60 of 114 · most liked firstBest Month Ever had all of the ingredients for a great game... but it's not one. SPOILER HEAVY REVIEW The premise was interesting and already gut wrenching to think of but I don't feel that the developers really wanted to make a game centered around what the game proposed it would be. When I heard that Best Month Ever would be a video game centered around a single mother trying to prepare her eight year old son for the cruel world, I imagined nuanced discussions and experiences in which…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid attempt from a Polish team that unfortunately misses the mark. TLDR: I bought this game on sale for under $8, and even then, I don't recommend it. You can see a lot of passion went into the story and the idea for the game is great, but the controls are really wonky, its attempts to confront racism are clumsy, and the dialogue is often bizarre. More detailed explanation below. 1. Racism: There are scenes that attempt to address racism in America, while other scenes seem to reinforce…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best Month Ever is a narrative-driven choice game, set in 1960’s America and created by Polish developers. It is supposed to be a game revolving around a desperate mother’s choices for her young son, where every decision shapes what kind of adult he becomes… but instead it is a ginormous mismatch of tragic events with no real discussion, choices or character development. This ultimately results in an exaggerated story with no emotional connection. Pros Features many “taboo” topics.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thanks to Klabater for providing me with a copy to review Best Month Ever! Best Month Ever! starts with a well-narrated prologue, where the player is introduced to the choices system. Our son Mitch has 3 stats, Righteousness, Confidence, and Relations. Your actions as Louise, his mother influence the ending of the game. There are 9 endings. I wish these choices we make changed some parts of the story, but unfortunately, they don't. It's similar to Telltale's game design in terms of how much…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one was a very tight call because I don't believe this is a bad game and I sense there will be people who love this game and for the first hour I was really enjoying it. Unfortunately I hit a point where I realised my choices didn't really make a difference apart from the end of game cutscene. I even deliberately failed one of the quicktimes events to see if it would change anything and no, I just got put back in to try it again (this time without even having a timer). The story itself is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Me: Copilot, write a script for a point and click adventure without a single puzzle, with a story that's just a sequence of stereotypical late 1960s Americana held together by a threadbare plot-device, a bit like Forrest Gump, but edgy, like if Quentin Tarantino wrote it. Copilot: Ok, here's a story about a road-trip of single white mom and her young mixed-race son, set in 1969, whose black dad skipped out on he-. I am sorry, but I cannot discuss this further, let's move on. However, if you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OMG This was a totally amazing game! You know those reviews when people say they cannot understand anyone else's negative reviews? Well I'm using that card now for this game! It really isn't a walking sim or movie. It's definitely a game. The closest I can compare it to is Road 96, but instead of branching narratives, it seems a bit more linear, but definitely not claustrophobic or as if choices don't matter, because I believe they do. It's an unbelievably rich adventure that takes you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best Month Ever is, for me, quite a mixed bag. To my knowledge, it's the first major video game release from Warsaw Film School, a cinematic arts college. The result, perhaps unsurprisingly, is most successful when it's being like a film, and least successful when it's being like a game. The central premise of Best Month Ever is that you are a single mother Louise travelling across the rural 1960s US with your son Mitch. A number of significant events are encountered, and how you decide to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun & interesting enough game, from what I saw, but there's one pretty glaring issue which means I'm not comfortable recommending it in it's current state. Without spoiling anything, the start of the game (within the first hour) feature pretty heavy themes of sexual exploitation (in exchange for money) and child sexual abuse. The game does not warn about this in the store page OR in the otherwise distinct pre-game warnings. It was pretty jarring and I'm not going to continue playing it until…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can happily say this will be one of my top 5 point & click games I've played so far. Your choices decide Mitch's future! With there being multiple different endings it temps you to give it more than one go. The story line was gripping, lovely art style & really enjoyed the voice acting throughout. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwCUyQDw-c4&t=2820s
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have to say i really enjoyed this game, i wont babble on but i would say to anyone out there its well worth buying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a wholesome adventure. I appreciate the developer taking care of all the details and creating such a great story rich game. I only played once and super excited to see how the choices you make change the story. Here's my full playthrough with ending #8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=istsR86zSEA

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best Month Ever is one of those games that starts off strong, but then it gets hindered by its progression, things feel rushed and the choices you did make changes one line at the end of the game, voice acting also got little weak, if you want a story game made by a indie company, try Tell Me Why, its currently free for the month june
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interactive story + good pacing/graphics + characters you love/hate = Roll back to the 1960s with Vietnam war, jazz, blues and more. If you enjoyed Life is Strange, this is another interesting one. [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35180752-3-point-play/] Follow our curator for similar games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a great concept, but it was not executed well. The chapters are short; the dialogue is horrendous, and I in no way felt sympathetic or engaged with these characters. The voice acting was honestly the worst part. The controller mechanics were also slow; it would be better to play with mouse and keyboard. Overall, it's not great, and people should pass up on it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10. Good story, though sometimes confusing, but the characters have depth. Only gripe in the pacing, its more dialog than game play, so if you can't stand that don't get it;
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I first saw the trailer for Best Month Ever! It reminded me of two well-known films with a certain resemblance: The Help and Green Book, well that was my immediate association and yeah, it’s somewhat similar. Almost everything we see in the game is a collection of old memories from our narrator, eight-year-old Mitch at the time, who recounts a road trip he took with his mother Louise years after the Emancipation Proclamation of 1963. Still, the story touches on racism, abuse and life…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was fun, but far from perfect. I'd say it's worth in the $5 to $10 range. It's a very puzzle-light point and click adventure game, comparable to TellTale's The Wolf Among us in terms of mechanics. Unfortunately, the "hot spots" that you're supposed to click on are unreasonably small, and only activate when you're near the object in question. Let's say you want to talk to the two men sitting at the table at the diner. In most other point and click adventure games, the hotspot would be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mechanics are everything in a game like this and at every turn it felt like the mechanics were hindering the storytelling experience. Everything here feels clunky. The pacing, the voice acting, and especially the controls. I really wanted to like this game but I think this one is a skip unless you find it on sale. I don't think it was worth the $20 I paid for it sadly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Took me 4 hours to complete, i'll say the story of this game is really captivating and interesting, you really do wonder where the game is going to go next and how it will end based on your choices Now as good as the game can be it also lacks in a few other places, mostly textures not appearing or background appearing out of nowhere, characters popping out of nowhere, dialogue repeating itself over and an overall mess to look at. All of those combined together leads to the immersion that this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best Narrative Game Ever!? This game has 12 levels with a good variation in stories and actions. It also has 9 different endings. Normally I can not play narrative games very long, but the story of this game was so good that I needed to finish it. I finished the game in a bit less then 4 hours, but the 9 endings give the game a long replayability. When playing I did not get any bug or other problems. Once another great game by a Polish developer. This video contains chapters:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the idea is great, and there's serious potential present, there's a certain amount of jank that just keeps pulling me out of the immersion of the story. When it's just a cutscene being a little funky it's fine, I'll appreciate Frank moonwalking out of a certain flashback, but softlocking because I walked through a door not quite far enough despite the cursor not particularly liking the depth in this game just really kills my buzz. Sometimes the non-point and click is also a bit jank, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst month ever for repetitive the game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game so far, I've achieved one of the endings. I just hoped that there were more choices and options.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very poor quality propaganda
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Game is so good So I just finished my first play through and even though I feel I got a Fairly good ending It was so hard to play. By the last few chapters I was bawling my eyes out and I don't think I will be ready to play through again to unlock the other endings. Loved the story though and It was a great game. if it wasn't so heart-wrenching I could play this game through so many times without hesitation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OMG, Best Month Ever! - what a work of art! I love the entire life choices and example you set for Mitch as you play-though the game. This however does not mean this game is not without its issues/flaws, the main one for me is that there are no graphics controls and if you have anything under a NVidia 1080 GPU don't bother as the game will not preform and will run your card 100% or worse melt it down!. So for me the game is AWESOME with issues. So I would totally watch and wish list Best…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent story which is entertaining throughout. The dialogues are well written and voiced beautifully. The controls are not good which is a let down for this. Graphics are very poor and animations are slow. Overall enjoyed the story, but did not like the game-play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really looking forward to this game, I played games that really succesfully manage to tell you a story, and feel you are part of a grerater overall theme, time and place. Suzerain, We, the revolution had this meshed really well with gameplay mechanics that where incorporated to the whole overall experience and feel. But this is, sadly, not the case at all. Its so devoid of any player imput and clearly a product of people who are really familliar with film, the lighting and the camera…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually discovered this game when I came across it on TikTok. The premise of the game excited me; seemed like it may be a great game with deep lessons and themes. While at times, some of these lessons & themes come through; it falls flat of actually teaching. Perhaps it's my fault for having that expectation of the game, but that's how it was advertised on the video I saw. So I took off the blinders of what I expected and realized it wasn't that bad of a game... until the direction with the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not crying, you're crying. I first learned about this game, when I stumbled upon a pre-release trailer, and a playthrough of the first location. The premise of the story in itself is quite intriguing: A terminally-ill, single mom is looking for a future home for her 8-year old, mixed-race son, in racially-prejudiced 1960s America. Even though it's not a type of game I usually play, that short story introduction was enough to pique my interest. I've been waiting for the release ever since.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →wow this game is an absolute gem, stumbled across it by accident it feels a bit like a telltale game with great storytelling, sad and shocking parts to the game. i'm already hooked :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short but sweet. I loved this game, the story is so wholesome yet so jaw dropping at times! With so many different endings/replayability I'm excited to come back to this game at some point for more endings! Beautiful art style as well!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, like for real, play it. You will not regret it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really do like this game it touched up on a diverse family and the challenges that we can have today as well~ The story was bittersweet and the experience with the characters was really nice & can be emotional sometimes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is more of an interactive story than a game, there are occasional dialogue choices and a few quick time events but most of the time you just check through the story. Having said that it is a really interesting story and I was keen to find out how it ended. Whether I will go through it again to find the other 8 endings I am not sure. I finished it in 3 hours so it is a short but memorable experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game only takes 5 hours to play but I enjoyed those 5 hours very much. The 9 endings gave the game long replayability. When playing I did not get any bugs or other problems.

unlabelledView post →There's sooo many things wrong with this game. Most of our choices don't affect Mitch's personality the way we want them to and as Louise we really don't know what to do, so we mess up multiple times. Even if we're trying our best not to... But, in really life we also don't know what to sometimes do and our actions affect our life differently than we thought they would. So i felt really connected to the game even though it made mad some of the times. Also the first 11 chapters was fine but last…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not brilliant as the walking dead S1, but not bad either 7/10 UPD: Just found the album of Best Month Ever in my library which comes for free with the game. It's mf gorgeous! If you have two digit IQ at least and you don't really like to listen to s-it, you must listen to these songs! 11/10 I haven't been as delighted as I am right now. For your understanding, every week I check YouTube Music to find some new sounds. The only thing I found so far was expired sh-t of hippo that ate too much…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m glad I played this game. It’s still kind of sitting with me right now. I think the game quality is very good. I really wish the game was longer. I wish there was more at the end to wrap things up completely and I wish there were longer breaks between each disaster. The subject matter is serious and could be triggering for people. Imagine every kind of bad thing that could happen to a woman and/or a black child in 1960s America, mostly in the South. It all happens (and maybe more) in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thoroughly enjoyed the play through of this game. It was an amazing story and I would love to play again to see the majority of the endings. While there are a lot of topics which were not really for an eight year old, the built in mechanics did help mature Mitch through the game quickly. Some chapters really got into the backstory, while others felt, short, rushed and a bit lacking. I finished in just under 3 hours. Overall a very good story game. I would highly recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a really good game!! it's very fun and the options are very different.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s the classic "it could have been great but.." kind of game. The narrative is powerful and carries the whole experience, but there’s something missing - that spark that would have made it unforgettable. The choices matter, but only up to a point, unfortunately. My verdict is still positive, though, because I can’t help but see a bit of myself in this fierce yet fragile protagonist... and that made it impossible not to empathize with her. Anyway, the FULL price remains hard to justify.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is short and the story is very linear (the choices only change the post-story ending), but it fulfills the role of entertaining for a few hours I started playing without expecting much and I was able to have fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love simple point and click mechanics when a game is meant to be enjoyed for its story! And a heartfelt, tragic, lovely story it was <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, my first run I just picked what I would've picked if it was my own kid and got governor. the graphics are pretty good too for these types of games. Over a great game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoy this adventure of a game! Art style was really gorgeous and there was never a slow moment. Wish it wasn't so short because I was hooked from the start and with also that being said the price might be a wee bit high for the length of the game. As far as replay value I feel like I wouldn't want to go through it again to get other endings, would probably just end up watching a video it. But none the less great game! 8/10

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game for story gamers. I liked the choices because some of them were intense. A short 3 hour game with moments where you can tear up. Would recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A beautiful and terrifying fairy tale about coming of age
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice and original game and journey, definitely something different than most titles.. ending brought tears to my eyes.. If you look for a good story without many annoying puzzles or irrelevant choices this game is for you. Story is not very long but you will immerse in it and enjoy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderful game where you experience the last month a woman has to live due to a disease that is terminal and her pursuit to find a home for her son. I can see this not being everyone's cup of tea, and that is ok! But if you are a fan of games like Road 96, I believe you will have a fun time with this one too! It's a point and click that focus a lot on the relationship between mom/son and how they learn to grow and experience life as time moves on. There isn't much tension or moments where…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an amazing game! The story captivated me throughout the whole experience and I was very entertained through and through. Although, the worst aspect of this game is the voice acting in my opinion, Louise is good, but most other characters sound like they're just reading off of a script, not like they're actually talking. HIGHLY recommend though.
