Honestly, I don't think Disjunction is a good game. To give you a small impression where I'm coming from: I love stealth games and Deus Ex and the old 2D Metal Gear games are some of my favorites. So when I get the option to sneak around, without killing anybody, I will do that. As a stealth game, Disjunction doesn't get, what makes stealth games fun to play. It is one of those "Try to stay out of cone shapes" games, which take a naive approach to the genre. You don't use your wits or…

People need to stop tagging anything that has "XP" or "Talents" as an RPG. This is not an RPG by any reasonable definition. The game bills itself on being able to shoot your way through, which sounded okay to me since I don't normally like stealth. The problem is that your ammo count is limited and the game explicitly goes out of its way via NPC dialogue to not shoot your way through things. Fine, we can do melee - except then enemies start being unable to be knocked out in one melee strike…

Hmm... I don't know if recommended is really what I should place this game under. But it's not bad and it's cheap ! This game is quite weird because the story is very mature, It can also be quite bloody if you go full rampage... The music is awesome and could be described as some kind of dark ambient, the pixel art graphics are fantastic though repetitive. But the gameplay is childish... The game consist of small levels divided in two floors each time with a save point located on each floor…

Review by [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34633003-Gaming-Masterpieces/lists/] Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam. Who needs AAA when indie games can be so good? A thumping soundtrack (and my new subwoofer) is all I need to get my wife crazy (not in a good sense), and this game delivers! With a visual style reminding me of the fantastic Crossing Souls, this game lets you sneak around facilities swarming with guards (humans and robots), going in…

Haven't gotten very far with it yet but having played with the first two characters, that being the Private Investigator and the Boxer, I've had a lot of fun so far! Disjunction not only has an interesting narrative, but the gameplay is very addicting and you'll easily find yourself switching it up from time to time to fit different situations. The combat, whether you go for a stealth approach or a shootout approach, is very fair and doesn't fail to impress. If you're looking for a Cyberpunk…

I'm thoroughly enjoying my experience with Disjunction. You play as three separate characters whose storylines intertwine and run parallel to one another. Despite being advertised as a stealth-RPG, the game gives you a plethora of options to customize your gameplay. You can play non-lethally with melee, lethally with different guns, or use a combination of both. Your choice in lethality affects the dialogue, characters, and endings. The game can also be quite challenging depending on your…

This isn't an RPG, this is a stealth game with simplistic ability trees. Increasing melee damage by 10% after each level does not a good RPG make.

i don't normally write reviews for games, but i had to make an exception. this is an absolute gem of a game. only a couple hours in, and i got completely sucked in. the story is detailed and immersive (i LOVE that you can hover over text to learn more background). every level feels very carefully thought out and put together, and i enjoyed replaying levels to see all the different ways i could beat it. i personally find the sneakier method more reliable, but it was also super fun to go full-on…

I've been waiting pretty eagerly for Disjunction since I heard of the concept and especially since I tried the demo. I'm a big Deus Ex fan and there are a lot of things I miss about the older concepts and design philosophies of the 90s and 2000s. Disjunction really makes an addition to this legacy of stealth-action. So far I have only been ghosting (No combat, full stealth) and I am really happy with the possibility but also challenge of doing that approach, as in Dishonored, or, to a lesser…

A couple weird development decisions really slow this title down when there's reall no need. Also this is a "stealth game" in that sure, you try to stay out of the enemies' vision cones. But that's about it. Many other stealth games do it better. This title left me wanting more.

I don't know... I don't see an incentive to play further. Seems to me like there's nothing beyond the story, but the top-down stealth-shooter gameplay. Which I don't find very compelling... The story seems mature and well-written, but the gameplay seems like something you find on a Nintendo DS/ 3Ds title aimed at a younger audience. Reminds me of TRON: Evolution for the DS, matter of fact...

I've mixed feelings about Disjunction. On the one hand, it's a small project filled with love from its creators. On the other, I constantly felt I could be playing a more engaging game. The elevator pitch: cyberpunk pixel stealth game in New York City, that rotates through a cast of three interesting protagonists: Frank the detective, Joe the boxer, Spider the hacker. THE GOOD -Story: The story is mature and slowly reveals itself as your 3 characters investigate seemingly unconnected plots…

TL;DR: Despite the good promise, story is heavily shoved on your face by walls of text, and stealth mechanics either conflict with gameplay or are questionable at best. If the complaints here don't bother you, you should grab it. Otherwise, steer clear. Also, PROPER GAMEPAD SUPPORT, THANKS! Despite offering a "good narrative with branching paths based on decisions", at front, all that meant was "you can either kill or knock people unconscious". Since Steam forces you to either like the game or…

Fantastic so far. Above all else, the game is responsive and fluid. Simple controls combine with complex environments and branching character specialization options to produce a playground for experimentation. Disjunction implements lethal vs non-lethal approaches to gameplay seen in other stealth-action titles, and executes this paradigm in as brilliant a fashion as any AAA title could muster. I find myself replaying sections of some levels not because I failed, but because I thought of…

Not very interesting. The gameplay is kinda primitive and repetitive. Not a lot going on. The story delivery is done through huge blobs of text across the entire screen (very uncomfortable to read) or just plain multi-page lore pickups. No voice over.

Being sneaky beaky is fun in this game. If you want to make it harder, try a pacifist run or a lethal run. Interestingly both is harder than adapting to the situation, since you restrict yourself to using non-lethal or lethal skills, instead of both. This makes it really well designed in my view.

The pixel art, music and atmosphere are cool, but the story is very slow moving, all told through wordy text boxes and after over 2 hours, hasn't gotten compelling or interesting. Every mission is old school stealth, using the Metal Gear Solid vision cone concept. I don't mind this, but there's no margin for error and even though you can engage in combat if necessary, you characters all go down in a couple of shots and it's clearly not what things were designed around. My Personal Game Score: 6 / 10 + Good game graphics/design + Good game music + Interesting game play + Nice stealth game to play - The stealth mechanics of the game is kinda shallow compared to other stealth games. - Limited in-game checkpoints/savepoints. One wrong mistake could cause you to start all over again. - Personally, the plot is not that rich or deep. - The game is not really that kind of a RPG game. Overall: The game is still good to play

An amazing little gem of a game. It is exactly what it looks like -- a pixel art top-down cyberpunk action, where you choose if you want to go in heavy, or try and use stealth. It's retro in a good sense: a bit hard sometimes, but you get better as you go and become a true master of the game closer to an end. Also it took me 15 hours to beat, which is exactly what I like in the games these days -- no need to invest hundreds of hours -- get in, get fun, get results. Highly recommended!

A lot of cyberpunk attitude, but not much to recommend it. No real choices, no apparent RPG mechanics. Even playing for stealth, mechanics are very twitch-oriented - and the field of view is so limited, and you have no real sniping ability, so as a stealth game it is a loss. Also some lame things like deciding whether to use controller by whether one is connected at startup, no choice in game. From the store page, I expected something much richer. This is very disappointing.

I really like stealth games so Disjunction is a fairly good one. I think if there was a save at any time function, it would be way too easy although there were some times when I felt it was a bit frustrating. The threat escalation is really good. The basic enemies are nothing compared to the enemies towards the end of the game. But gradually, through the upgrades, I never felt entirely overwhelmed. When I died, it was because I rushed. Disjunction demands something of a continuous attention…

Disjunction is a stealth-action game in a cyberpunk setting. Combine Deus Ex and Dishonored together and you get Disjunction. Pixel art is great, it has that retro feeling. Level design is good. Every level offers you different approaches. If you find one path difficult, try the other one it can be easier than the first path. It is a stealth game so memorizing enemy patterns and behaviors is the key here. Once you get caught, you are not defenseless. Every character has a gun and different…

I don't think I've ever finished a game as quickly as I did this one. Not because it wasn't hard enough (be prepared to die a lot) or short, but because I was fully addicted to the game-play. It's super fun and dynamic. You can choose a particular play-style (which can be augmented by various upgrades you obtain), but depending on the situation and resources at hand, you can be forced to fully abandon your play-style and plans. Disjunction, developed by Ape Tribe Games and published by Fireshine Games, is a cyberpunk-themed stealth action RPG set in a dystopian vision of New York City in 2048. Good short and sweet game. It gets pretty easy when you get used to it and get some of the upgrades, but it's worth it for the cool art, music and decent story. Disjunction is a decent top down stealth game which is a very niche genre. There are three characters that you cycle through between missions to keep things a bit fresh. The story is OK, nothing special but not bad. The stealth is the best part of the game but it's not exactly much to write home about. The strange thing I find about the stealth that will ruin it for hardcore stealth fans is you can beat someone up directly behind an enemy but since they don't hear anything, they'll never turn…

The game play is simple and enjoyable, and the story is just kind of there to give you a reason to visit different locations, although I have to admit I skipped through a lot of the dialogue. The story just kind of throws you in and has a lot of names and locations that don't really mean anything, but I don't really think the story is the main focus of the game. The 2048 setting is really cool because it's in the future, but it's close enough to 2021 that elements from real life have an impact on the story.
