Circuit Breakers is a 1998 racing game developed by Supersonic Software and published by Mindscape for the PlayStation. It is the sequel to Supersonic Racers. It was the first (and possibly only) PlayStation title ever to receive expansion packs through Demo discs released with Official UK PlayStation Magazine. A remake for the PlayStation 2 was released in Europe only under the name Circuit Blasters in 2005 by… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

If they hit the Circuit Breakers tomorrow then everyone on CNBC has to wear brown paper bags over their faces like it’s a Cleveland Browns game. If they hit it 5 times tomorrow then Jim Cramer has to commit Sepuku on the floor of the NYSE

This game was reviewed using a code sent by the developer/publisher. Circuit Breakers is an arcade retro shooter, developed by Triverske, releasing in November 2015. There isn’t really a story to this game, it’s completely focused on the gameplay, as I would expect from an arcade title, so don’t go into this expecting a deep thriller backstory. The gameplay concept is very simple; you pick which character you want to play as at the start of the game, these are based on what weapon you use,…

Circuit Breakers is actually* a recruitment tool developed in the 25th century. In the future, rapid advances in Artifical Intelligence will lead to robots declaring humanity "an obsolete by-product of a forgotten age" and also "really disgusting". If left un-checked, this menace will wipe out all that we hold dear. Don't be surprised if some guy named Centauri comes to your house, ranting and raving about your hi-score in a twin-stick shooter. Just be aware that this man will have you enter…

I am not going to say this game is bad. In fact, it would be ok if the price was lower (no more than 3 euros). PROS: + Up to six players playing together in local coop. + Gameplay similar to Smash-TV (ahhh, nostalgia...). + Easy to play. + Fun for a quick break. CONS: - Very simple: graphics are poor, they lack detail. - Gameplay is not rewarding: you always start from zero. - No online coop. - Analog gamepad sticks work as digital sticks (only 8 possible directions). - Very similar levels.…

A pretty stupid basic straightforward twin-stick shooter in futuristic square rooms. A clone of 'Smash TV' (1990) arcade game. What you see on screenshots is totally what you get, no more there. Several characters have to run around and crowd-control abstract evil robots with different gunfire types. Achievements are marked with ticks in an exel-styled table. It's intended to look and feel oldschool and it does, maybe too much, Animation effects look nice, though this along with highscore…

4.0 Update! The most recent update reveals this game is not going to ever improve, and has been abandoned by the devs. None of the deficiencies outlined in my review have been corrected. The Energium system is still broken AF, and the game is completely bland and buggy. Circuit Breakers is a game I watched eagerly, waiting for improvement which never came and never will. Avoid - and do not buy even at heavily reduced price - the game is not good and never will be. 3.0 Update! Saw the new…

I actually write reviews for a website, and the guy who runs it, RedHill, gave me the game for review purposes. Thanks to him for the game! I'm not very vocal about this, but I'm actually a big fan of top-down shooters and bullet hell games. That being said, I don't play them very often. That's why I took the opportunity to review this game, to see if it would scratch an itch left untouched for years. After playing for a few hours with friends and myself, I think this game managed to scratch…

This game is fun from the get go and never stops as hordes of enemies get bigger and faster, pushing the difficutly to somthing you haven't seen since the NES era. Get ready to shoot some robots with some of the craziest weapons you've ever used!

Inane. I can't remember when I got this, but I do remember I got it for free. If the game itself was currently free, or much cheaper than it currently is, I could maybe recommend it. But as it stands, I can't in good conscience recommend Circuit Breakers at this price. It's a bullet hell where you fight in futuristic environments against evil robots, which sounds fun enough, right? There are two strange design decisions the game makes that sink it for me. The first is the very odd control…

This game feels disgustingly incomplete, and boredom is all too quick to settle in when playing for extended periods of time, as you just wait, and wait, and wait for the challenge, grinding away at trying to get everything the game arbitrarily locks away, such as the challenges, or the characters behind their wave-defense mode. The music may as well be royalty free and I would remember it no more. Prepare for such classics as rock tune number whatever as you destroy waves upon waves of…

Played this game at EGX Rezzed and got a physical copy of it right there. Honestly, I love me a good top down shooter and this one is incredibly good! I remember hearing someone compare it to Smash TV and honestly I think thats a great comparison. Controls are responsive, the mechanic of trying to not go crazy with your shots (as the guns work on an energy level system so if you shoot faster than you can collect the energy your power suffers as a result) and its honestly a lot of fun overall.…

This game is probably one of the best games on steam that throws you back into the SNES era of shooters. Not so much gameplay wise as much as graphics wise and sound. Simple and fun. This game is very much like Smash TV (SNES game released 1991) enemies everywhere minus the power ups, but power ups collected through crystals that enemies drop. More you kill the more crystals you get the more powerful your weapon becomes and the more you kill the more enemies appear getting harder and harder…

It broke its own Circuits. I know the studio behind this game personally and I was really looking forward to some fantastic robot destruction. Unfortenately, that's not Circuit Breakers, or at least that's not what Circuit Breakers became. Originally, this was to reach a certain kickstarter funding in order to become the game it had intended to be. Since the kickstarter campaign was a flop, this game took a massive hit, and became only a shell of a good top-down shooter.…

Smash TV clones like this are accurately fast-paced and brutal, and keeping up with the hordes is always a challenge. This game's main failing is how hard it throttles the player. Essentially, it uses a single resource as both ammo and experience, which means if you shoot your weapon too much it will get weaker. You can do a "bomb" to clear enemies if you get swamped, but this consumes the same energy. Essentially, the harder you have to fight, the weaker you will get, and it's not easy to…

It's... not good. The menu controls are odd as hell (WASD, E and Q? What?) and the only time you can use the mouse (and ONLY the mouse) is to set controls. After picking a character with E you need to press ENTER to start... cause that makes sense. Ingame then it's not that much fun to play. Doors are on all sides and no advanced warning off spawns, so stay off the sides. Problem is, levels are EXTREMELY small. Pickups are time-limited... but often stacked near explosive crates, so you can't…

Twin Stick shooter where you kill robots and every once in a while a boss appears. This game will get old after 10 levels of the same thing. The gimmick to this game is the more energy you collect the bigger your gun gets while at the same time firing costs energy. This isn't a very fun mechanic as a lot of time even if you are collecting energy with your pathetic pick up radius it'll routinely switch back and forth from two different levels of gun. One thing I hate about some twin stick…

Pros + Variety in characters and levels + Pixel graphics + Shooting feels responsive and requires ammo management... which is how I like it in top-down shooters.
