60 of 108 · most liked firstFirst: thanks for making the series come back to life. I'm a huge fan of Fear Effect. Sedna is a good game. It has the essence of both FE1 and FE2 very well. Graphics are very good with the cel shading aspect like the previous games. Combat gameplay is much better than the demo version now. Great puzzles just like before. Listening to some classic and familiar soundtracks included in the game just give me the chills, nostalgia hits me hard! Also the game has a very good length. I finished it in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game. I really, REALLY wanted to like this game, because I loved the original Fear Effect games... But I can't; I just can't like this game. The voice acting is terrible, the writing is bad and the gameplay is absolutely AWFUL. Shootouts are a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ where your cover means nothing since all th enemies just rush your position and simply walk past your cover to cap you in the face. There are also special abilities that each of the characters have; but finding…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually backed this game and I regre it. It turned to be a cheaply made game that if it didn't have Fear Effect in the title would go unnoticed. I gave it a chance and was really hoping this would lead to Fear Effect being rebooted since it was a great series. At this point, I have no confidence in the developer to handle even the remaster they are working on. The game looks nice. The style is great and that's about all that the game has going for it. The combat is just terrible. It…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It really does feel like a Fear Effect game. Combat is passable at best, just like the originals. "Animated" (via post-processing) 2D backgrounds, just like the originals. Main strength is atmosphere and worldbuilding, just like the originals. Instant deaths and a cheesy game over screen that you will likely see a lot, just like the originals. Art style is very much like the originals too. Plot and visuals are dark and supernatural, just like the originals. It felt like playing just another…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An hour into the game you will run into an impossible puzzle thats not exactly a puzzle but a relex test. Unless you have the reflexes of a 15 year old or a much older and wiser jedi, you will be stuck there and it will be the end of the game. I got this game expecting puzzles to test my brain. what i got was arcade hell from 1985.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent several hours with this game, trying to find the reason to recommend it. But, unfortunately, the complete lack of quality and polish in most areas resulted in the worst experience I had in my recent gaming memory. I don't know where to begin. Maybe from the gameplay? It is supposed to be a tactical shooter, but it failed on all aspects of that genre. AI is nonexistant and sneaking is as rudimentary as it gets. It's very hard to avoid being seen and when you are spotted, which is very…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I definitely don't agree with people being gay, I think it's a sin, so I choose to love the person and not agree with the action, what a concept right? I saw the preview and knew going in there would be some of that but they really focus on it, the constant barrage of little gay inferences is just over the top. Wild and wooly lol I mean what she's got a bushy vagina or hairy armpits either way I really don't wanna know or care, that's just one of the lines in this stomach churning journey…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boy this is a tough one. This review really highlights the problem with Steam's binary review system. Fear Effect: Sedna, is not a bad game, but it's also not a very good game. I've always enjoyed the Fear Effect games (all two of them). Their unique style really popped on the Playstation. The series has always been a bit of a "by the numbers" style survival horror, albeit with less emphasis on the latter. The stories were always over the top, and the gameplay never really rose above…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →expected soemthing similar to other isometric games, instead had some messy arcade like shooter that takes no startegy because the enemy will just walk right to you and shoot. Took 10minutes and refunded the junk how embarrasing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a shocking game - one of the few games ripe for immediate uninstall. Pros: Graphics, setting, cut-scenes thoughtful Solid atmosphere and music Cons: Puzzles are not intuitive and break gameplay Gameplay is terrible (Half the stuff doesn't even work or is useless) Voice acting is second to all Story non-existent 2.6 hours? Well, that's my tap out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I played the original Fear Effect on Playstation 1, I was thrilled every minute because of the cinematic approach to the fixed camera angles and the items I had to find to progress the game. It was simple but did the job pretty well. It kept me entertained from start to finish, that's my point. However and unfortunately, this game is trying to be like the PS1 games but fails miserably... The voice acting sounds professional on the surface, but it is monotone as hell. The visual design…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Considering all the budget constraints, the game is pretty faithful to the original concepts. As far as I can tell, the main point of criticism is usually some parts (or it as the whole) of the gameplay. The gameplay is varried, though the combat/stealth part is nothing to write home about. Of course its not a tactical thing like Commando or X-Com, like the initial glimpses of info could've suggested - so I guess I can understand dissapointemnt of some people coming from there. The action…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kickstarter backer. very disappointed with this game. With only 90 minutes "play" time How can I deliver a verdict? Continue reading on please. I spent 10 minutes fighting with controls and struggling with the non existent interface, remaining 80 minutes was on idle. * Horrible controls, from late 1990's. * No mouse support in the game. You can't even point and click to steer your character to a position. * No native support for Xbox controller, controller icons are PS4 only. * Launched the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's... not bad. It's not good, sadly, and nowhere near the return Fear Effect deserved, but it's more bland than anything. Bland, yet functional combat, bland story, some nice puzzles sharing a place with some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ones, some nice cutscenes mixed with bad sound design and voicework... Still, some fans of Fear Effect will have a relatively nice time with it. I did. Other fans won't - and there are a lot of possible reasons why. As for non-fans... there is nothing for them here. So yeah, it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good art style and graphics good feel to the world and characters writing is ok, better if you are a Fear Effect fan, but is otherwise very cheesy plot, as far as I got, seems interesting puzzles are interesting BUT, the gameplay... the gameplay itself is absolute worthless garbage trash it feels janky and horrible, none of your abilities are clear in what they do, and combat itself is basically "click enemy and hope they die before you do"; its honestly so simple, and so horribly botched I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's, uh, bad. Combat is terrible, voice acting is so bad it's actually funny, dialogue is written by highschooler, and story lost me on 2nd mission. Puzzles seemed fine, if you're a puzzle person, which I'm not.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Being a fan of Fear Effect 2, then seeing Fear Effect Inferno lose traction I was very hopeful for Sedna. Lets start positive. Sedna manages to retain the Fear Effect vibe through the recognisable unique art style, story, interesting puzzles and classic animated death scenes. The isometric view isn't bad but it a big departure from the fixed camera angle of the previous game, which has removed a little of the "Fear" Unfortunately the downsides are that the stealth is almost optional and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the Fear Effect series. They're a very rare mixture of survival horror and oriental mythology, especially the first game(the best). The second has its moments, though it doesn't quite have the same vibe as the original. Sedna doesn't manage to surpass either one of them. The visuals are super faithful, but the writing feels like it could be for any series, and has none of the Fear Effect DNA. It pains me that the original writer was supposedly involved, because the story felt cookie…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liking what I've played so far! The game really shines through with its puzzles and the cutscenes there in when one fails LOL! Love seeing all the characters back and in their element. Only thing I can say that some people might be off put by is the decision for the next fear effect game to be made in isometric, turn based(optional), gameplay instead of the more RE/Dino Crisis look of its predecassors. For me however, so long as the game itself plays well is what truly matters in the end.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I kickstarted this game. After falling a year behind deadline, I assumed this would be a finished product. Not only is it a bad game with poor writing, but it lacks polish and is full of bugs. What a waste of a property. Shame on the developers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →garbage. with all the technologies you have right now, how is it possible you make it worse than the original games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I kickstarted this game because it looked interesting and I never heard of the fear effect series. I also was intrigued with the isometric style when I first saw it there. Thought perhaps they could make it into an interesting fun gameplay mechanic and I enjoyed games like shadowrun which used this perspective. Sadly though, the game fell extremely short of my expectations and there was just so much lacking from what I thought would be good. I heard great things about the previous games in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm sorry to say this, but this is one of the times I regret backing a project that showed some promise in the beginning. Pros: - Sound track is quite good. - Cut scene graphics quite good. Cons: - Cheesy dialogues (with unnecessary and unnatural delays between characters). Veeery disappointing! - Messed up keybindings (I like to set it up the way I like, and thus using the arrow keys for movement messes up the usage of the mouse cursor). I could not find a way to find out how the tactical…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think so buddy. I failed the opening Puzzle Tutorial three times. This reminds me too much of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter on Nintendo 64. I bought this because I respect Data from the Star-Ship Enterprise, and how his actor would feel with a, 'New Millennium PS2.' Otherwise, the art went downhill, because you aren't fully maniopulating our polygons, you should have used similar polygons to original, with more rendering fog, but also Punctuation, 'snap,'s in the backdrop. This was the first…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most frustrating game I ever Played. I forced my self to finish this game. Bory Storing Horrible game! Make yourself a favor, buy shadowrun instead of this...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game not working!!! I got stuck in the first mission because of a puzzle not working properly. Absolutely DO NOT BUY!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - The animated cutscenes are pretty (but have lip sync issues) - The soundtrack is decent Cons: - everything else!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this POS. Baby's first isometric stealth shooter. Doesn't get remotely difficult until the second to last boss fight, and then becomes baby's first video game again. Story just hammers through like they were pressed for time. Endings ALL suck, good or bad. Characters barely resemble their original versions. Sexuality (the thing that made the game groundbreaking for it's time) is absolutely absent. Dialogue is terrible. Voice acting is terrible. ♥♥♥♥ Fear Effect Sedna. This game is an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a big fan of the original games, I refused to believe this game was as bad as the reviews say, but...WOW The original games (especially the first one) are cult classics, this mobile game (it is a mobile game) is like spitting in their name...and about the story, didnt see much, but the lesbian stuff written by a horny 14 years old was too much, even in 2001, the relationshipt between Hana and Rain in Fear Effect 2 was considered immature, but this...I mean, seriously, this game was…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It might not be what old Fear Effect fans were expecting, but it is really fun and action-packed game. The mixture of puzzles and action is what makes it very enjoyable to play. There are some flaws (the AI is not always working properly + some puzzles might be frustrating) and it might take some time to fully understand the mechanics but it is totally worth it, trust me!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its as bad as the reviews say. Doesn't deserve it's name.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ugh. Okay, this game looked promising. I've played past Fear Effect games for the PS1 in the past, and I loved them. Story wise? Non-issue thus far. A top down adventure? Cool. This game however is nearly unplayable without fixing keybindings, and unfortunately once you've changed them it doesn't entirely TELL you what to use. For example I could not remember half of the things. This game also has half-done controller support. It cannot understand my controller which is a logitech f310…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really did not enjoy this as much as the first two games in the series. The combat didn't feel that fun to me at all. It kind of reminded me of a mobile game just ported to pc. I also really hated how every time you collected more than 2 medkits it didn't matter cause once you started the next level they were gone. And as for the story...It felt kinda of weak compared to the first two games. However that's not to say everything is bad i mean the character aren't to badly designed. There…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I read all of the reviews for this before I bought it. I should have listened, but my love for this series - and my excitement at seeing a new entry in it - clouded my judgement. If you're a fan of the first two Fear Effects on PS1 do yourself a favor and replay them. FE Sedna is an isometric stealth shooter. I would elaborate further, but the core game play mechanics don't work very well. Stealth? Nope. Tactics? Nope. An engaging story to even the experience out? Nope. Enemy AI just rushes…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This will either be your favorite guilty pleasure "so bad it's good" game or an infuriating mess you will throw into the abyss. Either way, good luck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →CAN BE BOUGHT! Well it is an very hard game with hard puzzles and even harder fights, what is the most fun part of the game. To sad the devs make this part very anoying by clicking through 3 screens only to reload the autosave. Besides that the game is nice, but its kinda short, for a small price its OK if you like this kind of games and want some challenge.

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

Blew myself up a couple of times which brings you back to the main menu where you have to choose your saved loading point instead of doing it automatically. Uninstalled the game. Went to the bathroom to take a s h ! t And started another game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to love this game. I am a huge fan of the original two games, and I backed up this on Kickstarter as soon as it was announced. Early images showed a lot of promise but I started getting worried as soon as a workable alpha was given to the people that backed the game (at least on some tiers). The game didn't really know what it wanted to be. Did it want to be an isometric action shooter? A tactical real time strategy like Commandos? A turned based game like Jagged Alliance? The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No wonder this game is on sale for so cheap! I played 3hrs and it's glitchy has heck! Please explain to me how I loaded the game from my save point in Paris to starting over in Hong Kong? This game should also not have lagging cut scenes. If you took up the mantle from Eidos and wanted to reintroduce this game to a new generation of players, than you should be more responsible from development to game play. I'm saddened that this title from the early days of playstation has succumbed to being…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looked to be OK with some comic-like art, it is OK i guess, (lunar sale 1/10 the $) but I think this was designed with a console controller in mind. Movement is nyeuh using a keyboard. recommended only if you have some sort of twin-stick controller on PC. I decided quickly to move on to a more robust character management game such as Dungeon Siege 1. (which I also purchased during a holiday sale, like a dollar. just go play this instead.)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't remember when was the first time I ever heard about Fear Effect series. I accidentally read their mentioning on one forum and then saw their description on Wikipedia. I managed to play them both a few years ago, and I really loved them! It's hard to believe those games were made in early 00s with such unique technology. And I also like their different puzzles that you have to solve in order to proceed further in game's story. Anyway, I was quite surprised when I saw announcement of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's alright. It's not awful. It's not as good as it could have been either, but hey. They made an alright Fear Effect sequel in 2018. What a crazy time to be playing videogames. I hadn't realized how much I'd missed Fear Effect, so it was really nice to see these characters again. Bad thing first: The combat? Not great. The tactical pause is pretty fiddly and you end up resorting on simply kiting enemies into ambushes you've set up by placing your other characters behind cover, but that's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fear Effect: Sedna mixes beautiful visuals, campy spy flick aesthetics, and some truly terrible gameplay to create a game which would have been better off a movie. You control one of several characters at a time as you use your soft aim lock, dodge roll, and cover system to defeat foes. Though FE feels as though it wants to be an action game, shoehorned strategy elements weaken its core gameplay while creating other infuriating gameplay issues.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a Kickstarter backer, I had high hopes, but there are just too many issues with it to recommend it: The good: + audio is great + animations are good for an isometric game The average: = sound design is acceptable, using sounds familiar in other games = load times are okay = decent variety in enemies Bad: - unless you play in 1920x1080, some of the puzzles will not work (rythm puzzle in mission 3 for example is unplayable in 2k or 4k) - voice acting is terrible. Dinklebot terrible - the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to love this game. I really really did. The second I heard it was coming to Steam I had the date in my diary, eager to play it. I didn't even mind the game style had changed from the original two games; it was Fear Effect, and that made me happy. Unfortunately it's a game riddled with issues. I've onlyplayed for 4 hours and already the flaws are glaringly obvious. The isometric viewpoint is fixed, which wouldn't be an issue so much if the level design was clear, meaning half the time…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, just not good. The combat is terrible, stealth is pretty meh, and the puzzles don't make much sense, or at least I can't think in the bizarre way developers where hoping for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat controls are too clunky. Most combat just results in all the enemy swarming you. Combat really kills this. Otherwise it would be a decent game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't do it!! The idea is decent. a detective game with puzzle mechanics is not that bad of an idea. But it is so insanely slow paced that i can't even get trough the bartender level. If movement speed was 2x faster, i might not have gotten bored with it this fast.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a long time fan of the series I got a shot at the new incarnation in Fear Effect franchise. The game is different from their predecessors, this time it is an isometric adventure/shooter. The graphics is quite good, the game succeeded in taking the original style and improved it to the new age of gaming. Sound is in pair with graphics with nice sountrack and good sound effects. Overall I recommend to give it a try, not only for fans of original Fear Effect, but the younger audience too.
