60 of 172 · most liked firstKickstarter backer here. It's pretty much a dead series (even though myself and many others were sold that it would be one whole game, but that aged like milk real quick). Latest "update" was in March 2024 saying they'll post more updates. What a mess.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →People seem to frequently hate on this game. I surprisingly mostly enjoyed my playthrough. However: I did see a couple of issues in there. The dialogues are enjoyable, the story is gud. I like the characters, the world design is neat. On the surface: It's a pretty good experience. But as others have said: It's quite short sadly. Sure, It took me almost eight hours to play it. But only one hour of that was the story itself. The rest was mostly annoying achievements. And I really mean annoying,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cyanide & Happiness - Freakpocalypse (Episode 1) is the first, last, and only episode of a 2D retro point and click adventure game kickstarted from the Cyanide & Happiness web comic franchise. This gets 10/10 for carrying the Cyanide & Happiness brand, look and feel, as you help out a mercilessly unfortunate schoolkid named Coop through a series of nearly surreal comedy situations. Yes, it does carry some Monkey Island vibes, and that's a good thing too. One of the things that most people…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →- Got this game the second is came out - paid $30 for it - finished within 3 hours - see a "to be continued" sign - go back to store page - see (Episode 1) next to it - know that it wasn't there before - unable to refund game Not only did C&H take 2 years to continue developing this game, which has no news of it coming, but they keep shilling patreon in their videos and keep asking for money. Just one big fat L.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Backed this game on kickstarter with the promise of a full game, but now its listed as Episode 1 and might as well be abandoned game. 2 years without any updates on here. the game is fun with good jokes but it's short once you get past the jokes. The Freakpocalypse Doesn't even happen till the very end of the game as it ends and promotes Episode 2
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay so, I rarely post these kinds of reviews, but right now I am at a point where I feel obligated to just say 'Screw it' and let it all out. To start off, I was a backer for the game, $55 tier, you can find my reward in the game, too, no joke, so I honestly had faith in the project as a fan of Cyanide & Happiness content, because it did deliver something I expected: Over the top absurdity which is faithful to the original source material. However, I also expected this delivery to arrive in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →$20 for 4 hours of gameplay at best. Six months with no updates or more content. Don’t waste your money, watch their shirts on YouTube. You’ll get the exact same jokes and will save $20.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only 1 third of the game. The rest has been abandoned. You don't even see the freakpocolypse, just the events leading up to it. Don't waste your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Project is abandoned. Story won't finish. Games to short for $20
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Almost everything in this game is clickable, with a touch, see and talk option, and is it grating as hell. Besides from most of it just being the same lines applied to most of it, it's not funny. The main characters voice quickly starts to get on your nerves as well, though the game is incredibly short, it'll feel like an eternity playing as him. Not even mentioning how this game doesn't even have most of the content it showed from the trailer in it, or how when the game released, they added…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yeah its pretty cool but important to know that the following episodes will be sold separately so you're paying over $20 for a 3 hour point and click. its pretty disappointing. you'll get an extra hour or so of gameplay if you go back in for jokes you missed but still it's not worth it. that being said, if you are a fan of C&H then you could wait for a sale if you really want, i still wouldn't recommend it though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would recommend this game, but seriously going on 3 years without even a trailer for episode 2. Save your money and buy something else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't play if you want the second chapter cause you won't. it's abandoned lol
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first it said Freakpocalypse but now it says Freakpocalypse episode 1 it was overpriced from the beginning but now its worst.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot recommend this game. I Backed the game up years ago on kickstarter in hopes to receive a full game. They made it seem like I was getting a complete game when it launches. Yet they pulled a 180 and said SYKE it is only episodes, and you only will be getting episode one for free. Episode One is really short, It has minimal puzzles and 100% NOT WORTH WHAT I PAYED ON KICKSTARTER. My Review might change depending on If the Kickstarter backers get the ENTIRE GAME Like it was portrayed in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is fantastic. It has the same humor from the comics and videos, and I enjoyed the plot. However, it's only the first part (which wasn't advertised well when I pre-registered for the game) and they want me to pay for the other parts?! No. Fun game, but definitely not worth the money I spent for only a couple hours of playtime.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs lied about this game first and marketed it as C&H - Freakpocalypse at first and then didn't at the (Episode 1) till a month or two down the line. It's a 7~8 hour point and click adventure that costs $20. It's not bad, but it's not worth that price. I'd wait for a sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Episode 2 will be released when dinosaurs come back to life, for your information.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marketed as a full game, not a part in a series.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically two years without a community update post, and even more worryingly, any kind of official acknowledgement that this is still in development. Let alone that the game as a whole even exists. - Contact Explosm direct and they just ignore you. Bear in mind that it's been nearly 3 years since episode 1 was released... Sad and depressing, but this has (yet another) Kickstarter scam written all over it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was a backer on Kickstarter and this game spent a ton of time in development and failed to deliver on most of the promises. Honestly, development went on long enough that I had forgotten about backing it entirely - much less how much they missed their deadlines by. All in all, I would be more forgiving if the game was actually entertaining... Unfortunately, that's not the case. The little bit of time spent playing would some of the most trivial time I've spent playing a video game. Cyanide…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →episode 2 coming never
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tried playing this again after 3 and a half years of letting it collect dust, I couldn't. There's no other episodes, this game was abandoned. Although I'm sure it has a lot of content, none of it gives anything you can't get by going to the Cyanide and Happiness YouTube channel or just playing a different game. This game feels more like something you'd put next to another game to make it seem better. Even if there was love for this game once upon a time, there simply isn't anymore. The stars…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed this game when it was on Kickstarter. As of this writing, the last update from C&H was back in March 2023. Taking this as a stand-alone, I do like the game. Some elements are "meh" but overall it's not too bad; I've definitely played worse. The C&H humour is all through the game so it is "on brand." But... this is meant to be part 1 of 3. Part 2 is nowhere in sight. Part 3... well let's not even think about that until part 2 is made, if ever. If you are wanting to get this game as a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright. I bought this game as a support for the C&H artists and I had been following the game for years. I buy it THINKING ITS A FULL PRODUCT and imagine my surprise when I get a "this is in episode 2 dialogue" mind you the game was originally called FREAKPOCALYPSE not (Episode 1). So I play other games, get into some good mmos, play other things, get obsessed with other things. And imagine my surprise when I see my steam and see FREAKPOCALYPSE is getting a episode 2..... Eventually. It's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Price isn't great but not outrageous. According to the game's director as of March 2023 episode 2 is still in production. With that said it's been so long I can't trust episode 2 will ever come out. I can't recommend this game to anyone when it's incomplete with a chance of never being finished. It's been over 3 years and the only thing we have about episode 2 is an interview saying it's still coming. Update: Episode 2 is officially back in production. I will change my review to positive when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't enjoy playing it, perhaps I'm too stupid for point and click adventures. Game has become semi abandonware, if there ever will be an episode 2 it's either been abandoned or you will be charged extra. (This was not said at the time I had purchased it)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disappointingly Short for £15
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, I didn't want to have to do this but I've lost my patience not only waiting for episode 2 but with experiencing episode 1. This has to be one of the worst examples of a point and click game I've ever seen. FIrst off, it's irritating how for whatever reason, everyone in the whole school either tolerates Goob or hates his guts for no reason. I know it supposed to be satirical but this is too much, it may work in a short Cyanide & Happiness short, it doesn't work in a full game. It just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game it is fun and I enjoyed it! I would not recommend it as the original release date was March 2021, and as of writing it is Feb 2024. Currently there is no "trilogy of tragedy" that was promised.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game when it released back in 2021 and ever since then I have been waiting for episode two. The game itself was good, entertaining, and had potential but sadly episode two never came. As you can maybe imagine that was a total bummer. People who bought this game was promised a full series but instead got scammed with only one episode and nothing else except for a few insignificant updates. So is this game worth buying? NO!!! Not at all. It has been a little over 4 years since the game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember buying it when I was promised a full game and later it became "1 episode", sometimes I check the page hoping for something, but C&H are real scammers. The game is fun but not worth the money spent and time spent in it, especially after the scam..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Contributing to a Kickstarter project is and always will be a gamble. And we got 'something' for it. However when a company who has built up the trust of many many people abuse that trust by simply abandoning the project less than half finished it's more than simply saying, "I guess that was a bad investment." It's personal. And far more like theft. You'd better hope all the people who have paid into this failure, but also into OTHER projects, forget that you've essentially stolen their money.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It´s worth a dollar... nothing more funny humor.. boring to play and worst of all unfinnished. This sad excuse of a game plays like a trailer or teaser. UNLESS they give you the other episodes for free. I would not recommend buying it. You are better off watching a 1h Youtube let´s play. But the menu music is enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →saddd no episode 2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is your daily reminder to not pre-order games or Kickstart projects. Explosm, great with their web-comics and Youtube series, not great at writing for a game. The game plays like a Southpark: Stick of Truth clone, but at a much more reduced capacity and with no combat. Most of the comedy comes from call backs to established bits and characters. I had played the game when It came out, got stuck at the Love Connection side chore, not being able to find a quarter (at the time very small and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't a very good game. Years ago when I first backed this project on Kickstarter, I was excited to see two things that I liked a whole lot coming together (those things being C&H and Point and Click adventure games). Sadly, the product that I was given nearly three years after the projected release date is a poorly written, incomplete mess of a game. The writing is VERY hit or miss, the story just doesn't feel like it has any cohesive sense of direction. The art is standard C&H fare, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Impossibly many items to click through, and every one of them has to be clicked 3 times!! And unfortunately, even C&H can't keep the level up, given how many voice lines you have to go through
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this ♥♥♥♥ is a stain on my library
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was extremely excited to play this game. Loved cyanide and happiness. That said Don't buy it's very short. Having it in episodes is insane. Just sell the full game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember being pretty excited for this game when it was released because I loved C&H. I didn't realize it was going to be episodic when I bought it, so after thoroughly enjoying the first act, I was a bit let down to find out that I'd have to wait on another part. I loved the game enough that I thought it was worth the wait, and I'm still waiting 4 years later! Thankfully there's been updates from the team so hopefully we'll see the second part sooner rather than later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead game, no update in over a year and on the discord keep stating an update is coming starting to sound like George R. R. Martin
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Millennial Humour: The Game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the Explosm crew, I've been watching their stuff since the early 2000's on NewGrounds. But.... This entire game just feels like an intro mission.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks nice in a south park stick of truth sort of way and there is humor that...exists but honestly the only other time time I felt I got this scammed was puzzle agent 2 and that one had actual puzzles.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy this. Frankly, this is as much of a disappointment as you'd expect from what C&H have become... There is nothing original in this game. The voice acting is fine, but the tag line that everything has a unique voiced response is a complete lie. Yeah, most characters say something, but it's vapid, uninteresting, and ON REPEAT. Cooper says the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for most of the things you're encouraged to interact with to pad out gameplay. There is basically no challenge in the game,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →shame no full episode. Project would have been fine if nothing happened....but with these indie games and the indie animation. Things wont go as planned.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's far too short for the price. The side quests feel extremely underwhelming only giving you a cosmetic which you can find randomly in places. The main character gets s-talked so much by nearly everyone for no real reason its just depressing rather than funny I will say at the end it alludes that he will get some benefit at the end. You can examine everything more than i seen in most point and clicks but it ends up being a detriment when your trying to figure out what to do sometimes I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun humor and I love the references. but frankly it just wasn't pulling me in to keep playing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pretty cool game and if you are reading this you are a nerd and mabye even gay
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember buying this being promised a full game, massive let down by the C&H don't endorse them
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i really like the original cartoons but i just couldn't find anything funny about playing it as a game. it's basically a barely interactive cartoon which stops at certain times and you have to find out where to click next to continue.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GIVE US PART 2 IT'S BEEN 5 YEARS! Last update was June 2025 y'all said you're expecting a 2026 release date....well it's June 2026. Halfway through the year and nothing?! Be a bit more transparent. We went several years without a single word on the development and we get 1 update 1 year ago basically just saying yes it's still coming out but in 2026......for some reason I doubt that. I'm so beyond frustrated. Please just give us an update. Loved this one. We NEED PARTS 2-3. Yes this was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game was good, mislead by C&H tho.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love cyanide and happiness but this was a miss for me. the jokes were bleh I should've listened to the other reviews. i tried to play it and give it another try but its still a miss a week later
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games been out for some time but i finally was able to get it on sale XD. Over all the game is fun for chapter one. Wising/hoping more chapters get added as this game has a lot of promise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I like Cyanide & Happiness, I can't recommend this game. Not only is it too short for what you are paying for, but it's also episode 1 of a 3 episode game series that looks like it will never be completed. If you want to try it out, I would hold off on getting it until it's on sell or when they have completed episodes 2 & 3.
