At first the game appears to consist of a mindless walking forward, jump ‘n’ shootin’, and picking up weapons/ammo, you’re having a grand old time. But then you realize that doing kills you real fast later on and fun’s over, if you want to get further, that is. Graphically it's simple, but when ammo and bullets start flying you'll start to wonder what is friend, foe,…

Had most of these people who gave the game positive reviews actually played it for more than a few minutes, they'd realize that this game is only playable for the first level. After that, it becomes nearly impossible because the player is continually confronted by impassable waves of…

To be continued #indiegames

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Sidescroller fun :) The first levels where kinda easy for me, I play many Retro "Run 'n' Gun" but then it started getting challenging and I have to use my Old School skills to beat the levels. Nice game for Pixel Art lovers :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Orangepixel games front page on Epic Game Store (Android).. Space Grunts, Neoteria and Gunslugs! Go check em out if you STILL haven't played them. Classics and fun! #indiegames
unlabelledView post →Yeah, really wanted to play this one on Steam... played this game a lot on our TV in the two-player mode (Pascal needed some one to test it with) but now I have to do it all on my own. I loved walking through Gunslugs 2, just found out that Gunslugs 1 is a lot harder, but I will manage.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't remember when I got this one, was years ago. Don't look at my playtime, it was probably to farm for steamcards. This game isn't any good. The gameplay is mindless shooting, the graphics are extremely busy and ugly I can't tell the enemy bullets from the explosion particles and the pixel diarrhea that is going on, the sound effects are very basic and broken, (if two same sounds play at the same time, they will play at double the volume and clip). Overall not polished at all. Like I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great side scroller game with increasing levels of enemies to kill and silly weapons like chicken guns! It's challenging and alot of fun! I like it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a very nice game, worth some time-wasting. In this rogue-like game, you have to defeat the "Black Duck army" by destroying beacons in randomly generated levels and kill their army. The gameplay might not be unique (see for example Expendabros), but even with the pixel graphics the game looks very decent. The music and the sounds fit to the 8-bit style of the game. The controls are a bit... "unique" and not customizable unfortunately, but you get used to it. All in all, this is a very nice…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun gameplay, good controls, awesome music! Gunslugs really nails that oldschool arcadey feeling, which isn't that easy to achieve. The random level generation adds replayability, but isn't perfect. Sometimes landmines will pop-up in places that are impossible to avoid. It also may be a bit too difficult for some players (me), but may be great for those who like a good challenge. As the positives massively outweigh the negatives, this is a definitive "Thumbs up" for me.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Poorly made, repetetive and not much interesting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am not a platformer game fan and the only game of this kind that i feel good was metal slug. This game is nothing like metal slug. It is too messy to dodge bullets and the graphic makes it very dull. The 1st boss was so easy I did not notice any attack from the boss although it take a while to take it down.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat little game, like a simple version of Contra. The controls are a little weird but you get used to them. Gameplay is challenging and somewhat rewarding with several achievements to chase after.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will put it simple. A silly fun run and gun game. At the beginning it's easy making you think I got this and then it gets challenging.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good run & gun. Would be cool to see a DOS port in the spirit of RcR DX
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After further testing, we could only get Gunslugs to work on a Series 1 Genesis without added peripherals, and on an atGames Genesis. It would not work on any Series 2, nor on a Series 1 with the 32x and Sega CD attachments. Our best guess is that this homebrew game runs afoul of Sega’s TMSS
unlabelledView post →It's a pixel heavy ripoff of older, better arcade games like SNKs Metal Slug from 1996. I'm not sure how it's possible to rip off a game from the 1990's in 2015 (almost 20 years later!) and come out with worse graphics, but Orangepixel somehow managed it. Less content, worse graphics. Gameplay is okay but gets repetitive almost immediately. Fans of the genre would be better off just playing Metal Slug on an emulator.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I... what, no, just don't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awfully repetitive combat and a terrible UI control scheme. Game progress resets when you press B twice to go back to main menu. Z or X skips any secret level cutscenes (or the whole level itself, I'm not sure), leaving you to wonder what your gold coins were used for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You die once, you start from stage 1. This game is very generic so it cannot warrant extended play so this got uninstalled pretty quickly and I also uninstalled gunslugs 2 before I even played it. Hopefully this dev never makes another game again. The main problem the game has is that generally speaking it is just really bad overall. Just worthless garbage. I think I got it in a bundle or something. Who cares. 9/10,000

Released in 2013, the game channels the spirit of classic shooters like Metal Slug and Contra, offering players a chaotic, fast-paced experience filled with explosions, enemies, and creative weaponry. Its accessibility across multiple platforms, including PC, consoles, and mobile devices, ensures that fans of retro…

unlabelledView post →A short, yet fun take on what would happen if you mixed Contra with Jetpack Joyride. Very fun experience. My only complaint are that some achievements seem bugged (get x number of coins/kills). Otherwise, it's a fun, simple time killer that would have been better on mobile, but works great on PC.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super great side-scrolling quick shooter. You are running right shooting everything that is moving and creating total mayhem. There are different weapons and methods to kill enemy. Also lots of achievement and secrets to uncover. All together - fun fun fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To qualify this review I do need to tell you what types of games I'm typically used to. More along the lines of first person shooters with at least decent graphics.I haven't played something quite this pixelated since the 80s. As a matter of fact I honestly think that they took some ideas from Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros, and I'm not even certain what else. But, that having been said, I think they definitely has some potential here. I like the concept they used with incorporating other…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the chaotic action and old-school feel of this game. The pixel art style is great, and the non-stop run-and-gun gameplay is incredibly addictive. A must-have for anyone who enjoys classic arcade-style shooters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very addictive game, have lost a few hours to it in the past few days since picking it up. Would definitely recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most janky explosion hitboxes ever. Also you are blocked to make only 3 sidequest per mission and that makes the game HELLA tidious. Also forgot to say:sometimes visual explosions registered as real explosions and I died more than 10 times at the end of the game because of this. Screw Two Way weapon.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Sidescroll Shooter Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Missing SFX. Poor quality sprites. Barebone animation. Spam oriented encounter design. Auto-firing foes. Less refined than NES Mario. There are a lot of quality sidescroll shooters with a cartoon military dressing on it. Gunslugs just botches too much to really get in that bracket. The game feels phoned in with linear boring level design, lots of drops that negate any sense of consequence. Bullets that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Both poor execution and poor representation of a side-scrolling shooter (too much noise on screen and it takes forever to kill you for all enemies, except for one-shot land mines). Lazy. Rubbish. Don't bother.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →repetitive pixel platform shooter
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is fun and i've bought it twice (ps vita and now steam) but pressing the pause button in this version twice quits to the main menu so it's a bad game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →stupid game! Different control Layout for 2nd Player, Stupid control layout (XBox Pad) (B Button for menu)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to enjoy this game. The game makes you pick up coins, ammo, and health packs (which are just small for you to notice), and you can buy power ups during the stages to help you. But every time you die, you go to the beginning of the game, however, rescuing new characters gives access to the stage you rescued them, but since the characters are mostly the same, the stages keep getting harder and you will not have enough coins to buy power ups, the logical answer is to replay old…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I won this title I thought to myself "this is probably horrible" BOY I was wrong. Got sucked into the game (was big on these kind of games in the 80's)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and Addicting. Fast paced side scroller shooter. Graphics could use some more detail, biggest gripe is that steam achievements cover 1/4 of the gameplay screen almost., probably due to this most likely being a mobile port to PC, which also may attribute to the blockyness of the characters. Besides the graphics and resolution issue, the game is addicting and fun.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review i gave the game from Orlygift - Its very addicting. Nice blend of 4th wall with the extra characters in bonus dungeons. Was only going to play to review it but i may try to finish the game. There are lots of improvements to be done though Need to have options menu for jump to space bar. died too many times.. Coins disappear too quickly. If you intend to kill an enemy near the other end. you wont be able to get it back.. The text hurts my eyes...need an option to have clear text
