Don't buy this game - it includes unstable anti-cheat software The game itself is fun. It's an interesting turn-based roguelike with lots of unlockable items to alter and improve subsequent playthoughs, with plenty of additional content to unlock. At least I suspect it is. The bug-riddled anti-cheat protection bundled with it consistently corrupts my local save file, uploads the corrupted version to the steam cloud, then crashes my PC, wiping out all progress. Maybe you think you'd just…

The game's concept is great, and the design is simply magnificent. However, unfortunately, the randomness and monotony of the process of collecting optimal builds significantly reduces the value of the entire game. As a result, it turns into a drawn-out and tedious routine, where luck in the build becomes the main factor of success. This is especially acutely felt at the end of the game, where the dependence on luck becomes especially noticeable. This deprives the game of all its advantages…

Not deep enough to be a good strategy game, not exciting enough to be a good action game. Crown Trick lands in this weird no-man's land and generally just feels uninteresting.

Contains spyware. We should not be surprised though, its Tencent after all. Annoyed that the steam front page does not mention this. Could install a custom firewall and simply block it, but why? Found out too late, will never play this again ... What i can tell after 5 hours playing though: It's cute, certainly. But it is slow, i mean it is SLOW. Disabling all animations would cut playtime by 80%. Think Nethack with every move taking a fixed 3 seconds. Its really hard to sometimes…

Honestly I was going to give this game a positive review but after playing a bit more and encountering many bugs and really stupid design decisions I cannot. Are you a fan of losing progress for no reason? Well this game got you covered! You can receive a debuff right before a boss fight that will make you lose gold and soul shards (the game's meta currency between runs) based on damage received. Considering there is no way to avoid receiving damage from bosses due to how the game is designed…

Here we go again, another game that on the surface has a lot of polish, mechanics, items and unlocks that should, in theory, get me hooked on a dopamine treadmill. But welp, it devolves into spamming the same attacks and abilities over and over for the vast majority of every floor, with barely any interesting combat decisions to make during any run. And its many colorful icons, over-engineered dopamine-releasing sound effects and permanent character unlocks can't hide this repetition. I…

Honestly just mad at the missed potential of this game. All they needed to do, and I mean this literally, is fix a few small things and this game would be a hard recommend for everyone. It's so approachable, generally fun, gets you thinking. Has loads of fun items and weapons. But they stopped updating the game and left all these baffling choices in place. - It's a strategy game that doesn't tell you the actual values for half of the stuff in it. - There is no tooltip for many of the…

I tried. I really tried. I bought this game when it was published in 2020. I was so looking forward to it! But it was just not what I expected and I refunded it. 5 years later I see it in a Steam Sale for 5 € and I think I might give it another chance. At first I was optimistic, as I learned the mechanics more, than last time and I actually made it easily through the first act after two attempts. But, oh boy, this game is getting annoying, the further you venture. One can tell, that it lacks…

This game is quite cool—not insanely good, but it does the job. I had a broken build: an armor that reduces damage by 3, a sword that causes both you and any enemies you touch to bleed, and permanent invisibility. The strategy was simple: hit the enemy once, go back into invisibility (5 turns), and then spam "x" to pass the turns… GG. First time against Vald, I won like this!

The best thing about this roguelike dungeon crawler is a pair of enemies that reference Bioshock. Apart from that, the soundtrack, visuals and the elements mechanic are alright - but everything else just feels like it doesn't work. - Boss fights feel poorly designed; as in they don't allow certain builds, they take a long time to get through and every now and then you'll get caught off-guard by an instant-cast skill that ends your run. - Item balancing is all over the place; as in some…

Excellent art style, good replayability, big content, funny enemies, great main mechanic. Only downsides are - sometimes, there are so many events triggered during a single turn that you don't understand what's happening, and why you're either winning or loosing. - certain bosses require very specific builds, so you don't always have the luxury of your playstyle

Crown Trick is a good game. It has good graphics, decent gameplay, and some fun ideas here and there. It does some interesting stuff with terrain effects, including interacting terrain effects. Tonally, it reminds me of a slightly lighter-hearted Slay the Spire. You can attach various minions (two at a time, with 2 spells each for a total of 4), use a variety of items, perform challenges, and swap between weapons with some interesting core and random effects. I like that it's turn-based, and…

Overall, I think Crown Trick is a pretty alright game. The artistic and enemy/boss designs are great. But there are a lot of pretty obvious typos and confusing item/relic descriptions that make it difficult to know what exactly is going on at times. The combat mechanics were pretty great. Kind of like Superhot but from a top-down perspective. Being able to jump around with the blink was great, but bosses seemed to always have enough health to run out all my charges. Some runs it felt like you…

GEM! This game felt like fairy tale, the plot is nice, the combat decent, so much variety in the playstyle. The characters introduced are all so likeable. The music in the main menu is special, the whole soundtrack is solid. The only regret is the ending felt a bit weak, it did not give an ending to the mc.

I’m giving this game a positive rating because it is a solid roguelike. It’s challenging, offers a good variety of weapons and abilities, and keeps you on your toes. However, it’s worth noting that with just a little calculation and observation of enemy patterns, it becomes pretty easy to figure out which weapons are the best—and their effectiveness isn’t always tied to rarity. Relics, on the other hand, can be true game-changers. That said, the game has its frustrations. Runs can be ruined…

What a disappointment. While the pretty graphics and the new mechanics show there was love and effort put in it, the game also shows it was either rushed to release or abandoned. Way too many things are in dire need of QA testing and play testing. The moment to moment gameplay is impaired by UI issues, annoyances that slow down gameplay, and poor or missing documentation. Meanwhile everything in the game is deeply unbalanced. The dungeons and bosses are unbalanced, but so are many of your…

As I booted the game for the first time the intro animation reminded me of one of my favorite roguelikes from back in the day called "Torneko: The last hope", although this game is not like that one, I did enjoy it. I think this is the most conflicted I've felt about a game in a long time. CrownTrick is an interesting modernization of classic roguelike combat, where every granular action counts as its own turn. On one hand, GOOD GOD this game is so frustrating sometimes. im not too far into the game and haven't completed a full run, so take this review with a grain of salt if you have experience with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon or played the Bard in Crypt of the Necrodancer, you should have a general idea of how this game plays. and it's a very fun concept! i enjoy the sorta puzzle-like combat loop of trying to find ways to get breaks on everybody to keep a "circuit" going and boost your damage and keep your blinks up, but often that system isn't possible during…

The game's beautiful artistically and mechanically (at base), but it's plagued by poor balance. Like many tactical roguelites out there, it unfortunately trends towards a few very dominant playstyles and relies too much on RNG. I'd still recommend the game since it's pretty fun, just not for $20. Also, skip the dialogue/story; it's passable at best.

Crown Trick is a Nintendo Switch game that's been ported to Steam. It's an unusual procedurally generated hybrid pathing puzzle game and lightweight RPG as you use your Nintendo Switch controllers to move around a grid. Monsters move after you do, in turns, so each turn you decide to skip, move, attack, etc. Careful planning is required to know when to move, when to attack, how to minimise your exposure to enemy attacks etc. However, just because the idea is "novel" doesn't mean it's a…

I absolutely regret even spending five hours on this game. How can this miss the mark on ALL the games it's borrowing from? Gungeon, Dead Cells, Necrodancer. Roguelites. It is borrowing so strongly from all of them but makes the sort of mistakes you only make when you fail to understand why their inspirations did how they did it. This just looks and feels so uninspired. The way the enemies move up and down their predetermined path and ignore you until you attack them makes it feel nothing like a roguelike, but more like a puzzle game. A cheap, mobile puzzle game. Also, why the hell does a game like this need a currency/upgrade grind? I hate to be so negative but I just really don't get for whom this game exists.
