This week, on the Game Narrative Kaleidoscope - @iamleyeti.bsky.social (Night Call, Flat Eye) calls for silence: how do encourage players to hold back, and let the other characters do the talking? Find out - if you'll only listen! - here: www.inklestudios.com/kaleidoscope...

Three years ago, FLAT EYE was released. It's one of most complex games I worked on and while it was underwhelming for… reasons, it had one in-game ad I loved working on with the team. The ad showed Prometheus and "his" eagle happily using a neutron energy pump. (don't mind the placeholder text)

Today's is Flat Eye birthday! 1 year already, felt like the game was released yesterday... And it feels like it's a good time to say some things about it. Not going to be a super fun thread, but a bit cathartic. (long thread inc)

Game Dev Quote post I'm Anthony. Since 2009 I've been writing for games. My first release came out in 2019 with NIGHT CALL and since then I've been coming up with a lot of words for FLAT EYE, HARMONY: FALL OF REVERIE, DORDOGNE, and more. I've started in 2021 a narrative agency called actezéro.

Been thinking about Flat Eye again recently after rediscovering its wonderfully ambient soundtrack, and cor, more people should have played that game! A speculative management sim from the devs behind Night Call, I mean, what's not to like? store.steampowered.com/app/1358840/...

Ha. I appreciate that. I did the concepts for 'Game of Thrones: Tale of Crows' and also 'Flat Eye', if they were of interest.

Flat Eye is unfortunately not a good game. It was too ambitious, too confused, too big for us. We kinda nailed it at the end I think, but had only time to polish the first 3 hours of gameplay. After that, it crumbles down in a long grindy boring experience (meta but still)

Hey! I'm Laurent [loʁɑ̃]. I used to be a programmer on AAA games for many years before starting my own indie video game company MONKEY MOON (HarshQuad, Night Call, Flat Eye...). I enjoy trying and discovering new stuff. But most of all I love sharing wisdom to players and developers about how […]
