Diablo like gameplay, very good mechanics, really fun with character progression, the story is there. I like the progression and the skill set, I miss the weapons system if I have to be honest, but I also understand. Played the final unlimited arena, after 1 hour of fighting, I died at 64k points - Level 70... needed 1k more to get the last reward.... the fight got so heated that my PSU caught fire (not kididng). Everything…

Co-op is also messy, the second player kept losing progress, which eventually stopped us from continuing together properly. 🎚️ Difficulty 🔲 My grandmother could play it 🔲 Easy ☑️ Normal ☑️ Hard 🔲 A challenge to be reckoned 🔲 In the heat of confrontation, (Only PVP games) 🗺️ Graphics 🔲 MS Paint 🔲 Bad 🔲 Meh 🔲 Normal ☑️ Very Good 🔲 An…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this franchise. This one was going to be my second-best game after Darksiders 2. But it’s unplayable. The game is filled with bugs and barely functions. At the start, they were minor bugs or serious-but-fun bugs, so we didn’t mind them. We actually liked a few of them. But at Chapter 11, we just can’t finish it. This is our second day trying, and every time, the last enemy, whose death spawns a boss, just falls under the ground and we get stuck. Two times we managed to kill him,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Darksiders so it only made sense that I play Genesis. I convinced my boyfriend to play it with me and we had a blast. Despite being top-down the game is very similar to the gameplay of Darksiders 1 if you play War and the dialogues between War and Strife are always gold. It's definitely the kind of game you don't want to play alone because it's just soooo much better with a partner. We finished the game in 15 hours but I wish we could have had more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First positive things about game ... story, characters and conversations ... that is all, game mechanics are very broken sometimes does not work at all. You are getting stucked all the time in terrain and models, I would not buy this game again even on sale ... really sad, Darksiders 1 and 2 great games ... this one was flop in terms of gameplay
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seems like a pretty standard action game, I guess? Got off to a bad start with co-op, with one player's spontaneously lost progress rendering us unable to continue together after the first couple hours. Others online are reporting similar issues online; if you're hoping for a smooth online co-op experience from this, maybe give it a pass.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well why Strife didn't got his own solo game is still a mystery ....buget or never planned or something else ...we don't know for sure yet ...but even so this game still let you play as Strife and explore his own charisma and a bit of his background. This game is happening before events of the first game ...events that will lead to the Apocalypse ..the story is kind of short and builded a dialogue instead of cutscenes and boxes like in comics but is still good and very fun because of Strife.…

Yes, I finished it because I was in mood for something like this and I like the universe but it is realy just ok. eg: getting stuck here and there, cannot jump over this obstacle but 10 meters besides it is ok, skills show empty - go in the menu again now they show, descriptions are sometimes wrong, gameplay loop is very straight, arena is always the same 2 circle spawns in a circle…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's garbage, but it's somewhat fun. It's a pretty boilderplate ARPG in most respects. More focus on the gameplay than the loot fountains we have come to expect of the genre however. Gameplay is very dull. Enemies are uninteresting. Abilities are uninteresting. The game does very little with either. I find that, when playing the ranged character, the vast majority of the gameplay consists of just holding lmb and walking backwards. It's a little embarassing. The game was clearly meant for co-op,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →such a fantastic game! in 2019 i didn't give it the credit it deserves. but now, after finishing all the main Darksiders games, i have to say: this one is a gem. they took the best from the second game and Battle Chasers and mixed it. so much style and love in the details, a masterclass in the art of light. great expansion of the world. fun combat, though aiming can be frustrating. i hope Airship and Madureira will get a chance to come back to this world someday.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Darksiders Genesis is honestly such a damn good time. It’s a different take on the series, but it still has that classic Darksiders vibe and I had a blast with it. Now I just want to see anything from Darksiders 4 already a gameplay clip, a little story tease, whatever. I just wanna know what they’re cooking. 😭🔥
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wanted to like this game as I'm a fan of the series but this game is just annoying. The camera is just ♥♥♥♥ and feels like its done on purpose. Platforming is more about fighting the stupid camera and being fooled by its perspective and then being forced to start all over than anything. The puzzles are often deliberately grindy and not skills based. For example having to run back and forth across the whole map to grab an object needed for a puzzle only for it to go wrong because again the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished Darksiders Genesis. Really enjoyable little game. Too bad they didn't add Death and Fury as playable characters, but I sank about 30hrs into it and had a blast the whole time.
unlabelledView post →I did not finish this game and do not recommend it. (at least as a single player experience, though i dont see how making this co-op makes it better) on my third play session i was falling asleep and got myself on a treadmill to stay awake to play it out of stubbornness to progress through the game. I really found very little fun in this game. Finishers did not feel as cool from the third person action rpg angle, even as spammable they were. Puzzles were a lot of running around struggling with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Darksiders Genesis" is a pretty straightforward dungeon crawler; as someone who hasn't played a dungeon crawler since the old "Gauntlet" arcade game they used to have at Dave & Busters, I found myself in the mood for one, as well as a simple game that I wouldn't have to think too hard about. And so I bought this game for the low during the Winter Sale, sped through it, and realized that I probably only scratched the surface of what the game had to offer - so I replayed it on the hardest…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Darksiders Genesis is a mediocre experience with a completely forgettable story. The absolute worst part of the game is the character movement. The characters constantly snag on environmental geometry. You are always getting stuck on random rocks or invisible corners. When you're just exploring, it's annoying, but when it happens in the middle of a fight, it will genuinely cost you a few nerve cells. This clumsiness directly ruins the platforming sections, too. There are moments in the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels like Mario and Darksiders had a baby, as you’re constantly collecting coins, souls, and keys while solving puzzles. Co-op was fun, and being able to swap between characters is nice. Strife uses a lot of modern language and cosplays Cayde-6 from Destiny. The camera can be awkward at times, and enemy variety is fairly limited. I'd recommend it only on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s a shame to have to trash a game that is actually fun, simply because it is riddled with bugs. That is exactly the case with Darksiders Genesis: I’m playing it in local coop; the combat system is very satisfying, and the challenge posed by the various enemy types is engaging. Aside from the truly terrible Italian voice acting, the game suffers from serious bug-related issues: I was forced to replay various levels multiple times because a lever failed to activate when it should have, or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Game is just, "okay"? Combat gets pretty repetitive pretty quickly. I highly dislike the dash "locking" your movement inputs until the full animation is finished which results in a janky feeling after dashing. The game also has platforming but the game isn't built for it whatsoever, it becomes more of an annoyance then anything. It isn't bad by any means but it's not great either, grab it on sale if you're thinking of getting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the gameplay, personally. I switched from keyboard to controller very soon into the game and I definitely recommend playing this with a controller if you want to give this game a try. The story is really interesting. I haven't finished the game yet at the time of writing this review but gosh, this is my type of game. Everything about it is simply great!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Darksiders Genesis is a fun fast paced game with cool combat and awesome co op vibes feels different from the old games but still got that darksiders style and honestly its pretty enjoyable
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not sure why people keep calling this an ARPG (like Diablo) in the reviews. It is not. It doesn't claim to be, either. It's a twin stick shooter, which also features melee attacks, puzzles, platforming, and a few upgrades. But you do not develop your character, you do not make choices, you do not find gear, you find upgrades for more health/wrath (mana) and new abilities you can freely switch between. Unfortunately, that doesn't make Genesis any good. Quite the opposite. I really do like…

We are talking "journalism-level" difficulty here - honestly, you will breeze through this even on the harder settings. It is just a button-masher where you don’t have to really think about much you do at all; the game pretty much plays itself. The only people loving this game are the skill-less noobs and beginners out there, who get a dopamine rush from the simplicity of pressing a button and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wish I had read more reviews before buying this. The controls are awful and the platforming is a joke. Unfortunately I played it just a bit too much to get the refund.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What actually surprises me is how different each Darksiders game are, not just by what character you play, but because how each entry is a different genre. The first game is a stylish action game, the third is a soulslike and Genesis is a top down action game with metroidvania elements, I had a lot of fun exploring the world and returning to earlier locations to explore with new abilities, I liked the core system that gives not only stat upgrades but also grants us with passive skills that also…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best coop experiences. While it doesn't really need to be the coop game. Hope other studios can learn the way: make a cool game but also make it coop friendly. On the downside it's very short. Criminally so.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, worthy of the franchise. Different camera view first irritates a bit, but then you get used to it, and it has all the things that makes Darksiders great. Items, quite tricky puzzles sometimes, cool cores which you can lv up to improve stats, and many good chapters. Vulgrim, Samael, Arena... all there. Made we replay the 1st Warsiders game as I wanted more! 9/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun game, especially if you are playing co-op. There is local co-op splitscreen as well, which I greatly appreciate, and you can do everything with another player. While the game does have a top down camera, the combat and everything feels more akin to hack and slash (e.g., God of War 1-3) with Metroidvania elements thrown in as well, which adds some replayability. There are some glaring flaws. The camera can be horrendous. If you're fighting a boss in a corner, good luck. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable conclusion to the story, but I'd prefer the other three main stories to the isometric style of this one. Not bad, but the others are better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Movement system is ass
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genesis plays like the rest of the series with the main difference being the top-down camera view. It's an overall fun experience whether you're new or a fan of the series. Did Genesis need to exist? Honestly, I don't think so. It doesn't add anything to the series lore except for the very end of the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Darksiders: Genesis is a Co-op top-down hack & slash game blend with twin-stick shooter and dungeon exploration. Its shooter part is awesome, but the hack & slash part is decent. If you play with your friend, you and your friend maybe get a good adventure experience. The puzzles are not hard, and you can increase your characters’ stats by dungeon exploration instead of kill enemies. The visuals are beautiful and comic style, if you are looking for some unique art style game or dungeon…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't expect it going in, but this is easily my favorite Darksiders game now. I loved the exploration (lots of nooks and crannies to check out), progression (the soul cores are a bit more interesting than your standard skill tree) and especially the combat. The fights have such a good flow to them as you can instantly switch between both characters who have the exact opposite playstyle. For variety's sake I was switching between both Horsemen often, but I will say Strife was still easily my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The camera angle makes it very difficult to judge height and distance, and the game seems to rely on this mechanic far too often. It feels like many platforming sections are built around fighting the camera rather than the actual challenge. Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy the game very much. The story felt below average and never really grabbed my attention. After a couple of sessions, I didn't feel like coming back. It ended up feeling like a spin-off that never quite lived up to the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't let the negative reviews stop you from playing this game with a friend or a partner! this is the first game ive ever played from the Darksiders franchise so because of that this is a unbiased review. I dont know what its like to play this game alone so maybe it can get a lil boring alone but in a world where there aren't many splitscreen or coop games this is a banger!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🌀 As someone who's not a huge fan of this franchise (and even when this genre is made in isometric view), I'm surprised it sometimes gets truly negative reviews. It plays nicely, has variety, and looks good. The combat, like the upgrades, is casual but solid, with a fair amount of optional features. Almost all the variety of the arsenal is effective, and there are even more mob types than expected, including bosses. Puzzles and secrets are simple and well-timed, so it's never gets boring. As a…

unlabelledView post →I love completing the Darksiders series 100%, but the isometric perspective in this game makes it nearly impossible to step onto certain puzzle platforms. To collect all the collectibles in the game, you have to revisit previously completed areas and replay the same maps again. This feels like a cheap way to artificially extend the game’s length, and most people tolerate it only because they love the franchise. That’s why I wish the game progressed in a more linear way, allowing you to finish…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice addition to the series that finally lets us play as Strife. I prefer the third person original games gameplay wise but i enjoyed the action, puzzles, music as well as the story of this one - the abysmal platforming not so much, but we don't talk about that because i try to move on. Buy it on a sale. Darksiders 4 will continue and probably conclude the original's story (after War kills Abaddon and now all the 4 Horsemen fight for Earth's Salvation etc).
