Morgan the Crow got a lovely ending, I wanted to celebrate! I put together some of my favorite illustrations, starting with this poster I designed for the game!

However you can download Freespace 2 and install Freespace Open from the Hard-Light Forums. The game now features hundreds of mods, campaigns, and user made ships as well as two separate takes on how the Freespace universe could have progressed after Freespace 2. It is also possible to play with upgraded graphics and at higher resolutions. All that for the…

unlabelledView post →Descent: FreeSpace was - for pretty much two decades - the start of the best space combat simulation ever developed. I probably spent several years of my childhood playing FreeSpace 1 and 2 and to this day there is no other game which I will get back to every few years and then play it for months on end because it is that good. Never before have I played a game which utilizes almost all keyboard buttons, some of them even twice or thrice with button combinations. It takes days to get used to…

unlabelledView post →White Knuckle is the most interesting, genuinely fresh first person game I've played in I don't know how long, and also one of the most terrifying things I've ever played. Getting Over It meets The Descent meets Amnesia meets Half-Life 1.
unlabelledView post →Oh boy oh boy oh boy... have you heard the good word about ALIENS: DARK DESCENT?! :D I'm not kidding, this game feels like the mechanical evolution of Satellite Reign, with the tense stress-management of Darkest Dungeon. store.steampowered.com/app/1150440/...
unlabelledView post →Descent released on MS-DOS in 1994 as the first "true 3D" first-person shooter, and the game that popularized six degrees of freedom in movement (and made some people nauseous because of it). That it could run on the Playstation as well as it did, and control as well as it did, was mind-blowing.
unlabelledView post →7. Aliens: Dark Descent This game was one of the biggest surprises for me last year, it's a real-time strategy game that manages to capture a very true to the source material kind of tension through its gameplay systems, I absolutely adored this game! store.steampowered.com/app/1150440/...
unlabelledView post →By the way, Aliens: Dark Descent is on sale for another 12 hours, and is one of the most tense gaming experiences I've had, it's utterly genius game design store.steampowered.com/app/1150440/...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8. Aliens: Dark Descent This is one of the tensest games I've ever experienced, it's a real-time strategy where you command a squad of marines and it manages to capture the very specific kind of tension Aliens had perfectly, it's incredible and I hope some day we see an expansion for it. Focus pls!
unlabelledView post →Aliens: Dark Descent is on sale again, and once again I'm telling you to check it out, it's an extremely tense real time strategy game.
unlabelledView post →awesome game! played this back in the day. this does come with the silent threat expansion. My personal opinion is i need a joystick to fully enjoy this, but reguardless this works fine and is enjoyable on my windows 8.1 system. FREESPACE 3 PLEASE!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Happy 30th anniversary, Descent! A game I still suck at. The "360 degrees of freedom" meant that people got disorented and motion sick. It also kickstarted the race to see who released the weirdest 3D controller ever.
unlabelledView post →Oh, and Aliens: Dark Descent is on sale right now! I'm once again telling everyone to play Aliens: Dark Descent
unlabelledView post →Have you played Descent? It was a major success and rightfully so! It started the subgenre of 6DOF first-person shooters and it was the first fully 3D FPS game. What a blast! 💥 💿 Descent (1995) ~ Parallax Software
unlabelledView post →10. Aliens: Dark Descent As a real-time strategy game, Dark Descent succeeds remarkably in replicating the tension of Aliens, you can be quickly overrun, you'll need to be sealing doors and creating choke points to deal with hunts as you explore, it's a masterpiece of creating tension with systems.

unlabelledView post →3. Aliens: Dark Descent Cannot recommend this game highly enough if you're a fan of Aliens or real-time strategy, it masterfully replicates the tension of the movie through its gameplay mechanics, explore vast intricately designed levels, manage your squad's stress, set up turrets and choke points.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is unplayable. It's actually a copy of the original, with no added support for new gen PCs. It only plays at 800x600 resolution. It's as useless as having the original CD at home. Do not buy this game. You can play it using a port to FreeSpace2 found with FreeSpaceOpen. Check this out for more info. http://www.hard-light.net/forums/?topic=61606.0 That said, if you have never played FS1 or FS2 you should, using those mods I mentioned. Aliens: Dark Descent Another movie tie-in, this game is incredible at conjuring the specific kind of stress and tension of Aliens; a real-time strategy game where you'll have to proceed cautiously, seal doors behind you, set up choke points, etc. store.steampowered.com/app/1150440/...

Then in the Freespace Launcher go into setup, video, detect cards. Then use 3DFX glide, and then run. It should work now. (If you are still having trouble make sure it's running in admin, or it will not save the options and wont work)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Descent Freespace - The great War" despite being an old game (1998) is in my opinion an all-time-jewel of space sims, in its time I liked it even better than "Wing Commander", and that was by all means utterly brilliant. The story, the mission design, the enemies - Shivans and Vasudans - are just captivating. Nowadays at this price you should have a look, there are worse ways to waste your time than saving mankind;-)

Even today its not to bad compared to some of the new games out, It has a great story wich i think many of todays games lack. For $6 you really cant go worng. I also got Freespace 2 and played it all the way through again. Funny thing is I still own the original copies of both these games.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This version is garbage. It no longer works on modern hardware and Steam doesn't update it. So you you spent money on this you've now got an unplayable game. It's better you buy off GOG or get yourself the original CD version. On GOG they actually fix games not just money grab. Sorry Steam, you're in the wrong here, users should be entitled to refunds on broken titles.

You are a recruit pilot who just joined the Galactic Terran Alliance in its age-long war against the Parliamentary Vasudan Empire, but the war takes a different turn when an unknown threat makes its appearance with the sole purpose of exterminating both races. Pros: You get to live the war and the events through the eyes of a pilot, and the whole story is detailed through mission briefings and in-game events. Different…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I saw this had become available on Steam, I was overjoyed. Freespace: The Great War was one of my absolute favorite games as a child, and I believe it still holds up strongly to this day. The game begins 14 years into the war between the Terrans and Vasudans, and before long, an even greater threat shows its face, an ancient and destructive alien race known only as the Shivans...enemy to Terran and Vasudan alike. Freespace: The Great War is a space flight sim. While most missions involve…
