That's brilliant! I just had the same idea of taking inspiration from the cave paintings when it came to make the wild horses from our game Dawn of Man :)

Just throwing this out there in case there’s an ambitious game dev looking for a killer app: I’d kill for a game that combined elements of the Sims, Crusader Kings, Dawn of Man and Stellaris. I wanna build a culture/nation from scratch and play it into its Star Trek era.

Yeah like my comfort food cozy go-to is starting a new run of Dawn of Man/Timberborn/Against the Storm... any game that lets me pretend to have some kind of organizational control of the world around me & ability to improve people's quality of life. The aesthetic trappings are not in consideration.

Recently played a lot of "Dawn of Man", a settlement-managment game that takes place beetween the Stone- and Iron Age. Heres my little Iron Age community. :y

i remember a colony game i used to play called "Dawn of Man" that was about managing a village from the neolithic to early iron age. people complained it stopped getting updates but like...the game did what it set out to do. its done. you cant add more features to it without breaking the conceit.

Banished is a horrible city builder somewhat good early game, NO mid or late game it's basically playing Stronghold in sandbox mode, go play Dawn of Man it's AGES better

Secret Levels has some good episodes, but a lot of the game series choices feels like they're based on world-famous iconic action game series HELLFIRE RESISTANCE: DAWN OF MAN or whatever box art I've passed my eyes over but never really looked at.

I'm thinking about a policy where I won't recommend a game should the dev team of it decide to use that game as an advertisement platform. This is a through-line from "Dawn of Man" to "Green Hell" and others, where you get regular empty patches & notifications that have nothing to do with the game

Dawn of Man! actually a very cool game, you start in the Palaeolithic and progress from there. sort of a colony sim/survival/city builder all in one. good mix of tension and reward for mine you do get to make other things, but your villagers will eat what you give them 😁

God I love games where you progress from like primitive tech to higher and better ones. I need more games with tech progression. (The game is Dawn of Man if anyone wonders).

Is there a commune "City builder" kind of game? But like once that is really deep without being a UX nightmare tho. One game that basically erase time for me is Dawn of Man, because I fucking love city builders, but I also like the political aspects of like creating places.

Lol! I'm still excited for it. It plays a lot like a game I got into several years back, Dawn of Man, which everybody critiquing ML for not being part of the Total War franchise seems to never have heard of before🤣

When I was in Kuala Lumpur I went to the museum and one section was ancient history and made me really want to play Dawn of Man again so I've been playing it every night since I got back. It's just a nice, chill game.

Can't wait to play this. Planetbase 1 was actually a very good game and I also liked Dawn of Man.

Roots of Pacha is an ADORABLE game. I’d argue it’s a prehistoric Stardew Valley mixed with Dawn of Man. I love seeing all the extinct animals brought to life, especially mammoths and smilodons.

I was going to say keeping too many "exotic" animals, beavers specifically, since I've been playing a bit of Timberborn recently, but that actual last game I played before posting this would probably get me "camping without a permit", since it was Dawn of Man.

And the third one is Dawn of Man. My comfort game. To play when I'm tired or depressed or I just don't have the mental energy to deal with the world. Is the life of prehistoric people hard? Of course. This makes it even more satisfying to see them well fed, warm and thriving! And then have doggies!

why aren't there more games set in pre-historic times? i don't mean "games with dinos", or the regrettable games with flintstones-style cave-men. i mean games set in a paleolithic setting, like #dawnOfMan
