positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Defunct is more for speedrunners I would be lying if I said I didn't have fun with this game, but... It takes about an hour to play through the story, which is nothing special. The levels are okay, there are a few tasks, otherwise it's just a matter of driving straight ahead. The cutscenes are very boring as they hardly have any sound and the camera is sometimes pretty awful. I don't have the desire to play through it more times and explore the world, so I can't recommend it for the price of…

unlabelledView post →This is no adventure game, despite the description. More like tony hawk with robots and less emphasis on tricks and a tiny bit of sonic thrown in. Controls were kind of awkward and I really didn't enjoy it that much. I don't know what "engaging world" is supposed to mean, either. You fly past everything at 100mph; it's all a blur.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The sonic game we never got but desperately need.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you look at Defunct as just a game to complete once by playing the campaign, you're going to be disappointed. It is very short, especially for the $10CAD price tag, with me beating the game in around 50 minutes the first time I played. However, I soon discovered the real game begins with the Time Trials. My first impressions of the game were positive, especially with the $0.99CAD deal I bought it for, But with the Time Trials, which takes sections from the campaign and chops them into…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When the biggest complaint in a review is there not being enough game, you know you're doing something right. THAT SAID, the short length of the game IS a huge detriment to this game's worth. 10 dollars is a high asking price for a game that's a few hours long. I have like 5 in this game and that was with me trying to 100% it. The levels and smooth as butter gameplay (When you know what you're doing) are highly replayable, but there just isn't a lot here to say. If you are willing to spend…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Defunct is a fast-paced indie adventure platformer set in post-human Earth. Fun, bite-size experience with simple mechanics and satisfying gameplay. I recommend picking it up at a good discount due to its short length. Pros: - Cool art style; - Enjoyable gameplay; - Decent optimisation; - Good controls; - Time trial mode; Cons: - Mediocre soundtrack; - Short campaign;

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fast paced adventure game where you must use your robotic abilities to built up momentum in order to go fast and look cool while doing it. While the game is somewhat linear each of the game's diverse areas are open ended, alowing for exploration in order to find colectables and hiden areas. The game is simply fun, controlls great, building and keeping your momentum is sastifying and rewarding. The game is a bit short, took me a bit less than 2 hours to complete (I imagine it lasting only 1 hour…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short, but very fun game. Gravity-based speed and some surprisingly large areas to explore. You can get going very fast at times. The game can be beaten in one sitting, but I came back to it on a few different platforms to replay it. Cute aesthetic and well-produced.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was amazing, I thought to myself as I was about 50 minutes into playing it. I was thinking about all the future areas to explore and mess around in as I had only just begun playing the game. Only ten minutes later, I finished the game. Everything about this game I love... but its just way too short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Defunct offers an experience similar to a mobile app like Dune! With some vertical sequences to mix up the gameplay and a few more features to keep it quirky and replayable. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic earth for the majority where a robot with a busted wheel is dumped by mistake from his home ship, your goal is to get back to the ship before it leaves the planet. The story is basic and isn't really what keeps the game interesting. Apart from very little interactions between the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found Defunct an enjoyable little game with an unusual but skill-rewarding movement scheme. While you can move under your own power, your speed this way is limited. Instead, you need to use a combination of gravity and limited boosters to accelerate. At first, this can be difficult to maintain for long, which can make the initial experience a bit frustrating. However, with practice it becomes a surprisingly rewarding system. The game's levels are a decent size with multiple routes to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short but amazing. I love physics and mechanics in this game, flying here is really exciting and satisfying. Music and sounds are relaxing, gameplay is fast and dynamic, but it's relaxing too. It was very well spent 1,7 hours. Game is worth full price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A stylish quick racing game thats reliant on one simple mechanic. It is fun to play although very short. I have finished the game 4 times, but I never had the urge to return and explore more. I'd like to have a longer game for 10€. Anybody that considers to buy this game should wait for a sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got me hooked. Loved the atmosphere and music! You should definitely try it if you love speed, and if you're a Sonic fan :]
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inexpensive (got it during the sale for like 99 cent), and quirky a concept, but I'll be asking for a refund. Why? Motion sickness. They give you FoV options, but I couldn't find a setting that helped. My stomach is churning as I write this, but If you're one of those gamers that don't get Motion sick then give it a try. it uses a unique gravity momentum system, Pump down hills to gain speed and coast, occasionally using a weak engine to get up hills if you dont have enough steam to make it to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →is good. You get about an hour of game, but if you grab this for a dollar, I think it's worth it if you like open ended "go fast" games. There's a ton of paths to take and a lot of ways to fast. There is some jank, don't get me wrong, but if you're a Sonic fan, you kind of just expect it and accept it anyway, don't you??? where else you gonna go, huh??? HUH? anyway, it's a nice little way to treat yourself
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, A really Amazing Experience for a Puzzle-Adventure game. Music is pretty good, Overall a really enjoyable game with replay-ability as time trials and collectables. It's kinda like the WALL-E game, the gameplay and flow is near identical. 8.5/10 really short so dont expect insane hours for the full price
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Defunct has genuinely fun, fast-paced gameplay, however it is an INCREDIBLY short game. I got it on sale, however the game's full price of 10 bucks is hefty when the game takes somewhere between 1 and 3 hours to beat, even if you're going for 100% completion. Of course other games in that price range can be about as short, but Defunct isn't a game telling a fascinating story, it's a plattformer. Whereas an interesting story can be told in around an hour, a plattformer only really starts to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a 3D platformer with rich environments and sizeable levels, but unfortunately the game is at its best when you're ignoring all of that. The game's central mechanic is 'gravitization' whereby going down inclines can net you a ton of speed and it's the only method you have of acceleration. Precisely controlling your character just isn't possible, so you'll have the most fun if you're going at breakneck speed. Soon enough you'll blaze through all the levels, and this game will have lasted…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is straight-up one of my favourite games ever played. I have bought this on every platform I can, I love this game and the idea behind it. Use gravity to make smooth moves between highs and lows in the ground, moving from stage to stage knowing where to use the weight of the machine knowing your most optimal moves. At one point I held top 3 in several stages for time, including the extra stages - never having looked at speedruns. This is a game about speed and optimisation but at it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →!!! WARNING !!! Motion sickness guaranteed. This game needs to come with a warning! I liked the concept and the game idea and design when I started, it is fun going fast and working out the subtle challenges to do this but this is made unnecessarily annoying by the odd sensitivity of left and right movement. The ever changing pov and the janky overly sensitive controls quickly made me feel very sick and I have never suffered from motion sickness.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's simply too short to buy at full price. For a dollar though? The way that the game handles the feeling of speed is probably worth the price of entry. Strictly not enjoyable to "100%". Play the game, play it a few times, pretend the air is flowing over your mechanical helmet.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game because it reminds me of Wall-E.. But what i get is more than what I expected. This game has both beautiful music and scenery to enjoy along your way... It's unlike any speed rush parkour game i've seen. The whole world is one huge open map free for exploring. There are different paths you can take on your journey to reach your next destination. There's even secret areas to explore. You can play it slow or fast the way you like it, enjoy sight seeing and stops by beautiful places…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into this game with fairly low expectations and still came away disappointed. Here are the details. The Sights I'm down with nostalgia-fueled graphics choices but, even with everything in the game turned up, the graphics are about PS1 level quality. It doesn't add charm or anything. The Sounds I found nothing interesting about the sound. The soundtrack is minimal, as are the sound effects. It mostly comes across as muted. The Struggles When you're just trundling forward, the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun i beat in one sitting. However it is reeks of waisted potential the game mainly consists of open world sandboxes that you can play around in with lots of opportunities to go fast however the game is a incredibly slow when moveing in between those opportunities to go fast. I feel like this could have been fixed with a unlimited boost gauge or at least a much expanded one or even just make the boost refill over time insted of haveing to find more and if the devs wanted levels…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. It's a very pretty racing game with simple mechanics and good replay value. It's not a long game and it doesn't have a complex story, but it has just enough to create a compelling atmosphere. Anyway, you can go FAST and that's what really matters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't get it. Not sure where I am going, not sure what I am doing, then the game ends. Speed dissipates so quickly, it seems like most of the time I might as well be a snail. It's pretty frustrating for such a simple game. There are lots of collectibles to find if you hate yourself and want to repeat the same actions until it works randomly and you get the pointless object. I have no idea how anyone liked this.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Game Is Noting a Ending....:(
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The sense of speed advertised and seen in the game is there fleetingly. This is an adventure game. You run around aimlessly trying to find orbs. When you need to jump on platforms you can't because your jump is too small. The controls need more explaining in the game as well. Don't frustrate your players until they are at least an hour or two into your game and have it based on levels not a lack of understanding of the controls. Who puts a massive jump three minutes into the game (Spoiier:…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very short, i beat it in an hour and a half But very satisfying movement, something akin to counter strike surf if it was a 3D platformer. Very cheap on sale so can't go wrong with this one ^^

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some of the clunkiest controls i've ever seen in a game. Could be decent if the game didn't feel like absolute ♥♥♥♥ to play but as is it's pathetically bad. Very very strongly recommend against playing it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm clearly in the minority with my opinion since this game has so much positivity, but I could only manage 10 minutes. The mechanics are clunky (steering the robot/camera with a and d rather than the mouse; strange mechanics with gravity, flickering from uphill to downhill rapidly; bumping into slight corners of objects minimally protruding from the ground, spinning the robot and the camera out of control, etc.). The map design is difficult to navigate. The aesthetic is great, don't get me…

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the trailer looks fun, but the game is actually too amateurish to be enjoyable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a fun ride; however, those who played only the main gamemode missed out on the best part, the time trials. Finding better and better strategies as you try to improve your time while listening to some good music was a nice experience. Overall, it had a couple bugs here and there, but it was fun nonetheless.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I distinctly remember playing a demo of this game at a conference, and being barely impressed by it. And I still stand by the opinion that it has some rough edges and technical problems. But apart from that, I can recommend this game to anyone who doesnt seek a long-time commitment. Its one hour of pure design joy and creativity, the movement plays extremely well into the level geometry and you can pull off some insane stunts and satisfying shortcuts with it. Plus, you are supporting a…

Although I used a gamepad, the user doesn't need the skills of a piano player to follow the path and execute the tasks demanded by the game. I would play it again as well as purchase it as a gift to a friend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →short but sweet, my first playthrough was about an hour, which is alright, this game is pretty replayable and i could definitely see me completing it multiple times. the soundtrack is also pretty neat for such a small game. good system requirements, ran on my intel hd 3000 on 480p low, never dipping under 25 fps and maintaining more most of the time. definitely do recommend a buy when it's off.
