It is a sequel to Fallout (1997), featuring similar graphics and game mechanics. With Black Isle and BioWare at the helm, Interplay would deliver two of my favourite CRPG experiences. Baldur's Gate especially has a special place in my heart. 💜 📺: Dragon Magazine, October 1998
unlabelledView post →Like, there's a visceral 'realness' to the version of Fallout 2 that played out in my head that is completely absent in the Bethesda Fallouts because things are simply rendered in a way that feels more like a tabletop game map than a literal world meant to be taken verbatim.
unlabelledView post →interestingly, Fallout 2 was also the first game to allow same-sex marriage, beating out the Sims by two years and the Netherlands by a year

unlabelledView post →Fallout reference in Mixtape, I went full Leo pointing at the screen when I saw this! The game is set late 90s, but Fallout 2 came out 98 so I'll allow it 😆
unlabelledView post →The NCR is an imperial power dead set on recreating the mistakes of the Old World. However, it is also something that Ceaser's Legion is not: A stable nation state that can *change.* This is more communicated by seeing the game as it exists in conversation with Fallout 2, but it's there!
unlabelledView post →The "evil route" in this game is like if Fallout 2 allowed you join the Enclave, subdue all the cities & factions, then decide if you serve the President or kill him and take his place. It's so fun! Again, really wish more people played & discussed these games... they do so many interesting things.

What a heccin gift!! 🥰 Fallout 2 unfortunately had a few tech issues - but at least we still made progress in game and I still had fun with everybody❤️ Thank you all so much for hanging with me tonight!

unlabelledView post →Like it's especially infuriating because both Fallout 2 and Fallout New Vegas took at least a neutral ending from the game before and made it canon. The Fallout show seems committed to making the most evil nihilistic playthrough of FNV canon. And it *sucks.* Cause I sure didn't choose that.
unlabelledView post →Fallout 2 was released only one year after the first game, though that didn't stop it from being a major improvement in many ways. More focus on allies, some substantial rebalancing, a more in-depth story and in general just more content - it's about 4 or 5 times as large as the original game.
unlabelledView post →I want to play a cool video game that's 1: Sorta like Fallout. 2: Has significant building and farm sim parts 3: Romancing, even a touch naughty. 4: Creatives never forced to crunch 5: Creatives share in success & revenue 6: Creatives encouraged into smaller "pet projects" until next big release.

unlabelledView post →The pitch started out because I went "I would like to make an RPG that surpasses Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and Fallout 2, but it needs to actually feel good as hell to play" and we made a world and narrative and some game design shit that's... gonna do WEIRD shit to your brain. :)
unlabelledView post →erika and I have finished season 1 of Fallout 1, and we're onto Fallout 2 and I love how the opening of episode 2 is like, "Okay, video game players are already sad and mad about what happened to the NCR, but we need to make sure that the TV show watchers feel it too"
unlabelledView post →if you, like me, enjoyed Fallout 1/2 and wish they'd've made more of those (New Vegas is very good but it is a very different game!): check out Fallout: Sonora, built on the Fallout 2 engine the latest build uses an open source implementation of FO2, you don't even need the original to play!
unlabelledView post →Bethesda should let another studio make a isometrical Fallout game, if not just let them remake Fallout 2. I'd fore sure play a modern take on classic Fallout.

unlabelledView post →"He said the team believed they were following the structure of earlier entries in the series, where completing the story concluded the game." how the fuck can Bethesda be so ignorant of Fallout 2 when Fallout 3 is all "hey, remember all this stuff from Fallout 2 that makes zero sense over here?"
unlabelledView post →To the best of my personal knowledge, Fallout 2 was the first game that let you choose to have a gay or lesbian marriage.
unlabelledView post →Another backloggd video game thing I can't stop lol Extremely hard to pick for 1998; feel like RE2, Fallout 2, and Half-Life and more should be here but just goes to show what an insanely stacked year that was.
unlabelledView post →Good news! Fallout 1 works on my linux what what however, I forgot that 99% of the time I play Fallout 1, I'm actually playing Fallout 1 in 2, where Fallout 1's game is played in the Fallout 2 engine, and I forgot how many genuine improvements F2's engine has

unlabelledView post →Fallout 2 is an extremely good game but also oof ow ouch the early game difficulty curve is rough. OTOH starting as a gal with a spear in a world of SMGs does make you feel awesome once you can finally survive one (1) random encounter without hearing the dulcet tones of the game over narration.
unlabelledView post →Every time you interact with an object in Fallout 2 (like a door), you're guy does the little 67 gesture. Prophetic game.
unlabelledView post →one of the best parts about beating Fallout 2 is that the game keeps running after the credits play, so you can go to New Reno and get the Fallout 2 Hint Book from Father Tully and then pull out your YK42B Pulse Rifle and render everyone in the casinos into ash

unlabelledView post →TBF I’d forgive any of Fallout 2’s flaws because it was the only game I knew of that had a side quest that was built around sucking dick (well fluffing but still). Much like with Arsenal and the rainbow laces campaign I’m a sucker for queer adjacent stuff from my teens & 20’s.
