51 of 51 · most liked firstNordic Warriors is obviously intended as a spiritual successor to Myth: The Fallen Lords and its sequel, a wildly unique series of real time strategy (or real time tactics, as they were sometimes dubbed) games from the 90s that I absolutely loved back in the day. There’s really been nothing like them before or since. Until Nordic Warriors, that is. This style of games lacks the economic gameplay you see in most RTS titles. Instead, you’re simply given a small number of units and an objective.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have purchased Nordic Warriors. My own review is as follows. For 20 years I have been lamenting that there was no myth style game in the market. Now one has arrived. As an ardent fan of the myth series I eagerly played a few missions of Nordic Warriors. The good points- 1 It plays a lot like myth, even the controls are similar. The challenge is similar. The positioning of archers and Warriors is similar. 2 The graphics are reasonably good, not stellar quality like Divinity Original Sin-2…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I initially had low expectations for this game being a close competitor to the old classic game of Myth II: Soulblighter I was pleasantly surprised to find the same basic gameplay with new tactics and strategy. I expect to make a further review after I have completed the game. I highly suggest you purchase this to help the developers continue to produce great content and continue producing other game modes for such an amazing Realtime Tactics game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll start by saying, if you played and enjoyed any of the Myth series (Myth: The Fallen Lords, Myth 2: Soulblighter, or Myth III: The Wolf Age), you will enjoy this game. It very much feels like a spiritual successor to those games, and for me that scratches an itch that has been there for a VERY long time. If you aren't familiar with those games, this is a Real-Time Tactics game set in a dark fantasy world. It is single player only, and you start each level with a handful of units (usually…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just as you can never go home, you also can never go back to 90's gameplay. I've been wanting a Myth remake for a long time but having it in my hand, it needed the XCOM treatment - updated gameplay - not the Xenonauts treatment, i.e. the recreated gameplay we have here. To be fair to the devs, I looked up gameplay videos of old favorites Myth 1 &2, and all it did was spoil the memory. Nordic Warriors feels like the lamentable Myth 3 : Wolf Age did - the Bungie-cord has snapped. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, I really appreciate what they're trying to do here. I was a huge fan of Myth back in the day, and have often lamented that it's odd sub-genre of RTS never took off. So I was really stoked when I discovered this, and bought it immediately! This tries very hard to hew EXTREMELY close to Myth. Maybe a bit too much so? So my list of pros and cons pretty much boils down to "how is this better or worse than Myth". Pros: - Myth with modern graphics. - Reasonable modern camera controls. Myth's…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is just an excerpt, the complete review is posted over at [url=https://saveorquit.com/2020/06/28/review-nordic-warriors/]Save or Quit Before Bungie became a household name with the release of Halo, they create a real time tactics game called Myth: The Fallen Lords. It was a bloody game about small bands of warriors who went up against hordes of undead, and most importantly, it had bomb throwing dwarfs that turned said undead into tiny little gory pieces (and also your own troops, if you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In Nordic Warriors you fight your way agains zombie hordes and some other monsters. In your army you have a warrior, archer, magician and a guy who likes to play with explosives. There is a lot of blood and body parts in the game which you can see in this little gameplay movie: https://youtu.be/aJsufkE83mc
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such an nostalgia bomb for those of us old timers that loved the Myth series of games, and if you DID love those games, then this will scratch that itch that has gone unaddressed for oh, so long. If it wasn't meant to be an homage to them, I'd be rather stunned. For that, I give it two gigantic thumbs up! Now for the "BUT". BUT...if you didn't love those games or never played them, I can kind of see this being a let-down/disappointment if you're expecting a modern gaming experience.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent reminder of what great games Myth 1 &2 were :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wish I could give it a thumbs up and a thumbs down. Still allot of clunkiness and feels like its in a beta stage rather than a full release. Fun but just be prepared for wonky pathing and lots of scum saving. Very unforgiving, even on easier difficulties one misclick and youll have to reload just to get through the rest of the level. But it has allot of potential, however it may take another year or two to realize it due to its small developer cast.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nordic Warriors draws heavily on Myth games developed by Bungie back in the mid- to late-90s. The developer (a 2-person team!) of Nordic Warriors even stated that they were tired of waiting for more games like Myth to be released, so they set out to build their own. If you loved Myth, I feel you'll also love Nordic Warriors, but this is no Myth clone. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of similarities to Bungie's series, but enough unique ideas that Nordic Warriors can stand alone. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bunch of old timey gamers decided they wanted to play Myth The Fallen Lords again. AND THEN THEY WROTE IT!! The nostalgia is STRONG. They've got the alchemists (Oh those molotov throwing dwarves!), the archers (Slightly more useful now than in the old days, though every now and again they shoot their compatriots and go "Whoops!"), the warriors (I still wouldn't charge anything more than 2 enemy soulless, err, archers unless you like hearing your units die) A well polished, physicsy,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who played Myth 2 and Myth 3 years ago(But unfortunately missed playing the first game), I'm still waiting with great anticipation for those games to be either remastered or adapted for modern platforms in order to be able to play them once again. In all the years since Myth 3 came out, there has not been a release of any RTS game that comes close to replicating the unique style of that trilogy. Until Nordic Warriors, that is. I came across this game completely by accident while…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No. Abysmal writing and terrible attempt at Myth recreation. It lacks a believable atmosphere, pleasing art style or a decent voice acting. Seems like voice actors believed that overdoing everything could make dialogue interesting, considering the writing is amateur level. That is all they had to work with I suppose. Had to drop it 20 min, as I could not stand the game. Endless waves spawning in out of nowhere, primitive challenge, irritating controls... My suggestions is to simply avoid…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice RTS game, jumped in for a bit. Look forward to the multiplayer update!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When they say this game is a spiritual successor to the Myth games they are NOT lying. 1/10, last 9 points hinged entirely on being able to piss off the tutorial narrator.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the ♥♥♥♥ out of the old Myth games, even the non-canonical Wolf Age one. This is sorta kinda like that... Initial impressions are mixed and I will update further when I play more. So far: Game narrator (a concept directly from Myth) does a good job and has a great voice. Problem is that the text he is reading is not written all that well. As an example The dual usage of "friends" in the 1st mission opening text is out of place. Takes you right out of the atmosphere. I hope this isn’t a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderful love-letter to the Myth series. Real Time Tactics (RTT) games are few and far between, and rarely done right. These devs get it. The Myth games are hard to get working on today's computers, and it's really nice that Nordic Warriors is here to scratch that itch. It's such a faithful homage to the beloved games that somebody should really give them the IP and have them remake Myth TFL + Soulblighter. Everyone should try this genre, and there's no better example.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like others have said, if you enjoyed Myth you'll find familiar trappings here. I haven't gotten far enough to comment on the plot but the strategic elements are there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →crashes constantly, cant play for more than a minute. cant seem to submit a ticket through steam as its not their product. messaged the developers but have yet to see an update fixing this. pc specs are above and beyond requirements.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old school tactics game in the vein of Myth the Fallen Lords and so far the single player campaign has been pretty fun and the soundtrack is also well done. It has a nice variety units across the board for the good guys and the bad. The maps are nice but a lot off unused space, really just there for the player to hunt down bad guys and get a higher kill count which does give you're units exp. Some do have unique features but it would have been nice to see more. They do have a road map for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game came out as a complete surprise to me but a very pleasant one. As others have said, this is very much like Myth TFl and Myth 2, from gameplay to type of units. If you liked Myth, then this is more of that and should be what you want. If you were curious about Myth but the old graphics were a turn off, then now's your chance to experience some of what that game offered.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Myth you'll love this. Highly recommended. Really enjoying :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nordic Warriors, developed by Liron Peer and Roman Levin (Coldsteel48) and published by Mashmashu Studio, is an indie real-time tactical RPG that combines Scandinavian mythology with a bleak fantasy setting. The game opens with a tragedy that immediately establishes its tone: a group of warriors returns home only to discover that their village has been consumed by death and chaos. This event becomes the catalyst for an adventure that spans dangerous territories filled with undead creatures,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really great game reminds me of my time playing myth. used to be a bug on level 7 but I think its fixed now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There have been a few games like it over the years, such as Nordic Warriors, but they're few and far between. There's management between missions but Last Train Home is also a story-driven real-time tactics game without building.
unlabelledView post →How I longed for this game, a supposed faithful remake of a game to which I devoted many, many hours - to be good. However, it is objectively worse than the original from 30 fuc king YEARS ago! The graphics are worse (if you can believe it!), the gameplay is clunkier, and enemies appear in formation out of fuc king nowhere! Seriously, in the original there was an ebb, flow, logic and rationality to how and why enemies entered into the frame...and I believed they were an army of undead! In…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you liked the first 2 myth games from back in the day, you will love this. Plays exactly how I remember myth playing. Hard as nails, lots of save scumming but satisfying.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow!! I can't believe I found a spiritual successor to the acclaimed Myth : TFL. Go get this gem!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a fan of the old Myth franchise, I was super excited to see a game built in the same RTT genre. Nordic Warriors didn't disappoint. While being it's own game, it has a wonderful throwback feel to the old Myth series. The maps are beautiful and functional, the units are well balanced, and the story is engaging. I highly recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tl;dr if you like Myth 1, 2 or even 3 (I did, just not as much) then you will like this game. It has that old school RTT seat of your pants play style that doesn’t have you harvesting resources (there are farming sims, this is a fighting sim). While it isn’t as story-rich as the Myth series, the art style and storytelling serve to move you along an arc that serves the thing that made Myth great: the gameplay. And the gameplay is pretty damn fun and diverse. You start the game with a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I came looking for Myth. I got what I wanted.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Game overall is a nice little throwback to the Myth series. I do not think it's as good. It's lacking in story, lore, and the overwhelming dread and helplessness that oozed out of the Myth series. Nordic Warriors feels a bit too cliched. There was no special destined hero in Myth except Connacht but he was part of a large circle of light and darkness, not "the chosen one" as Freja is in this one. Combat feels a bit floaty... wish there was some physics engine behind all the guts, arrows,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game, it's mad this isn't better known. The developers certainly make no secret of their love of Myth and even though I haven't played those games in over 20 years, the nostalgia is strong with this one. Playing through on 2nd hardest difficulty it will take you about 10-11 hours to play through. Challenging but not impossible, especially if you turn the speed down. In later missions, speed control is beyond essential to get through. The scenarios are varied, the enemies are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is great on its own, and even better if you love the throwback to classic Myth games. That said, it crashes A LOT - so make sure to save often.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did it. Ha, ha. Hey, guys! I did it! *Looks behind to see trail of corpses.* Alchemist: Whoops! ****! Anyhow, this here is a great tribute to Myth The Fallen Lords without sacrificing the more updated looks. Sure, I won't argue with some who may say Myth is better, but this comes close enough. Without further ado, i leave some guides for those looking to get into the game. 1. If your melee units are doing their job frequently, then your playing this game wrong. Range and AOE is the main…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun game, it feels like Myth also got the feeling of Warcraft 3 lvl that didn't have the unit building. I love the Myth games and this is the closest thing to it in the last 20 years. I really hope they add multi. btw anyone can still get the 3 myth games from the abandonware sites. I started playing Myth 2 again and yes, this game is fun but nothing beats Myth. Keep up the good work devs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Will this game every get multiplayer support? Coop support? Any updates? Who knows? I would recommend this game if you were a fan of Myth or Myth II back in the old Bungie days, but otherwise, there's not much here to dig into unfortunately.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cannot rebind the game hotkeys. It reverts back to the default ones after restarting the game. Game has promise but the inability to rebind the hotkeys demands a refund from me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, for those who remember Myth [Remember to take your meds, by the way], this is the closest we will ever get to reliving the glory. Below are just some of the correlations I've seen. Short guys who throw bombs [Originally dwarves throwing molotov cocktails] Said bombs not always exploding on impact. Werewolves [Originally myrkridia] Spell Animations [This games' fetch not only have similar attacks, but use an attack that looks like the Deceiver's] Level design [Though let's be honest, it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished this game recently. A great successor to the classic Myth series! Nice variety in the missions. For those who have played the old Myth series, the graphics are a huge upgrade. It took a little time to get used to the controls scheme, but very smooth once I had it down. Ran with no problems on my 2017 iMac Retina 4k (3.6 GHz i7 & Radeon Pro 560). Thanks to the developers for all their work on this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For anybody who loves the Bungie's 'Myth' game series then this is one definitely to add to your library. But however a few things need to be considered. Pros: Myth-like game experience with many things in common needless to say awesome gameplay. Cons: Glitches everywhere, an example of this is not only all that you will find others complaining about in the reviews section but in addition whenever you try to quit the game it never allows you. Instead it simply freezes. So if you want…
