60 of 72 · most liked firstThis is a decent time & resource management strategy game. Each of the 30 levels contains 2 or 3 timed sub-levels. The story was typical, but well-written. The game is not very difficult, so don't expect brain-bending challenges. There isn't much replayability unless you're going for all gold stars. It took me approximately 5 hours to complete the game, but that included pauses. If you really enjoy casual games like I do, it's worth the full price. Otherwise you might want to wait for a sale.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is best time management game I've ever played. Usually such games are just boring, but in Ballad of Solar, if you play on Hard and trying to get all gold stars, you need to think and react really fast and there is just no time to be bored. Well designed, lack of bugs, really good piece of code. But also one thing is missing here: achievements. VERDICT: If you a fan of time management games, this is for sure one of the best! You can buy and play it, it won't disappoint you. If you a hard…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Ballad of Solar is a time management game that tells a campy, amusing and cliche fantasy story, with an impossibly handsome knight, an over-endowed princess clad in a skimpy toga and buffoonish wizards, who despite their incompetence are not quite worthy of being in a Discworld novel. Pros Amusingly cliche story that laughs at itself Map designs and pathing is clever Amusing animations and art NIcely integrated resource management system Cons Some frustrating additional requirements…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brief Synopsis Ballad of Solar is an extremely casual "click everything until the level is finished" game. It's labelled as a strategy game, but really there is little in the way of strategy here. In a nut shell, you travel from one level to the next. Each level has different goals to reach; once you've reached those goals you move on to the next level. Long Review Story: An evil sorceror has overthrown the kingdom and taken the princess captive. It's up to Solar (the princess's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short version: 86% The simple but cute fantasy fairy tale storyline really helps to keep this time management game interesting, despite its strict time limits and somewhat repetitive levels. Long version: Ballad of Solar is a time management game (mostly in the veins of the 12 Labours of Hercules series) made by Buka Entertainment, a real seasoned veteran in the casual game industry. The game follows our titular hero, Solar, who valiantly works his way through cursed mines, forests, and towns…

The Game Review Game Visuals I want to mention that the visuals in the game are well done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu. Game Audio I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well. Gameplay There…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While not at all what I had been expecting, Ballad of a Solar was an enjoyable game none the less. There is just enough strategy involved to make even the easy difficulty require some planning to succeed instead of just clicking as often as you can. The levels are also short enough to serve a nice distraction if you are just after something quick to casually goof around with. The graphics are mostly still images, but well designed. The plot is amusing and hits almost every cliche possible…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Ballad of Solar" is a Time Management/Strategy game in which you also have to collect resources. The graphics are very nice and the character's are cute...however the fairy's laugh is annoying to me! The storyline is a cute one and there is some cheesy humor from your character's. What make this game a little different from others of this genre, is how the levels are designed! There are either 2 or 3 parts to each level, (depending on the level) and when you finish 1 part your screen will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ballad of Solar is a very simple game with very simple mechanics, but that doesn't mean it's not fun to play. Ballad of Solar is an epic of a pampered prince who is trying to save his girl from the evil's of a wizard. The gameplay consists of 2 or 3 maps per level. Each map is a static board that has roads leading to objectives. Each objective is blocked by trees and rocks and holes. You need to manage resources to preform the task of clearing each object. More simply put, you click stuff on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello friends, Today I will review the game Ballad of Solaris. Do not expect a long game. This is mainly a time management game in same genre as the 12 labors of Hercules or rescue heroes. The game is very short, but fun. It has a difficulty setting if you find the game too easy, the player can change it to increase how hard it is. Certain missions are also time sensitive, so players may have to rush thru certain maps to fulfill objectives. This game is only for keyboard and mouse, no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the casual time management space, it is hard to be noticed. Games and series seemingly pop into stores at a moment notice, fully realised and ready to be enjoyed by a public who cannot get enough. Whole websites are devoted to these click based games, where the management of resources against a timer will provide a form of accomplishment which is only slightly belittling. For as much as they bring new gamers to the fold, time management games, at their very essence, are a little insulting as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically, clicking simulator. No tought put into it, nothing. Your only role into this game is to click on things in order for them to dissapear from the map. You click them, they dissapear, you get to the next level. And i'm not oversimplifying, that's the game. It's a dumbed down version of Farmville. Voice acting is silly. I don't know what the "story" is about, as i didn't had any pleasure into following it. Probably something with kings and mages. It's definetly a game made for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Point an click story. This little title has something that keeps me coming back. Maybe the cool graphic style? Maybe the story itself? Maybe the gameplay? Maybe the ogre that draws in his spare time? Maybe the fact that i get to play it with one hand while I sit lazy in my chair? Maybe ... maybe you should buy it. Just saying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Casual time management/strategy game. Not quite as polished as the "12 Labours of Hercules" series, but still a fun little time waster.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable game, casual, fun but nothing extraordinary. Good time waster, good for one run... buy it under a sale and enjoy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thumbs up! I’m not a big fan of beating the clock in time management games, but you can ignore the timer and just play through the levels. You've probably seen the basic idea before. Send workers to get wood and stone and food. Chopping a tree gives you more wood, but uses up some food. This game has a fantasy theme. In addition to generic workers, you get a troll and a magician helping you. So, if there is a large boulder in the way, you can send the troll to smash it with brute force. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short casual experience. The voice acting is terrible, but if you can overlook that you will have a good time. I finished the game in about 5 hours and theres really not any replay value unless you want to go back and get all the stars for finishing the levels in a certain time. Overall I recommend it, just dont expect any grand strategy game. Its something you can pick up very quickly and is a very casual game. Probably great for children too. Grab it on sale and you wont be…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really a point and click game more for kids then adults. The story is kid friendly and the content isn't really that challenging. You don't die and there isn't much machanics to the fights. More of a collect stuff and conquer to play through the levels. There is a time limit and the only way for losing in this game is not finishing everything before the time runs out. I would give this game about a 5 out of 10. If you have children that play on the computer this game would be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was very cute. The gameplay reminds me of the kingdom for my princess series. The strategy aspect of trying to finish all your tasks before the time runs out is fun but there are no consequences for not making your time limits. It jjust gives you a silver star instead of a gold star. It's a very casual game. I would completely recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some other reviews tell that this game is designed for kids, true. They also say BUT finishing every level perfectly takes some time, not true. The game is pretty nice and I personally decided to put the harder difficult on after finishing the first level. There were exactly 2 levels which I wasn't able to finish in time to get perfect result on first try. The game also repeats itself pretty hard and bringing some new character into the game now and then won't really do much difference. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good casual game with nice graphics and voice acting. The gameplay is very simple and kind of repetitive. Play it in Heroic Mode if you want it to be more challenging. It's kinda ironic that I wasted 20 hours playing a time management game. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A well presented time and resource management game with surprisingly good voice acting. The split level system was unique for the genre with levels split between two or three parts, and if going for gold stars, each had to be passed, failure on the third part meant having to go back to the first part again, which was a tad annoying tbh. Overall, if you've played the 12 Labours of Hercules series, or the Rescue Team series, you'll probably like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game for the little one's with kids:) I got a granddaughter who wil love this:) Finished it in about 3 days (work included) and will play it again some day:) Went to home page web site & will play more of their games (bookmarked page) not a lot of blood & gore, & a great way to teach problem solving so it is great game for kids:)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game for a price. The genre has potential, and one hopes that future games in the genre are stronger in the strategy department.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like a good facebook game, without having to plague your friends with help requests.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Artwork is cute, and the gameplay is tight and easy to pick up and play for what it is. It's a perfect diversion in small bouts after playing bigger games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good game with a good story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ballad of Solar is just a generic time and resource management game without anything special about it. There’re 30 levels in total that will take some hours to complete, a generic story and gameplay mechanics, with meh graphics and music. There’re also 2 difficulty levels for the entire game. Now, the game isn’t bad per se, it’s just that there’s plenty of similar games on Steam and even on the web that are a bit better. Still, a decent game if played casually, on sale, and if you like the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it! Wasn't what I expected but i enjoyed it. I liked the spin on the genre, nice to see a bit of a story added in. I especially liked the way the levels are set up. Voice acting was pretty good. I enjoyed hearing over and over "it's time to move on" I wish I could make that my ringtone lmao. Anyway it's super easy I struggled very minimally, and that's only cause I was mindlessly clicking everything without thinking hehe. I WOULD RECOMMEND if you want a super casual easy game just to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so much fun, and it is beautiful. It is pretty relaxing even when timed. I got this game in a bundle or on sale so id definitely reccomend that because it is kind of short. I wish it had achievements because it would be fun to work towards them. I really like the art and I would like to find another time & resource management game that is as pretty or more so~ I had a blast playing this game and I could see myself playing it again in the future.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice little casual game, i hate time management games (aside from the Hurcules series), but this one actually allows to you turn the timers off and play it as just a casual little resource game. Wish al time management games allowed that mode...i'd buy more of them..lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: Simple, sweet way to while away a few hours without stress. Easy on the eyes and ears. Unquestionably worth sale price. Full review: Cute. Simple. Amusing. Very high quality production values: zero bugs, high quality art (if a bit cliched, the iron jawed male hero and impossibly thin female characters are a bit much) varying from merely competent to lush and lovely. The music is nothing spectacular, but fits the scenery and mood properly and isn't intrusive or boring. I happily let it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Altough short, this game was really fun! The graphics are lovley handdrawn picuteres and I was suprised that the game was fully synchronized. A pity that it has only 30 levels. I would enjoyed playing at least double of that without getting bored.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Skip. Only my rule of finishing a game I've purchased kept me going.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is so simplistic that calling it casual can even be considered generous. I debated giving it a thumbs down but even though it's simplistic to the extreme it's not overly boring nor tedious. Just click and move along. Some of the screens are very busy and that is what will lead you to miss the pattern and thus you won't always earn all the gold stars. But once you finish the scene it'll be so obvious that there's little incentive to go back and redo the scene. Don't be fooled…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a simple but enjoyable game with extremely basic mechanics. I would recommend it for children. Though I am sure an adult could find a challenge on the difficult setting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great kids game not to hard and voice overs make it easy to understand.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very easy game for kids.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best time management games I have played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Generic time management game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cosy little no-brainer. I like having short, discreet levels. Reminiscent of Northern Tales/VikingSage/Roads of Rome etc; standard storyline that I mostly ignore, a little bit of resource management, a few specialists to do different tasks, clear goals, boom & on to the next level.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, simple time management game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ballad of Solar 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game on sale to try to continue on from the 12 Labours series which is so much fun, but this game was a let down. With bad voice acting and a story line that makes absolutely no sense, I was already taken out of the experience. The levels are also sometimes illogical, and I didn't like that you had to click the item once you had discovered it to add it to your inventory before progressing the level, as this wasted time when you were being timed. There are no achievements for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not real big on this game so far but it just seems I need to get used to it as it's a little different than Gnomes Garden games and what not. It's more like the MOAI games where you have to hover over things as they drop from what you build. I picked it up for like $0.69 and I wouldn't value it at more than a dollar at this moment in time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended for game farming
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice casual game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think that it's worth a try if you're into this genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly recommended if you enjoy casual time management games. This was a pleasant surprise. I didn't really have much for expectations, but was greeted with a well put together time management game. It has nice graphics, fairly interesting locations, voice acting and just felt like a good overall production. It is your standard game of this type, but with a few of its own tweaks to the formula and it is driven by a cliche but interesting enough story. The main cons are lack of real challenge…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →more of a puzzle game get this first then more to this, but still a fun lil solo game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very simple yet enjoyable game. Rather short, yet it is the perfect length for this kind of game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Clicker - Cooldown Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from LIbrary TLDR: Fundamentally the same as 12 labor of Hercules. Just offbrand. Dull and repetitive. Not fit as a sit down in front of PC entertainment titles. Mindless clicking.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like a casual time managment game this one is not bad. I did find it fairly easy even on hard. It does have a cute little story to go along with it which gives it a more interesting aspect, I also enjoyed how your party grows during the progression of the levels. I would rate it a 7/10, lower mark for the easy play really good for casual players.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I throughly enjoy this and complted after few days :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: + Wait for sale. + Install the game. + Idle for cards. + Sell the cards or forge a badge. Everyone happy! + You become eligible for booster packs. Cons: - You have to wait.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, this was a really short game. It only took me 4 hours to finish it. Not many card drops and no achievements. Glad I did not pay full price for it. Besides that, it was a challenge if if you like games that time you to compete tasks. Many of the levels I didn't make it and ran out of time. So, if you like casual games that time you this would be a good choice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The usuals time/resources management games from Alawar, nothing new. But it's an enjoyable game and if you play with time limits and going for 100% gold stars it even gets a lot tactical and much more difficult, a real challenge. Having no task queue, and the pause window hiding most of the screen, even if slightly annoying add a lot to the challenge and the fun, too.
