Great controls, interesting missions, challenging, fun and in-depth. Warning: it is OLD and it shows. It really does. It's not an easy game either. I recommend it with all my heart anyway edit: 2016 is ending, and this game keeps me in not-suicidal spirits. IT'S SO GOOD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I still remember playing this game in 2005, a truly epic helicopter flying experience. Graphics in this game are just great and enjoyable for its time of release (2001). Gameplay combines simulation with arcade controls, missions participate on many locations were action is both on ground and air and voice acting is realistic as gameplay, which is just incredible and amazing. For me 8/10 for this nice classic sim. This is Griffon 2-6. Review completed. Returning to base
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →COMANCHE 4 Comanche 4 is quite OLD and it shows. It really does. But for a 2001 game, it is to be expected! Still, I had fun playing this helicopter simulation. The game is quite challenging as if you get destroyed, you have to restart the whole mission. Thankfully (or not), the missions aren't very long and you can beat the game under 4 hours, sadly. POSITIVES: +Interesting missions. +Tight controls (plays very well with Keyboard and Mouse). +Gameplay is great! +Authentic and very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the crap out of this game as a kid. The disc broke years ago, so when i found it on Steam I had to try it again. It is every bit as awesome as it was when I played it as a kid. Awesome gameplay and campain. Definitely reccomend this game despite its age. Works surprisingly well on windows 10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Comanche 4, at its heart, is a turn-and-burn type of game, armed with then state-of-the-art 3D graphics engine and good terrain. However, gameplay is shallow, you're overwhelmed with enemies, and often, you fail a mission for no particular reason that you can see, as you are totally lost with no situational awareness, and even the high kill count doesn't help you. Enemies basically comes in two types: enemies that shoot missiles at you (more threatening), and enemies that shoot guns at you.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a great game i remeber when this first came out in 2001 and ive still got the case for it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very educational. I've already learned that I should never be given control of an attack helicopter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Flight controls and movement definitely not realistic but that's what makes it fun and easy to fly. Flight physics is done much better in Helicopter Rescue 2014 but that is a new title so it's kinda an unfair comparison. Why is it not realistic? Well turning the helicopter is like turning in an fps shooter; there's hardly any inertia or sense of weight. Ahh but who cares? it's a game so it's gotta be fun more than it needs to be real right? Yeah it's fun, landing is easy peasy, no wind drift at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although I still prefer Comanche Gold for its more realistic approach, Comanche 4 is a fun action helicopter game. Forget everything you learned about the controls in Comanche 3, just use mouse and wasd in this game... It plays like a "shooter in the sky" (that's a quote from the cover of Comanche 4). If that's your thing, go for it. If you prefer flight sims, go for Comanche Gold. I've done a comparison of all the Comanche games since 1992, including the latest one from 2021, so you can see…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game shows its age, but it's still a nice chopper sim
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic experimental helicopter game where you destroy everything. Nice fluid controls and runs great on my computer!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first i was thrilled to find this game on steam still available so i bought it out of nostalgia. What a mistake, the missions are short and are either a walk in the park or a complete train wreck where the enemy has more AAA than the NVA had and you are overwhelmed by the amount of missiles being shot at you. That's the easy part, its even dumber when you have to escort a friendly that has no clue that they shouldn't go first. Wish i refunded before i spent 2 hours playing this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Comanche 4 is a fun nostalgic assault helicopter simulation game spanning 31 varied single-player missions. The game runs the same engine as the earlier Delta Force games and feels a lot like it, but this time in a Comanche helicopter. The game is not super-realistic, but that makes it fun to fly around and blow stuff up! If you enjoyed Delta Force or are looking for fun helicopter simulation game and don't mind it being an old game, then give this a spin.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does not work. every option people have recomended -does not work- windows 10 is to blame and i will not justify trying to run it on a VM. if you have an older OS already i can cleary say try it. but if you are a win10 user avoid at all cost because it will just be DOA
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Comanche 4 put you in control of a RAH-66 Comanche military helicopter gunship. As a RAH-66 Comanche pilot, you were assigned to various anti-terrorism campaigns, ranging from escort missions to search and destroy missions. The gameplay was a mixture of simulation flying and first-person shooting, creating a unique mechanic that few games have tried since.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tons of fun, and still runs great on Win 7 x64. Max resolution is kind of low, but overall graphics are still running fine. Comanche 4 is an enjoyable mix of fun and realism - realism to an extent that you can jump in, figure things out quickly, then play a few missions. There is no flight model, so there's really no steep learning curve. The only thing a player needs to practice is detecting anti-air and learning how to use cover to engage. I miss Novalogic, and I wish they would give some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OH MARVELOUS!! AND THEY GOT IT WORKING ON WIN 10 AND 11 TOO!! I love this game!! I remember playing it back then. Its mostly an arcade Flight sim But its cool! They also have a level editor for replaybility If they have Comanche 3 or 2 please post it and rig it up here too! AWESOME!! RATING 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →17 years have passed and this game is still best in the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly recommended! Yes, the graphics are dated, it is a 2001 game after all, but the gameplay is awesome. Personally I play with the keyboard and mouse instead of a joystick. Once you get the keyboard commands down, it is just a ton of fun. The missions will have you coming back for just one more. You'll find yourself flying low and dodging missles in no time. Use the terrain to mask your approach, pop up and fire your rockets, then drop back down before the enemy can react...there just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome, I played this game a ton when it came out in 2001, it will always be my favorite helicopter game!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great helicopter sim ever based my opinion. Easy control, so we don't need have a lot time to play well. Just remember some necessary button, so we can fly and launch hellfire to enemy bunker. :),
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →was playing this on disc back in 2001... loved the game back then but was able to pick it up 15 years later on Steam... not ever done a playthrough like the days on my old WinXP Rig so will sit down this week and play it through the campaign missions... 10/10!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games made by Novalogic apart from the Delta Force franchise, although Commanche 4 is tough to get running on modern computers its worth the effort, you get to commandeer an attack helicopter and you get to play through many different locations around the world, the missions range from destroying simple stationary targets to aerial combat situations. Wait for the sale to buy this game 8.5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pretty awesome! When I was a little boy, my dad gave me Comanche 4 on PC. I really really love this game so much. Last day I lost this game when I was a kid. From now on, I'm playing Comanche 4 on steam forever.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There arent options for throttle, pitch, or roll, and I was hoping to use HOTAS. :( Beware if you have a joystick. The only movement controls are basically raise/lower elevation buttons and move foward, back, left, and right; might be good for a controller. Wasn't able to get into it 'cause I was disappointed about this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. I like it's fast-paced gameplay. In fact, I think this is an exciting flight shooting game. The player doesn't need to avoid enemy radar detection. The only thing is how to avoid incoming missiles and destroy the enemy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh this brings back some happy memories, I am not as good as I used to be, obviously I am old and slower now ! ! ! Still love it !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game, but it's just too flawed and frustrating to thoroughly enjoy. being a game from 2001, it also has some issues running properly on modern hardware, but with the help of some tools(dgVoodoo to be exact), but once that's up and said, it runs fine. Obviously it looks dated, but does decently with the Graphics, units and models do stand out and you have a clear way of knowing what each enemy is. landscape and enviroment looks fine, but it just looks too "smooth" and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before I bought this on steam, the last time I played this game was probably 2003. This is one of the biggest nostalgia trips I've ever had.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best game from my childhooood!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this game has gotten some undeserved bad reviews. Comanche 4 belongs to a really rare breed of game. In 2001 it was one of the best action-air combat based game and it was one of the last playable helicopter battle sims for a long time with Apache AH64 Assault. This game doesn't have a long learning curve like the older flight games, and while the graphics are not perfect, it is still a good and fun-to-play game. While it is less realistic than its predecessor Comanche 3, the gameplay…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh my, this game is just epic. Controls are unrealistic, but this is just too much Nostalgia.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Second best thing in the world right after Comanche 3 :P
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →worked for an hour than died dont get if u have windows 10 ps. ♥♥♥♥ WINDOWS 10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't remember the last time I got so giddy over smooth game controls. Honestly, I had very little interest in Helicopter simulators growing up. I recalled seeing Comanche on game shelves back in the day and the boxart featuring explosions and burning tree’s wooed me until I realized just how many buttons would need to be pushed just so I could take off. And I REALLY wish I did pick it up, because this game plays like a dream! I bought Comanche just recently alongside another helicopter…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is not goot. At all. Not a simulator, poor graphics, even for a 2001 game, the control is horrible, the graphics is horrible, simple, not even close for this game predecessor, Comanche 3... THAT was a simulator, even today standards that is a good game, this... this game is a Crap... the pictures here not representing the simpleness of the terrain... So sorry, this is not a good game, it is not even close for the previous game... Note for the people who complained about this in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even now this is a fun game to play! Works great on Win 10 64bit and the graphics are still pretty good for it's age.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It got old, and it was not so good back then.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best, yet. in my genre of action with helicopters. this is nostalgia and yet theres no game came close to this fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic. You can never go wrong with it. Such a shame Comanche helicopters were not mass produced due to budget deficit.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of the entire Comanche series, Comanche 4 is the worst performer, it has not aged well at all. That recent Comanche game that came out in 2021 or whatever doesn't count since IMO that game is not even part of the franchise. Comanche 4 is way too arcade-y and relies too much on quick action, in your face missions that are often time sensitive. Though in honesty all the Novalogic Comanche games are like this, but Comanche 4 takes that whole practice and multiplies it by 100. The missions…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know, this is my favorite helicopter game, there is even physics there! Even when you enter this game, you understand how cool it is. There are many missions, and you can pass them, well, this is logical. The reflex needs to be excellent, if there was no auto-aiming - then playing it was many times more difficult. Missions are not monotonous, but varied, since it would be interesting for you to play Comanche, where is the same mission? Well, here I am about the same. You can play over the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pure nostalgia. An awesome classic from the early 2000s. One of the first games I ever played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The multiplayer via Novaworld is long dead and taken down. But this game is still quite enjoyable. If you have a joystick, it's even better, but very enjoyable with a keyboard and mouse.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →similar to gold and better in some ways, I miss that music but at least I can play now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played all of the Comanche series and this is by far the better one. Comanche 3 was Way Too Complicated (unless you LOVE helo sims. This has a nice balance of flight and fun - great graphics and the missions are fun. I liked it a lot! still do.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic, bought out of nostalgia, still great fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game sort of reminds me of those apache simulator PC games, and I remember how hard it was playing those, but this game however is much easier to play with either a joystick or keyboard. This game also reminds me of Army Men: Air Attack and Air Combat, because you always blow stuff up while in the air with machine guns and missiles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its incredibly dated and clunky. Flight sim games are few and far between so I am usually willing to overlook a lot, but this is a bit too much. Move on.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first played a demo of this game which came with a GeForce 4 graphics card. I thought it was fun back then in 2002 and I kept playing it occasionally even in 2008. Now, 13 years later, I remembered this thing existed and found full version of Comanche 4 on Steam. Pros: 1. Militaristic feel to the game. Still somewhat immersive. 2. Explosions looking good. 3. Distant explosion sound travels across levels, that means you don't hear explosions instantly when they happen a mile away. 4.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rest in Peace RAH-66 Comanche April 1991 - Feb 23, 2004 If you've ever wanted to feel the intense fun of a helicopter pilot at a reasonable price, this the perfect game. $10 for a ton of missions in different locales fighting enemies from KA-27s to patrol boats with an array of fun weaponry. From your 20mm cannon to the AGM 114 Hellfire, you're going to have fun using all of them. My only real complaint would be that the gunner view doesn't get the classic FLIR appearance that many people…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to play this game back in the day. Now is just as fun and as good as I remember. I use an Xbox controller to play, and it makes game play easy and more fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old good Comanche
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a gem and the reason I bought the NovaLogic Collection in the first place. The game surprisingly enough holds up really well. Gameplay, controls, sound and even the graphics are still really good and only need a remaster since the maximum resolution is only 1280x1024. Some missions are hard, but mostly pretty short (I guess around 5-20 minutes each), so losing isn't a big deal. Time to complete: almost 4 hours
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple game, from 1998. One of the best of the kind, Too bad the genre wasn't that much explored back then by other companies. Today, it is still a good game to enjoy by yourself, it's old graphics doesn't really take out the fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IT's a great interactive heli sim that requires a lot of awareness and strategic application of resources.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Friendly fire is funny
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved this game. I had it on CD and still keeping it. Just a bit of scratch here and there. Thank you Steam for the digital version
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nostalgic game!! It was great back in the days and I bought it to rebuilt these sweet memories. Not the best graphics since the game is old obviously! But the gameplay is really fun and the chopper mechanics are very real and the game controller is very user friendly. So enjoyable to shoot bases down with your chopper using missiles!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played previous versions in my youth...LOVED IT THEN LOVE IT STILL.....one of the best flight sims ever up there with the falcon series...glad to have it back time to break out the old Microsoft force feedback 2 and splash some bogies
