60 of 79 · most liked firstDark Strokes 2: The Legend of the Snow Kingdom (IHOG) (This is a standalone story, so don't worry if you've not played #1 yet) Options include separate sliders for Music and SFX, Fullscreen, Custom Cursor, Widescreen and Low-quality. There are three difficulty levels, from Casual to Hard. Wonder of wonders, our protagonist is a male for once! The story combines several fairy tales into one unique story, and throws a bit of clockwork-steampunk into the mix! There are 35 locations to visit,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short version: 82% Legend of the Snow Kingdom is hardly the most story-centric hidden object game on Steam, but thanks to its rich gameplay, it is still among the enjoyable ones. Long version: Dark Strokes 2: The Legend of the Snow Kingdom is one of those hidden object game sequels which has essentially nothing to do with the title it follows up, but like in so many of these cases, this hardly matters. There is a large variety in hidden object scenes and puzzles, and the game keeps…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In a nutshell: This one's worth a look. It's a nice example of the quality I've come to expect from Alawar games. The VOs are disappointingly sub-par, but they're still tolerable enough to play with the sound on. Pros: + Great art, as usual + Good variety of minigames and puzzles, some of which I haven't seen used in those ways before. There are a couple of repeat mechanics, mainly of the "move colors/shapes into the right spots" type, but their presentations were unique enough to not feel…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that takes one of the Fairy Tales (No... Not the anime!) and puts a twist on it... While following different characters. It's... Pretty darn good actually. Mostly because the Developers gave a damn and put a sheep ton of details and care into the game. Example: you can touch a yarn and a little kitty would come out and bat it. Or a lamp and a snail would crawl down. Things you never see nowadays in H.O.Gs. >.> The game is also not as easy and mini-games will make you work for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very commendable hidden object game. It's got the usual mechanics, it's well done, has no bugs or major issues, and the story isn't too terrible. The bonus chapter is nice as well. What else can I say..? I enjoyed my time with this. Some of the in-game achievements are really hard to get though -- I ended up not getting 100% because I forgot to manually set a mini-game's difficulty to 'Hard' at the beginning. Maybe an incentive to play it again, I don't know..? I don't think so, I have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a delightful HO game of high quality. Real fairytale stuff with witches, spells and heroes and heroines! Pretty run of the mill story, but the artwork is of high quality...quite stunning at times. It took me 5 hours to complete (includes bonus chapter). Some of the mini puzzles had no explanation, especially in the bonus chapter, so that adds to the challenge. Music was pretty, but the voiceovers could have been better. Highly recommend on sale. Enjoy the fun!! 8.5/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Game, finished it in around 9 hours. Puzzles and HoG were okay and fun, nothing too hard. The maps are nicely implemented, needs more than 1 run to get all achievements imho. The wild cat helping you out was a refreshing and new experience, compared to the most HoGs I've played. I give it 8/10 - they could have made the achievements in Steam, too...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a routine hidden object casual puzzle/adventure game with a fantasy/mystery theme. Solving various puzzles and hidden object minigames reveals the plot and uncovers the mystery. The game doesn't have proper widescreen support (but you can choose stretched or pillarboxed). Once more we see lowlife mobile devs trying to screw over PC gamers. On Steam, this is $9 USD, on app stores, it's $3. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good fairy-tale story and excellent presentation (especially visuals & music). The hidden object puzzles are frequently either too obvious (what you're looking for is RIGHT in front of you) or too cryptic (I wound up using the Hint function more often than usual). Still worth checking out for fans of the genre. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyed this game. My playing time shown is very low because I had to play almost all offline. I missed having collectibles show up on the map (on casual mode), but this is a slightly older game and those ones don't. The art is lovely, the story is very cute (and well-written), and the music is good. While I'm not normally a fan of too much "princess in distress", in this case (a) it fit, (b) the princess was neither dumb, nor uninvolved; and (c) the bonus story let the princess loose…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly good HOG, another which doesn't stop at the "let's just give a random list of items and the players will deal with it." To add to that, the voice acting is pretty good, so are the animation and you can interact with a lot of things in game which have no effect but makes the game more lively.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad hidden object / puzzle game. Visuals - very nice Music - nice, but incredibly repetitive, so it eventually becomes tiresome Voice acting - variable (The voice of the airship captain is especially bad.) Story - reasonably interesting HO puzzles - easy to medium. Each one contains a morphing object Other puzzles - trivial to easy except for a couple of harder ones Bonus Chapter - interesting and a little longer than usual Achievements - only in-game, no Steam achievements You can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Omg I just had an insane flashback to an old point & click PC game called Dark Strokes: Sins of the Fathers that I used to play as a little kid. In a couple of scenes there were these little bird scissors and I remember thinking how cute they were
unlabelledView post →Thumbs up! I think this is one of the better hidden object games. I liked the story and the artwork. I like steampunk and one of the characters you meet is a steampunk airship captain. There’s a mix of different type of hidden object scenes and mini-games. I didn’t like all of the puzzles, but this game has a built-in guide in case you get stuck. It’s a shame that there’s no Steam achievements though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thanks Lilly for the game! This wasn't bad - a 60/100 effort The good Bright, colourful world Reasonable music Tells a decent (if cliched) story A couple of clever puzzles The bad Don't get a HO scene till well into the game Puzzles are too easy Voice acting can be variable
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art is very beautiful even amongst HOGs, gameplay smooth. The HOG scenes done well - no weird realistic pictures shrunk to 1/10 sitting amongst 2d background, no pixel hunting so its relatively easy. Fast travel, journal, big hit boxes - all in place if you just want to go casual. They miss out some explanations on the puzzles, like what you are supposed to do. But you will figure it out, nothing too difficult. A long extra chapter too. Variety of type of puzzles. A story that weaves…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a decent HOG. Good graphics and sound. Fairy tale theme instead of the darker story of Dark Strokes: Sins of the Fathers. The story is trite and the voice acting is mediocre at times. The bonus chapter is terrible - don't bother playing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a nice well polished HOG that is worth playing pros. nice story bonus chapter ok music ok voice acting nice art ok game play time (almost 3 hours for the main story and more almost 40 minutes for the bonus story) cons very slow talking making it stretch the game play time kinda low resolution over all i really enjoyed this one i think it is really will be worth your time i give it 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short but very nice story
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty standard HOG, it's okay, get it for cheap. There are optional goodies to find in-game, but no reward for doing so, so not very important... There are no Steam Achievements.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros of this game: - Beautiful art - Soothing and lovely music - likable and interesting characters - an engaging plot with unexpected plot twists - fun and clever puzzles - bonus features such as a soundtrack, wallpaper, scenes from the game, an extra chapter, and the option to skip cutscenes - easy to read English subtitles and excellent voice acting - the option to modify how soft or loud the music and sound is - a skip button and a hint button for puzzles No cons I can think of.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the kind of game I like.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, but music EXTREMELY repetitive and annoying. Had to turn it down in settings because there's not enough dialogue or ambient sound to break up monotony of those same 5 notes over and over again ad nauseum. At the very least, can't they change the music from chapter to chapter? It was kind of pleasant at first, but got very old very fast. Aside from that, this reminds me of an Artifex game. Puzzles are not too challenging but are entertaining. Perfect for a casual game. Can't imagine…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/pymY_-p44sY Featuring a male protagonist as a rarity for this genre doesn't upset the apple cart as the gameplay loops play out the exact same. Most puzzles offer no resistance as players glide through this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very pretty graphics, but no true widescreen. At least the aspect ratio can be fixed. Game is rather short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun and short enough for a casual player.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one is an absolute treat, I was pleasantly surprised by how high the "quality" of this game is. From the graphics to the story, it was all pretty great compared to most other HOGs I've played. I'd say it rivals a whole lot of what AM puts out. First off, the art is really gorgeous and a lot of the puzzles were very beautiful, the HOG scenes too. I really loved how interactive the locations are, with some easter egg clicks and lots of animated objects. Although beautiful, be warned all the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little game. Starts of easy then gets to the "standard" difficulty. Plot is one of the best I have played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. Some twists and turns in the storyline that made me want to keep playing and the puzzles are a lot of fun! I really recommend this game, especially to people who like fairy tales.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →had a lot of fun, very beautiful and lots of interesting, different games for a HOG. wish there was a series of these

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very good casual point-and-click adventure! Though the story is cliché and the stereotypical characters can be grating (the English voice acting is very bad), the game is consistently loyal to its fairy-tale trimmings. It's long, with plenty of things to do, multiple locales, many beautifully drawn scenes, and nice little corners of gameplay and design. There aren't too many hidden-object scenes or puzzle mini-games, but those that are there are well-implemented and fine. A tight…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly recommend! Pros .Captivating, cohesive story .Fairy tale atmosphere .Beautiful, clean, clear artwork/graphics/scenes .Suitable music/sounds/voice acting .Three difficulty modes (no custom) .Mini-map with fast travel .Lockable toolbar .Challenging, Intricate adventure play .Variety of entertaining hidden object scenes .Variety of easy to challenging mini-puzzles .Offered two difficulty modes for each mini-puzzle .Lots of interactive elements .Collectables (snowflakes) .Morphing objects…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful game & storyline. I found the puzzles rather easy, but there were many scenes to explore so it still had enough substance to keep me happy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a beautiful game! I picked it up on sale, which was probably just as well as it is about 4 hours of gameplay. However, the story was interesting and kept me guessing, the art and music was beautiful, and the hidden object scenes were lovely to look at. The mini games were not challenging, but I did skip a couple out of tired frustration. I am really glad I bought Dark Strokes: Legend of the Snow Kingdom and appreciated the bonus content!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9/10 - A Beautiful Hidden Object Adventure Honestly wasn't expecting much when I picked this up on sale, but Dark Strokes really surprised me. The art style is gorgeous, everything has this painterly, fairytale vibe that just works. The story about saving the Snow Kingdom kept me hooked way longer than I thought it would. The HOG scenes are well-designed and not too cluttered (thank god), puzzles are actually interesting and the Collector's Edition bonus chapter was a nice addition. Voice…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mid - the music is repetetive, the puzzles are eh, the story tries to be interesting, but delivers short. If you really like Hidden Object Games, you might like it If not (or you haven't tried any), then I wouldn't recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i do like this seems i like most of alawar games thank you
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun hidden objects game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself was nice and fun, but the story was mostly the same of SIns of the father. The voices were sometimes too much and too loud, especiallly for the mic they used for the recording. The minigames wer pretty easy and the HOS too. Still i really like this style they use and the gameplay with the potions and the companion. Still a very predictive story even if you dont know the other Dark Strokes part. I can recommend it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad! A fairy tale-like HOG, a bit long, but lots of content. No regrets, would recommennd.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dark Strokes: The Legend of the Snow Kingdom is a charming hidden-object adventure with a strong fairy-tale atmosphere. I really liked the snowy environments and the darker twist on the usual fantasy setting. The artwork is beautiful, and the story does a good job of making you curious about what happened to the kingdom. The puzzles are enjoyable, although most aren't especially challenging. Some of the hidden-object scenes also feel familiar if you've played a lot of games in this genre.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good quality HOG. Nice artwork and settings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45030479/]🧩Undecided & Puzzled Reviews🧩Visit and follow my curator page if you enjoyed this review❤️ Dark Strokes: The Legend of the Snow Kingdom CE Has cloud save but no Steam achievements. The game itself does have achievements just not linked to Steam. Story so far is intriguing, and VO is on point (until the bonus chapter) The story goes along well up until 2/3 of the way where it makes you go "huh". It also has a few plot holes but there are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked this story. Took me back to the old fairy-tale stories I grew up on as a child.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This HOG is very well done and identical to The Dark Parables games (in a good way). Definitely worth the play through
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kiddie story simple, the puzzles are lacking, and the bonus just reuses screens from another hog.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →greedy price....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of bugs. The bonus chapter was actually unplayable because of a game-breaking bug on the second screen. The story is typical for a fairy-tale themed HOPA (save the princess!) with bad voice acting and nice art. The HO scenes and puzzles are the usual, not terrible but not great either. I have eight hours of playtime because I kept getting bored and doing other stuff while it was running. The most entertaining thing was probably the bugs that left steam puffing away even after the heat…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfectly serviceable HOG, nothing flashy, shows some age.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended. I enjoyed my time with this one. It is your standard fare with a B rated story and voice acting, but I felt the scenes and puzzles were well placed and interesting enough to keep me moving along. It's a bit short for the price, but I enjoyed it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a Hidden Object Game......
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very pleasant game with beautiful artwork and music. It is an point & click adventure HOG. The story has a touch of Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and King Midas. It has a female heroine, male hero, male villain, wicked witch, and a kitty (Lynx). You can't always be sure who the good/bad guy/girl really is! I like the variety of things to do: puzzles, mini-games, HOPS, interactive HOPS, ride an air ship, interact with adorable little animated theaters, and point & click activities…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this HOG. Loved the art and the voices are acceptable. There are achievements but they're not connected to Steam, so that's a let down. Also, you have to replay the game as a new player if you miss an achievement which means collecting past achievements again which is annoying (had to play 3 times as I missed some morphing objects). So if you want those achievements in one playthrough remember to play on hard mode. The scrolls and snowflakes aren't too hard to find but you can get…
LG…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. The story was good as were the graphics with plenty of speech. The HOG were not too hard although some of the puzzles were just time sinks. Quick travel is always a bonus. Be careful as there is a game launch crash bug, see my comment in the discussions page! 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be honest I wasn't expecting much from this game.... however....I found myself pleasantly surprised! A colourful and neat game with simple mini games that entertained rather than being stressful. The bonus game was a good extension to the story too. If you want a game to relax with, then this is for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has a game breaking glitch: If you don't take the basket buried under the snow before unlocking the castle gate, it will glitch the game out and not allow the scenario to proc. They allowed an essential item to be lost due to being required before the gate flag was triggered. Damn shame, one of the better point n clicks out there
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not enough classic hidden objects scenes. Without those, this kind of game is only a bad point and click with tedious mini games (especially bad in this one). Story: naive and simple but ok. Graphics: ok. Bring back the classic hidden objects scenes to the hidden object games, thanks.
