60 of 187 · most liked firstI haven't played other parts, so I have no sentimental feelings nor knowledge about the series. Doorways: The Underworld is one of the most boring, repetitive and dull games I've approached. It's far from being scary, monsters are walking on set paths (sometimes they magically teleport and reappear - I guess it was developer's only idea how to scare a player). Overall, I had this feeling that I've already played this game and that I was doing my second walkthrough. Nothing could surprise me,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personal Rating: Ragequit Classic Rating: ★★✬☆☆ This is the third Doorways Chapter about another sociopath, Katharina (Doctor). The game is pretty much a copy-paste of the first one (Chapter 1 & 2) about several aspects: gameplay, graphic/visual effects and mechanics. Even if I enjoyed and still enjoy the series so far, I can't recommend "The Underworld". As I said in my review for the [url=http://store.steampowered.com/recommended/recommendgame/248470]beginning of the series, these games are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Direct continuation of the previous chapters, The Underworld is basically what they cut down from the original release to sell separately, causing some uproar in the userbase. Anyway, as a stand-alone it's clearly much longer and fleshed out than the first two chapters. This one alone takes roughly 2-3 hours to clear. Where the first two chapters had a gothic/medieval feel to them, this one is more like a modern horror tale, with a crazy doctor and twisted abominations included. Nothing that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doorways: The Underworld is an indie horror game and it starts where Doorways: Chapter 1 & 2 has ended. As Thomas Foster you have to use some vague psychic powers to track down some psychopaths. In Underworld your task is to find the psychopath Dr. Katharina Stein. She has supposedly been running gruesome experiments and it is now your job to find her and do something about it. The gameplay consists of avoiding the lurking dangers and solving small puzzles. It takes something around 3 hours to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most boring and annoying games I've played! In the first one there was really great atmosphere Amnesia style and dark but beautiful leels, here we got mazes of the same textures. Level architecture? Neverheard about it. Only the Hospital level looks ok (or maybe it's just shorter). As for the puzzles - here is how it works: "Here is the the puzzle. Like it? Good, cause we got an other same one, but a bit harder. Now go to the next part of the level (that looks compleetly the same…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Picking up where its predecessor left off, Doorways: The Underworld unleashes the third chapter a story that revolves around tracking down four psychopaths and bringing them to justice. You are once again Thomas Foster, an agent of the Doorways company that specializes in these matters. This time you have been sent on a mission where two agents previous to you have failed; to bring The Surgeon to justice. Just like The Professor and The Sculptor before her, she is a nasty piece of work that has…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The whole game is going around at escaping from some monsters in dark tunnel/labyrinth systems. I think developers got run out of ideas especially at the last part of the game because they have you pull a lever in a damn labyrinth while escaping a monster for 6-7 times. Boring as hell game if you ask me. Overall rating is positive because most of the people on steam don't really bother to finish a game. Prelude is more enjoyable and scary actually.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve played the previous two chapters of the Doorways series and they were good, but not great. This third chapter boasts a higher budget and a better understanding of horror making this the best chapter to date. For a budget horror game, this isn’t bad at all. I was genuinely scared while playing it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In Doorways: The Underworld, you play as a paranormal investigator in a first person perspective on a case where two previous investigators have gone missing. Its a dark game with scarce lighting and I think I know why your predecessors went missing; neither one brought a gun for a flashlight, because you have neither. That's only because you or your agency have the ability to jump into the mind and body of a killer and switch places. That's just what the game tells you with a heavy tone, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good horror game with some cool puzzels and a sick atmosphere. The graphics are good and so is the gameplay. I recommend this game for all horror fans out there.

You see it a lot in indie horror, games that nail the look or the feel or the story but fall apart in the execution or details. Doorways: The Underworld nails a few particularly important aspects of horror, and then stumbles and face-plants on all the rest. It’s enough to give me hope that Saibot Studios will eventually produce a great horror game, but this one definitely isn’t it. Doorways: The Underworld is the middle…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A survival horror title, played in our leadup to Halloween, the game has you explore various weird, creepy regions to find a psychopath in a first person exploration vein. The game's sound design and atmosphere make for a truly eerie experience. Then you get found by the monster of the day. And have to hide. And run. Definitely run. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=329379126
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Oh, my God! What...what is this place?! WHAT IS THIS PLACE?!?" Think that's a tad melodramatic? Well, if you're gonna buy this game, you'd best get used to it. In Doorways: The Underworld you play the single most hysteria-prone supernatural-investigator-of-evil-people's-minds that you will ever meet. Even after being chased down narrow, bendy, all-but-completely-dark tunnels by ♥♥♥♥♥♥-up dudes who look like they just stepped out of a Clive Barker novel, he's still prone to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qct9nvz-xD0 Doorways, the Underworld claims to be an adventure horror game. It is split into two parts; Puzzles, which I found more to be of a scavenger quests that send you in endless repetitive loops, and the horror element, which is completely lacking in its ability to invoke psychological scariness. It is more like a simulation of a coal miner than a horror game. If you are a child, or make it a point to avoid horror games, number one; why are you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doorways: The Underworld is really far from being a horror game. It's short yet boring and looks like a walking simulator. Puzzles were too simple and repetitive (2 type of puzzles just increasing in size as you advance) 3/10 Overall rating with the gfx being the most positive thing in the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is good, but certainly not splendid. It's kind of similar to a slightly inferior version of Outlast. You play the "prey" instead of the "predator" as you are chased by monsters through creepy environments. The concept behind the game is fine, and it has some good music as well as significant visuals. The main issue is that it's extremely simplistic. The character you play really doesn't have many choices to make. There's either "the right way or the wrong way." The main…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is more of a general recommendation for the doorways games. i'd say it's best to get the complete trilogy and not just one game. the underworld is the second of the doorways games and while it works well enough on its own there is little point in buying and playing just the game in the middle without the proper beginning and conclusion of the series. as usual this is a horror themed walking simulator with puzzles. compared to the first game the levels are bigger and so are the puzzles.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Underworld is better than Prelude. I recommend this if you can get this discounted and want to play all chapters. This is short too and not too much content. Not waste of time though. Moving to Chapter 4 aka Holy Mountains of Flesh after this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh what a gem! I'm so glad I stumbled upon the Doorways series because horror is pretty dull nowadays. And hey, the devs turned up the brightness for all of you 'complaining people'! This chapter was a lot more frustrating than Prelude (in a good way!) and Queen of Sorrow made my life a living hell. Completed with 100% achievement progress though :)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I somewhat enjoyed the challenges, though at times I felt it was a little repetitious. What got my blood pressure up was the fact that I cannot finish the game. The last level--the maze- I understood what I had to do. It was doing it--the last part just got me so frustrated I just decided it wasen't worth the aggravation. When I am given seconds to attempt to run from one spot to another with some stupid map that either blocks your view or you cannot read because it is out of view…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth the 5 bucks! Game is way too linear and your choices in Boss encounters is way too limited and hard to figure out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doorways: The Underworld, is the third chapter of what can only be called a psychological thriller, by Saibot Studios. This is the kind of game that if you like playing games in the dark, you are going to want to turn a light on. You are a man who can journey into the psyches of others, most of them VERY deranged, and twisted. In this chapter you will be trying to chase down a female doctor who has done unmentionable horrors to her victims. Now of course once you go down this rabbit hole, its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From what I heard original Doorway title was supposed to be recieveing new episodes for free but seeing how tough indies somehow have it, I don't mind too much that they have sold these separately. It's the next part after Prelude. Still with film grain for no good reason, that you can disable. Still horror exploration. Having heard feedback from the Prelude, mostly about how it feels like monster-less walking simulator, devs take an aim, swing their arm aaaaaaand.... miss the mark once again.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game stressful! Is an excellent horror enthusiasts. As an nyctophobia game was very stressful at first, the game kept the element to be pressed very well!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doorways: Chapter 3 - The Underworld is a game that I recommend because: - is a method to banish boredom - is indie & horror - have trading cards - have adventure Enjoy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so to begin with i must say i was surpised how much better this was than the first 2 chapters. there was more danger which caused you to be more cautious the game was simple but satisfying..........until the last boss. i have never had as much of a problem on the last boss of any other game i have ever played. it was bad enough i almost decided to give up and i dont give up on a game from difficulty often cant wait for chapter 4 although part of me is afraid it will be as soul crushingly…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short version: 41% Boring, unimaginative, repetitive, and tedious, Doorways: The Underworld does everything to scare away the few fans of the series. Long version: Whereas the first two chapters of the Doorways series consisted of linear platforming sections with death trap puzzles, the theme in Chapter 3: The Underworld changed significantly. This chapter is divided into four segments: a hospital level and three underground mazes. Although the hospital segment is excellent, it is by far the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Both positive and negative points to this. Loved Doorways 1&2 so obviously got this one. Being someone who is terrified of horror but can't stop playing them it had a few good jump scares in there to get my heart racing. But that was about it. Pro's - Boss type characters that you have to avoid whilst working out puzzles Occasional Jump Scares Atmospheric music / sounds A lot easier to follow than the first two Doorways and more interesting, possibly due to the addition of more boss type…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, Underworld looks better, and not just because of the textures. The overall level design is better, and the world is more populated with items, creating a more authentic space. Not only that, but each room or area appears to serve more of a purpose. There are fewer dead-end places that exist just because, and the game is far more effectively horrifying for it. For God’s sake, there’s even a map at one point. In other words, in terms of how it’s been designed, Underworld is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game took me less than 1 Hour, gg. Not scary. Boring. Short. This game is perfect for -10 years ppl, that havent played "horror"games. And yes, I have played the other chapters.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A continuation of Prelude with again some really twisted visuals. Definitely looking better. Puzzles are about the same: look for items and use them to open doors and such, but there's a new level to it. A sort of parallel reality by using a flashback amulet, looking both back in time and interacting with objects. Plus there are monsters. Monsters that chase you. And while that sounds like a lot of fun (it mostly is), in one particular case (the maze) it can become quite annoying because it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the price it is an OK game. This would be one of those games it would be nice to be able to give a neutral review to. Honestly though it seemed alot less intense then the first game. The first half hour or so is just wandering around a maze like cavern. https://youtu.be/uOn-12NTKMU
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You have got to play this. I have played amnisea, outlast and penumbra blackplague and this game has the same sort of feel. You have no wepon but only your witts and you puzzle solving skills. I played 20 minuets of this game and i was closing my eyes. OH and yes it supports oculus rift.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good horror game. I liked the first two chapters and this one feels like a more polished version, with better visuals, less darkness and more varied puzzles. And again, the checkpoint system is very well-designed. I have just one big complaint - unlike the previous game, this one relies too much on chase scenes. I hate them in most horror games and this is no exception. They break the atmosphere and change the genre from puzzle adventure to frustrating trial&error racing game. And no,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got only Chapters 3 and 4 of Doorways, and have played only the 3rd (The Underworld). I understand it's a low budget horror game released back in 2013. My review takes those facts into consideration. I understand a negative review might offend some fans of the game - it has mostly positive feedback. For those offended - deal with it. Doorways isn't a horrible game by itself. And by horrible I mean Revelations 2012, which is worth buying if only to watch the dancing Mayans on the title screen…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great GamePlay and i finished the game in 3 to 5 hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its creepy allraight, but its a maze game and nothing realy happens. You walk around in tunnels pinking up one thing, and then u must find ure way back, then u must find another thing. I hate mazes :\ especially when everything (tunnels) looks totally alike.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game isn't horrible but don't spend a lot of money on it. I didn't clock up a whole lot of time for a few reasons: 1. Awful hard to be immersive when random segments of walls or crates get replaced with placeholder textures or noise. 2. No real element of why you are doing anything related to what you are doing. The first could be a linux thing, lots of devs are still figuring this out but the second was rather bothersome. You are plunked down into... something, and given a few thin…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: 4/10 After the first two chapters, I'm a bit disapponted: - the atmosphere is less creepier - puzzles are supposed to be harded but in fact I found them just more annoying - the fear from unknown evil is gone, you are just running away from monsters For the 3 first parts of this chapter I would probably give 5/10, but dat maze really made me frustraded and I just wanted to finnish the game. I hope 4th chapter will have more from the previous ones.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sorry about writing a review only after 20 minutes or so of game play. But, is there an option to turn off the James Earl Jones voice on everything? It actually cripples the entire horror experience and the lack of motive plus story does that plenty already. But then what did I expect for ten bucks?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Weak story, mediocre enviroment, terrible music, no "thrill" of being chased, and no orginial ideas make this game a waste of time and money.

Perhaps, if you're reeally lucky you'll finish the game without getting pissed off or confused. I doubt this will happen. The ending "reward" only really works if tension wasn't ruined by how infuriating game play was. Especially after failing several times, I lost count. Most of the "tension" was baked into the growing,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is easily one of the most unfair and bs games i've ever played. Most of the monsters (except the Fatso the Fatty) have ridicullous unfair mechanics and appear in the most random and bs locations. Maps itself are as bland and uninteresting as it is humanely possible - textures and paths are just like my guts - narrow, dark, all shades of brown and straight. First wheelee amputee is capable of seeing you across all the map, and zooms to you at flash speed, giving you no chance to survive.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll just review all three parts in one go since they're really just one episodic game as obvious not just by the continuing story throughout but by the fact that only the first part has a tutorial in it. One thing you wanna do when you start the first two parts is to go into the options and crank the brightness up to 10, it'll still be extremely dark but at least you'll be able to see the floor during platforming sequences. Prelude: Mostly puzzle and platforming based with a lot of huge,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Doorways: The Underworld" is a continuation of "Doorways: Prelude." The goal of the game is to see yourself through many psychological scares by finding items and hints while collecting notes and relics. If you have played "Doorways: Prelude" and enjoyed it, then expect to enjoy this one as well. You follow the investigation of a neurosurgeon who performs morbid experiments on humans. Half of the setting is claustrophobic and includes expansive disgusting places and alternate reality. It also…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice Premise: Shame about the game This follows directly on from 'Doorways: Prelude', a not unlikeable game with an interesting premise and short run time. They're cheap games in a series that includes 'Doorways:Unholy Mountains of Flesh' and a lot of what's happening in this second installment/third chapter doesn't require you having played the first installment/chapter one & two. ***There are minor spoilers regarding mechanics this game uses, so do not read further if this matters to…

I am an horror fan and collecting so many horror title and i can tell this is a very good game, sequel to the Prototype and Chapter 1 and 2 which i consider also great. Each Doorways title deliver original gameplay elements, so this one does. Walking new paths may be complicated therefore some gamplay solutions may not be apreciated by everyone. However i feel this is a quality serie which every fan of survival horror should beat and this is a quality chapter belonging…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The emotion I felt while playing this was never fear... It was mostly boredom. After an hour of playing, I realized what this game wanted, it wanted to be a cheap version of Evil Within. Cheap in very sense of the word. The areas a simple, ugly and lack any detail or interesting ideas, the AI of all enemies is basically the same and smart isn't the word I would use to describe them. The level design is predictable and main focus was on backracking, key finding and door opening. The story never…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok so I got this game for free from Freedom! They said to leave a review and a video here, so I guess this is low budget game but from the time I played it, it is pretty good, atmosphere is creepy with lights moving and going out when monster is nearby and for this time of game graphics are not bad. But I realy dislike the item thing, it should be so when you come to the thing that your item is needed for it would automatically be used with one click or something, anyway I would rate it 7/10.…
