60 of 181 · most liked firstAfter playing previous games in the series, and finishing all the Heroes games but still wanting a fix of this sort of game, I ended up getting this on a bundle sale. Started disappointing due to the clunky dialog and lacklustre gameplay, but I continued on if only to keep me visually stimulated whilst listening to audiobooks (the background musics alright, but not for over 50 hours of play). Midway the bugs started kicking in, including (but not limited to) units stacking inside each other,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you can get over that it's not like disciples 2, then you'll probably see that this game is nice. +Atmoshere (can say that's the best thing about the game) +Music +Battle (yes i liked it) +Solid gameplay -Voice acting. Seriously it's the worst voice acting i've ever heard. ever. -Gets repetitve after a while. -Not very good use of map design. Looks great, but gamplay-wise feels kinda empty. I've played worse and even more boring turn based strategy games than this. I wouldn't rate it a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disciples III, is my first introduction to the series, so I have no basis for comparison with previous Disciples games. Disciples III is a turn-based strategy game, utilizing a combination of point and click movement when out of combat, and a turn-based game grid whenever combat is initatied, each featuring varied terrain. You can play as one of three races; The Elven Alliance, The Legion of the Damned, and The Empire. It seems like an interesting game. The visuals are not bad, and there…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Information / Review English Disciples III - Renaissance Steam Special Edition is a fantasy turn-around strategy game developed by Akella, dat. Gameplay / Story Brief info: Disciples means trailer and that's exactly what the third part of the fantasy saga is about. The genre-typical story Every hero tells his story in which he achieves great things. The hero of the damned must of course free his lord and master. The people who believe in a higher being; the elves who worship nature; the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game but it feels so different from Disciples 2 and took a while to get used to. Sadly the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that you couldn't play as the epic dwarves (the mountain clans). That was my favorite race of all time from Disciples 2 and it was basically left out in this game. Don't get me wrong you can still fight the random dwarf groups on the map but you weren't allowed to play as them. And I really wanted to own the enemy with my giants (Son of Ymir's)... but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the game from the entire point of view of the gameplay, and it would still be a great game today. Unfortunately there is a lot of technical issues running this on an up to date system (writing this beginning of 2025).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, I've played the game for some time now and I feel comfortable enough to point out the good and the bad. Frankly, the game -could- have been great, but I dunno whether Kalypso works hard so devs can't deliver a quality product or if the devs they find always skip Quality Assurance. It really feels like they made the game solely for the campaign, anything else was an afterthought. Good - Nice graphics and style. - Big Heroes of Might and Magic feel, upgrading cities, interacting with some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I own both this game and Disciples 2, I'm a bit surprised by all the negative reviews. Let's face it, both games are pretty clunky and unintuitive by today's standards. They do things a bit differently from each other but share most of the core mechanics and the unique dark fantasy aestethics that are the series main claims to fame. If you like Disciples 2 but haven't tried the third installment yet, I really think you should give it a try, play the tutorial, maybe pop into the campaign, keep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game, I thought that I might like it but it has exceeded my expectations because the bad reviews really had me debating about if it was worth a try.. I bought if for $3.00 on sale and I have 11 hours in already when I'm writing this. I'm sure that I'll put many more hours into it as I try to finish the 3 campaigns and I already feel that I got my moneys worth from it.There are so many negative reviews that I felt that I had to give my opinion on this one. It's not the best of it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is unplayable, and I want to play it so much. The game crashes after I complete the first level and I cannot get past the first level.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved Disciples 1 and 2 but this game feels slow, sluggish, and unenjoyable even for a turn based RPG. I would suggest grabbing Disciples 2 or 1 over this. Unfortunate, really, as I had such fond memories of the previous games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very sad that this game ended as failure. Company and devs had financial and other problems they left this game unfinished. Disciples II is a masterpiece and has a place in my heart beside HOMAM 3. Disciples III Renaissance is playable but up to the point when you realize how many things this game is missing compared to Disciples II. Wish some fan group patched this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Make sure you get the Reincarnation rather than Renaissance because it is this game massively updated. I don't think they should be selling this version anymore.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PROS: The game is quite fun. Its super long, so you will get your money's worth. The Graphics, Audio, Style of Game Play and the amount of Races within the game are all above average. CONS: Graphics and Audio could have been much better. It's not bad but not the best either. The Fight Scenes could have been a lot better in terms of showing off the beauty of each characters graphical ability and such. The game is quite buggy unfortunately and it does seem as though the company rushed it. Not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game Type: Hex-based Tactical RPG. Summary: Awesome visuals are outweighed by stale story, poor mechanics, and lots of bugs. Pros: The artwork and models for the time WERE TO DIE FOR. I mean absolutely gorgeous. Clearly where they blew their budget. Neutrals: Setting: Fairly run of the mill set up. Elves live in the woods, shoot bows, love trees; humans are dirty peasants, noble knights, and a corrupt totally not Catholic Church; lastly demons are super evil and nasty. Gameplay: Kinda bland…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a RPG lover this game will surely enjoy you. But, be warned, the more you advance the more lags and even total log off the game happen. So save after each battle.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game crashes after every second turn. It get's super annoying. Lots of crashes and bugs, and half of the time there are huge FPS drops when mages or healers do AOE moves. The screen often goes black and graphics are not properly rendered
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a bug on the last battle so it's not possible to finish the game without messing with cracking. Overall Disciples 3 is ok, a bit boring game. The graphics are good, music could be better (after some time it gets boring). I would suggest King's Bounty over Disciples any day.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is literally the most buggy game i have ever played and ive played hundreds. constant crashing. its old so there will be no patch. DONT BUY THIS GAME!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glitchy as hell, crashes randolmly at any interactions. King's Bounty style of battle also seems out of place for the series. What was wrong with the D1 and D2 battle style? It's like HoMM4 - tried to be al new and fresh but failed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Big fan of Disciples 1 and 2, and I really tried to get this game to work. For the time I could play it was great - gorgeous graphics, fun gameplay, really enjoyable to me (except the narration - that's abysmal). However, I am playing this on Windows 10 in 2020. My computer is ten years newer than the game is. And as with older games on newer computers, this one has its share of problems - or at least one really, really big one. Every so often, the textures disappear, the music stops…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Constant crash, you could have the best video card ever, im playing with the 1080, and it keep crashing even in low settings.... what a shame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game with turn based, isometric map movement set in a medieval fantastic, dark gothic world. I like the improvements over Disciples II such as having a bigger party, having skills for your heroes, attributes, levels and even a paperdoll to equip items. The art direction or style remains the same as in Disciples II; It's gothic medieval fantastic and epic. The map, the units and the battles are all in 3d. In the single player campaign (only thing I've played), there are about 24 maps (I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only reason I played this game was because I got it free as a gift from a giveaway anyway but having played RPGs and lots of strategy games before this game didn't fail to meet my expectations and just be another repetitive same old turn based game. Dunno if it should even count as "Role Playing" since the lore is same old elves/orcs bla bla nothing interesting. Maybe I could see this game a little more reasonable to buy if its price was a fair amount for what it offers, but sadly at this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The rebirth of hex grid based tactics! An engaging Turn-Based strategy game with many RPG elements. If you were a fan of the old Heroes of Might & Magic games and you seek a new perspective of that kind You should try this! An immense world with diverse lore wrapped in wonderful and finely detailed graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is unplayable. The number of bugs is overwhelming, the graphics glitch out, and battles freeze. Achievements don’t work, and you really have to put in a lot of effort and dig through forums to fix it. The graphics are ugly, and the map is hard to read. I recommend Disciples 1 and 2, but you can easily skip this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This early version of D3 is bug-ridden so I cannot recommend it, get D3:Reincarnation instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unstable and constantly crashes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When the games works it is amazing It keeps crashing and it has been this way since the release of the game. I just don't understand why they would abandon a game with such an amazing potential.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It seems like a really good game, and I bought it because I wasn't able to enjoy the series of Disciples 2 onwards, and I love the type of game, but the constant crashes makes it a no go. I can't even enjoy finishing the campaign. Also there's this really weird bug on the hero's skill tree that if you hit ESC on it, the skill tree panel stays on top and you return to the map screen (from the roster). From that point on, I can neither close the skill tree nor do anything else other than kill…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I guess I was just hoping for more of Disciples 2. This is not what I was expecting and it just seems I could be spending my time playing better games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PROS Decent enough story. Sometimes battle can be satisfying. CONS Difficulty curve is a mess. Things will get extremely hard, then very easy. The hardest part of most levels is the beginning. Stats and armies don't continue from one level to the next. Bugs, so many bugs. If the battle music stops playing, you have to save and restart the game, otherwise graphical glitches will begin leading to a complete and repeated crash of the game, requiring a level restart in some cases. You CANNOT beat…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the dark fantasy feel to this game so much. Not saying it's great but damn I wish there were more games with this art style and atmosphere out there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disciples III is a game that I ultimately expected more from. The Disciples series was something of a cult hit and Disciples II:Dark Prophecy was one of my favorite turn based games. The series has always been noted for its beautiful gothic art style that reminds you of Arthur Rackham's illustrations. That said the artwork in Disciples III is what one would expect from the franchise. The maps, units, buildings are all detailed well enough. However the gorgeous art design can't hide some of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disciples III: Renaissance represents a bold yet uneven attempt to modernize a cult-favorite strategy series while preserving its signature dark fantasy identity. Developed by Akella and .dat and published by Kalypso Media Digital, the game arrives with clear ambition: to expand the scope, visuals, and mechanical depth of the Disciples formula while moving away from some of the rigid systems that defined earlier entries. The result is a game that is visually striking and content-rich, but one…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is incredibly buggy. It's a shame because I really liked Disciples 1 and 2 when I was much younger. This game is buggy to the point of being practically unplayable. There are graphics glitches every half hour that prevent you from interfacing with the game properly, and it constantly needs to be restarted in order to be played for any length of time before it bugs out and shuts down, or just entirely crashes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, I'm one of the people that enjoyed this franchise for such a long time. I played Disciple 2 hundreds of hours and I considered it the biggest competitor to the OG Heroes 3, which puts it, for me and my preferred kind of games, on top 10 most influential games of all time. So, you can say I'm quite a fan. Disciple 3 tries to innovate on the initial formula. The biggest change that you will find is the battlefield grid movement, which is a love or hate kind of game mechanics. As an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It keeps crashing and freezing during battles. In instant battles sometimes mages attack, but often don't (you can see that during werewolf encounters). Cities and units upgrade looks worse than Disciples II. Just play Disciples II, this isn't worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love it. Never play it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad pretty good actually. if u manage to make it work for your system. seen that it has issues as a memory hog. but i play it in low settings, still gorgeous art and atmosphere. it reminds me of the latest heroes of might and magic. music, ambience and multitasking quests in a single stage its all there. Got to be careful on your troops here. this game doesnt rely on stacks of troops but just, your retinue if they survive long enough. they become a force to be reckoned with.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the essence of hot garbage. Avoid it at all costs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →buggy, so buggy. do not buy unless you really enjoy buggy games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy, annoying lvling, weird decisions(those guardians...why are they even here?). I liked this game BUT I cant recommend it esp when u are second entry fan.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute disaster, unplayable crashes, waste of money. Shouldn't be offered for sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was woefully outdated, even for 2010.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →stupid game is corrupt as all heck, i can only play 2-5 turns before i have to exit the game to start over or it even kicks me out... so many bugs, and love this series so this sucks bad
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game growing up and bought it on sale for nostalgia. Unless you fall into the same boat, I do not recommend this game. This game does not require very much strategy and is quite boring. Most battles can be skipped with the fast battle feature as this game is so simplistic and easy that it can play itself and probably have more fun than you ever would.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Campaign scenario is way to hard. Have not beat it on normal difficulty in eight or ten plays. No fun. Giving up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad game. Not worth any money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →permenantly crashes. stay back! do not waste your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crash crash crash crash... unnplayable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pro : -Good graphics type and quality for the time -amazing soundtrack -love the gothic athmosphere -lvling system is good -lot of content Con : -voice acting is not the best -a few bugs ( nothing game breaking )
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →while it might be kinda fun to play there are some pretty bad bugs. constant crashing in it. anytime you see the screen go black in some parts its going to crash next thing you do. if you really want to play this i suggest only doing it when deeply discounted or a bundle. so I want to do an edit to show there is a way around the crashing but it sucks. its lowering the graphics of the game. It doesn't prevent it from crashing still but it does reduce it from happening constantly. Its the only…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Multiplayer is hotseat only. ♥♥♥♥ this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game with some annoying bugs, but still a masterpiece.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game plays like a heroes of might and magic /king bounty, you explore the map with your hero and when you have to fight it's a tactical turn by turn on a map with hexagons. Everything looks good, nice animation, art, background stuff, the tutorial being extremely boring you start playing the first campaign in normal mode. First, it's hard to say what you can click on or not, what are dungeons, what are bonus , you have to move the mouse pointer around to see it change so you know you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played until the fifth Empire mission and decided it was enough, the story is boring and the combat is like that of the Heroes series with added RPG elements to heroes like stats (STR, END, AGI, DEX, INT) and items which feel unnecessary. The graphics in Disciples 2 looked better and the campaign was actually voiced which makes a huge difference. Pros It got me in the mood for Disciples 2. Cons Only the description at the beginning of the mission is voiced. Same units as…
