Still, the arcade versions of games are always far more difficult, as they attempt to get people to pump in more quarters. Arcade emulators typically have a button mapped to simulate adding more quarters. This does not. Once you lose your lives, you are done. Also, the load times between screens in the menu selection areas are really long for what this softtware is.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Double Dragon Trilogy on the Game Boy I put countless hours into DDII on the NES when I was a kid, but I might have played these portable versions just as much on car trips to visit family members or on vacation.

Check out Double Dragon I, II, III, IV & Neon gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azx1UT1lcN8 Gamers will be given the choice to play the game in the old style or the upgraded version with better graphics and sound. Pros: -3 amazing games running perfectly -updated hud for the first 2 games -achievements -co-op and online multiplayer -story mode where you can start from any level you stopped at Cons: -you get a small amount of credits to use in double dragon 3 without a button that adds a few more -only NA version of the 3rd game -no access to the title screen -stage start screens in double dragon 3 are instantly skipped for some reason -time and score fonts for some reason doesn’t…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How can you sell a game that doesn't work? It's a rip off. When we try to play multiplayer it's not synced. His screen is different than mine. He is fighting enemies while I see him hit in the air on my screen. Fix this game or don't sell it and refund. It's unacceptable. Would be against laws in my country to sell a product where basic functions are not there as promised.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing Double Dragon since it debuted in arcades, and I guess nostalgia gives it a much higher spot in my list of games than it deserves, given it wasn't really a GREAT game, just an above average one. But out of all the versions of the games I've played, from arcade to console to PC, these are the absolute WORST versions I've touched. The controls aren't super responsive, the collision detection seems slightly off and the scrolling isn't very smooth. Just, honestly, look into the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have no nostalgic feelings for Double Dragon 1-3, there's no reason to get this trilogy, as the original games are inferior compared to more recent entries, and the port offered here plays even worse. It's awful.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abysmal ports. + I like the remixed music. - Crappy U.I. - Tons of cut content, half of levels are missing. - The levels we got are downgraded in design. - Tons of glitches, games are broken. - Cutscenes are broken, sometimes they don't play at all, sometimes they run 5x speed... 3/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In double dragon 3, you CANNOT play as any other character than the Lee Brothers. In the original arcades, you could play as additional characters purchasable via the in stage store (different per level), or choose then at the start (♥♥♥ version). This has neither, is VERY jumpy on any system, and plays poorly. 1 and 2 are OK, but better emulated elsewhere.. Don't buy this! Oh, and the developers won't answer emails or any form of communication about this game, tried for over a year, But…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I respect the effort to make an accessible, modern version of these games, this may be the single worst way to experience the arcade versions of Double Dragon. From the painful delays in any menu transition to the unnecessary restrictions on continues to the absolutely bizarre music remixes, it's just not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Garbage, not how I remembered them. They are arcade games, why limit the number of continues.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't waste your money. Nothing like the original DD from the 90s.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I suggest playing these on Nintendo or an emulator. These versions are horrible. The only upside is that it has built in multiplayer support.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a true fan of beat 'em ups, then I am sure you also know about the twins Billy and Jimmy. The Double Dragon Trilogy is basically a museum of 80s "tough guy" tropes and quarters-spending mechanics that haven't aged a day (for better or worse) and it is my favorites of all time among many of the same genre. >The Vibe: You play as Billy and Jimmy, two brothers who clearly share the same barber and a burning desire to punch everyone in the city because someone punched Marian in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game does not work at all, do not buy it for any reason. The only way to get this to run is by disabling windows defender AND your antivirus.... don't do that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🛢️ The release has already been criticized enough; it's truly flawed, full of bugs, and has incredibly slow menus. Let's talk about the games themselves, because these are literally some of the worst games you can find among cult classics, technically. Each game doesn't improve festures of the previous one, but rather breaks them, adding even more flaws. They're short, clunky, and designed to squeeze out coins. Bad hitboxes, no balance, and can only be completed with abuses. Calling the third…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unbearably bad port. Laggy, unresponsive and all-round frustrating to play. There are even grammatical errors in the achievements... These games deserved better, and I usually expect that from Dotemu releases.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dot.Emu shows they're trademark ineptitude with this release. You'd think emulation a trio of games from the 1980s would be a fairly simple task, but nah. Everything is poorly optimized here. Then there's the laughably slapdash interface. Save yourself a few buck and play these through MAME instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is shockingly awful. I'm stunned that this is an official Dotemu release as it plays like one of those Sonic fan games people would make in Flash. It's plagued by some truly alarming lag and slowdown in the game and even in the menus. Not even worth getting for pennies when it's on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →terrible, broken emulation, removed content (I don't care if the games are not great but I expected good emulation at least!) avoid at ALL COSTS! (yes, even at 1 EUR this is NOT a good deal!)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is NOT what I thought it would be. I figured it'd be a port of the original games to the pc, and it kinda is, but what a very LOUSY port at best. I'm glad in paid less than $7.50CAN for it, cause I don't think it's even worth that. Controls and such are super clunky, and it just makes for a crappy game session. I got it for nostalgic reasons, I as I played all 3 games while growing up, and these are NOT true ports. They are very shoddy and not true to the originals. Avoid unless…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This release is just... broken. The menu UI is broken (and bad besides), the in-game UI is remade for the release and does not mesh well with the more original graphics of the actual games. At least once everything is configured, the game itself feels decent. You're better off getting a different (probably non-DotEmu) release of the games or finding a way to license the arcade ROMs from current owner Arc System Works and using either MAME or Final Burn Neo.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No continue + free play whatever you want to call it is just to much of a deal breaker for the rough emulation and control's.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Used to play this game at the arcades and amusement parks in the 80's and playing them again on my PC is like reliving my childhood.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A poor port of a trilogy that is famous for popularizing the beat-em-up genre. I played the Double Dragon trilogy on the NES, which were awesome games (though III is insanely difficult, and playing it as an adult, I couldn’t believe that I was able to make it to the final boss of that game as a kid without cheating). I always wanted to try the arcade versions because I never really ran into them and wondered what they were actually like. When I saw this, I got really excited because I love…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth for the original Double Dragon, DD2 & DD3 are totally crap. Get it on a 90%+ discount and you'll be fine.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who grew up playing Double Dragon on NES but completely unaware there were other versions outside of that context, I have to say I'm happy to see the original(?) game, but Jesus Christ did it age poorly. I'm going to be honest, these games suck. I think the Switch has DD 1 and 2 on the NES emulator, which was a fun throwback to my kindergarten years, but the horrid animations and lacking movesets make this far more difficult for all the wrong reasons. That said, DD3 had me in tears…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No local player is poop. Stop being poop.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cool game for co-op in Remote Play, but very difficult.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →stutter, collision detection on hits is heavily slanted in favor of ai, port is missing level intermission transitions
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst port I've ever played. Somehow they managed to have less content, worse music, and uglier graphics than the original NES. An accomplishment in its own right, I suppose.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The original arcade trilogy of this two-fisted, beat' em up bonanza -- which, in time, made its way to the consoles & ruined friendships when players realized they could kick their buddy in the face!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible, terrible, terrible ports. Runs like ♥♥♥♥. Buggy. The games just don't feel right. I bought this to support the franchise I love, but this is bad and I'll just keep playing the ROMs I've had for years, which run so much better than this. Was it even play-tested before release?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IF YOU LIKE THE ARCADE VERSIONS OF THESE GAMES AND WANT TO OWN THEM, GET THIS. The controls are bad the first DD is the best one, because it controls better, however the jump kick requires speedrunner's timing, which I don't have the patience for. Why didn't we get the nes ports too? And Master system, And Megadrive/Genesis versions? The way publishers treat these old games is baffling to say the least, 'lets make our own emulator, even though there are emulators that are bound to have done it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to love playing this game as a kid on the arcade. This game is fine other than it won't let you continue once you lose all your lives making the first one nearly impossible as it's almost a given you're going to lose all of your lives on the last level making the game much less enjoyable. I wouldn't recommend this game for that reason.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get the MAME and play the arcade for free...It's not worth it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love DD and I really wanted this to be fun but the resolution keeps changing back every time I open it, I can't get it to fit the screen properly and it just doesn't load up right every game as well. This seems to be a consistent problem with the game as the developers wanted me to go in the files and change things around to make it work, but I don't want to cause it should be fixed as this issues has been asked about a lot on the forums. Fix the game maybe I'll re-buy it but right now I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really bad port its speed up and enemies have ♥♥♥♥ hit boxes
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely bad implementation. Nothing like the original. Also it does not store your settings anywhere, so you will have to reconfigure every time. There are very long lag spikes especially in the menus. What the hell devs?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really glad this costs me $2.89 with taxes. I just finished telling a friend, how I was impressed with Arc System works has done with double dragon and Kunio Kun and then; I play this. You want me to be honest: It's lazy. Clearly, they've used an emulator, stuck a title screen on it and said: Bend over customers. It is a direct port of all three arcade games--which is alright for the first two: the double dragon I & II arcade games were always challenging and yes, you have limited…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Save your money. This is a terrible port.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →⭐⭐ I can't recommend this collection unless you're a hardcore fan of the beat 'em up genre on a quest to play them all. If you're not, play Final Fight or Streets of Rage instead, they're better games and both can (or could) be found here on Steam too.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ui is broken as hell but games run fine for the most part. dont pay full price get it on sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the game in the arcade in 1987 when I was 16. Time flies, but I still love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Double Dragon Trilogy brings together two absolute classics and one big disappointment! The original is just as perfect as it's always been and it's a game I never get tired of playing through. Double Dragon II is more of the same, though its Renegade-style controls take some adjustment. You also have to deal with the farm stage, so you better get some jumping practice in to avoid the dangerous machinery. Double Dragon 3 has its moments, and there are definitely things to like, but overall…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely low quality emulation.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It totally sucks. Everything except the graphics are bad and DD3 fails even harder with the choppiest movements I have seen since the old NES. Only the NES version is smoother. I mean 1 and 2 is good for some cheap time wasting fun but only if you pick this up as part of a package or on steep discount.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I play this game since i was a kid in the arcades and lates on many different versions on home consoles and emulators - This one is the best one as about the gameplay and it also has achivements to unlock etc DD1 and DD2 are TOP CLASS games and besides the old school gamers like myself i also suggest them to the more new era players as well. DD3 sucks .. it always did .. no matter the version .. sadly. At least we will play it to unlock the achievements. Overall : Buy It and have fun :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perhaps it was fun in 80s, but certainly isn't now. Feels like another mediocre and generic beat'em up, except with terrible controls (something feels wrong about them, like a lag?), which is probably trashy port's fault, not the game itself.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's Fun, but I think there's an issue with the game itself. It feels like there's a major resource leak somewhere. I have a newer Gaming Laptop with an Nvidia 4050, and the game lags a little bit on Double Dragon I, on the last level. However, the game is solid other than some minor bugs that need to be addressed. Plays like the originals. Fun, and enjoyable. Nearly beat the first game on my first walkthrough and it felt like the coin-op.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A piece of crap from the past that hasn't stood the test of time. Strange hitboxes for enemies and heroes. If an enemy hits you once, there's a good chance you won't be allowed to escape the stun. Some things should be left in the past.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only play if you feel nostalgic. I can’t recommend it to new players. A 3 game collection, I played all of them. The launcher is bad. You have to wait 10 seconds just to start a game, and longer if you go into settings, and trust me you’ll need to do that. The first 2 games are similar, same backgrounds, enemy designs and attack patterns. It’s hard to tell whether you can hit an enemy, while they can overwhelm you easily. They knock you down and keep attacking while you’re getting back up, it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game works fine to me. I love it. It saved the control configuration and everything. I also like how on Double Dragon II they remixed Mission One to homage the original Phil Collins track Easy Lover that inspired the track. NICE Touch!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great port of the arcade versions.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Justice for Sonny Lee.

unlabelledView post →I grew up playing Double Dragon on NES and didn't experience the arcade versions until I was in my teens. It's weird coming back and playing them now, and I don't think the magic is still there. I still enjoyed it, but I'd only recommend this to fans of the series who have that nostalgia lingering in their minds.
