, but when you understand the mechanics, it's fun to try and master it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Flying Red Barrel is a unique shmup that is both amazing and severly crippled. ***The Good*** - Cute art style - Good music - Neat setting and sounds - Cool bosses ***The Bad*** - The scoring system is obscure. They don't tell you too much about it. - The controls feel weird. The slow is almost too slow while the fast is lightning fast. - You can't shoot while moving fast without mashing fire, instead of holding it. So, that means to fire you have to keep mashing fire while moving. -Because…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like STG with many story paths then you sholuld try it, however it IS deceptively hard which may also be a plus.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You get Pilot Marc in 100% Orange Juice for owning this. A fair shmup, no optical shenanigans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →there is Marc, who is all i live for these days
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i will be honest this game is unfair as hell i liked sora that is more challeging that this but no inf continues, no bombs that destroy all map and no infinite continues so you have to redo all is a big trade off for a game that is a bullet hell. i could take it in normal mode but really on easy being like that i will say dont buy this trash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →O hi Marc! Finaly this game is on Steam. It's a fun little BulletHell game from Fruitbat. Not as good as QP neither inventive as Sora or Suguri, but still fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun, replayable and challenging, one of the best bullethells out there
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →shoot rocket enemies go boom get coin shoot more rocket sometimes shoot gun this game makes my hands hurt and sometimes I wanna scream very good game please buy it and play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →quite hard, but very charming and fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't like it. No auto-fire (If I use turbo on a controller sometimes slowdown doesn't work). I personally have problems with bullet visibility. There are no bombs or any other defensive options so if you get cornered you just forced to take a hit and you only have three lives, and for some reason this game have dialog in the middle of the gameplay. Characters talk to each other while there are bullets on screen which is very distracting and playing with dialog enabled feels terrible. You can…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cute little game with nice cel shading In FRB, you play as a rookie pilot named Marc, a country girl who drives in her "Red Barrel", a tiny plane with virtually no protection from attacks aside from dual MG's/5 capacity rocket holders Music is pretty good, of note is boss 3, superboss, final boss, and boss4, among much much others Gameplay is quite good as well, you use WASD, alongside 2 other keys to shoot and fire missiles/charge missiles, you build up combos with rockets, score makes you…
