30 of 30 · most liked firstAfter playing most of the Afrika Korps campaign I must say that I am positively impressed with this game. Short Story: At first glance this game may look as just another Panzer General clone, in reality there are a number of well designed features in the game that offer a lot more options for stategic decision during the campaign. Potentially the game has a solid re-playability value. More in details: Unit customisation. First you can buy battalion or brigate size units which have…

With the Gamersgate 20% discount and a few "blue coins," I bought the game for $20, and after about four hours I am happy with it. However, if one is pretty sure they will NOT be using the editor, at $30 it may be a tough decision. Once again, the file management required to use the editor is not well-documented, but it works like the dev's first game. I would be happy to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Agreed, the game could be prettier, and could use some more animations. Also I'd love to be able to zoom in a bit further. Playing on a 27" screen definitely helps. Last but not least, the tutorial is really minimal. But hey, we all know why we're here, aren't we? This is not a game for the uninitiated after all. If you're a fan of Panzer General and the like, you should feel right at home here. But beware - this game can suck you in and never let go. All of the unit customization options in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where Panzer Corps failed to bring Panzer General feeling, here they suceeded. Its shame, its Afrika, side theatre, plus like the others already mentioned, misses lots of content, missions etc. You got editor, true. Not sure its enough to bring comunity fast enough. Looks good, plays good. Its worth it, imho.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a Panzer Corps like, but with a campaign structure much better handles on my point of view. The campaign is really nice, but short. The price is not so high, so the game keep its value, but still, I would like to see much more content with a longer campaign.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the team might be small but i just expact more from a game in 2017. in 1997 everyone would have bought a real generals game from SSI if this game would have been available by that time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was hoping for a decent turn-based wargame when I bought this. I'm a big fan of Panzer Corps, and Panzer General before that but didn't expect Army General to be the same but did expect something in a similar vein. Army General takes an age to load for no obvious reason. Once it loads I can't comment too much on the gameplay as it fell at the first hurdle. The units are way too small, making the game unplayable. How could the developers not realise this and at least provide an option for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is really a meh for me, as the game has some really good features totally offset by some big cons. It is worth it if found for around $7 or so, but I definitely would not pay more than $10 for it/ Pros: -Brigade(50) and Division(100) size units -Ability to attach support companies to units to specialize by adjusting certain unit stats -The leader system that allows spending resources to get different level leaders -These three add a really nice dimension and strategy layer to the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its ok game a little overpriced i would wait untill on sale if you can But the games allright
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent game in the old Panzer General vein of hex based wargaming with (during the campaigns) a set of core units that can be enhanced, improved and gain experience (or get blown up if you are careless), as well as giving you extra units to control in most missions during the campaign. Their is a brief set of tutorials to give you a basic overview of how to play (plus a pdf manual in English and German if you really want to go there), a somewhat introductory campaign with the British of 5…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tutorial 5 was so RNG for a 1 turn tutorial that I kept failing to kill stuff so I failed to complete in one turn till i did it like 20+ times till i got all good rolls to just about win it...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am writing this review because the negative reviews the game has received of late are really not deserved. This is not a modern graphics intensive game, but anybody buying the game should have realized this. The game is a more detailed and granular panzer general type game and IMO it is done very well with some creative game design that adds more 'realism' and unit and army customization along with a more complex and rewarding combat system. I have always wanted to see a game like this…

Now kindly advise which Governor, Vice President, US Senator, Army General or game show host is both progressive enough for you and not a prior loser when seeking the highest office in the country? (Btw, those were the professions of the prior 13 Presidents elected in the past 73 yrs.) 🙄
unlabelledView post →I love Panzer General and Panzer Corps. I don't like this game. The units move like funny comic objects in a style some games use as a main visual stylistic device for object motion, and I hate it. The battle animation is good: Instant mayhem the millisecond you click on the enemy unit. The rules and the logical structure outside the game map are good. But it could not convince me and I cannot really pinpoint why. And I don't want to play it again to check out why. Maybe it is not evil enough…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this one on sale for 3 Euros and for that small money I really got much game. Basically it's a Panzer General/Panzer Corps clone (turn based hex field strategy game) focusing on the North Africa Campaingn of WWII. Missions play rather fast (somtimes in only 11 turns). Mechanics are similar but to some extend also different from Panzer General/Panzer Corps. I like the idea of upgrading my units to divisions and the associated modification options. Playing this one you have to approach a bit…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have 37 hours of play at the time of this note. Enjoyable play at that. The game is $5. People drop $20 on a 2 hour movie. Its a fun game. It needs more attention granted, but what else gives you a work weeks worth of fun for $5? Play this until your bored and then graduate to Panzer Corp. Now there is a game.

If such things as a lone artillery on a plain wrecking an attacking light tank unit, or defending better (with no entrenchment) against attacking infantry than actual infantry bother you, then this might not be the game for you.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't enjoy this game at all, I really wanted to like it being a massive fan of panzer corps. I would't waste you time with it, panzer corps does everything better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →reminds me of the old panzer general series. Got mine through a humble bundle sale. Sadly though controls are a bit hard to figure out for paratrooper deployment.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's very good for its price. Buy it at a discount, and you will never regret it! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could have been very good - even great - Panzer General follow up with neat additional features, but the main campaign is impossible to finish due to bugs. Not recommended.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Army General is a traditional, systems-heavy turn-based strategy game that deliberately embraces the design philosophy of classic computer wargames, prioritizing operational depth and historical flavor over accessibility or modern presentation. Developed by Phobetor and published by Phobetor alongside Plug In Digital, the game places players in command roles during World War II campaigns centered on North Africa and the Mediterranean, focusing on large-scale maneuvers, logistical decisions, and…

For this review, I'd like to take you through my thought process during the few minutes I played it. Start campaign. Ok, they just toss you into the game with a bunch of stuff to click on. I got my vehicles to move. I made some tanks appear which I managed to blow something up with. Clicked on a bunch of stuff, made an airplane appear. Moved airplane. Airplane…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IMO this game, or at least the idea of it, is better than games like PanzerKorps and other copy-pasta oversimplified Slitherine wargames, primarily because it actually models officers for its "units". It adds a lot to immersion, and makes you feel like a commander of men and not mindless drones. The ability to customize your units with attachments et al also adds to the feeling of units being "alive" and unique instead of clones. However the developer gave up on it too soon. Should have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's hard to go wrong for $3! This is very similar to Panzer General, and has a fairly easy learning curve. It isn't going to set the gaming world on fire, but I have seen far worse! If military war gaming is your thing without bogging down in micromanagement this is a good one
